Adobe error mesage using drm to download ebooks  on sonyprs650 reader

error message
unknown file type or corrupted
these are ACSM files

I had endless problems with the ADE2.0/Overdrive/Sony PRS-350,  and I think it is the same with the 650.
Having the Sony plugged in stopped ADE doing anything with Overdrive books.
Two possibilities:
(1) Use the older and much more reliable ADE1.7.2.
That fixes lots of issues including my Sony/Overdrive issue and probably yours.
(2) Use ADE2.0 to borrow the books and download the DRM .epub file.
Also to authorize the Sony.
Copy the .epub file to the Sony using a file manager such as Windows Explorer or Finder.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • Adobe digital editions will not finish downloading ebook  even after double clicking on hard drive .

ADE will not download and open the ebook automatially. After locating the .ascm (ebook) file on the hard drive and double clicking on that, it still will not open in ADE.

I did all that and after I close the ADE and double click on the file, ADE opens right up and it looks like it is downloading (very fast), but nothing shows up in the ADE.
How do I only get emails from you and not all the other people on the discussion?

Right click on the ACSM file or option click and go to Open With and select Other.  You can then navigate to your Adobe Digital Editions and set the file to open with that. I would then recommend closing Digital Editions, if you have it open, and try double clicking the file.  If Adobe Digital Editions opens then the file association is still correct.  If you continue to have difficulties then I would recommend contacting the vendor you obtained the e-book from.

  • Error mesage when trying to download

I have just purchased a new iMac and have transferred all of my files, settings, etc from my old computer via Time Machine. The only thing that does not seem to work is my inability to download from the internet. When I try, I get the following error message: "Users/user name/downloads/WXHCDUxg.dmg.part could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder. Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location."
How do I get this to work?
    Norm

Are you certain this is for the same Downloads folder mentioned in the "Users/user name/downloads/WXHCDUxg.dmg.part" error message?
For instance, if you are downloading through Safari, in its General preferences tab, reselect your Downloads folder in the "Save downloaded files to" popup by selecting "Other" & then navigating to it.

  • Since changing our computer I have been unable to download ebooks to my Reader Library I get a message Some file types associated with EPUB files are not associated with Reader Library; Waterstones suggest that I may have accidentally created a new Adobe

When I try to download them from the Waterstones website I get a message saying:
‘Some file types associated with EPUB files are not associated with Reader Library.  Do you want to associate them now?  When I reply yes I get another message; ‘Configuration error unable to update EPUB files check network firewall and try again’.
The ‘books’ are saved in the Download directory and I can’t transfer them from there to my E-Reader. I have not had any problems before, it was very simple; I saved the download and it automatically went into the Reader Library.
I contacted HP and they said it is a software error and suggested I contact Waterstones.  I contacted Waterstones Customer Support and got the following response:
As the error message is specifically mentioning the firewall it does sound like something in the firewall settings is stopping the download from taking place correctly. However, the files should not be being saved to the Download folder. It would be worth trying again by going to your Digital Order History on your Waterstones.com account and pressing the download button, and then making sure to press "Open" not "Save". When you press Open rather than Save it should give the option to open the file with Adobe Digital Editions. If the firewall message still comes up then I'm afraid something is blocking it on your end.
If the above "Open" download method works but you then still get an error message it could possibly be that you have accidentally created a new Adobe ID when setting up on the new computer, rather than signing in with your old Adobe ID. It would be worth trying the aforementioned download technique again first, but if problems did still persist it would be worth calling Adobe themselves on 0207 365 0735, as they should be able to sort out any account issue.
In response to the first para of Waterstones email I already do what they suggest I do press ‘Open’ not ‘Save’ but I don’t get the open with Adobe Digital Editions (we have installed Adobe Digital Editions on the new computer. Waterstones say we may have ‘accidentally created a new Adobe ID when setting up the new computer’ does that mean that we shouldn’t have installed Adobe Digital Editions on the new computer as it would have already been there? How do I sign in with my old Adobe ID?

Hi all after attampting to get some supoport from adobe by phone.... nice people infurating policys as far as support for digital editions or DRM is conserned... However I got no where with support.
I ended up instaling Digital editions on my desktop PC and going through the motions of registering and borrowing a book then returning it. Then I trying on my iPad, Bluefire worked, Over drive did not so I completely removed Overdrive and reinstalled and re registered. all working now.
Maybe some one at adobe did something. Maybe the install of the adobe DE client on a PC corrected what ever was out of wack with my account. Mayby the server that my account lives on did a scan disk and corrected a bad clustrer.
What ever happend My account is actiove and working again. hope this helps others.

  • Can I use DRM TV downloads such as Sky or 4oD on an iMac running Windows?

I am planning on buying a new iMac along with Parallels and Windows. Before I do, I want to know if I can run TV on Demand services from the likes of Sky and 4oD which require Windows DRM. I don't want to buy a PC, but don't want to miss out on these services if they are definitely not Mac compatible. Does running Windows on the Mac get around this problem?
    Chris
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It's not an insane idea (at least in my opinion), so do not worry about that.
However, now you have got a problem: you have got an iMac and you can use OS X on it, but you can only run it while installed on a partition of the hard drive or a virtual machine while running OS X. This does not include Windows, so running OS X on a virtual machine created in Windows is illegal, and virtual machine apps do not support this option.
In conclusion, there are ways to do what you want to do, but they are not legal

  • Orarrp - error 16394 using orarrp 1.3.4 with acrobat reader 6

I'm trying to use orarrp 1.3.4 with adobe acrobat reader 6 to have a report generated in pdf format and sent to the local default printer for the user. The report generates successfully, downloads to the browser with mimetype application/x-orarrp-pdf, starts the acrord32 process, but then give the following error message:
    OraRRP Error
Failed to establish DDE conversation with Acrobat, Error: 16394
Any suggestions on what would cause the error? Is this a compatibility issue between orarrp and the latest reader, or some security setting I need to check in Internet Explorer

    hello,
there are known compatibiity issues caused by acrobat 6. we are currently trying to resolve those and a new version of ORRP will be available in the next couple of weeks.
    thanks,
    ph.

  • 3M App - Adobe Activation Error message - Cannot download ebooks

Please Help Me, Im really missing my eBooks!!
Adobe Activation Error Message is displayed when I select an ebook (that is already checked out and in "my books") to download onto my device so i can read it. Message says "You have reached your activation limit. you cannot read eBooks on this device until an activation is released from another device"
Thru chat and phone I have contacted adobe customer care twice already, the first time they helped me get ebooks downloading in 3M onto my desktop, but my android phone is where i need to download ebooks.! The second guy told me he cant do anything else becuz my Adobe ID is showing 4 remaining activations and he cant reset any activations untili am at the max limit of 6 devices... HELP!  I have used 3M on 6 devices but i no longer have access to 4 of them.

It is puzzling that the customer care rep said you have 4 remaining device activations on your Adobe ID, but the 3M app said you reached the limit.
Do you have a second Adobe ID or perhaps a 3M ID that you have used in the past? Adobe supports account joining, which allows you to activate a device with multiple IDs (Adobe or third-party), so that you can read books purchased under multiple accounts on a single device.
It's possible that your Adobe ID has 4 remaining activations but that it is joined to another account which has 0 remaining.
You can check if your Adobe ID is joined to another account at Adobe Account Synchronization.
If you do find a second account, you might be able to work around this by having a customer care rep reset the activations for the second account.

  • Error when downloading ebook to Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)

The ADE program has been uninstalled, installed and updated on my personal laptop; however, when downloading an ebook via my university library proxy, I get the following error when attempting to open an ebook (*.acsm file) in the ADE program. The only way to initially gain access to an ebook is using my university library proxy server to access an ebook in the .acsm file format.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same error, but I have not been able to find a solution either

  • Cannot download ebooks from public library. error "copy not authorized". not recognizing adobe account

Trouble downloading ebooks from public library. Have done it many times recent problem. Error "copy not allowed". Suspect that Nook is not recognizing the adobe account.

I've been downloading books from the New York Public Library to my PC and then I move the book into ADE and from ADE to my Nook without any problems.  I've also been able to return the books from ADE to the library although I have yet to learn how to delete them Nook.  You may want to recertify your computer for the ADE by selecting Library on the ADE b ar and moving down to "authorize computer"and click "finish" I also do that when I have the Nook connected and select device and once it has been confirmed as authorized I copy the book to the Nook.  I hope this helps.

  • I am trying to download ebooks with with the adobe reader

I am trying to download ebooks with the adobe reader, i keep getting an error message saying it is an unsupported file.  how do i correct this?

What is the format of e-books.
Adobe Reader can only open PDF files.
If you have e-books with epub format, you might need Adobe Digital Edition : http://www.adobe.com/in/products/digital-editions/download.html

  • I have a ebook giveaway offering on my site, how can adobe pack help me offer this download

I have a ebook giveaway offering on my site, how can adobe pack help me offer this download.  I can load the pdf to my website, however, how do people download a copy of their own

You can do this by uploading the PDF to https://cloud.acrobat.com and then using Send to create an Anonymous link. You can then distribute this link by posting it on your website or sending it out in email or however you would like. Anyone with the link will be able to view and dowload the PDF.
    Hope this helps.

  • I have a Kobo N416  E-Reader. It is no longer supported by Kobo and is outdated. I was told that I can use Adobe Digital Editions Desktop App to download book to this Kobo N416 E-Reader . How do I do this ? Thanks

Question;  How do I download Ebooks to my Kobo N416 e-reader using Adobe Digital Editions App ? I have already tried to get help from Kobo Techs but they say the Kobo N416 E-Reader is no longer supported by Kobo and is outdated. Kobo told me to use Adobe Digital Editions to download the books I bought on Kobo to my Kobo N416 E-Reader. I have already contacted Adobe Digital Editions for help but they could not help me and told me to go to Adobe Forums.

I didnt't say that our business is using Linux Desktops. I wrote, our main clientele is. And what our customers do like to use is something we cannot control...
    >What difference does it make to you if Adobe releases a new version of Reader that is not supported on Linux?
a new Adobe Reader version that's supported on Linux would be nice. a dialogue between Adobe and Linux developers would be nice...
    >As long as the old versions can open the files correctly, that's all that matters, no?
No, not if our staff is trained to use the newest Adobe Acrobat (trainings are usually for the newest versions) and uses that to produce forms. Now the files open correctly. But what will be in some months or years? Do people working on Linux do have to print the forms then again to fill in?
So do you recommend that we stop the process of producing electronic forms and stay with paper-fill-in forms? Is that the goal of Adobe? (maybe not so clever for your "financial viability"?!?!? ... ein schuss ins eigene bein?!?!)
    >Adobe is a public company and therefore it's not going to maintain a version of its software at great cost if it's not financially viable. It's as simple as that...
So it is to be interpreted that Adobe is interested in killing Linux cause if users cannot work with let's say forms, they will have to switch to something that can do that for them...
We definitely don't want to force Windows or Mac on our clientele. So as far as I get it, we will go back to paper forms and terminate our licence agreements with Adobe and deinstall it...

  • Anyone else getting adobe AIR error 2032 when trying to download Adobe max companion?

    Hey;
I'm attending max for my first time and am psyched. I've tried downloading the Adobe MAX companian at http://www.max.adobe.com/companion but I keep getting error 2032. I'm wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this problem and if so what can I do to fix it? Thanks for your replies in advance.

Thank you for responding. I found the problem. No it isn't a flash player
issue it is an AIR issue. I didn't know there was an AIR forum. I will post
the answer here instead of duplicating posts. If you are a developer and
have a virtual server on your computer you most likely will run into the AIR
error 2032 when trying to download the MAX companion for the conference
starting tommorow-Wednesday (Monday-Wednesday). You need to either add in a
chunk of code to your server that allows AIR to run or use a different
computer. I used a different computer but I read that someone found the
solution to this error is to add the code to their virtual server. I use
XAMPP, which is a rather popular Virtual Server. Okay well I hope this helps
    anyone in the future.
