Adobe Flash 11 General Use

Hello, I have a question regarding the Adobe Flash Player 11 license. In section 3.1 General use, in the product license, it states the following: "You may install and Use one copy of the Software on your Compatible Computer." How does this, if at all, apply to a dual boot computer. I run a Windows 7/ Ubuntu 12.04 computer and have Adobe Flash Player installed on Windows 7. Would it be contrary to the license terms if I also install Adobe Flash in Ubuntu?

Generally with Adobe licensing, a separate boot instance or virtual machine is counted as a "computer."  Since you have two of those, but would run one copy on each, you you should be okay with that.

How do I watch flash based videos without adobe flash installed using Safari?

Once you have Chrome installed, activate the Develop menu in Safari (go to Safari Preferences > Advanced > Show Develop Menu). You then will see under the Develop menu the Open Page With option and Chrome will be listed there.
So each time you open a page with Safari requiring Flash, you use that menu option to open the same page in Chrome.

Thanks for the speedy reply.  I have read so many comments about Flash being incompatible with Lion I was wondering whether to download it or not.  So many sites on the Web still require flash, however, you almost don't have a choice but to download it even if it is incompatible.  I gather a better version of Flash will be available for Lion soon.  Again, thanks for the help.  I will download the latest version of Flash.

pixelation problems occurs in my videos when using adobe flash but using chromes pepper flash no problemes so its definitely adobe problems on my WIndows 8.1

    Problem is:
Flash Player for IE11 (which is the worst browser ever developed - BAR NONE) is a Microsoft product, when it comes right down to it.
Adobe writes the base code and yes, they do collaborate on updates for it, but the gang in Redmond alter the plug-in and add "proprietary" code before embedding it, and at that point it's "their baby".
There are two (2) registry keys - 1 for 32 bit IE and the other for 64 bit IE, as well as a KB patch that prevent all but the most experienced Windows users from ever touching the Flash Player plug-in for IE. So there's NO WAY you could have done a clean install of the ActiveX plug-in in Windows 8. Unless you're an uber-geek, you can only update it through Windows Update.
WIn 8 is an abomination and IE11 made it worse. IE has always been the "problem child" of browsers, failing to handle CSS, Javascript, some PHP and most design "tweaks" that good webmasters can use with other browsers, trouble free.
I have IE8 on XP, 9 on VIsta, 11 on 7, 10 on 8 and 11 on 8.1... but they're all for testing only. I'd have to be out of my mind to ever think of using IE as my primary browser. ActiveX controls have to be disabled formost stuff and that opens millions of security holes in IE.
You've got a good video card and a decent sound card. It's a shame to waste them on a pile of garbage like IE, just because it came with Windows.

  • Adobe flash player uses 250% of my cpu playing videos...how is that possible?

Adobe flash player uses 250% of my cpu playing videos...how is that possible?

That is totally possible if you do not have Flash set to
enable hardware accelerations.  Right click on a playing
Flash video and select settings from the pop up.
Click the little monitor icon at the bottom left corner.
Check the check box "Enable hardware acceleration."
With out this set, the CPU does all the work of decoding the
video instead of the video card.
    update:
As a quick check, went to Hulu and started an episode of
Warehouse 13.  With hardware acceleration enabled, CPU
was at 37% for Flash.  With hardware acceleration disabled,
    this jumped up to 138%.
The test was done on a 2011 Mac Mini Server 2.0 GHz, quad core i7.

  • Adobe Flash CS5 - Using Relative Paths

Hiya Guys, I'm relatively new to Adobe Flash CS5, bu have managed to create an index.swf to link together all my work for this project I've just completed. However, the index.swf, along with all my other files will be relocated, as in burnt onto a CD or moved onto a USB. When the file directories change, the links obviouly break, so I needed some help setting up some relative paths for my files so that they don't break. All my files are stored under a PROJECT file, this then consists of five other folders, consisting of subfolders and each of these subfolders have their own documents. So for example, PROJECT\PARTONE\DATABASES\Database.accdb
I have used absolute file paths, but they keep on breaking when moving directories. Can someone PLEASE help?!

Well I did use actionscript for creating the actual index and effects, but AS3 was used no further for the index. I created an index which had links Part 1, Part 2 ,3,4,5 and clicking on each of them lead to different frames (using the mouseclick, goto and stop at frame (x) function.) Clicking on part one for example would lead to list of documents in that part. Sorry I can't be of any help, I'm totally new to this

Should I manually connect as3lib to my app? How?
I am a newbie to Flash Builder.
Maybe someone could compile this example app so that I could use the result?
    Thank you in advance!

The crypto libraries work ok on the desktop but don't work in Android because some classes like MD5 for example don't run on the mobile version. I had the same problem running a SWF a webview. It used the MD5 and SHA1 classes that don't work in Flash Lite or even Flash Player 11 for Android.
You could try posting what you need to encrypt to a server and use the response. I suggest you use a PHP-specific encryption library. If you really really want to use the crypto library. You could publish a SWF file that does the encoding then saves the output to a web server file then have your app read that file but it's slow.

  • Install Adobe Flash Player using Dos

I'm trying to install using only the command prompt on Windows. The best thing I could do is to usa a .BAT file to call the installation. Is there a way to install it completely using the dos?
    I'm using Windows 7 now.

    Hi,
You can install Flash Player silently using the -install switch (FileName.exe -install).  This only works with the full installers, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows.  It does not work with the online (shim) installer downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer.

  • Is Adobe Flash compatible with WinXP using `Dual Core CPUs ??

Is Adobe Flash compatible with WinXP using Dual Core CPUs ??
I have this in my current system
    WinXP 32bit SP3
    Asus M2N68-AM Plus motherboard
AMD X2 7850 Black Edition Dual Core CPU
    2GB DDR2
WD Caviar SE16 500GB SATA drive
    Onboard VGA **only**
I keep having consistent problems using this new motherboard with a Dual Core CPU
My new motherboard keeps crashing randomly while watching video online.
I can watch a video for about 2 min or even 20min and then the PC randomly crashes
I get this weird mosaic pattern on the screen whenever it crashes and then I have to press Reset to Reboot
And it **only** crashes after streaming a video on any of the websites, YouTube, CBS.com, NBC.com, Hulu.com etc, etc
My last PC never crashed while watching a video online - it was just slow since Adobe player is a hog -- and it was still a 1.8GHZ CPU !!
My last PC is still using version 10.1 for the Adobe Flash player -- and it ***never*** crashes
The most I ever see happen on that one is that the player might occasionly crash in the video window and the error message says to reload the Flash player.
Then I tried this remedy of disabling the Hardware Acceleration in the Adobe Settings  -- but no luck still.
I even downgraded to 10.1, then 10.0 and it still keeps getting these random crashes while watching video
I'm wondering if WinXP 32bit is really compatible with Adobe Flash when using a Dual Core CPU
Before I plunk down $100 for Win7, I'm thinking about trying Ubuntu and see what luck I have.
I haven't seem anything to the contrary yet.
    thanks,

What browser & version do you use?
How exactly does that "crash" manifest itself?  What exact error message are you getting?
Have you tried to update the device drivers for your graphics/video/display adapter?

  • Performance testing using Adobe flash 9.0

Does anyone know a way to Performance test an application

content. Silk Performer currently does not support Adobe flash. It
has support only for Real and Windows media player. Is there a way
of getting around this. Does anyone know how Adobe tests its flash

Please try the following. If you have questions or get stuck,
send me a 'private message' with your full name and contact info.
The number one reason that the ActiveX installer fails to
install on IE are due to incorrect permissions in the system
registry. We have solved hundreds of these Windows system
    permissions with Microsoft’s SubInACL tool.
Note: This is strictly for Windows IE, these issues do not
occur on other browsers such as Firefox.
    www.firefox.com
To fix these Windows system registry permission conflicts you
    can use Microsoft’s SubInACL tool.
Warning: The following solution involves the Windows System
Registry. Editing or manipulating the registry incorrectly can
result in serious system damage which may require re-installation
of the operating system. If you are not comfortable editing the
registry, then take your system to a professional. If you choose to
proceed, then it is essential that you create a complete system
backup and a Windows System Restore Point before proceeding.
Please download Microsoft’s tool to your desktop.
    http://www.supportflash.com/reset_min.zip
    1. Login as the User that has the incorrect permissions in
    the system registry
    2. unzip the “reset_minimal.cmd” and the
    “subinacl.exe” to the desktop
*** Make sure both files are on the desktop
    3. Close out all applications
    4. Run the “reset.cmd” file
    5. It will open a DOS like terminal and start running through
    registry keys
    6. When it is finished it will say “press any key to
    continue”
    7. At this point you can download the latest Flash Player

  • Privacy/Security Issue with Adobe Flash 10

Not sure if anyone has noticed this or not, but there is a
bizarre (if minor) privacy/security issue with Adobe Flash Player
    10. I came across it while attempting to upload a file to Flickr.
Previous versions of AFP do not exhibit this problem.
    Specifics: using Firefox 3.x, Vista.
The problem: When Flickr calls the "open file" dialogue in
Flash 10 (in order to upload files) via the "Upload Photos and
Videos" link, at the bottom of the dialogue, to the right of the
"File Name" box, sits a common UI element that brings up a dropdown
menu of what appear to be (or at least are supposed to be) recently
viewed or downloaded or accessed files. Actually I'm not sure how
Flash 10 compiles or accesses this list of files, but at any rate,
a list of files come up.
The problem is that, as far as I can tell, the list of files
that come up reference a long list of files, some that are very old
and that no longer exist, and that there is no way that I can find
to clear the list. This is a minor security/privacy issue, as
generally there should be a way to prevent a dialogue from
displaying a long list of past-accessed files by clearing a cache
somewhere or other -- imagine if it was impossible to clear the
history of a web browser, for example -- this would be considered a
pretty significant privacy issue. I have tried everything from
flushing the browser cache to uninstalling and reinstalling the
browser to uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Flash to using the
Flash Settings Manager to clear out the Flash saved sites to
turning off Vista indexing to clearing out Vista's Recent Items
list. None of these actions did anything to clear out this list of
files. I can find no references to these files anywhere when I use
Vista Search (with unindexed and system files searched as well),
and I can find no reference to the files anywhere in the registry
(I checked just in case Flash 10 was storing this index in some
really bizarre place.) I've linked to a screenshot below of what
I'm talking about -- most of the files listed below were deleted a
long, long time ago, and so I have no idea why this dialogue refers
    to them.
    Screenshot
Is there a simple work-around for this that I'm unaware of?
Even if there is, there needs to be some more obvious way to clear
out this list. Where is this information being stored, and what
criteria does this list use to "put a file on the list"?

Thanks for putting me on the right scent. That's what I'd
originally thought, too -- it's just that the file-> open dialog
was giving an entirely different list of files with other
applications, so I assumed that it must be Flash that was the
culprit. Turns out the reason it was different with Flickr was
because it was restricting the file results via a long string of
video and picture filetypes that are compatible with the Flickr
    service.
It turns out the information I'm looking for is buried deep
within the registry. The only way to clear out this list of files
is to delete the following key (or specific subkeys):
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ComDlg32\OpenSavePidl MRU
Seems more than a little stupid to store such information in
the registry if security is your concern. Vista beguiles me
    sometimes.

  • Adobe Flash Install Problem

After numerous Flash crashes I tried to uninstall/reinstall newest Flash Player with Mozilla Firefox ~ unsuccessfully. Next I tried to complete a "clean install" of the newest Adobe Flash Player using Internet Explorer on my Windows XP. Uninstall & delete files seems to have worked but, I save the install download to my desktop, choose run program and the run program dialogue box disappears then the install program icon disappears from my desktop and there seems to be no evidence of any Flash Player download at all anywhere in my system that I can find. Despite redoing these steps, the results remain the same. What is happening and what can I do to be able to successfully download Flash Player again? Add ons + security features are not set to prevent this as far as I can tell. I had the latest version with occasional crash problems prior to this attempt to correct that, but now I have nothing. Help!

If you are trying to install Flash Player on Mozilla Firefox, you need to download Flash Player using Firefox. I think you downloaded Flash Player using Internet Explorer. I am not clear on why the downloaded Flash Player file disppears from your machine.
Could you please download Flash Player from the following link:  http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header
    (the second link)
Close all browsers and double-click the file you downloaded.

  • Adobe Flash CS5.5 Crashes while drawing/dragging objects.

I have experienced quite a few crashes trying out Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 Premium when it comes to using Flash Professional CS5.5. I have documented one of the crashes at a pastebin entry, which I will link it and an earlier crash log dump below.
Here's how the crash occurs on my iMac (27-inch, Mid-2011 with AMD 1GB Dedicated Graphics):
1.) Create either a Flash Document - AS 2.0 or AS 3.0 does not matter, though using 3.0 makes it crash faster I've noticed.
2.) Draw shapes. After a while of drawing shapes and making them into groups/objects/symbols...
3.) Drag the shapes around, eventually performance starts to drop over time.
4.) After a while, Flash will freeze and crash, complete with the beach-ball spinning.
    The most recent crash:
    http://pastebin.com/YCWKAbhp
There is my pastebin of my latest crash, using an Adobe Flash document using ActionScript 2.0.
Alternatively, sometimes Flash CS5.5 will crash using ActionScript 3.0 as the language of choice, and oddly much quicker. One of those crashes can be found here: http://pastebin.com/pTSerErw
The irony in both cases is I don't primarily use Flash Professional CS5.5 for programming or scripting at all. I use it for basic vector artwork for an array of projects. Thus, I don't use AS3.0 with this program.
Here's what I have done so far to try to remedy this:
I have updated the Apple JRE/JDK for Mac OS X Lion to the latest revision. I also have cleared out the JRE/JDKs and have started from scratch, to clear out any possible mistakes in installation. I know Java seems to be part of the Flash complilation process, oddly enough
Use ActionScript 2.0 documents helps keep crashes down, oddly. Yet they still happen eventually
Booted into Safe Mode to try to fix permissions and such. No dice
Repaired permissions manually using Disk Utility. No dice
Edited my jvm.ini file on my install to have no memory constraints, instead defaulting to the ones I have manually set for my JRE/JDKs. Specifically for my Java 64-bit JRE/JDK: -Xmx2048m -Xms512m -Xss2048m -d64 using the Java Preferences application in /Application/Utilities/
I have also monitored the console for any activity aside crashes. No dice
Trashed my Preferences and Application Support files
Deleted/Fixed corrupt or duplicate fonts - I did find some duplicates due to Microsoft Office 2011
I also have sought out other errors here on the Adobe Forums/Community. While similar, they are usually for more complicated projects, while mine is simply drawing and copy/pasting stuff seems to be a problem.
In short, I've done my research and still haven't been able to fix it
Oddly enough, most of the time no corruption has been reported due to this. In fact, I usually just have to restart Flash, save often, and if it crashes, repeat until my project is done. I also don't use auto recovery because it actually makes things more confusing and I admittedly don't trust it.
Also, I usually have Flash Professional running, as well as Adium (IM client), Safari, and iTunes. Usually no other programs are running outside background programs or menu bar items.
Does anyone have insight, solutions or possible pointers on how to fix this? It's more of an annoyance - but this is painful since I spent good money on this product. I hope CS6 improves this with full 64-bit support and better memory management.

    Hi,
I am not sure if this is a "Master Page since we use a French version (the functionnality is  named "Gabarit" in French), so here is a printscreen which shows what our users try to do:
Immediately after the drop is completed, InDesign shuts down without further notice as described before.
I fully patched one machine to 7.5.3, rebooted it and it still does not work.
I know 2 GB is a little bit short, but since this is currently a corporate standard in my customer's organization, I will need to be sure that this is the direct and only cause before any upgrade request can be made.
    Thank you for your help.
