Adobe DPS Web Viewer - Issues

for some reason our free app is having issues being accessed with the web viewer. The folio was published as free, but when we try to share the article it just brings us to our website. We have published this folio the same way we have published all other folios.
  Anyone got any suggestions.
thanks.

What version is the app?
Perhaps you can reply offline and let me know which publication you're referring to, what issue and what article?
I suspect that you might have a web rendition available.  Also, is www.ourwebsite.com specified in your account settings as the hosting URL, the redirect URL or the Fulfillment level reached URL , and/or the paywall button URL

  • Adobe DPS web viewer functionality...

Not sure if anyone has done this - but is there a way of showing folios online... a bit like this:
For this example, the user does not have an iPad. But is provided with Sign-in credentials to view secure content from DPS.
    • User visits a site with an iFrame embedded with the Web Content Viewer utilised - with the folios displayed as per an iPad library (horizontal view)
    • User can view all folios online, and tap through to see all pages in each folio, and return back to the 'library'
    • User can only access the folios through secure sign-in - i.e.: content is sensitive and require secure access
    • All other functionality applies - object states, scrollable frames, video, audio etc.
Is this possible? I would hope it is...!
    Thanks.

Without a DPS license the answer is no. With a DPS license, Professional or Enterprise, the answer is yes.
You'll need to use the Content Viewer for web only option in Folio Producer. Here's the help link Embedding web viewer content in your web page | Adobe Developer Connection. Also, you will need to use social sharing Integrating Social Sharing into DPS Apps | Adobe Developer Connection

  • Web viewer issues

Help! I've set up my account so there is a web viewer version of our magazine. I've enabled the web viewer in DPS account administration, published a web only version of our magazine, constructed the web viewer parameter with the intention of embedding the iframe in our website. I tried embedding the viewer in the sample files provided in this article - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/embedded-web-viewer.html without luck. I can live without embedding the web viewer for now. I just want to view the publication in a browser to see if it's working. For the life of me, I can't figure out what the url would be to view the un-embedded content viewer?
Why does Adobe not mention a url anywhere in their guides so you can view your web publication? They walk you through creating the parameter, but never reveal the first part of the url. I'm guessing the url is - http://contentviewer.adobe.com/ with your individual web viewer parameter attached. I only found the url by locating the lone example of a web content viewer on the site and using the url - http://contentviewer.adobe.com/s/OHSU%20Extra/b58273a80e044872af6f3d626b8432a3/OHSU%20Extr a%20Spring/Extra%20Spring%202013%20Simulation.html#lastPage
My content viewer is not showing up using http://contentviewer.adobe.com/my%parameter
Not sure where to go from here? Are there any common roadblocks when a web viewer? Anything I could have missed?
    Thanks

  • DPS Web Viewer

I have a question regarding the v27 update.
Posted from the whats new section: "In the web viewer, articles that have an article access state set to "Free" in Folio Producer can now be viewed in the desktop web viewer without counting against the paywall threshold." does this mean that as long as an article is set to free, we will not be charged for the viewing of this article?
can someone explain this in laymans terms.
    thank you.

This refers to the paywall threshold that the publisher sets up for their customers, not the download counts that Adobe charges publishers.
Publishers can use the Folio Producer to set articles to Free, Metered, or Protected. In the Account Admin tool, they can set a threshold to limit the number of metered articles that each customer can view in web viewer. For example, if the threshold is set to 3, the customer can view 3 metered articles, and browsing to the fourth metered article displays a paywall message. In v26, both free and metered articles counted against the threshold. In v27, only metered articles count against it.

  • DPS Web Viewer SSL Support

    Hello,
at this moment Adove Web Viewer does not support SSL.
Is Adobe working to support SSL in the near future?
    Background:
We are planning to switch the whole website to SSL. Our problem is that an embedded Web Viewer call (iframe) within a ssl encrypted site won't work.
    Thank you

This is a known bug, we're working to fix it in the next release. Is your article (by chance) smooth scrolling but the length is not a multiple of 1024 (portrait mode) or 768 (landscape mode)?

  • Using the DPS Web Viewer "Web Viewer Only" option

upon investigation of the folio producer page, I noticed that there is a check box option for "Web Viewer Only".  Can anyone explain how this option works? or where there is some documentation regarding how to use this option?
    thanks.

    Hi Neil,
I have read that article.  I just am not sure if you have to "create" 2 separate folios.  1 for the "tablet device" and 1 to be accessed on the web.
I ask because you mentioned this: "In most situations you can just ignore it and publish an iPad rendition that will automatically get used for the web"
Thats where it gets confusing, I don't know if the ipad version will just automatically show up for the web viewer once that option is clicked. Without creating 2 folios. 1 for tablet. 1  for web viewer.
    Ryan.

  • DPS web viewer - distortion at foot of articles

I've created 2 web viewer versions of apps and on both, some articles show distortion at the bottom (see pic below).
This happens on some articles but no others. Can someone provide a solution please?

  • Adobe pdf online view issue- End user license agreement

There is an issue with viewing adobe pdf online.

I just found on other thread. I tried this and it helped solve view the contents. I  other words this resolved.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste (command-V) into the text box that opens, then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
I've seen an unconfirmed report that the "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you might need to remove it as well, if applicable.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Export to Web viewing issues

I produce a simple piece of HTML mailing for my clients to send as an e-mail blast. I typically create these, and they contain graphics and some direct hyperlinks with URL information embedded within a slice. I Export to Web and place the produced files on my FTP, get the link and I send out a blast e-mail. When I test this on my Mac (Mail) the piece looks perfect.
I know that some folks block HTML, so I also include the URL.
Some of my clients have replied that the output is desheveled. Indeed it does look that way. It looks as there are shifted or missing slices. I started to send out a blast test to all of my personal e-mai accounts, and I did get questionable results through G-mail and my web hosts own client. But the art looks great following the link to the FTP. All of th eembeded links work. I'm sure most of my clients are on Outlook and WIndows, so I don't know how to correct this.

You would get a better response by posting this in the Dreamweaver Forum as the issues you describe are nothing to do with Photoshop but have everything to do with how your HTML email is coded. When you post there, be prepared to attach a link to the live page or post the code you have used.
Getting an HTML email to look the same across all email clients is tricky and involves a lot of consideration. Unfortunately you have been using Apple Mail which renders HTML through Safari so it almost always looks better than every other email client out there.
To get you started, the following link should help you out: http://24ways.org/2009/rock-solid-html-emails

  • Web Viewer - getting buttons to open in a new tab or window

I am trying to get a button to open in a new tab or window in the DPS web viewer.
The options when creating a button are:
    Open link in folio
    Open link in device browser
Both which do not work when we export the web viewer.
I know it is possible as Adobe are using this function for their Inspire magazine. This does not seem to be html either that they are using. See link here - at the bottom of the page: Adobe Inspire Magazine October 2014: The Truth in a Face
Any help with this issue would be highly appreciated.

There is a parameter on creating the iFrame called externalLinksOpen. They can set it to 'window', as it defaults to inline, which opens it in the current window. It's documented here:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/digitalpublishingsuite/ContentViewerForWebSDK-2.0/classes /FrameService.html#method_createFrame
There is also a demo linked from our 'What's New' section under 'External Link for Embedded Viewer' at http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/digitalpublishingsuite/ContentViewerForWebSDK-2.0/modules /What's%20New.html.

  • Adobe DPS Roadmap RE iPhone Support

I do not really wish to ask a "by when" question, as I know it was frowned upon in the pre-release forums:)
However I am constantly asked this by our clients, and it has a bearing on how we approach business opportunities to create iPhone apps for people who are asking.
I woud love to be able to be able to field these questions with even the roughest idea about the following:
Is iPhone (or smartphone support in general) still firmly on the roadmap for Adobe DPS? If yes, is it high, medium or such low priority that it is still a year or so away from now?
What should I tell my clients who are interested in putting their content solutions on the Adobe DPS platform, but are wanting to know how long the wait for iPhone support might be?
Bob Bringhurst recently mentioned iPhone support om a post about scaling: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3889660#3889660   "I'm not sure if or how this will change when the iPhone is supported."
So I am hopeful this may be on the  horizon, but would appreciate if the roadmap could be shared with DPS customers in a bit more detail, if not on this forum then perhaps through other channels?
    Regards, Juergen

    Hi Steve:
Thanks for your thoughts, I agree about the iPhone not being an ideal canvas. And no, we wouldn't create isolated iPhone apps using Adobe DPS, rather iPhone versions of existing iPad content:
For every app we have done clients have requested (and wanted to pay for) an iPhone version of the content. (we don't do typical periodical magazines, but occasional custom content single issue iPad apps, imagine how I feel about having signed up for pro license now that single issues will cost US$395)
Since we use inCopy in collaboration with clients, they seem most interested in making the text content from their iPad apps available on iPhone page templates, plus some resized pics. Nothing amazing from a UX perspective, but I could see re-flowing stories onto the iPhone with Indesign flexible layouts and inline scaled images.
IiPhone support had been requested by a lot of people at one point in the pre-release last year, not much interest now it seems...
So for now we use SenchaTouch or Appcelerator to convert the text to HTML5 to iPhone, but that's not as easy as having an Adobe DPS iPhone viewer and keeping it in the designers domain instead of having to code javascript etc.

  • Viewing and purchasing on Desktop / Web Viewer Question.

I understand that if you share free content via your iOS app it can be viewed in a browser (with some features missing like swiping of images .)
    My question is this....
I have a Professional account... Can a person purchase the magazine and view the whole magazine via a Desktop computer with the DPS Web Viewer? Or its only limited to free content on your web browser but they have to have a iPad to view the whole mag?  Do they get full access on the desktop if they purchase.
    Thanks
    Ron

For a professional customers, only the free content that was shared can be viewed on the web viewer/desktop. For enterprise customers, restricted content can be accessed via entitlement using the Content Viewer for Web SDK

  • Adobe DPS and web content viewer issues

Having an issue with the tablet and web content viewer version of this particular article. I've create two separate documents one for iPad and one for iPhone, reuploaded the article and recreate the entire article all in the hopes that it would resolve the issue. Any ideas as to how I can remedy this problem? Thanks.

This is a known issue with smooth scrolling articles in the web viewer: From Digital Publishing Suite Help | DPS Bug Fix Release Notes:
"Smooth Scrolling articles in web viewer may not display properly on the last page if the length of the smooth scrolling article is not an exact multiple of the folio height. For example, the last page of a 1024x2000 article may be cropped, but a 1024x1536 (2 times the height) or a 1024x2304 (3 times the height) should display fine. The issue is especially common in portrait orientation. One workaround is to make the height of the smooth scrolling page height an exact multiple of the folio height. Another workaround is to use PNG image format for the Smooth Scrolling article instead of PDF."

  • "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser" error in Windows 7 and Acrobat pro 8.1.7

I get the error "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser.  Reader will now exit.  Please exit your browser and try again" in Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 with Acrobat pro 8.1.7.  This happens when trying to open  a PDF file in Internet explorer 8.0.760 or when I open a PDF in Quickbooks 2008.  If I answer ok or cancel the file opens normally.  If I open acrobat 8 first then the pdf files open as expected.  I also tried a copy of Acrobat reader with no difference in the outcome.  Since this happens on two different computers one fresh copy of windows 7 x64 the other an upgrade to windows 7 x32 and they used to work before the change to windows 7, I assume there is some kind of incompatibility with windows 7 and acrobat.  Is this a known issue and will it be fixed in an update to acrobat in the near future?

tvandersluijs - I'm sorry if that screwed up your machine however:
    1. What version of Adobe Reader are you using because as you can see the registry entry is for Adobe Reader 9, if ur using Adobe Reader 8 then u need to specify ur version as PAllens entry suggested - "E.g. "C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat [version]\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""
    2. I've used this solution significantly because I have come across this specific issue for multiple users.
    3. All the registry entry does is tell Windows what program to use by default to open/view PDF documents.
My intention wasn't to screw up ur machine or anybody elses as I said I've used this solution many times however what I've should gave is the disclaimer to backup ur registry before u make mods so u can revert back in case. Also the ony other thing I can think of is that this solution was for Windows XP using registry editior 5, I'm noticing that the title of this thread is Windows 7.

  • Adobe Reader X fast web view problem

    Hi,
When I try to open a PDF with several pages from the web using Adobe Reader X, fast web view function seems not working while I could only view it after download of the whole file completed. Checked and confirmed that "Allow fast web view" selected in the Reader, as well as the PDF file being tested support such function. Here's my OS and software environment:
    - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with SP1
    - Internet Explorer v8.0.7601.17514
    - Adobe Reader X v10.0.1
I tried several scenario as below:
    - Disable "Display PDF in browser", no improvement
    - Uninstall Reader X and install Reader 9, test on the same PDF and fast web view working properly
    - Uninstall Reader 9 and install Reader X again, same problem happen again
    - Install Reader X on a freshly installed Windows XP with SP3, same problem appears
Does anyone experience the same issue? Or any ideas \ solutions? Many thanks.
