Adobe Encore probleme exportation DVD

Bonjour

  • ???Adobe Encore vs. DVD Studio Pro???

    Hello dear Encore-forum users ;-)
I've been working with DVD Studio Pro for nine years now and never had ANY trouble with it,
no crashes, no errors, no funny behaviour of DVDs, just smooth and clean!
The only draw-back right now unfortunately is that DVD Studio Pro can't author BluRay-Discs!
But our clients are starting to demand this more and more!
So I was looking around and Adobe Encore OR Scenarist from Sonic seem to be the choice!
Now when I looked through the forum here, I was surprised how many people report lots of
crashes, unpredictable behaviours and all sorts of errors and/or bugs which gave me doubts
about ENCORE. So my question is:
Can some of you guys tell me something about your experience with ENCORE? Is it something
you would recommend? If yes, WHY? Is BluRay-authoring fine or full with problems? Can it do
Multi-Angle and/or Mixed-Angle-Tracks? Can you incorporate other files like PDFs, JPEGs,
.doc-Files etc etc and have them open directly out of the DVD-Menu when you press a button?
(In DVD Studio Pro you have the DVD@ccess-option). What would you guys say would be the
reasons to choose Encore over DVD Studio Pro? (Please no MAC- / PC-bashing since the end
result counts; a fully functional DVD!)
I'm very curious to read your answers, since it will help us to decide which system we'll switch to!
Until then I wish you all pleasant (and successful) authoring and happy clients ;-))))
    Cheers,
    Steven R

    Steven,
I agree with Jeff, that Jon's site would be the place to start.
Also, I think that you'll find very little platform bias here. Now, there are probably many more users on PC, as Encore was PC-only for several iterations, until CS3 went X-platform. That said, the only time that Mac really comes up is when its particular OS might cause something in Encore to fail. Many of the questions get answered, with no indication of the platform being made. I think that I can say that in many years here, I have never read a negative comment against either platform. Also, we probe many of the PC OS's, if they are contributing to errors, etc. The vast majority of subscribers here are just professionals, trying to get our (and other user's) Projects out the door. We don't care if you drive up in a Yugo, or in a Bently (no platform references intended - maybe I should say if you drive up in a Maybach, or a Bently).
I'd offer my positive observations on Encore, but they would be moot, as I am not doing BD, and am using an older version - that will not help you make your decision.
Good luck, and please report what you gather, and on which program you decide. That info might help others (even if they go with a competitor) down the line.

  • Adobe Encore 1.5 DVD disc reading issues in DVD Duplicator

    Hello All,
I'm wondering if anyone has ever had the experience I'm having and if they might have a solution. I produce a weekly 1 hour music video program for public access cable TV. The show is bicycled to 15 different locations on DVD. I use Adobe Premiere and Encore the capture, edit and burn the completed program to DVD. I recently purchased a DVD duplicator tower (1 to 5 disc) to speed up the time it takes me to make the 15 copies I need. However, I have encountered an issue that I believe is related to Adobe Encore 1.5; when I put the completed master DVD into the duplicator, the duplicator is unable to read the disc. I know the disc (discs - I've tried several different shows on different DVDs with different types of blank DVD brands) is playable in the PC and on several standalone DVD players. Also, we get no complaints from the 15 stations that play our discs. At this time I'm stuck making 1 copy at a time in Encore. I know that the duplicator works as I have been able to test and successfully duplicate other DVDs and CD's that are not copy protected without issue. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? If I need to provide more information let me know?

Some notes/ideas here that may help
    To
Burn Error Proof DVDs (Well, close to error proof!)
Use the SLOWEST possible burn option your burner will allow in Encore, since it is much better to take a bit more time burning the disc than it is to burn "fast" and have a disc that won't play
Set the VIDEO portion of the transcoding options to a Maximum of 7,000 so your burned disc will have a better chance at playing in desktop players (which support burned discs, if at all, only as an "after thought" of the DVD specification)
Use AC3 or PCM audio transcode settings for best player compatibility (some discussion of MPEG audio not being supported by all players, especially for NTSC discs)
Buy and use Taiyo Yuden (or Verbatim?) brand blank discs

  • BIG Encore problem - Interactive dvd based on menus - blurry menus

Hi, I am making a DVD based on clickable menus. The idea is to create a DVD portfolio, where the user can click through different screens, a lot of them with images, some only videos. I am creating the menus in photoshop - using rather small text. When the menus are imported to Encore, they look ok in the editing mode, but in the preview, the text gets blurry and unreadable - this also happens to some extent with the bigger text, edges also get very pixeled. The format I am working with is 1280 x 720, 72dpi (but i guess the dpi doesn't matter when it's video), RGB color, PAL widescreen square pixel... I have tried a lot of different formats, both bigger and smaller, but it doesn't get better. I have tried to do this in so many different ways now, but simply cannot find a solution - which seems strange to me, as I have seen DVD menus before with small type, without it being blurry (for example describing different episodes of a TV show) - Is there another program that would be better for this project, as I am also worried that the images will be very pixelated... I also tried to export the project, but it is still blurry. Another problem I have, is that the highlights of text buttons appear a few pixels left of the original button - I used the correct layer names, and only text in one color. the highlight is white. I hope someone can help me with this!
First image: a dummy menu in encore (editing mode)
Second image: the menu exported as dvd (folder)

    Welcome to the forum.
Why are you starting with 1280x720 PS files when you are trying to create a 720x576 PAL SD DVD?  The downscaling alone would account for your quality loss.

  • Adobe Encore Problem: 'Device Not Ready' when burning to BluRay

Hi Im using Encore cs6 to burn to BluRay.  The programme runs for about 20 mins or so then suddenly stops and the message 'device not ready' comes up.
I downloaded and tried ImgBurn to make sure my BluRay drive was working properly and it had no problems, the problem is just with Encore.  I saved my Encore project as an image in order to burn with Imgburn but it did not take across the menu I had designed.
Im under a deadline to get this dvd finished, does anyone have any ideas?
Im using an Alienware computer on Windows 8.
    thanks!
    Tony

I don't recall this occurring with imgBurn or Encore doing the burning. I can only imagine that your project is corrupt.
I would create a new, test project, to see if the menus "behave."
Create a new Encore project, new name, in the new project settings make it Bluray.
Add menus from the library: Crib Menu HD and City Lights HD. On Crib, in properties, motion tab, click on the video option and hit delete (this will remove the motion from the menu).
On that same menu, delete the bottom two buttons. On the city lights menu, delete all buttons but the top.
Select the m2v file (from the Crib motion menu) and select new timeline. Select that timeline and set the end action as "Last menu."
On the Crib menu, link the top button to the City menu. Link the second button to the timeline.
On the city menu, link the button to the Crib menu.
Build to a BD image. Burn with ImgBurn. Are the menus the same?

  • Button creation Adobe Encore vs. DVD studio pro (mac only)

I'm sitting here, trying to figure out what to do if you want to create a neat button with transparency quickly.
I remember my time at school where we used DVD Studio pro to create our DVD menues based on photoshop images.
Right now, I am trying to create a menu of that kind but guess what? I can't do it as easyly as it can be made with the other program NOT
designed by Adobe. But, what a shame, I have no mac to use DVD Studio pro -.-
Why isn't it possible to SELECT LAYERS of an image created with a program of the SAME COMPANY to represent the different status on
a DVD menu? It would be soooooo much easier. But no!
    "Solid colors only
Elements on these layers must use solid colors and sharp edges. Use one solid color per layer. Do not use gradients, feathering, or anti-aliasing on the subpicture layers. Color gradations are not possible in subpictures." (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/EncoreDVD/4.0/WS2CF5669B-310A-4fa7-A52F-7D01AB25A846.html#WS AC753DA7-21EF-464a-9FC0-8D873658D760)
It's not possible??? Why??? I could create a picture in Photoshop and, later, it would be on your TV just as you saw it already while creating it.
All the annoying prefixes would be needless, too!
Instead I get some ugly colour changes, I have just one colour for a layer (ridiculous!!!) or the writing even disappears for a reason I can't understand...
Encore is a very mighty program, but the button creation is a very nasty work. Like apple showed, There is a way that guarantees a very more easy way.
    Please revise this function!
Am I underskilled? Am I wrong? Please comment
    sincerely
    Elke Kolke

Actually, Button creation is easy in PS, and one can even populate a Menu with Library Buttons in Encore, and then edit them to suit in PS. This latter method saves having to do the Button Layer Set and Layer naming by hand.
    "Solid colors only
Elements on these layers must use solid colors and sharp edges. Use one solid color per layer. Do not use gradients, feathering, or anti-aliasing on the subpicture layers. This is a limitation of the DVD-specs. and not Encore/PS. One is bound to those DVD-specs. Sub-picture Highlights can ONLY be 2-bit color (either ON, or OFF, plus can have Transparency - think just the opposite of Opacity in PS). There are design ways to create the "illusion" that one has Sub-picture Highlights, that get past the DVD-specs., but those are only illusions. One is still bound to the DVD-specs. This ARTICLE might offer some tips on creating the illusion.
All the annoying prefixes would be needless, too!
Those "annoying prefixes" tell the DVD player how to handle the Buttons. Without those, the player has no clue that you have a Button, and will only display a static graphic.
Jeff Bellune has a great book, The Focal Easy Guide to Adobe EncoreDVD 2.0, Focal Press. Though it was written for an earlier version, 100% of that book still applies, because the DVD-specs. have not changed. He steps one through building custom Buttons in PS for use on a DVD. He also shares a ton of tricks to create illusions within the DVD-specs.
    Good luck,

  • ADOBE ENCORE & EXPORTING TO DVD

GUYS I AM TRYING TO EXPORT MY FOOTAGE FROM ADOBE PREMIERE CS6 TO DVD.
ALL OF MY SETTINGS ARE JUST RIGHT.
BUT, I WENT INTO ANOTHER FORUM AND I WAS TOLD I NEED ADOBE ENCORE IN ORDER TO
FULLY BURN THE FOOTAGE TO DVD.
WHEN I CLICK ON ENCORE APP HERE TO "TRY IT" THE APP DOES NOT COME UP.
    WHAT TO DO????
    WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS????
DO I ABSOLUTELY NEED ENCORE TO EXPORT MY FOOTAGE TO DVD????
MY BLANK DVD SAYS MY FOOTAGE (THE FILE) IS READY TO BE WRITTEN TO THE DISC (DVD)
    BUT, NOTHING IS HAPPENING.
PLEASE ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS WELCOME.
    THANKS!!!

You mentioned earlier that you had rendered the video as DVD MPEG-2. If that was the case, it should not need transcoding again in Encore, unless you altered the length of the clip in Encore.
From Premiere, you can use File > Export > Media and then in Adobe Media Encoder, choose "MPEG-2 DVD" as the Format, and use an appropriate preset for your type of footage. You may need or want to adjust the bitrate depending on the length of your program, otherwise the rest of the options should not need changing. The resulting audio and video clips can then be imported into Encore using "File > Import > As Timeline", and be sure to select both clips at once when doing this. Any DVD chapter marks you had placed in Premiere will remain intact using this method.
When you Build in Encore, it should only Transcode the audio (to Dolby) which takes just a minute or two usually. The video should not Transcode, since you created a DVD-legal format already.
The other method from Premiere is to use Dynamic Link to Encore, which automates the process from Premiere to Encore, but most folks on this forum are not huge fans and prefer the manual control I described. If you pre-render the MPEG-2 DVD file, then once you get into Encore, you can have a finished DVD in your hands in literally a few minutes, since the bulk of rendering was already done.
If you can tell us about your computer (Mac or PC, what specs?) and your video source format, we can offer some estimates of how long these steps ought to be taking, and maybe offer a few more workflow tips as well.
Also, as matter of netiquette, posting in ALL CAPS is the same as shouting. Welcome to the forum ;-)

  • Creating Blu-Ray DVD with Final Cut Pro and Adobe Encore

    Hi all,
I am one of many with troubles creating a blu-ray DVD using Mac software. Sounds like the best way to do this is to do all of the editing in Final cut and create the DVD in Adobe Encore. Is there a way to export to Adobe Encore or should I just create a .mov file and import that to Encore. That way I think I lose the HD quality. I read that I could compress to Blu-ray format in Compressor, but I can only find HD DVD which is different. When I select create a Blu-Ray disc, Compressor won't simply create the file on my computer...it wants the disc to create.
Maybe I am a little to new at this to fully understand, but why in the heck doesn't Apple get with the times and create a DVD authoring program that makes Blu-Ray?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I have just completed my first blu-ray disc using FCP7 and Adobe encore. My workflow, once the timeline was complete, was to go to File>share>choose blu-ray as destination >export. The default encoding is H.264 along with an ac3 file for audio. It took 3 hours and 35 minutes to encode the 1hr 26 minute file.
Opening encore, confirming you settings for HD, and choosing file>import>as asset each of the files (separately, of course). Encore imports them, then under Timeline>create new, then drag the files to the timeline. CLick on the build button and you are there. I did not mention that my original render was Prores422, but that should not matter here. No trouble with burning the Verbatim 25Gb disc.
Encore will recognize that these files do not need re-encoding and burn the disc. It took 1 hour and 40 minutes to burn a 1 hour and 26 minute (17+ Gb) movie on an i7 iMac with an OWC 12x BD burner.
    Hope that helps

Subtitles must be turned on to see them on the DVD.
You can use the remote control for your DVD player to turn subtitles on and off. You can do that now to see whether you actually succeeded in including them on your DVD. If you did, users can use the remote control and you are all done.
If you want them to appear when a user starts the disk, you can set them on by default. See "Set the Default ... Subtitle Track here:

A user can turn them off with their remote, or yoiu can create menus for this. See "Set buttons to select audio or subtitle tracks" on the same link above.

Hi,
I got this message after importing about ten or so H.264 files that I encoded from Adobe media encoder.  "adobe encore the software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. installing the correct decoders for the file you are working with may help correct the problem."
The files we're shot with HD cameras.  Edited in Premiere Pro CS3.  I installed the update 3.0.1 with still the same error.
I also tried a brand new project and after about ten or so files being imported into a timeline, the system crash.  I tried this twice....
        Thanks in Advance

    Hi Hunt,
Here is the skinny.  A window base PC.  footage shot with HD sony HD cameras,  Project imported to Premiere CS3.  Once completed sent file to Adobe media encoder and render them as H.264 widescreen high Quality.  Imported them to Adobe Encore CS3.  After about ten files or so.  I got the error message.  Did all the basic trouble shoot like restarting the computer, got latest patch.  Even build a new test project with the same problem.
Something else I read in the forums, is the encore will transcoded the project to Mpeg 2 anyway, after looking at my project I realized those few files were indeed untranscoded.  So it will be a double compression and I dont want that.  So, my new question is, what is H.264 good for ?????????? I was research that Mpeg 2 is a faster render but H.264 is a slower render but better quality.....
       what do you think ????
