Adobe Flash and Reader Confusion

Greetings, should Adobe Flash Player and Reader (used in Safari and Preview) be updated manually or are these app's updated via Safari updates from Apple? The Player and Reader applications are not installed but I view some Flash clips via Safari. I use Preview as a PDF viewer, but do these require Adobe security/patch updates be manually applied or are these updated via Snow Leopords' Software Update link? Thank you and regards.

Did you download a pdf viewer from adobe? Is a different program now set to be the default for opening pdfs? When you got the computer did you setup or migrate from an existing mac?

Having Installation troubles with Adobe Flash and Reader

While downloading the Installer I get a "failed to initialize" warning at 50%. I've disabled my antivirus, and my firewall and I still get the same message. I'm in the process of updating my girlfriends laptop and these are the last two things I need done. any help?

Safari 4 and Adobe flash player & reader download

Safari 4 fails to download Adobe flash player & reader files. The automatic download process does not save to the download location and then attempts to open file in the safari browser. No dmg file is saved
The same task in Opera & Firefox is fine.
Everything else with Safari is fine too. Is this some corrupt plist?

Try maintenance.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.

If you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.

I can't get the websites like youtube, facebook, etc to load. everything comes up as just text/words. i've downloaded adobe flash and real player on windows xp.

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details" to expand this section.

Apple dropped playback support for .swf formats in QuickTime almost ten years ago.
Adobe Flash Player is the only way to view them.

I am using a Nvidia 4200M adapter in my Laptop, Driver 266.96, Direct X 11
In my desktop I am using an ATI XFX 6950, latest revision drivers (I am not at home right now so I cant get that info).
The issue I did describe above, but it was a long explanation.
In some flash games the game files load initially and get as far as the "click to start" button. Then the flash area usually goes either all white or all black (usually depending on the falsh game default background color) and then it stays that color. Cant see anything after hitting start (usually most games have an intro video or animation before the game starts, but I cant see any of it.
For the very few games that do start, the flash game or application does not seem to work correctly in that when the rare game starts, it wont save any game files or save files to the pc and so if I exit the game (navigate away to another page or close browser) and then later come back, even though I click the option to save games (and ensure that the flash application slider shows it can save files and lots of space) it does not save and I have to start from the beginning all the time.

The site will NOT let me post in the "flash player" forum. When I open the list of forums to post in, I see flash player listed, but it is grey in color and you can not click on it. Under the scroll box that gives you the choices of forums to post your question in you see this:
"Why are some locations grayed out? This means that you can view content in these locations, but may not have access to post to them. Or, the content type you've chosen is not available there (i.e. trying to put a blog post in a project where blogs are turned off). Flash is not a video format. Flash is a platform that consists of a scripting language, and plug-in or application that presents a canvas and resources to run the scripts. It is possible for Flash to load video and play them in the canvas, but the video itself is a separate resource. Flash became a popular mechanism for video plaback mostly because the plugin was available for multiple browsers and the video codecs that Flash could load were consistent across multiple platforms, which made coding easier. It also made it simpler to add advertising overlays (especially before CSS3), and it was also a popular mechanism to distribute viruses.
In November of 2011, Adobe stopped development of and licensing of the use of Flash on mobile platforms, citing that HTML5 makes the primary uses for Flash obsolete. There is no version of Flash for iOS, or new or future versions of Android.
Adobe further indicated that they will be phasing out Flash plug-in support as well (such as the plugins used in Desktop web browsers), instead aiming to make Flash applications stand-along applications running on the desktop. No time table for that has been set, though they've just recently phased out Linux development. However, Flash is being actively developer for native applications and Adobe makes Flash Builder and AIR that allow you to make native applications for iOS and Android using the Flash development tools.
