Adobe flash 11 installs but not integrated into ie8

I have an XP/32 SP3 system using IE8. I use the latest Avast, and have realplayer 16. I temporarily disabled all add-ons today, and subsequently I have been unable to re-enable as the entry has disappeared from the list of add-ons. I have uninstalled and re-installed IE8, ditto with Adobe Flash using the Adobe Flash removal tool, and then re-installed the latest IE version. I have used the Flash test option and the screen is just greyed out. So clearly although there are no error diagnostics during the install, the add-on is not being integrated into IE8. Hence URLs that require flash show an error.
All M$ updates uptodate.
What could I try?

Thanks for your reply - I did delete the flash/macromed directories as suggested by Adobe prior to the last re-insatll. Here is a screen grab of the flash directory as now.
Shockwave is not appearing as an add-on in IE8.

Am using Windows 7 Pro and IE 9. When I download it says Download Install Finish. When I go to your website it does not show my OS or that Adobe Flash was installed. However my Rebo Uninstaller Pro shows was installed and can be unintalled. ActiveX Filter is not in use. OK I am running Vista 64bit with ie8 firebox and chrome have the latest version of flash player 11.
I have uninstalled it reinstalled flash 11 fine.... but going to youtube or any other site that uses flash player it asked to install. this happens on all browsers I tried on. please help asap

IE, Firefox and Chrome all use a different version of Flash.
IE requires the ActiveX version while Firefox doesn't. They both use a plugin though. You can get them both from here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550
In Google Chrome, the Flash player is embedded and you get it when you install that browser whether you want it or not. It auto updates in the background, so you don't have to bother with that aspect.

Before this happened, every time I would download the latest version of Flash it would show up in Chrome Plug-Ins. I have Version 17 installed but it's not showing up anymore, there's only 1 file when there used to be 2...and when I attempt to watch a video that requires Flash it tells me to upgrade when I already have the latest version... It looks like you have the correct Flash Player and that it's enabled. Since you have Flash Player, usually the thing that's going on is that the website either has faulty code that detects the presence of Flash Player (each website has code that does this), or if you're seeing it everywhere, it's typically a plug-in or extension that prevents that kind of code from working as written.
Have you installed any ad-blocking or anti-tracking plugins (AdBlock Pro, Ghostery, etc)?
In rare instances Chrome can get damaged, but a fresh install will usually clear that up. That's the nuclear option though.

Flash Installer cannot download. Finally get the message, "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed." I already uninstalled the old copy, now I have no Flash Player.

My issue was identical.... days of frustrating downloads and initializing but no installation........ UNTIL I chose to not use the default installer and chose 'Save File'. Now I have the latest Flash installed in OS 10.8.5 no problems !!
This time a long download of 16MB arrived in the downloads folder that actually worked.
Prior to this, all downloads were around 1.6MB and there was no .dmg in the package.
I got my download under where it says "Still having problems?"

Where are you trying to get Flash Player from? Downloading is different from installing but many malicious websites offer to supply Flash Player as a means of installing malicious software and gathering personal information (e.g., passwords). You should get Adobe Flash only from Adobe and this link lets you download the full installer (Mac OS X (Intel) DMG) and run it locally. At that point OS X will ask for your password and if you've been using it successfully for other purposes (e.g., changing some items in System Preferences), it should work there too. my adobe captivate6 installs but does not run on my windows7 dell inspiron with 4gb ram and 500gb hdsk, i downloaded the trial first 32bit and it installed fine and didnt run. so i thought that a full version with a 64bit installation will do the trick, but after that the captivate 6 did not still work on my system. i also tried it on an acer with duo core and the captivate software installed and did not still work. it only shows the captivate flash screen.
a friend installed his on an acer laptop 64bit, i3processor, and it works fine. please i will be glad if i can be helped on how to correct this

Have you tried right clicking on the Cp icon and selecting Run as Administrator? This is something you MUST do in Win7 but was not necessary on Xp.

Similar problem , but my computer displayed stripes! This is a known problem apparently but site only warns you after taking you directly to Adobe, and you have updated the new problematic flash.

How come adobe flash player does not work on my macbook air

when on yahoo and i select to watch a video it doesn't play and any other website with a similar format.

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.

I have problems with Adobe Flash Player 11 NOT working after several attempts to download, then uninstall, & re-install.
I uninstalled the previous versions of Adobe Flash Player from my computer PRIOR to attempting to install the new 11 version, so now I'm unable to view videos, etc.,
I'm using Windows Vista 32 bit, Internet Explorer 9.0 (which I closed when I got error messages during Adobe Flash Player 11 Installation. I've disabled my AVG -Virus also during the installation of Flash Player 11.
FYI, I'm not computer savvy so the YouTube video by Adobe Tech was too complicated to follow AND I'm unable to view (DUH!) it since I have no Flash Player program installed (doesn't make sense!) .

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling some 30 times now ..rebooting, you name it.
I haven't been able to use flash since Adobe kindly shoved that latest update down my computer's throat.
Right after getting the 'successful' installation message I restart IE9 ..go to my channel on youtube and immediately get the message:

I tried Chrome and on two or three it worked but then even after closing out of them ..Chrome slowed down to a crawl and finally informed me that Flash had stopped working.
This has entirely wasted 3 nights of my time. It is 2:30 am and I should have had at least 2hours sleep already to rise at 6:30 but no, thanks this I'm still up and no doubt millions of other computer users are having just as much fun.. Everyone I know that allowed the updates to install ..is having the same problem ..Chrome/IE9/Firefox ...you can truly call it Adobe's Universal Cluster ...
I live with Adobe. At work we have 6 fully Adobied LR4/CS5 & 6/InDesign workstations. I'm a photographer using nothing but Adobe products and quite frankly I feel this is the worst treatment you have ever given your customers.
Please stop the CYA and just fix the damm thing! I realize you didn't write it Chris but surely you can get Adobe management to address this instead of just trying to get their users to try and debug it for the airheads that released it. Has anyone stopped to consider the financial damage being done due to videos not playing the ads that support the sites and no doubt stream revenue to Adobe? These guys have rolled the online experience back 5 years minimum and Adobe will probably pay the price for it. Re-issue a working version and go back to the drawing board!

The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
What can I do ..??

I am in South Africa (Vodacom) and using Nokia N95 8GB (latest nokia firmware)
I have tried installing Flash Lite 3.1 developer edition (but all I get when installing is version 3.0.1(0) on installation. Also not showing in my application folder.
So I download Adobe Distributable Player 1.1 (from: http://www.flashmobileblog.com/2009/06/18/distributable-player-exansion-29-countries/ and http://www.flashmobileblog.com/2009/06/11/adobe-mobile-packager-1-1/)
Finally get it installed (SDK and perl 100%)
So load the "unsigned" SIS file on my phone via Nokia PC Suite
Run Application
Needs to connect to Internet (Internet.GRPS access point) to check version
FAIL.
At this stage I am not happy with Adobe. I follow all the steps, know that my country is listed, have all the right software installed and NOTHING.
Please explain to me what else I can do to get a working applicaiton on my N95 8Gb on Vodacom network in South Africa?

I also downloaded the application from here http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/distributableplayer/distributableplayer_flashlite_ s60_en.sis and installed via Nokia PC Suite
It shows version 3.0.1(0) when installing, BUT I can't find where it installed to (not under applications)
So I can't manually load any new SWF files.
Please give me more advice please?

Adobe Flash Player will not install on OS X ML 10.8.5. I think that problem is in Firewall or Safari Preferences...

Problem is with Adobe On-line installer of Flash player, which is very buggy and almost always crashes with some error. Please use full Off-line installer of Flash player, download from here:
