  • Outlook2013 email message goes behind main Outlook window when opening PDF attachment with Reader 11

Problem statement: Outlook 2013 email message goes behind main Outlook window when opening PDF attachment with Adobe Reader 11.0.3
    Environment: Windows 8 x64; Office 2013; Adobe Reader 11.0.3
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Open Outlook 2013
    2. Open email message with PDF attachment
    3. Open PDF attachment (with Adobe Reader as default PDF viewer)
    4. Close Adobe Reader
Results: Original email message with PDF attacment now sits behind the main Outlook window
Expected results: Original email message should be on top of main Outlook window as it was when opening the PDF attachment
Note: Adobe Acrobat Profession performs as expected - the original email is on top of the main Outlook window - This only seems to be a problem with Adobe Reader.
Has anyone else experience this problem?  If so, have you found a work-around?
    Thanks,
    Mike

From: new window opens behind existing window - how to modify?
I had this problem happening in Outlook.
If I tried to open an email, it would open behind the main Outlook window.
The same happened if I opened a link in the email - it would open behind the mail.
The fix that was suggested to me was so simple that I still don't believe it.
Right click on the task bar and unlock the taskbar, then lock it again.
Close down Outlook and re-start it.
Problem solved! Just dont know how  or why.

It worked for me with Win 7 and OL 2003. Why? Who cares ... It is working.

  • Can't open PDF documents with Adobe

Every time I try to open up a PDF with Adobe the error message
Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component before launching Acrobat 8 Professional.
We've tried reinstalling and can't figure out what the problem is... Any ideas would be great!

Thank you!  That seemed to do the trick.  Don't think I'd ever have figured that one out!!

  • Open PDF document with Adobe Reader

    Hi everyone,
I am building an application to be published as an AIR app. I need to add a PDF along with the application, so the user needs to have access to this document. When the user clicks to open the PDF is there a way the document can be opened using Adobe Reader and NOT the default browser?
    Thank you for your help!
    Rafa.

  • Fscommand is not working when opening PDF document in browser with Acrobat 9, why?

We embedded a flash application in PDF using screen annotation. In the flash we use fscommand to call methods available in AcroJS.  In acrobat reader 9, if we view the document in Internet Explorer, we receive a security sandbox violation message saying that it cannot make fscommand calls to <unknown> (allowScriptAccess is ). But when we open the document in Firefox, it works fine.

Have a read of this article on the web:
    http://www.actionscript.org/resources/articles/99/1/FS-Command-JavaScript-Library/Page1.ht ml
The part that caught my eye was the following:
"...These methods will not work with Internet Explorer on Macs. This lack of functionality is a brower issue with communication with plugins and cannot be resolved by anyone except MicroSoft. "
I wonder if the same is true for Windows?

  • Problem opening pdf documents with reader

We have an hp computer running on windows 8.  It came with adobe reader installed which worked fine until about a month ago.  Since then when you try to open a pdf document on an online page, a message comes up "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader.  If it is running, pleae exit and try again."  When you try to open other documents that have been saved to the computer a message comes up Adobe Reader Protected Mode which indicates that Adobe Reader cannot open in protected mode due to an incompatibility with your system configuration.  It then asks if you want to open reader with protected mode disabled, always open it that way or not open with protected mode disabled.  If you choose the open it with protected mode disabled this time, a message comes back indicating Acrobat failed to load its Core DLL.
We've uninstalled reader and downloaded apparently successfully the version for windows 8 several times, but without any success - same messages come up.  Sound familiar at all?  I don't want to have to pay a computer guy for something that really seems like it should be an easy fix (though I'm not a tech person, so not sure I find too many fixes easy!).
Thanks in advance for whatever anyone can offer.

  • Error Occurs When Opening PDF Documents Over Home Netrwork

Installation:  XP/SP3; Adobe CS2 Premium (Acrobat Professional 7.1.0); Wireless Home Network with Cisco Router; shared My Documents folder stored on the Desktop PC.
Problem:  PDF documents created locally with Adobe Acrobat and stored in the My Documents folder on the Desktop PC can not be opened by my laptop PC when they are accessed over the home network.  The error message received from Adobe Acrobat is “There was an error opening this document.  Access denied.”  There is no error number.  Click OK is the only option.  However, the same PDF documents can be successfully accessed and opened using the Desktop PC.
PDF documents stored in the shared My Documents folder on the PC that have NOT been created locally using Adobe Acrobat can be successfully opened over the home network and by the Desktop PC.  All other non-PDF files can be successfully access and opened over the home network.
Is there some setting within the Adobe installation that is blocking access to locally created PDF files over my home network?

John - in viewing Properties the key difference is under the PDF Tab.  The
PDF documents that can't be accessed over my home network do not have any
entry for the application that created the document, and the PDF Producer
section is also blank.  I also discovered a PDF document created on my
laptop and stored on my Desktop can be successfully accessed by the laptop
over my home network as well as the Desktop PC, and the PDF Tab has the
correct information.  It would appear there is incorrect option or corrupted
application with the Adobe software on my Desktop.
Can you provide some additional guidance on how best to provide you all the
    creation options in Acrobat?
    Thank you.

  • I have trouble opening PDF documents with Firefox. They will open using IE8 and with the older version of Firefox but not with the new version of Firefox.

Specifically, I am trying to open brokerage statements with Charles Schwab. I go to the link using Firefox and click and all I get is a blank box with ABOUT: BLANK in the header at the top. Yet, I had no trouble viewing the statements with the older version of Firefox and I also have no problem viewing the document using Internet Explorer. Any help you can offer is appreciated. I would rather continue to use Firefox as my browser and not have to use IE.

  • Adobe Crashes When Opening PDF's

It is not consistent however I always the same message: Adobe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Sometimes it happens all the time, sometimes not. Yesterday it happened every single time
I have just tested some different combinations (all from file folders not from emails)
Successfully opened 3 pdf forms (not scanned)
    Failed to open 1 non-scanned & then 1 scanned
    Failed to open two scanned
Failed to open 1 scanned and then 1 non-scanned
    Succeeded in opening two scanned.
im running xp with 4gb ram. and i used the latest adobe reader and adobe acrobat 9.2. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?
    TIA

i would suggest a de-installation of Acrobat 9. Run Microsoft Installer Cleanup to remove any dregs left in the Registry. Disconnect computer from the web, turn off all virus and spyware protection. Then re-install.

  • Open PDF document with a click of a button

    Hello All,
I am trying to open a pdf document which is located on the Unix server when a button is clicked. The Button is of Item Style 'Button', the file is at a location for example /tmp/user/.
Can anyone please suggest with some already existing examples. I looked for a few in the OTN forums but everything was pointing to involving BI Publisher. But my requirement is to open an already existing document with a click of a button.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Kris

    Wahid,
Thanks, the button is not only opening the document but before that the button click should merge the Pdf documents into one. The PDF merge is happening, but when I have a URL in the button its killing the merge functionality.
I used the HttpServletResponse and servletoutput stream to open the merged PDF document. Its working on my local machine, I need to try it on the server.
I was trying to use the XMLIMporter command to upload the OAF oage which already exists in the server. But this did not work for me. Since I am new to OAF may be Im missing something. Below is the XMLIMporter command.
    java oracle.jrad.tools.xml.importer.XMLImporter SearchPG.xml -username apps -password pwd -dbconnection " (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=hostname.com)(PORT=1111))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=ora_sid)))" -rootdir $JAVA_TOP -rootPackage /Server/apps/comn/java/classes/customDir/module/page/webui/
The Search Page is in /customDir/module/page/webui/ this folder. Is Framework bounce needed in this case.
    Thanks again.
    Kris

  • Logged into Creative Cloud. But when opening PDF document, asked to log in to Acrobat.

This has been happening for over a week now.
I'm logged in to my Creative Cloud. One of the apps is Acrobat XI pro. It's fully up-to-date.
I now try to open a PDF document, but instead I get a pop-up telling my something about continuing my "trial" version.
I humour it and proceed and sign in with my Adobe ID and password.
Meanwhile Creative Cloud has logged out.
However, I can now open the PDF file.
After while, the same thing happens again.
    Very, very time-wasting.

Please look at following KB article:
