Adobe DPS Hyperlinks in InDesign 2014
I'm starting to play around with InDesign 2014, and noticed that the hyperlinks panel works differently than it did in CS6. It's great because it gives a green light when the website is linked properly. However, when I go to convert my hyperlinks through "Hyperlinks and Cross References--Convert URLs to Hyperlinks" it doesn't keep the http:// in the hyperlinks panel if the web address in the text doesn't already have an http://www. The links link fine when I try them from InDesign, but as soon as I move it over to test in Adobe Content Viewer on my iPad, the it won't link properly.
Is there a quick fix? Am I missing a step?
I do know that in order to text in Content Viewer, I have to set my folio version number to 31. 32 is not supported by Content Viewer. (Not sure if that has something to do with it)
Did you explicitly define the in the Hyperlink panel? Or only in text?
Set up them correctly in the Hyperlink panel.
Acrobat is reading out Hyperlinks depending on version and settings, but only when you set it up in InDesign’s Hyperlink panel you will get correct results.

Why are files created in Adobe InDesign CC not compatible with Adobe InDesign 2014 and vice versa. This is supper annoying - we pay a monthly fee and are completely legit. So why are the 2 not compatible????
You cannot open CC2014 INDD files in CC. That has always been the case and you'd need to go through IDML for that. But CC2014 should open CC files with no problems.
Now, you'd like to share some real details we may be able to help, but saying it doesn't recognize those file is pretty much meaningless. What happens?
And if you uninstalled CC after installing CC2014 I would encourage you to reinstall CC2014. Uninstalling earlier versions has a tendency to break file associations. -

I really just need to know how to get it to open. I have created files in CC that now won't open, saying they were created in a newer version... which they weren't. i thought the remedy would be to download InDesign 2014, but i can't even get it to open on my computer. Any advise is welcomed.
The CC installers often fail to set permissions correctly on the preference folders. Are you getting an error message to that effect?
If so, find the folders -- they're hidden so you need to set Explorer to show hidden files, then see Replace Your Preferences for the locations of the TWO folders you need to fix. Start at the Adobe level and make sure both your user and System have full control, and apply it to subfolders as well. -
How do I add a poster to a page curl/turn PDF in InDesign 2014?
I have created a two-page Christmas card for my company. I used the Adobe TV video to see how to create a SWF file with page curl to import into an InDesign file and keep page turn in a PDF.
The only problem is that I can't find how to use the first page of the card as a poster for the PDF; when receivers see the file at the moment, they get is the image below, a screen-filling image with a SWF icon in the corner with a button that says 'activate here' which looks ugly.
In the Adobe TV video which uses an older version of InDesign, it's easy to see how to set a page as the poster but in InDesign 2014, I can't see how it's done.
Any suggestions? Thanks for reading this.I strongly suggest you rethink any use of SWF. Most emails are opened on mobile devices today and that mean no flash.
Add to that many people don't even have it installed on desktops anymore. -
InDesign 2014 files don't save in the same location as the original file
The behavior in InDesign CC was to automatically save the file in the same location. I understand this is a new version, and saving my InDesign 2014 files should open a save dialogue. But I don't understand why InDesign seems unaware of the file's location. In this new version I have to navigate to the files location to overwrite, and that is taking extra time that the previous version did not require. Is there a way to restore the previous behavior. I have looked in Preferences, but I can't find a way to revert to the old behavior. Any advice would be appreciated. -Thanks.

Indesign 2014 exporting pdf for web large fiel size
I am exporting an Indesign 2014 file to pdf print for web. I have tried smallest file size, Acrobat 4 & 5 and also selected transparency flattener when exporting pdf. File comes out to 12MB either way. I have gone into Adobe pdf and optimized the pdf and comes out around 11MB. The Indesign file has some small photoshop images also layered vector AI file. I have flattened the AI file and placed that image in Indesign but file is still large. With the AI file I have exported it as a jpeg and placed that in Indesign and file comes out fine for web under 1 MB. Checking with the group if there is a way that Indesign can export the AI file without replacing it as a jpeg.

The best and most logical way would be to export a PDF from the AI and place that one, so ID just needs to copy. ID is not an AI-to-PDF converter. -
Adobe DPS HTML/Javascript/CSS Web Console: why it is so difficult?
Why?
This is the type of question that i can not understand. Is it that difficult to make? Maybe an airpor to Google Chrome Adobe Edge Inspect? I have many files well written with CoffeeScript, that uses RequireJS, that is impossibile to forget a semicolon etc. that works like a charm on Google Chrome (desktop, AND Chrome iPad, AND Chrome Android). That works like a charm in the native iPad/iPhone web browser and in the native Android browser. But it didnt in Adobe DPS. And guess what: i cant find why it doesnt, because Adobe doesnt have a simple Web Console inside DPS / InDesign.
Is there any news on this field? Because using Adobe Edge Inspect is not a option: my code works inside EI because im browsing the page with my desktop browser. I want to know what is going on inside DPS.
And my code it is not "soooo" advanced. It is just a simple button with "on touchstart" event listener. Am i doing some stupid error? Fine! Just help me find out what it is, so i can fix it. Because in every single browser i tried, it works. But inside DPS. A sample code? Sure, here you go:

The Javascript above is being generated by Node.JS compiling a CoffeeScript file. The buttons do work at DPS for iPad, but doesnt on Android. Maybe Android has a problem with 'touchstart'. Maybe jQuery has a problem inside Adobe DPS. But who knows? I dont have a decent web console inspector to check what is going on. Really frustrating.
Maybe Apple and Google dont give the neccessary hooks to implement the web console? But if you can do the Inspector from the desktop to the device, why not from the device to the desktop? Am i missing something on Edge Inspect? The strange part is: the above code works well on Edge Inspect but doesnt work on Android DPS.
Sorry if im a little angry or pissed. But this would be really great: a simple web inspector: HTML, Javascript, CSS. A way to inspect the <head> tag of the HTML, what was loaded, in what order. What script is missing, Javascript breakpoints, etc.

Having teething troubles in my Adobe DPS training on Lynda.Com
I am learning to use the Folio Builder and setting up the folio from the folio builder section - where I'm giving it a name and given it Horizontal / Landscape co-ordinates as a starting document.
Q: Done all that and never see the folio to work on? How do I view this as I would in a normal Indesign document mode - it's just sitting in the Folio Builder menu box and can't access it?
What am I doing wrong here please.

The penny has dropped and see the logic....it's an empty shell for a Title you will make (say this months magazine issue) and then you add the magazine documents inside the folio).
Just getting to grips with procedure and terminology.

Indesign 2014 startup too slowly
Since June, Indesign 2014 has been opened too slowly at startup.
I wait usually about 5 minutes and if it still isn't opened, shut it down at task manager and start again. At the second time the program usually opens faster (1-2 minutes).
All this is embarassing. My computer is fairly well for adobe software, the problem is in something else.
By the way, the former Indesign (CC) is still on my system too. May be there has to remain only one? In fact I don't use Indesign CC, so can I uninstall it? will it have any influence to proper working of Indesign 2014?Many of us leave multiple versions installed (especially for inDesign, which has poor backward compatibility) without a problem. Each version is its own application and does not interfere with any other version.
I have no idea why you re experiencing such slow startup with Version 10, but I would suspect some sort of software conflict -- either an incompatible plugin or a background program. Does the problem persist if you start the computer in Safe Mode? If you log in with a different user account? -
ADOBE DPS - Viewing Article in the Cloud from Folio Builder
Hello Everyone
Learning DPS and using Indesign CC and uploaded my folio with articles to my Adobe viewer in the Cloud.
It is on show there in my library on my wife's iPad - BUT when I wish to download to view the file a dialogue box says 'It's ready to download but have to uodate my Adobe Content Viewer. There is also an icon at the base of the file with a page with strike through line on it.
Am on the latest Content Viewer and no update available - have signed in as me for the Adobe viewer too. I have no dialogue selection on Folio Builder that comes up to say PREVIEW ON MY DEVICE.
What have I missed to not be able to view and swipe the work I have done... Did I need to hard wire my mac to the ipad with a USB cable as I have heard (even though there is no USB port on this recent model?).

With a recent July hot fix, updating the DPS Desktop Tools results in the "v32" viewer version mistakenly appearing in the Viewer Version pop-up menu. When creating a folio or editing folio properties, do not select v32—v32 folios are not compatible with the current v31 viewer apps. Instead, select v31 or earlier. (We recommend using the default v26 setting.)

Hatte nämlich auch das Problem und wusste nicht wie die Spalte für den QR-Code benannt werden musste.
Die Spalte muss so benannt werden "#QRcodes" damit sie erkannt wird.
Habe das ganze aber noch nicht ausprobiert.

I am trying to set up an FAQ page with a list of questions on the left which activate videos that appear in the same frame area on the right. I’ve uploaded the video as an object state, and used the button to activate and play the relevant video/state. It works ok in the SWF preview, but crashes InDesign everytime I attempt to upload it as an article. can anyone help me?
Having spent quite a bit of time scratching my head and googling i ended up finding the answer to this myself - so i thought i best post it to help others out.
What i could not comprehend was why a functioning backbone example on the ipad could not be directly copied across to work on the android device - what transpired was that the backbone example was using an older version of the AdobeLibraryAPI - taken from Derek Lu articles (from a few years ago) whilst the Angular version was using the most up to date version of the AdobeLibraryAPI. I found this mentioned and explained on another forum post:

so i went to Adobe DPS - Library and Store SDK 2.32 : Class Index : JsDoc Reference and got the latest version of the API, swopped it out and hey presto the backbone version now works on the android.
