Adobe Downloader Update Issue

I am trying to update my Adobe Downloader. Everytime I select update it sends up this error "The application cannot be installed due to a certificate problem.  The certificate does not match the installed application certificate, does not support application upgrades, or is invalid.  Please contact the application author." I also can't install the current version of Flash Player, It won't let me because of another error. I own the adobe CS6 Creative Dream Suite

Lindsey Shoemaker the error messages is an Adobe AIR error message.  I would recommend removing your current installation of the Adobe Download Assistant and then reinstalling.  You can find additional details at Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant.

  • Lates Adobe Reader Update Issue

My Mozilla plug-in page says my Adobe Reader needs updated. Now I have the latest version XI 11.0.08. It does not need updated but this apparently is the Acrobat version which mine is 11.0.8.4. I don't remember having problems updating before but it is asking something new now when you go to update. It was asking for my system with a lot of choices to pick from. All I have is Windows XP so the only 2 things I saw that I figured were for me would have been Windows XP SP3 or 2 (64-bit). I know I have Windows XP SP3 installed so I picked that. Then it asks for language, picked English, then it asked for version. 2 choices, either Reader 11.0.08 English for Windows or 10.1.4 English for Windows. I knew my Adobe XI was 11.0.08 so I picked that. So when I went to install it said I already had it and finished. Still plug-in says it needs updating. Was I supposed to pick 10.1.4 English for Windows instead? They never asked these questions before. So I am at a loss. Technically I have Adobe XI 11.0.08 and this new one is called Adobe Acrobat Reader DC which can work on all devices (of which I have none). So perhaps I don't need to worry about it. I don't know. Thought I'd throw this out there for anyone who could help me. Also my Avast program says my Adobe Reader does not need updated but we're talking about the actual program, not the Acrobat part which I guess is different.
Same deal with my Java. Since I have XP the next update was for Version 8 but it said I could go ahead and install but it may not work now with XP. So I haven't bothered doing that and left it with Java 7 update 76.
Well thanks if anyone can let me know if I picked the wrong thing or not to worry about it.

    Hi FredMcD,
Thanks for the response but yeah I've gone through this before with the plug-in thingy. LOL! But what's different is it's saying Adobe Reader 11.0.8.4 is old and I have no idea what the new one is since it won't install but it's called something different. It's now Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
My Adobe Reader XI is up to date with 11.0.08 but on it too it offers the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC upgrade in a different place and when you click on it, it brings you back to the plug-in page all over again. It is something different from my Adobe Reader XI. So that's what makes this whole thing confusing. But, perhaps I shouldn't worry about it and thanks for trying to help!

  • Download Update issues

In trying to update mountain lion from 7.5 it says I need 8.0, but I don't see 8.0 on list and it won't let me update with 8.1    In trying to update iMovie it says I need to have 9.0 but I don't see 9.0 on the list and and it won't let me update with 9.1  Has anyone else had this problem? These are installed on my iMac

10.7.5 is Lion, Mountain Lion is a different operating system (10.8.x). In order to upgrade your operating system, you need to purchase it...note that this is different from updating your operating system (10.7.5 is up to date).
I was never a fan of iMovie when I used it. Probably because it uses a lot of system resources...but this will be true with any video editing program. If you want to look at alternative within the App Store, go to Categories > Video.
I would also take a look at CNET. A very reputable site with a ton of information and reviews on software:
Mac software downloads and reviews from CNET

Hate to suggest this, but you need to ask in the Flash forum. This forum is for Acrobat.

  • Download Adobe Flash update on Mac with Yosemite

I am attempting to install the Adobe Flash update on my Mac Book Pro with Yosemite.  On every attempt the download bar stops at 30%.  I have uninstalled Adobe and reinstall it and I get the same result.  I would appreciate help in resolving this issue.

I just downloaded the installer... took all of 3 seconds to download.  It's only a 1.2MB file.
Check to see if it has downloaded it anyways.  Should see something like AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_17au_Itrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg if it's there, quit Safari from the menu bar, run the installer.
If it's not there, try a different browser.  If that works, it's something in your Safari that's stopping it... could be an extension you have installed or adware.
You can also try a direct download from the Adobe site: (Under still having problems)

    Do a clean (re)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

  • Help with opening Adobe Reader and downloading updates

I can not open Adobe .pdf files any longer (this started yesterday, prior to that I could open adobe files).
When I double click a .pdf file I get this notice on my screen: Windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access file.
So I went to the Adobe download site to download a new copy of Adobe.  When I start the download I get this on the screen:  The instruction at "0x0e3a0068" referenced memory at "0x0e3a0068."  The memory could not be written.  Then two options are listed: click OK to terminate or cancel to debug.  So I click on cancel and I get this on my screen: Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer.   A malfunctioning or malicious addon has caused I.E. to close this webpage.
I don't have AVG running, I do have avast but I've disabled it.  I ran Registry Mechanic and an I.E. erasure program but nothing helps.
I have gone into I.E. and reduced the security level to its lowest state but no joy.
So, any ideas or suggestions on what's the problem and how to overcome it would be appreciated.  Thanks, in advance, for your reply.  Jim R.

Hi Mike..tried that as well but no joy.  A friend of mine was looking at it all and noticed that it was an I.E. thing as far as not letting me redownload the reader so I went to Mozilla Firefox and I could download a new version but....whenever I attempt to open a .pdf file I get that message, "Windows can not open the specified device, path or file. You man not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
Damn...this is irritating as I need to get to some of thos files as I need them for a Journal I'm working on as editor-in-chief.
It all worked just fine last Saturday but starting Monday when I was on my flight out to D.C.  no joy.
    Sigh...Jim R.

Under the help menu, there is an option to repair the installation of reader. Did you try that?

I recently bought, from the original website of Adobe, Photoshop elements 13. However, when I go with my mouse pointer over the menu, It hangs or he works very slow. Does anyone have an idea how I can fix it? I have already downloaded updates, both from Adobe and Windows. I have a new pc with window 8.1.

It could be a coincidence, but I rebooted the machine and (knock on wood) PSE13 seems to be working ok.
