Adobe Drive 2 SDK

The labs page metions an Adobe Drive 2 SDK for third party DAM vendor. Which sounds like us. But I can't find any more information about it - am I poor at searching or is the SDK coming in a future release?
Compliments to Adobe - this is seems to solve a problem we've had for a long time and our customers will love it.

Email the Adobe Drive product manager, Ken Toole ([email protected]), to discuss your plans for Adobe Drive development and access to the SDK. The SDK is not posted for download on adobe.com.
Best regards,
Seoras

  • When will Adobe Drive 4 SDK be available?

    When will the SDK and documentation be available?
    I just went to grab the drive 3 sdk when I noticed that there is a Drive 4 now. I can't tell which versions of Creative Suite are compatable. Will CS6 work with adobe drive 3? And I can't tell if my plugin that I started will work in Drive4.
    Help.

    In addition, here are the Drive 4 related deployment change requirements for partner connectors:
    Mac:
    Old location: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/plugins
    New location:  /Library/Application Support/Adobe/AD4ServiceManager/plugins
    Win 64-bit:
    Old location: C:\Program files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CS5ServiceManager\plugins
    New location: C:\Program files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\AD4ServiceManager\plugins
    Win 32-bit:
    Old location: C:\Program files\Common Files\Adobe\CS5ServiceManager\plugins
    New location: C:\Program files\Common Files\Adobe\AD4ServiceManager\plugins

  • Recommend development environment for Adobe Drive 4

    Looking at what is needed for Adobe Drive 4 and I wonder what the recommended development environment is.
    Would this suffice:
    Adobe Drive 4 SDK
    OSX 10.7
    Eclipse Juno 4.2 64Bit
    JDK 1.6 64bit
    Or should I be looking at 32bit versions?
    And should I follow what was in the documentation which was older version, 3.6 of Eclipse for instance?

    Please take 32 bit application to set up you dev environment, especially, make sure JDK 1.6 32 bit is used.
    Regarding Eclipse, 3.6 is recommended

  • Welcome to the Adobe Drive SDK Forum

    This forum is intended for developer questions on the Adobe Drive SDK. It’s appropriate for third-party asset management vendors that have questions related to the SDK which can be used to create custom connectors for easy access to their DAM servers from the creative desktop. A custom connector can expose features such as check-in, version comments, and version retrieval. With the customized connector, Adobe Drive 2.1 offers users an easy way to connect to a DAM server and access it as a network drive on the user's file system. Users can treat remote managed assets as if they were local, browsing them with the platform file browser or through Adobe Bridge.

    CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE
    1. CTRL E has never worked and I have always edited my site via a link that my web designer has given me ,I don't get an error message just nothing happens,  any ideas?
    2. When I go through the link given to me by my web designer to edit the site the site appears but everything is smaller, font boxes etc, and not the correct size, I can edit ,however when I then exit editing and  check to see if my site has changed nothing has .
    Viewing the site outside of incontext editing all is normal, correct size etc , it is only when I'm in editing that the site appears different and not right.This is a recent problem and all  ( apart from CTRL E )  has been fine.
    Its almost like I have 2 websites one out here and one in incontext editing , any suggestions
    Many thanks

  • Editing and sharing custom metadata/keywords through Adobe Drive in Adobe Bridge

    I am part of a four-person video production unit operating within a local governmental entity. We are currently using four licenses of Adobe Master Collection CS5, and are about to get access to dedicated SAN storage.
    We would like each user to have the ability to assign specific keywords to any given video clip (or remove keywords from clips) within Adobe Bridge, and have the three other users see the same results. I've noticed that Bridge alone will allow for keywords to be added or removed, but this list is specific to each user. Importing one list into other users' profiles is a start, but would no longer work, once keywords are added or taken away.
    The overview page for Adobe Drive 3 says that it, "allows users to edit and view custom metadata/properties through Adobe Drive in Adobe Bridge," but I haven't found any explanation in either the website, forums, or user's guides that delves any farther into this area. If we incorporate Adobe Drive/Bridge into our workflow, will we be able to share/sync keywords between users? Is there some other (affordable) solution that would let us do this?
    Thanks for any insight you might be able to offer.
    Chuck

    Hi,
    Thanks for sharing your case.
    The keywords you mentioned is XMP metadata, if all your digital assets are managed by ADEP CQ DAM service, you can use AD3 with built-in ADEP connector to communicate with the DAM server, then, I think it can meet your requirement, it means, the keywords can be set by one user through metadata panel in Bridge, and can be viewed by other users.
    for custom properites, it's different from XMP metadata, it refers to the properties of one asset which is managed by a Content Management service. users have to use another UI to edit/view them in Br after AD3 is installed.
    here are some requirements to use it.
    1) CMIS 1.0 compiliant server should be used to manage all your digital assets
    2) use the built-in CMIS with AD3 to connect to the server.
    if other kind of servers are used, you should develope a custom connector through AD SDK to enable custom properties feature as well as some other handler required by AD SDK

  • Adobe Drive not connecting to hello world sample launched via Eclipse

    I'm trying to get the hello world sample running with Drive SDK 5. I got:
    Adobe Drive 5.0.1

    Afterwards, I start Adobe Drive (32bit version). The UI hangs with the message "Adobe Drive is starting. Please wait.". From task manager I can see that not just Adobe Drive was started, but also AD4ServiceManager.exe. I guess, this should not happen, because Adobe Drive should discover the one launched via Eclipse.
    So what's going wrong here? How does Adobe Drive discover the one launched via Eclipse? What could block discovery?
    Here more details in case that helps debugging the problem. MANIFEST.MF:

    Here the Eclipse run configuration settings:

    Wow, this seems to help even though it is still a bit shaky. Here the steps I have to do to get it working:
    manually launch 64bit version of AD4ServiceManager.exe with parameter -launchedbydrive
    launch Eclipse project and wait till ss shows everything as registered (much faster now)
    start 64bit version of Drive -> my adapter doesn't show up
    shutdown drive
    start 64bit version of Drive again -> my adapter now shows up and works as expected
    I find a few things confusing here:
    In Eclipse, should I configure the 32bit or 64bit version of AD4ServiceManager as plugin execution environment? Currently, I'm using the 32bit version.
    Why isn't the step of manually launching AD4ServiceManager.exe not mentioned in the getting started guide?
    I will reboot my machine to see if it is still working or just some special sun radiation making it work currently :-)

  • Check in dialog with Adobe Drive 4.2 doesn't work

    Hi,
    we are currently implementing a custom check-in dialog using Adobe Drive 4.2.
    The dialog looks like the example given in discussion "Custom check in dialog".
    To build the SWF, I use Flash Builder 4.5 with Adobe Flex SDK 4.0.0 (flex_sdk_4.0.0.14159A).
    I have created a new Flex Project with Application type "Web" and added a MXML Modul with name "CustomUI" and option "Do not optimize (module can be loaded by multiple applications)".
    After compiling the project I extract the "CustomUI.swf" and copy the file in the "resources" folder of my Custom Adobe Drive adapter.
    I implement the "IGetCustomCheckInUIHandler", "ICanEnableCustomCheckInUIHandler" and "IGetCustomCheckInUIContextInfoHandler":
    "IGetCustomCheckInUIHandler" sets the module url like
    response.setModuleURL(Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource("resource s/CustomUI.swf"));
    "ICanEnableCustomCheckInUIHandler" enables the custom ui dialog with
    response.setCanEnable(true);
    "IGetCustomCheckInUIContextInfoHandler" adds some context data like
    Map<String, Object> contextInfo = new HashMap<String, Object>();
    contextInfo.put("key1", "test1");
    response.setContextInfo(contextInfo);
    (Also hidding the "IGetCustomCheckInUIContextInfoHandler" in "IRemoteHandlerFactory" doesn't work.)
    Right click on an checked out asset in Windows Explorer and click on "Adobe Drive 4/Check in..." does following:
    1. "IGetCustomCheckInUIHandler" called
    2. "ICanEnableCustomCheckInUIHandler" called
    3. "IGetCustomCheckInUIHandler" once more called
    4. "IGetCustomCheckInUIContextInfoHandler" called
    5. The default check in dialog is shown (with no custom ui extension), the default dialog hangs (OK/Cancel doesn't react on click, the dialog is freezed). Only the close button (X in the right upper corner) works.
    How is it possible to provide a custom ui check in dialog?
    Thanks

    Hi again.
    I found where the problem was (at least in my case).
    To go to the point: go in the "properties" of your flex project. In the menu, go in "Flex Build Path" and then in "Library Path". Then, the option "Framework linkage" is with the default value in a new flex project.
    So here is the trick : with Flex 3 (so Adobe Drive 3), the default value is "merged into code".  Bug in the Flex 4 (so Adobe Drive 5), the default value is "Runtime Shared Library".
    And because the module is ran independently (with no link with the flex code that load your module), the flash player crashes because it doesn't find your libraries (like ICustomCheckinUI).
    I discovered this problem running the Custom UI from the windows explorer (not with Bridge) and using the Flash Player Debug version, and watching the error log files of the Flash Player.
    So in the end, when I checked "merged into code" in the Framework Linkage option, all my dependencies of my flex module were merged into my final module swf, and no more flash crash.
    Sorry for my bad english and hope it helped.
    Guillaume

  • Adobe Drive Custom Connector

    Hi,
    We have a requirement for Digital Asset Management solution and the client already has a FileNet P8 4.5.1 solution in production. They are using Adobe Creative Suite CS5 (Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). We tested the CMIS connector with P8 5.0 and we found few limitation(no previews and thumbnails, no option to select the class as it always defaulted to "Document" class, version comments not stored, verison previews not available) and will appreciate if you can confirm that the following requirements can be met by developing a custom connector using Adobe Drive SDK:
    The user needs to be able to Checkin Indesign Documents with all links from Indesign or by just doing a copy/paste of the full Indesign package folder in “Finder”
    While checking in the user should have the option to select the class of the document and fill the indexes for the documents
    The user should be able to search in Adobe Bridge based on the indexes filled during checkin operation (FileNet Properties)
    Adobe Bridge should be able to show the thumbnails and preview for all added content (Indesign, illustrator, Photoshop)
    Versioning should be supported with version comments, and versions dialog should show the preview of each version.
    Thanks
    Alex

    from the perspective of Adobe Drive, I think the answers for all the above questions is Yes.
    Adobe Drive is a set of client components for asset managementss, it depends on your connector and remote DAM service to provide all the information it needs, like thumbnails, preview, seach cretirias in Bridge, version comments and etc, throught Adobe Drive SDK, if your connector follow it and is good designed, I think Adobe Drive can meet all the above requirments.
    any issue you will met in the developement, you can post here
    thanks

  • Using Adobe Drive to upload images to alfresco

    Hi all,
    I am using Adobe Drive 2.1 with InDesign CS4 to connect to Alfresco.When I got connected to my alfresco with Adobe Drive a new drive (z:) is created and I can see the alfresco folders there.
    Imagine that I have and InDesign document opened with a local image placed in it. We want (programmatically) the image to be copied to drive "z:" when we do the check in of the InDesign document (so other people can open the InDesign document with no image link lost (everybody will have a drive z: because everybody will have Adobe Drive)), but unfortunately the image is not uploaded to alfresco until we manually do a check in from the Adobe Drive contex menu  in Windows explorer, so the rest of the people have a image link lost problem.
    My quetion is,  Is there any way to upload the image programmatically to alfresco from InDesign? if not, Is there any other way to do this? perhaps using the Adobe Drive SDK?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alvaro.

    Currently, there is no direct method to upload images programmatically via Adobe Drive. Adobe Drive SDK is used to develop custom connector.
    BTW, InDesgin has a function called package(Menu:File->Package). After you open a file with linked files and click menu File->Package, you specify a folder in Adobe Drive disk(Z:), then all related files will be saved to the specified folder and checked in automatically, no matter the original linked files are checked into the server or not. The disadvantage is that it may break your current folder structure. If the package function can meet your requirement, you can refer InDesign SDK from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/indesign/sdk.html to develop a plugin/extension to do this work.

  • Adobe Drive 4 - log4j.xml settings ignored

    I've been looking at Adobe Drive 4, both with our custom connector and the sample connectors, and I can't get any changes to the log4j.xml file to be honored. I can adjust the log level from the "Settings" panel of the Adobe Drive 4 Connect UI, but that has two major limitations: 1) It only goes to the "Info" level (there's no Debug or Trace), and 2) Only the com.adobe.* packages get logged
    I'm editing the log4j.xml file in what I believe is the correct location for AD4 (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\AD4ServiceManager\configuration).
    I've added a logger for the sample connectors as described in the SDK documentation:
    <logger name="sample">
          <level value="DEBUG" />
      </logger>
    I've also tried manually setting the Root Logger's Priority:
    <root>
            <priority value="debug"></priority>
            <appender-ref ref="AdobeCSIDefaultAppender"/>
        </root>
    But after doing this launching Drive, then using the FTP sample connector, no log messages for the connector ever get added to the log file.  I know I'm looking at the correct log file because it gets updated with messages from the com.adobe classes.
    As a test, I also added a call to a com.adobe Logger from within a FTP connector handler class, and it gets added just fine.  For example, from within the sample FTP GetChildrenHadler:
    Logger.getLogger(Path.class).info("TEST MESSAGE");  <---  Appears in Log file
    Logger.getLogger(GetChildrenHandler.class).info("TEST MESSAGE");  <---  Does not appear in Log file
    Is there something else I need to do to get AD4 to use the log4j.xml configuration?

    Hi Jianfeng, thanks for your response.
    I tried making only the change you suggested, but the result was the same.
    I reverted back to the original log4j.xml (as installed), then replaced the com.adobe logger with the sample logger as you suggested (full file contents below).  After making the change and restarting Adobe Drive, I still get the same behavior as I mentioned in my original post.
    To recap (all of these test calls were put at the beginning of the FTP connector's GetChildrenHander.execute() method) :
    Using a com.adobe logger, messages show up based on the Log Level setting in the Adobe Drive UI dialog:
    Logger.getLogger(Path.class).debug("TEST MESSAGE")  <-- Never appears in log file
    Logger.getLogger(Path.class).info("TEST MESSAGE")  <-- Appears if Log Level setting is Info
    Logger.getLogger(Path.class).warn("TEST MESSAGE")  <-- Appears if Log Level setting is Info or Warn
    Logger.getLogger(Path.class).error("TEST MESSAGE")  <-- Always appears
    Using a sample package logger, only ERROR and FATAL-level messages show up, regardless of the Log Level setting in the Adobe Drive UI dialog.  I assume this is because the Root logger threshold is fixed at ERROR level.  For example:
    Logger.getLogger(GetChildrenHandler.class).debug("TEST MESSAGE");  <---  Does not appear in Log file
    Logger.getLogger(GetChildrenHandler.class).info("TEST MESSAGE");  <---  Does not appear in Log file
    Logger.getLogger(GetChildrenHandler.class).warn("TEST MESSAGE");  <---  Does not appear in Log file
    Logger.getLogger(GetChildrenHandler.class).error("TEST MESSAGE");  <---  Appears in Log file
    Thanks for your help,
    Brian (aka GoColts)

  • Versioning in Adobe Drive 3.0

    Hello,
    Have some problems with versioning in Adobe Drive 3.0
    'View Versions' in Bridge display icon only for current version. 'Open' version returns corrupted file.
    The same code works fine with Adobe Drive 2.6
    Did not found any differences for version handling in sdk docs 3.0
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
    Could you please share more detail information?
    Which connector are you using? the built-in ADEP, CMIS connector or a custom connector?
    What is the icon for the current version? a file system icon representing those files with the same file extension or a bitmap thumbnail? how about other versions?
    What does you mean "'Open' version returns corrupted file"? you openned the current version or the previous version? Did the application openning the version crash or you could still open the version, however the file content is incomplete?
    for your information, We never released Adobe Drive  2.6, only 2.0, 2.1, 3.0.
    Furthermore, you can create a Environment variable named "AdobeDriveLogLevel" and set its value to "DEBUG", reproduce this issue and post the logs under <userdata>\Adobe\Adobe Drive CS5\logs and \Adobe\CS5ServiceManager\logs here or send them to [email protected]

  • Guide to connect Adobe drive with Alfresco CE

    Hallo everybody!
    Since adobe remove version cue, i search for a replacement. Can somebody please write a short  guide how to configurate Alfresco CE to optimal work with adobe drive? Its drive me creasy, bljad! I think, i am not alone with this problem. Feel free to write here everethink, you found about it. Together we find a solution, i think.
    The interest were (after connect Adobe drive to Alfresco CE):
    - how configurate the space, where Alfresco CE saving the files ?
    - how to set permissions to Alfresco CE drive to chek in the files from adobe programms?
    - in bridge i cannot see the thumbnails of files (only the standart thumbs, maby it has something to do with the permission rights?)
    - how can thomebody else from anywhere connect to Alfresco Cmis that is locally on my pc, like earler in versioncue, to callobarate)
    Thanks to everybody for suggestions and help!
    Adobe drive 2.1
    Alfresco CE 3.4

    Hi Borisbritva,
    To work with Adobe Drive, you just need to install and launch Alfresco CE server. No special configuration.
    Section 'Using the CMIS Connector' in CMIS CONNECTOR FOR ADOBE DRIVE 2.1: TECHNICAL NOTE doc shows the detailed steps on how to connect Alfresco server with Adobe Drive 2.1.  Below is the link for the tech note:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/creativesuite/cs/adobedrive/CMIS_Connector_Tech_Note.pdf
    For "how configurate the space, where Alfresco CE saving the files ?" & "how to set permissions to Alfresco CE drive to chek in the files from adobe programms?", I think you need to read Alfresco Document ( http://www.alfresco.com/resources/documentation/ ). For simply try, use admin account to connect Alfresco Server with Adobe Drive. CMIS CONNECTOR FOR ADOBE DRIVE 2.1: TECHNICAL NOTE doc gives the detail info about how to browse, check in, and check out files.
    For "in bridge i cannot see the thumbnails of files (only the standart thumbs, maby it has something to do with the permission rights?)",  Adobe Drive 2.1 with CMIS connector doesn't support it. But Adobe Drive has exposed API to retrieve thumbnails of files. If you have interest, you can download Adobe Drive SDK ( http://www.adobe.com/devnet/adobedrive/eula_21.html ) and try it.
    For "how can thomebody else from anywhere connect to Alfresco Cmis that is locally on my pc, like earler in versioncue, to callobarate)", Adobe Drive 2.1 with CMIS connector support it. Just replace 'localhost' with you external IP address in Server URL when connect to Alfresco server.
    Thanks,
    Hui

    You are running a very old version of EtreCheck. Download the latest version of EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck. It has additional checks to look for failing hard drives.

  • Photoshop CS6 not allowing Check In with Adobe Drive 4.2 & AEM 5.6 DAM

    I have just started to set up a AEM DAM for my design team to utilize. While it worked exactly as expected on one team member's computer, I am having some problems. I can only check items in or out through Bridge CS6. With both PS and Illustrator the "Check In" menu item is greyed out. Also, when I open a file in PS from the DAM, it doesn't automatically check the item. I've seen it work fine on a cowokers computer with a seemly similar setup. Any ideas?
    Mac 10.7.5
    PS CS6
    Bridge CS6
    Adobe Drive 4.2
    CQ 5.5 and AEM 5.6 (same thing on both)
    Thanks in advance!

    In order for the Check In menu item to appear in the supported CS apps., the asset must be opened and a change must be made (it will then automatically be checked out).
