Adobe Dreamweaver Default File Formats

Hello!
When I first started using Adobe Dreamweaver, it had that dialogue that asked me which files I want to open with Dreamweaver by default. I chose all of them, but as of recently, and after installing MS Office, Expression, and Visual Studio, the some of those files have been changed to be opened by other programs, such as MS Excel, and have their icons changed from the Dreamweaver one with the "</>" inside a paper to the default IE9 HTML icon.
What I want to know is, is there a way to get that initial file format defaults dialogue back so I can make Dreamweaver the default for all the possible file formats again? If it requires editing the registry, that is no problem; anything that can fix this I'm willing to try. I don't want to change it in the Control Panel because it will, based on my own personal experience, mess up the registry, and won't change the icons of the files either. That's why I want Dreamweaver to do it by itself. Is there a way to do this?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  • How do I change the default file format for saving files in Preview

I often take screen clips and save them as files to my desktop, then upload them to my website or include them in emails. The default file format for Preview seems to be TIFF, but I'd prefer jpg. How do I convince Preview to use jpg as the default file format?
    TIA,
    Thad

I should have been a little clearer...
If I'm emailing a screen-clip, I can just paste it right into the email, but I post on a lot of discussion boards and it's often nice to be able to include a screen shot in those. My preferred way to do that is to post the clip at my personal website and then put a link in the post. It gives me the ability to delete the image whenever I want (a plus for any security freak) and it works on every discussion board I know. Some boards allow attachments, some don't. Plus I don't want to have to remember different d/b file attachment procedures. Anyway, when I make a screen-clip, I need to temporarily save it (usually to my desktop), then ftp it to my website. I use Preview to do that. It's simple. But I'd like it to default to .jpg instead of .png or .tiff. (FWIW, I just tried it and the default was .png, but I swear I did something similar earlier that defaulted to .tiff when I first tried to save the newly-created file).

  • What is the default file format for saving in MS Office 2013? Is it still the transitional OOXML or the ISO/IEC 29500 strict format?

As I have read, MS Office 2013 is able to read and write the ISO/IEC 29500 strict (standardized Office Open XML) file format. MS Office 2010 was only able to read the strict format and MS Office 2007 could neither read nor write the strict format. The
.docx, .xlsx and .pptx saved by Office 2007 and 2010 were only complying to the OOXML transitional, as far as I understood.
My main question is what the default file format for saving in MS Office 2013 actually is? Is it still the transitional OOXML or the ISO/IEC 29500 strict format?
In case, MS Office still saves in the transitional standard by default, is it possible to set the strict standard in the settings? Is this recommended (I assume that OOXML strict is the future) to do this?
    Thanks.

Yes, the Transitional is still the default file format for saving in Office 2013, and we can modify this setting in Word Options, Save:
As Alex Brown covers in his
blog post, "Transitional is intended to preserve the fidelity of existing binary documents being migrated to ISO/IEC 29500, and includes many legacy features for compatibility with existing documents. Strict is a subset of Transitional that does not
include legacy features – this makes it theoretically easier for a new implementer to support (since it has a smaller technical footprint, so to speak), but also makes it less able to preserve the fidelity of existing documents."

  • How can I change the default file format in PSE 10?

I just upgraded from PSE 6 to PSE 10. In the former, the default file format when saving an edited image in the editor was psd. In 10, it is jpg. I prefer to save in psd, which means I have to select psd from the format drop-down menu for each save. I've looked for a way to change the default but can't find one. Is there a way?

Ah, I see that you're right -- editing that doesn't require adding a layer defaults to saving as the original image's file type.  Adding a layer causes the default "Save As" file type to switch to PSD.
I don't know of any way to change that.

  • How do you make .aiff the default file format to send to iTunes

I am using Garagebend 10.0.2 to edit my audio (nothing fancy just cutting peices I do not want out) and when I go to Share>Song to itunes the default is AAC.
I want the default to be .aiff.
There is nothing in preferences that allows me to change the default setting.

THe "Share "Song to iTunes" uses AAC as its default audio file format and you cannot change it.
If you want to export to AIFF, then use the "Export Sonto Disk" option in the Share menu
In the next Save Dialog, just select the AIFF button (and 16bit or 24bit from the popup menu below)
    Hope that helps

  • Default file format

Hi there. My forum search did not have an answer to this question...
I just upgraded to PSE4 from 3. I have been reading to save my edits as PSD or TIF rather than Jpeg. My camera uses jpeg not RAW. Is there a way to make PSE do this when auto correcting for red eye on import? I used this feature for the first time today with good results - to my amateur eye.
    Jay
PS: Are people finding this auto red eye accurate?

    Jay.....
I don't believe you can change the file format on import and really there is no need at that stage. Its not going to provide any better quality. Consider using PSDs after you've done some serious editing and perhaps have layers.
As for Auto Correct of Red-eye on import. I always advise people to turn this OFF for two reasons.....
    1. Its not always accurate
    2. It takes longer to download files.
    My 2p worth :-)

  • Photoshop cannot open files in the "Adobe Photoshop JPEG file" format

Strange intermittent issue on Mac, 10.6, CS4. Anyone know what happens to standard image files that makes them so PS cannot open them?
    Thanks

Check your file name closely.  If you have illegal characters it could make them unreadable (dashes, dots, slash, etc.)  Also, set OS to show extensions and make sure you have not lableled it xxxxx.jgg.jpg.

  • Importing Adobe Premiere file formats

Can the latest version of Final Cut Pro import Adobe Premiere CS3 file formats?

    haben
From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30)  or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
    a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.
    Thank you.

  • Can Robohelp import native Adobe Illustrator file formats?

I am thinking about getting Robohelp, but I would like to know if Robohelp can import the native Adobe Illustrator (.ai) file format directly?  I do not want to have convert my Illustrator files to .jpg, or any other file format that would lose any vector based graphics and/or graphics quality, before bringing the image into Robohelp.  I am unfamiliar with both Illustrator and Robohelp so any information will be appreciated.  Thanks!!

    Hi there
In addition to what Colum offered, if this capability is important to you, you should consider submitting a Wish Form to alert Adobe that this is a need in the real world. For folks to import Illustrator files into RoboHelp. After all, isn't Illustrator an Adobe product?
Link to the Wish Form is in my sig.

  • Adding phone file format

    in cm6
i was able to add group of phones using the builtin excel and export to csv on bat.
i noticed that the csv text file can be seen on ADD FILE FORMAT with the FORMAT FILE NAME HAVING 2 options (default and simple)
i didnt do anything on this but as i said i was able to insert the group of phones.
just want to know what is the purpose of going to that procedure of adding file format..
    thanks

    Hi Celso,
    These relationships are nicely explained in this doc;
Using a Text Editor to Create the CSV Data File for Phones
You can create the CSV data file by using lines of ASCII text with values separated by commas. The comma separated values (CSV) file provides textual information in tabular form.
Use one of these file format options to identify the device and line fields within the CSV data file:
•Default Phone-Contains a predetermined set of phone device and line fields.
•Simple Phone-Contains basic device and line fields for phones.
•Custom-Contains device and line fields that you choose and order yourself.
You cannot modify or delete the Simple Phone or Default Phone file formats.
Note: When you use the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Bulk Administration (BAT) spreadsheet to create the CSV data file, you can create the file format within the spreadsheet. When you use a text editor to create the CSV data file, you need to create a file format or use the simple or default file format. You enter the values in the text-based file in the same order as specified in the file format.

  • Outgoing Payment File Format for US

Is there a default file format available for exporting payments to a file for the US? I have a customer with this requirement and with my lack of understanding of US requirements, it will take me a long time to create one from start.
I would appreciate any assistance any one can provide?
    Thanks

You can download an xsd file from http://www.iso20022.org/message_archive.page?, then search for the format you need ( mine was PAIN.001.001.03).
This can be imported into EFM, then  mapped as required.
Note that I did have to modify the xsd file, as the IBAN field was not set with min / max making it mandatory, but is not required in US.
Hope this saves someone else the 20 + hours I put into this!

  • How to change screenshot file format?

With Grab, the default file format for a screenshot is .tiff and with command-shift-4 the default file format is .png. Is there a way to change these default file formats through systems preferences or otherwise?
I just discovered you can take screen shots with Preview (even if there's no file open in Preview) and "save as" in a number of file formats. Woo-hoo!
I'm still curious about options for Grab and command-shift-4, though. Any thoughts?

If you open the Help info for Grab (and select "Converting Grab screen shots to other formats") you will see it says that Grab only saves files in TIFF format and that if you want to convert the format to something else it recommends using Preview or any other appropriate converter.
FWIW, there's plenty of other screen capture programs to choose from.  Just put "screen capture" into a macupdate.com search to see the various "flavors".
