Adobe Download Assistant failed to initialise

Hello,
I am trying to install Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premium Elements from a disc that I purchased yesterday but when I double-click on install the Download Assistant starts to run and then fails with 'Failed to Initialise'. I've run the Adobe Support Advisor and it says there are no issues. I've also tried to located the log files for this install, but there is nothing in the log relating to this install as far as I can see, but I'm not expert. Please can someone help me. Thank you.

Here is the last entry from my logfile if that helps.

  • Adobe Download Assistant sees Mozilla Firefox as IE

Adobe Download Assistant fails to complete on Adobe Xi Pro Trial Version, citing probs with my version of Internet Explorer browser. In fact my browser is Mozilla Firefox. Any suggestions?

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-acrobat-xi-pro-standard-reader-direct-download-links.html
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

  • Can't download DW5.5. Error with Adobe Download Assistant

I am getting error 100 with the Adobe Download Assistant (ADA). The log is below. IE can connect to https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/flex2gateway so why is ADA having problem? I wish Adobe didn't take away the direct download links. Searching the forums it seems lots of people are having problems with iADA and it must be causing support headache for Adobe.
My suggestion is for people who know what they're doing, provide the direct links. For people who don't know what to do after the download or have slow connection, they can use ADA.

The Assistant is a Windows application which I expect it will download and install DW for me.  How is a browser involved in this scenario?
i don't have any of the CS products installed and the cleaner didn't have any work to do.
Sorry, I thought the Cleaner would do it.  Did another search and found these instructions to remove the download manager:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400533.html
The browser is involved because it runs as a plugin of the browser.  Plugins are different for the browsers.  IE typically runs through ActiveX whereas other browsers run through a java enabled version.  By trying the download in another browser you can rule out where the problem lies.  Otherwise, I feel your only solution is to get in touch with Adobe support because this is a user-to-user community and there won't be much more help than KB articles.  Also with Adobe email support you can email them log files to look at.  It's along the process and will explain as you go.

  • Downloading a trial - problem with the Adobe Download Assistant

Q: What is the Adobe Download Assistant?
A: Trial versions of Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop Elements, and Adobe Premiere Elements are downloaded using the Adobe Download Assistant — a small application that is meant to improve download reliability and avoid issues that commonly occur during large downloads, such as frequent disconnects. After the trial product is downloaded, Adobe Download Assistant should automatically start installing the product.
Q: I installed the Adobe Download Assistant, but my trial didn't download?
A: Under certain conditions, the Adobe Download Assistant installs but does not immediately start downloading the trial product. If this happens:
    1. Quit the Adobe Download Assistant.
    2. In your browser, return to the product trial download page on Adobe.com. Refresh the page, then click the Download now button again and follow the prompts.
Important: When you start the download, be sure to select your User folder or Desktop folder. A common cause of errors are due to attempts to download the Adobe Download Assistant to the Program Files/Applications folder. The Adobe Download Assistant only downloads the trial application files. Once the download is complete it will  launch the application installer; when the installer  is launched you can then choose to install the actual trial application into the Program Files/Application folder.
    For more info, see
    Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant
    or
    Adobe Download Assistant FAQ
Q: I've have a problem on Windows 7. The download manager just sits there, and does nothing, even after I navigate back to the trial page. It turns out that you can't install Flash in the Programs folder. You have to pick a different folder for ADA to actually work?
A: You are correct, the Adobe Download Assistant does not have sufficient permission to save files to the Program Files folder. If you run the Adobe Download Assistant as an administrator, or save to a different location (for example, in your Users folder), this should resolve the issue.
Q: When I try and download the Creative Suite Design Premium the Download Assistant opens and I log in. On the top it says "Welcome, User" but on the bottom right below the action bar for the download it says "Sign in ith your Adobe ID to continue" and the action/download bar just sits there. I have quit and restarted numerous times and even left it running all night. Nothing is working though. I have Windows 7 Home Premium and see no error messages.
A: Try opening your browser by right-clicking in the start-programs menu and select "Run as Administrator".
Q: I am trying to download the Premiere trial version onto Windows. I had no issues installing Adobe Download Assistant, however when I tried to log in, it came up with error 100, claiming it could not communicate with the internet.
A: Many of the errors which forum users are experiencing with the download process is due to trying to download to the Program Files/Applications folder. This seems to cause Error 100, 101, 107, and even problems with being able to extract the install files after the download completes. The Adobe Download Assistant is only downloading the install files.  Once the download is complete it will then launch the installer.  Once the installer itself is launched you can then install to the Program Files/Application folder.
Q: I've tried everything and nothing works. I'm really frustrated and I don't know what else to do. How can I download a trial?
A: Another way to get trials of Adobe software is to sign-up for a Free Creative Cloud Membership. With Creative Cloud Membership you can download full, downloadable 30-day trials of all our CS6 Master Collection straight to your desktop, and store up to 2GB of files. Alternately, you can review http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 which provides information on how to obtain direct downloads.

I have suddenly become computer illiterate... that's the only conclusion I can draw from my total failure to install the Premiere Pro CS6 trial version for Mac.
Step1: I downloaded the Adobe Downloader Assistant installer and installed ADA in the default location (/Applications), which then was followed by said ADA launch. I logged in, selected PP and started a 2 hrs download of a 1.7 GB file.
Step2: I come back after a while and find a nice DVD icon on my Desktop, reading PP CS6: Great! I quit ADA and open that folder, to find another folder in it, with 3 subfolders and an "Install" application. Click on it. Nada. Reclick on it. Same + an error -1704 "can't open application".
Step3-30: I am cutting a long story short, but after reading all the support threads I could find, trying to reinstall ADA on my desktop, relog on the website, restart and cancel PP CS6 download a few times (without ADA noticing that there was already a 1.7 GB corresponding to that same file), and repeatedly failed to launch the install.app, I decided to act stupidely and remove all files and go to:
    Step 31: reinstall ADA, re-download PP CS6.
Step 32: I waited after the install, nothing happened so I went to the new PP CS6 "DVD" and found the "install" app, which reliably did not start anything.
Step 33: I rebooted. After the reboot, the DVD was gone, replaced by an empty folder of the same name...
Step 34: me typing all this... I am using a 2011 iMac running Lion and Creative Suite CS 5.5. Thanks for any pointers...

  • Error 103 on Mac 10.7.4 having downloaded PS CS6 using the Adobe Download Assistant. Why?

I let the assistant do and chose everything that happened (is there another way?) and yet I am getting this error 103. I have found and read all the other questions on error 103 but none of the contain and actual solution. Plase HELP!

I think I might have to resort to downloading the program from an illegal torrent, just so that I can use my legitimate-purchased product key on it. Would that constitute a form of intellectual property irony?
I am in total agreement with PeterBFreeman. I download 20-30 GB of data per week from other sources at a fast rate, with no problems. Obviously my internet connection speed is not the issue. Nor is my ISP--like PeterBFreeman above, I have tried to do this at two locations with different ISP providers. Could it possibly be that the download-speed problems are on Adobe's end? Because that would make way way way more sense...
And by the way, Manish in comment #3 posted a solution to every error EXCEPT error 103. Exactly which of the 10 or so solutions he provides applies to error 103? Or do I just blindly follow them all, hoping that one will work? Do you really know if any of these will work, or are you just blindly throwing solutions at me hoping that you might get lucky?
FYI, like i clearly stated earlier, I also did a direct download...four times...each of which failed miserably (error 4960--failure mounting dmg file). I wish I could just walk away, but I absolutely depend on Adobe products to survive. So I am stuck. I feel like a battered spouse.
After sifting through a number of forums and double speak--the real problem seems to be that both the Adobe Download Assistant and the direct download links have a very hard time producing an uncorrupted file. The download assistant is supposed to smooth out this problem--and under ideal circumstances, it should be able to peice together a workable file. But alas, download assistant can't seem to do the one thing it is supposed to do--and getting an uncorrupted file seems more like a crapshoot than anything else as PeterBFreeman suggests.
The direct download links also have problems because I can never seem to get a decent download speed--and either it times out or my browser cancells the downloads due to slow download speeds (this happens when I have no other problems with download speed for other applications, programs, media). The four times I did finally download the entire file (twice via direct download and twice via download assistant) I got errors 4960 and error 103 respectively.
Yet, the answer we keep getting from Adobe is, "keep doing the same even though you get the same crappy result every time". This is literally insane. Or I get just straight aversion of the question--either blaming my ISP, or my internet speed or by calling my problem "Rare" when it clearly isnt that rare.
Error 103 is an adobe error. This means that someone at Adobe came up with the number (103) which corresponds with whatever the error is. Telling me that it is rare without indicating what the error is seems just like bad customer service. The problem is clearly beyond your customer service unit. Please please please, go find a person who knows what error 103 is and ask them the following:
    1) What is error 103? (i.e. can you give me a semi-coherent definition of what error 103 is?)
    2) What causes error 103? (other than it being rare?)
    3) Can you give me some step by step instructions to fix or avert this problem? (instructions for error 103. Not error 100, 101, 102, 104, etc)
    4) If the causes can be many, what are they and can you give me step by step instructions for each of the possible causes?

  • Cannot Install Adobe Acrobat Pro via Adobe Download Assistant - Please Help

    Hi Guys,
Please can you help I am trying to download the adobe acrobat pro trial via the adobe download assistant but cannot get the download to complete successfully.
Everytime I try and  download the file it freezes when almost totally downloaded (less than a minute remaining) and eventually returns an error saying:
Error extracting teh product installer (Error 101). Check for available disk space on your system and try downloading the product again. I am trying to install to the desktop on a drive with 600GB free!!
Please help, I have downloaded the ADA through google chrome on a machine with windows 7 (64bit)
    Thanks
    Mike

    Try this:
Direct Download Links for Adobe Software
Though if the extraction fails, you may face that same issue again. Store the fiel in a different location and do a littel housekeeping. You could well simply be running out of temp space or have a permissions problem on your temp folder...

  • Adobe Download Assistant Error 107

I downloaded adobe Download assistant it lets me log in but when i try to download Adobe Affter Ecceft CS 5.5 it has a pop up that says "error 107, failed communicating with adobe.com" I've tryed to download it on two different computers but the problem happens with both, my operating system is Windows Vista, someone help please what am I doing wrong?

Ok I would recommend completing solution 1 in Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html#main_Solutio n_1.  Also please make sure and choose the default of the User folder or possibly your desktop folder.  This error is probably happening due to choosing a location such as Program files to download the install files too.
Alternately you can follow the steps listed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.

  • Where is CS 5.5 Design Standard in Adobe Download Assistant?

    Hi,
First my platform is Mac. And I am user form UK (Europe).
I am traing to upgrade CS 5 Design Standard to CS 5.5 . I cant finde any direct download so I decide I will download trial version and after that I will bay upgrade key for $ 299 from adobe store online. When I go to Adobe Dwonload Assistant I cant finde CS 5.5 Design Standard is only CS 5.5 Designe Premium version in there.
Am I looking in wrong place? I use help and it says it should be there. Is it any easyer way to upgrade ? Please help?
    Many Thanks
    Bartek

    Jeff,
Thanks for the prompt and informative reply. I have now resolved my problem and successfully downloaded (and installed) CS 5.5 Design Standard.
If you want to investigate in order to help other customers, here's the full story.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a brand-new high-performance laptop (HP Pavilion dv7t). My default browser is Firefox (version 9.0.1).
When I clicked the Download button on the CS 5.5 Design Standard page (the one you provided the link to, which I had already found & used), the Adobe Download Assistant was downloaded and subsequently installed. But when I ran it, there was no download of the product queued up:
Logging in didn't change that situation:
After reading your reply (and now armed with the knowledge of what behavior to expect), I decided to try again. To eliminate any potential artifacts of my previous failed attempt, I first uninstalled Adobe Download Assistant, and then did the download again. Unfortunately, the result was exactly the same as before (i.e. as shown in my screenshots above).
So then (while holding my nose) I tried doing the download using Internet Exploder Exploiter Explorer 9 instead of Firefox. [As before, I  uninstalled Adobe Download Assistant to start wilth a clean slate.] The first time I clicked on the Download button, a message appeared that said my download would start soon, but after waiting 10 minutes, nothing had happened. So I reloaded the page and clicked the button again. This time it worked properly (exactly as you had described) and I was able to download the product.
BTW, I began my evaluation of the trial product by using the new Photoshop, and I can see (and appreciate) many improvements and new features (I had been using CS4 previously). I expect I will be purchasing an upgrade.
Again, thanks for helping me get beyond a frustrating situation.
    - Bob (a.k.a. dojnburn)

  • Re: Adobe Download Assistant Doesn't Run (Mac)

I have the exact same issue with the exact same laptop and those troubleshooting documents did not help.
I double clicked ADM to install. Ran the installer. It installed and nothing happened.
Some time later I found that an error popped up and said I need Adobe AIR to run ADM. So I downloaded AIR.
I double clicked the AIR dmg and then ran "Install Adobe Air". Again nothing happened. No error windows or anything. I rebooted, made sure I wasn't missing an error window anywhere, updated my Mac (just in case) and still nothing when I double click "Install Adobe AIR". It's not listed in my Applications folder either.

I did follow your two documents, because I said I followed "The Adobe AIR installer doesn't display a window when launched."
    I'm attaching my installation log.

  • Adobe download assistant and manager

I have downloaded the Adobe Download Assistant and the adobe Applications Manager. I am trying to install a trial version of Indesign CS6. It will download, extract files, but freezes at 42% installation. I get an error that the Applications Manager is damaged. I have downloaded the Manager 3 times and keep getting the same error. Where can I get a good one? I have only downloaded from the adobe site because I don't know who to trust. Please help.

    try a direct download:  http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html
follow the directions carefully.  if you see an access denied page, you failed to follow all the directions.

  • Adobe Download Assistant, and Adobe Ilustrator CS6

Please remove this program from this computer. It downloaded (taking up a lot of time), and now I find it can not help me make the conversion I'm after, and it's stuck on my computer- it won't remove or uninstall.
Don't ask me to go to FAQ because it won't SOLVE the problem.
You have the technology to download it so, so now take it back!
I'll try your products on a new computer.

    Dear Mr. Wright,
I appreciate your concern. But again, please wipe out anything about me on your database. To make a long story short, my patience endured through telephone conversation with an agent (for which I waited about one full hour.)
The chats also failed to address my problem.
You have the technology to resolve the issue of Adobe Assistant, and the Adobe Illustrator. It just became a dead and wasted presence on my computer.
Next, I know when I should visit the FAQ. I don't need to do that.
I appreciate your E-mail, but to me it seems that sloppy organization is a result of poor inter-department communication.
A good chunk of your revenue comes from little people like me. I'm not oversimplifying the matter;  you do have the resources to trouble-shoot. But from what I had experienced, too many of your agents were ill-equipped to advise; and when they do make the effort, they tell me what I already know, or I get cut off when trying to pull out the ID number of that transaction.
I might try it again when my new computer arrives, or- I will not do business with Shutterstock anymore.
    With all due respects,
    Melinda de los Santos

  • Adobe Download Assistant, Photoshop Elements 11

Altho' I've tried many times over the past few days, I've been unable to download Photoshop Elements 11 using the Adobe Download Assistant.
I received an email from Adobe inviting me to download Elements 11, with a key to convert the trial version to a full version, which is an upgrade for me.  I think this is because I wa never able to download a workable Elements 10.  It constantly crashed, and sometimes brought my computer down with it.
I'd love to do download a working version of Elements 10, and have spent many hours trying, but nothing ever results from the Adobe Download Assistant.
Now it's telling me (in tiny grey letters on a black background) "The download product installation appears to be corrupted.  (Error 108)  Use the 'reset product download button' to try to download it again."  Unfortunately, there is no reset product download button to use.  I have clicked on a down arrow which produced a selection of whether to restart the download or continue trying with the download already started.  I've chosen to restart the download.  Unfortunately, nothing has changed on the window, and it is still telling me about the corrupted download.
I have no idea what the next step is or where to go to determine whether this whole thing is a hoax or whether it will download Elements 11.  If it does, will Elements 11 work?
    Can anybody out there help?

Key please see solution 3 in Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html#main_Solutio n_3 for information on how to reset the Adobe Download Assistant.
If you continue to face difficulties then you may wish to initiate a direct download of the software.  You can find directions on how to accomplish this at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369.

  • Adobe Download Assistant not working after bluescreen

I like to get the trial for Photoshop Elements 10 but the ADA is broken:
Under Windows 7 I already used the ADA to download and install Adobe Premiere 10 successfully a week ago.
Then I tried to get Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 but my system crashed with a bluescreen. The computer is fine again but ADA is not working anymore:
    - after startup it doesn't list any (!!!) product to download. The list is just empty
    - I can enter my username and password and click login. Then the buttons are greyed out and nothing else happens. I have to kill the application with the task manager then.
    - I can apply for a new user account but it greys out and gets stuck like as the login.
    - The help buttons lead to empty Pages in the web browser.
I tried to uninstall ADA and reinstall it (two times) but the behaviour stays the same.
I tried to find direct download links (the FAQs told me that there should be some) but every download page will use the ADA. I'd be fine with a plain ftp page for the trials. :-)
I'm an IT professional but I've no idea how to get ADA working, wiped from disk to get it reinstalled or to download the trials on another way. Please help.

I will try to install at a different location this afternoon.
The other thread handles a different situation: "... the Adobe Download Assistant launches, asks me to sign in ... I get a nice "Welcome, Steve" message ... and a list of related products below with links to download their trials ... The Help link takes me to an Adobe Download Assistant FAQ page ..."
    - I cannot sign in and don't get a welcome message.
    - I don't see a list of products.
    - The help link takes me to an empty page.
BUT: where does the ADA get the list of products from? Is it online or local? If everything is online where I am blocked (sign in, list, help), I'll check the firewall. Perhaps the bluescreen crash changed something.

  • Mac CS6 Suite Adobe Download Assistant Error 110, 109, 108

    Hello,
I am the IT Director for a Small College Campus and we are having problems with the Adobe Download Assistant in regards to downloading the Mac Adobe CS6 Trials. Regarding specifically the Design and Master Suites. I was able to download the Adobe Acrobat Pro XI trial as well as the Photoshop CS6 trial without problem, but when downloading the full Suite trial, I consistantly first get the 110 error, then if I try to restart the download from where it left off, I get an error 109 or 108. The download typically goes fine until the last couple percent, but near the end I get the error and can not restart the download short of starting over completely, in which case the cycle repeats.
I've done everything in Solution 1 of http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html, with no success. I am also able to download the Windows version of the trial suites, inside a Parallels virutal machine running Windows 7 without error, on the same machine that gives me the error for the Mac version. It seems to only affect the Mac downloads. I tested the same download on the same machine, but off-campus and was able to complete the download, so I think it may have to be a communication error in regards to our firewall, but I'm not sure why it would only effect the Mac Suite downloads. Taking down our firewall completely is not an option.
I have tried multiple browsers to start the ADA install from, as well as multiple machines running different operating system versions (Mac 10.8 Mountain Lion and 10.7 Lion/10.6 Snow Leopard - I'm not sure exactly which previous version it was) with no success. Both computers were on an Ethernet, hardline connection; no wireless. Any suggestions would be appreciated as our production department is starting a Creative Cloud account and would like to be able to use the download manager instead of the direct download links, from another support topic, I have provided them with for the time being, as they can be difficult to find at times, as well as less reliable.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Creative Cloud uses the Adobe Application Manager as opposed to the Adobe Download Assistant.  You are right though the error messages which you are posting indicate a failure of the network connection.  Since the same computer works off your college network it does sound like a configuration problem with your firewall configuration.
I would recommend working with the manufacturers of your firewall to determine how to properly allow access.  You may also want to review Sign in or activation errors | CS6, CS5.5 Subscriptions, CS6 Perpetual - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html which does provide some guidence for general system related errors.

  • Adobe download assistant will not work on my machine?

Adobe download assistant will not work on my machine. When i try to start it i get a message saying "Sorry an error has occurred. This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance." Any ideas what to do

Are you using Mac OS?  If so please try removing the Adobe Download Assistant from your Applications folder and try again.  This issue is documented in the Known Issues section of Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html.
