Adobe Elements 12 "initializing" problem.

Any insight what is happening? This is Mac version. Initializing. This is an Os problem vs Adobe Elements 12? Will I encounter the same problem if I upgrade to version 13? I rarely use Elements but at times prefer it's color balance to other programs so it's worth it's value for that alone.

Adobe Elements 13, problem with OS requirements.

I have been given Adobe Elements 13 as a gift. I only have Mac OS 10.7.5. Can anyone suggest a way around this? Can Adobe allow me to download Elements 12 instead? A simple mistake but a waste if I can't get help. Any suggestions welcome.

Problems installing Adobe Elements 4.0

Wow, do I love my Macbook Pro. No waiting to order it. Got it 3 weeks ago at the Apple Store. No noise, no problem installing my old files .etc.
However, tonight I tried to install Adobe Elements 4 two times. Both times at the last seconds of installing I get a message to try installing again. Is this a known issue with intel Macs? Or do I have defective software?

That's a good question which often leads to a lot of debate. Most benchmarks show the effect of dual channel is minimal, probably because with most applications memory is not the bottleneck, other sub-systems like the hard drive or graphics are.
It really depends on what you're going to do with the computer: if a lot of Elements 4 work under Rosetta with many windows open etc. I think you'd be well served by going to 2GBs of RAM. If intensive use like that will be minimal, and mostly you're going to "iLife it up," e-mail, surfing, etc. then you'd probably be happy adding another 512MB. Over time as more programs go Universal the overhead imposed by Rosetta will be less & less of an issue.
When shopping be sure to check out OWC (Other World Computing) for their pricing on genuine Samsung memory (I'm not a fan of their "no name" brand). Apple uses a lot of Samsung itself, as well as Micron which you can buy from Crucial.com. Others will have their own favorites to recommend, of course.

I am having a problem using the help menu in Adobe elements number five.
When I open the help menu, the dialogue box defaults to an unreadable display font. Is there any way to change that default font? Using the help menus to find a solution is not possible for I cannot read what it is displaying.

For product, there is an option in preferences where we can set fonts. There are two options: One is application font and other is system font. I am talking about elements 8 which I have but not sure that will solve your problem which is help related.

Hello again. When I said PSE 12 was an upgrade on CS2, I meant that simply from an informal point of view - and it is: it's better software in most respects. In expert mode, the features and functions are much the same as in the CS2 I had before, but enhanced and slicker. Less 16 bit colour depth and a few other things of course. Unfortunately, as it now transpires, the "few other things" has turned out to include the measuring feature.
Thanks for the work-around - only problem is ... to what Info Panel are you referring when using the line tool? I've looked around but can't see the line length being shown anywhere. Thanks in advance for any light you might be able to cast on it.
Incidentally, I upgraded my written-off Canon D5 MK II with a D6. To me it's an upgrade - it's a much better camera - though by the letter of the law, the strict upgrade path would be to a 5D MK III. One can use the word "upgrade" in this informal (but entirely meaningful) sense, I hope, without being sent to prison!!

I have Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 installed on Windows XP 32 bit, Windows 7 64 bit, as well as Windows 8.1 (previously 8) and no problems.
Are you installing the program from installation files (purchased as a download to a Windows or Mac computer??) or from installation disc labelled for Windows?
After the program is installed, then you install the Premiere Elements 9.0.1 Update and work from it.

More details first before we go changing any compatibility settings.

Thanks for the follow up. Let us back up and regroup.
Given you have a Premiere Elements 12 Expert Timeline and you want to upload that content to Facebook. For now, I am assuming that you have setup the project correctly, so I am jumping to the "sharing" goals.

Facebook and then select the appropriate preset.
Can you get that far? What error message(s) provent you from going further?
Then you talk about putting the Timeline content on a disc. For that you have 3 choices
a. burn to DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc
b. burn to AVCHD format on DVD disc
c. burn to Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc.
You cannot burn a data disc from Premiere Elements (just in case note, data disc would be essentially copying a file to a DVD disc as is rather encoding it to DVD-VIDEO or other).
As you have noted, there is a "WorkArea Bar option" included with some of the Publish+Share export choices. The way this work is
a. In the Edit area, you set the gray tabs of the WorkArea Bar to span just the Timeline section that you want to export (selective export). To get that to work, when you get to Publish+Share, you have to have a check mark next to "Share WorkArea Bar Only" option. I am not sure if that is your goal "selective export" or whether you saw the option and was wondering what it was all about. But the bottom line on this part of the issue is do you want one of the formats mentioned on DVD or Blu-ray disc OR do you want a file that you can email or put on a data disc for someone to work on or play on his/her computer as a data disc?.
If you give us an idea of the properties of your source media, the project preset that you selected for the project, and define your goals, I will give you a workflow to practice with if it is needed. I have no idea of your background so please excuse if I mention anything that you already know.
By the way, the Premiere Elements workspaces have changed drastically starting version 11. The File Menu/Export/Movie of some earlier versions no longer exists. All that remains in that location is File Menu/Export/Title.
Please review the above and then we can put it all together based on your details to be supplied. Further discussion can include file types to save to hard drive for upload to the social websites at the social websites in contrast to uploading to these sites from within Premiere Elements.

Welcome to the forum.
As Steve points out, MOV is but a "wrapper," and it is what's inside, that matters. The same holds true for AVI's, WMV's, and more. This ARTICLE goes into more detail.
When one begins a Project, at New Project, they need to know the details of their Source Files, and the Project's Preset, chosen at New Project, must match that Source Footage. That is why it is so important to know about that footage - so one can match to it. If you will tell us all about that footage, someone can help you make sure that your Project Preset matches, so that you do not have issues.
With playability issues, the first issue is the match between your Project Preset, and your Source Footage. Next comes one's system, so it might be a good idea to start gathering up the info there. This ARTICLE will give you some ideas on what infot would be so useful.

Problem capturing video from Canon Vixia hg20 to Adobe Elements ,

So I am having alot of difficulty capturing video to Adobe Elements 2.0 from my Canon Vixia hg20 video camera . I am trying to capture using the USB 2.0 port , which I do have the drivers installed for.. If anyone else has had a similar problem and a solution , I would love to hear about it , .
Basically the camera is not even detecting in the software , not really sure what to do??

Issue: What folder are the videos stored in on the camcorder?
Solution: List of the directory and file structure of AVCHD camcorders
For users who wish to "drag and drop" the video files created by the camcorder the videos can be located by drilling down thru the following folders.
Double click on the removeable disc drive icon to display the root folder of the drive.
Double click on the [AVCHD] folder
Double click on the [BDMV] folder.
Double click on the [STREAM] folder. The video files are located in this folder with a .mts file extension.
- Depending on the software you are using the file extension may need to be renamed to .m2ts to be useable in your playback or editing software.

Why do I have a problem with Adobe Elements 12 Layout section?

I have Adobe Elements 12, and I'm having trouble in the Layout section at the bottom of the screen.
Within the Layout section I can use all the layouts except the All floating.
When I first used Elements 12 this was working but all of a sudden it stop working.
What can I do to solve this.

"Adobe elements has stopped working."

I've received the error "Adobe elements has stopped working" and then the program closes. It has happened numerous times and now happens more and more often. Does anyone have any fixes for this?

I've been having the same problem.
Win7 64bit 8GB RAM, 500GB free hard drive space. All Win updates in place on a regular basis (last time was 2 days ago).
I often get the "stopped working" popup message on my desktop right after I close the program (well, yeah, I would hope it would stop working when I close it) and also increasingly get it on the desktop when I open the program (before the PE12 screen opens). This latter popup "stopped working" message will persist until I close the popup window, even though the program is working just fine.
The most occurrences of actual crashes seem to be when doing a lot of titles (new or editing existing), when saving, and when exporting.
For awhile it seemed (very subjectively) that rendering the project before saving or exporting possibly helped reduce the number of occurrences, but just now the "stopped working" message popped up and the program quit while I was rendering (got about 80% through).
This time I checked the "check online for a solution" box, but to no avail--there was a brief period while Windows searched online, and then the program shut down anyway.
I've tried rebooting, making sure other programs were closed, etc. but nothing really seems to have much effect. The same project will save or export just fine on one occasion, then if I so much as change a word in a title it will become unstable. The entire project is 26 minutes long. One video track (2) with titles, one main video track (1), one audio track (mostly empty) of ambient sound with the video, one sound track.
I will try Steve's suggestion of Ctrl-Alt-Shift for awhile on opening. (This helps when PSE tools freeze up.) Thanks for the tip!

and activate with your serial number.
if you have a dl problem, you didn't follow all 7 steps. typically, failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem.

Adobe Elements 9 Slideshow to VCD and WMV: AWFUL Quality and No Slides Appear

I have just creating a long slideshow (~335 high quality slides) replete with music. I converted it to a wmv file which resulted in a movie in which ONLY the opening slide is displayed. The music plays but no other pictures appear. Great.
I also created a VCD fromt the "Output" option on the Slideshow screen. The VCD works sorta, but the picture quality is AWFUL. The slides look like little thumbnails blown up 10,000%.   I have high quality images in (what I thought was a) high quality slide show.
The slideshow looks fine in Adobe Elements 9. What happened???
Is this typical for AE9 or am I missing something???

I exited and restarted the program and tried the output options again. The *.wmv file works now but the VCD is still lousy quality. I tried the AE9 option to create a VCD with menus, but I can't find those menus on the finished VCD. The VCD size is 250MB; my 335 slides should be close to 600 MB based on the size of the origianl pictures; no wonder the picture quality is terrible on the VCD. Is there a way to convert the slide show to a VCD and control (improve) the quality? The wmv file is 188MB, which is also too small, and i have that specified as max. quality. As I said, it does look better than the VCD.   How can I export this slide show in max. quality?

I realized that NONE of the wmv files I created from my slideshow in AE9 have worked. The music background is fine, but the slides progress to a certain point and then they don't change again. The show is stuck on a slide about half way thru. This is awful. The VCD's have the same type of problem in addition to the quality issue.
