Adobe Flash "Can't retreive essential parameter 16291.301.749"

Receiving the error message from Adobe Flash active-x install in IE 8 32-bit on Windows XP 32-bit on several systems at work that were just rebuilt (No previous version of Adobe Flash). All Microsoft patches were installed. All three systems install DLM, DLM starts running, and then I receive the message. I would like more information on this error since this is a work situation and I have multiple systems experiencing the error. Also I have these questions:
Will installing Adobe Flash from the actual exe or msi program disable the Flash update notifications through DLM?
What is the exact cause of the above error message? In other words, what is the "missing essential parameter 16291.301.749"?
Please respond quickly as I cannot deploy these systems until they are patched properly.

Do not use the DLM, especially when deploying Flash Player; download the installers (without DLM) from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html

    Getting error message can't retrieve essential parameter (1629.301.749), after Adobe Download Manager pop up for installation.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled flash player numerous times.  http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ notes I have the latest version installed, but I am unable to access full Adobe Flash Player functions on various sites such as Facebook, etc.  I can't find anything in the Adobe KB.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I'm back.  The dwld worked for 2 days and now I'm back to the notification that I need to update my Flash Player.  I used the link you previously provided http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html to download the .exe again, but I'm getting the same message for both Mozilla & IE.  As I previously stated, there is no file folder in the Registry for Flash Player under HK HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Adobe.  Does anyone know the KEYS for Flash Player, that I could add manually?
    System Information:
    Win XP Home, SP 2

  • "Can't Retrieve Essential Parameter: 16287.301.751"

    Howdy! Yup, the above is a mouthful, eh?!
    Old Computer: RAM 128 (yikes: I know!) Browser IE 6 along with Panda Antivirus
    I just reinstalled the entire operating system Microsoft XP last night (package 3 was updated today)
    The O/S installed Flash 9 (I bet you knew that, didn't you?!). But, I went through all of this last November and saved the uninstallation program.
    I went to a website that said I needed to upgrade to version 10.1 and allowed me to click on it. I *thought* (stooopid me) it would open a page to adobe where I could then choose how to download it (cuz I knew I needed to uninstall the 9 first). But this website automatically downloaded and tried to install the new one before I got the old one uninstalled! So, I cancelled the installation and then uninstalled the version 9. But, when I tried to go back to adobe to install the version 10, the above message was spit out at me (causing me to "spit bullets" of my own!). I've tried to install it again but when I go to the download page, it just sits there and does nothing. I'm assuming my problem was caused by a "crossover" between the attempted installation of version 10 and the uninstall of version 9. Oh, what a tangled web I seem to weave! Any suggestions? Or, am I doomed to have to start over from scratch and reinstall the O/S AGAIN?! Thank you soooo much for your time, effort and energy helping me to fix my schizophrenic computer!!
    Have a gr8 day!

    P.S. The flashplayer version 10 worked perfectly fine on this same exact computer/system until today!

    Hi! Thanks soooo very kindly for your quick response! I'm impressed!!  I
    left the computer on all night and I just came in to check my emails and I
    was STUNNED to find the Adobe box to install the FlashPlayer sitting on my
    screen! I clicked it, thinking nothing would happen, but IT WORKED!!! I don
    t know how it happened or why it happened I only know that I'm thrilled this
    major obstacle somehow rectified itself! But I'm saving your email response
    for future reference!! Thanks again!! Have a gr8 day!!

    Hi Sandra,
    you'll need to edit the security settings to install programs 'Mac App Store and identified developers'
    Open the Systems Preference and go to Security & Privacy.  There will be a section in the 'General' tab for 'Allow apps downloaded from:"  The default selection is 'Mac App Store'.  Change this setting to 'Mac App Store and identified developers".
    This screenshot is taken on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), so it may look slightly different if you're on a different OS X version.

    If possible, temporarily disable your AntiVirus/Windows Smartscreen and run it.  You can also boot into Safe mode with networking, download and run it.
    Virus scan of the file showing it's clean.   Flagged by Symantec/Norton as being non popular.   Though not on this list Windows 8+ Smartscreen will also tend to block the download if Smartscreen is enabled (system-wide)

    The main reasons why any exes I make are flagged.
    1.  Not popular so it has no reputation online of being good/bad so bad is assumed.  Kind of like a person on Ebay with zero feedback.

  • Can I retreive user parameter from SolMan to use in Portal?

    Hi gurus!
    Is there a way to use paramters from Solution Manager (SolMan) in portal? To explain further here is our scenario: we are going to use the portal as an interface for Retail Store in R3. We use SolMan as authentication database for the portal instead of the portals internal one and that works nicely. Further more we have an Application Integrator iview that shows/connect to an external index engine. As of now we logon with ONE user in each store and this Id, which actually is the store number, is sent as an parameter through the URL AppInt iview to the index engine. It's in the form of <LogonUserID> or <User.UserID>, either works fine.
    Now for the problem: we have faced the need to use a separate logon Id for every computer instead of one for each store. This means we no longer can't send the parameter LogonUserId since this no longer is the store number. But we connect the parameter Werks (technical name WRK) to the users in SolMan, the question now is if it's possible to reach this parameter from SolMan "through" User or in another way, if it's possible whatsoever... Does anyone have any suggestions? It will be immencely appriciated.
    Best regards
    Benny Lange

    For my SSM this code works,
    public java.lang.String getPortalContactState( )
              String portalState = "";
              String epUserName = "";
              try {
                   IWDClientUser wdClientUser = WDClientUser.forceLoggedInClientUser();
                   com.sap.security.api.IUser sapUser = wdClientUser.getSAPUser();
                   if (sapUser.getName() != null) {
                        epUserName = sapUser.getName();
                   if (sapUser.getState() != null) {
                        portalState = sapUser.getState();
                   } else {
                        wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException(
                             "State hasn't set for "
                                  + epUserName
                                  + " Please Contact Your System Administrator ",
                             true);
              } catch (Exception ex) {
                   wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess(
                        "Exception=" + ex.getMessage());
              return portalState;

  • Adobe Flash can be installed, but must be install EVERY time I log out and log back in. Why doesn't it stay? How can I fix this? (I have Firefox 6.0.2 and Flash 10.3)

    I have searched through the FAQs and find stuff on "crashing". I have not had any trouble with flash crashing, but I can't keep it installed.
    If I install flash, then it stays as long as I am logged in, even if I close firefox. Once I log out and log back in, I lose Flash and have to re-install it.

    I was having the same issue with installing Flash player 10.3.183.10 in both Firefox 6.0.2 and Explorer 9 -- the Task Manager would show the installer running as a process, but it would never actually install anything. It would just sit there until I killed it or rebooted.
    It seems that there are multiple versions of the separate installers needed. The installer that worked for me in Firefox was
    install_flash_player_10.exe -- a 3,017KB file
    and for Explorer, it was:
    install_flash_player_10_active_x.exe -- a 3,054KB file.
    Neither of those files was sent by the main updater page, nor did that page offer the 239KB uninstall_flash_player.exe, which is needed to uninstall the previous Flash version before one can even begin to try to update it. I had to pound through the messages in the forums to find links to those "full" installers.
    It is working now in both browsers, but jeepers creepers, it shouldn't take all day to find the installers for something that gets updated as often as Flash does.

  • Adobe Flash can't/won't download

    All my plug-ins are blocked and say I need to download the latest version of Flash. But when I attempt to, the file can't download or be written because Macintosh HD is full. That's not true. What do I do?

    Thanks for reply and the link, however I have tried that particular one before and it still isn't working. This is the error message I recieve:
    Safari could not download the file “install_flash_player_osx.dmg” because the disk “Macintosh HD” doesn’t have enough free space.
    It then says I need to delete file from the HD to free up space. I checked HD and I have tons of free space and I repaired my permissions just to be safe.

  • Getting essential parameter error during flash player download

    What is the problem when receiving the message "can't retrieve essential parameter (16248.301.545)" when attempting to download Adobe flash player?

    Hi, Download and SAVE the Uninstaller to your Desktop:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
    Download and SAVE the Installer for IE to your Desktop ( Use the EXE Installer)
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
    Download and SAVE the Installer for the non-IE browsers to your Desktop from the same link as IE (Use the EXE Installer)
    Close all browser windows, disable any messenger services in your system tray(area near the clock)
    If you use Norton or McAfee, disable them also.
    Be sure to use the Administrator Account.
    Then RUN the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
    Then RUN the Installer for IE, then the Installer for the non-IE, then Reboot.
    Test here when finished: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    If you have any questions, provide your OS and browser versions of the non-IE ones when replying back.
    Thanks,

  • How can I get Adobe flash player on my iPhone without going through App Store

  • Lightroom 5.0 and 5.2 - incorrect colors in Adobe Flash galeries

    For unknown reason Lightroom 5 is not able to create the Adobe Flash Galerie type in correct quality. The pictures created are dull and dark and there is typicaly only narow properly colored band on top of the picture. The same JPG set of pictures can be used on the same computer to create Flash galery in Adobe Bridge. I realised that when I open the galery made y Lightroom in Microsoft browser it shows those dull colors. When I open the same galery in Google Chrome, pictures look OK. On the other hand older galeries from about half year ago look OK in both browsers. I have tried to reload Flash player and also upgraded Lightroom 5 to Lightroom 5.2 but it did not solve the problem. Other types on galeries (not the Adobe Flash) can be created by Lightroom in proper quality. Any hint advise how to sort this problem?

    Moving this discussion to the Photoshop Lightroom forum.
    Osprey71 I would recommend leaving both installation entries installed.

  • I often get the message "The Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed / Reload the page to try again" but the plugin check page does not list Adobe Flash.

    The plugin check page does list something called 'Shockwave Flash." I went to the Adobe site and downloaded and installed the latest version of Adobe Flash but it still does not show up on the plugin check page. I don't see how Adobe Flash can be crashing in Firefox when Firefox doesn't even know that it's installed.

    Your System Details List shows the Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0 plugin as installed, so you appear to have the Flash plugin installed.
    You can check the version of the current Flash player here:
    *http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    *http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
    What is the current setting for the Flash plugin on Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins?
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    *Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • Adobe flash & videos on xfinity

    Does anyone know if something other than adobe flash can be used to view xfinity videos? I have removed adobe flash from my computer as I am sure many others have.

    a) First, verify that Flash Player is installed and working on your system.
           Check the Flash Player Version Detection page, here (the link is case-sensitive):  http://adobe.ly/wRILS
    b) If you see the box with version information, you have successfully installed Flash Player and will be able to view Flash content via the Android browser.
    c) If you see a “Get Flash Player” icon instead of the version information, confirm that both Browser Plug-Ins and JavaScript are enabled on your device:
           Open the Browser
           Hit the Menu Button
           Confirm that Enable Javascript is checked
           Choose Settings > Enable Plug-Ins and make sure that it's set to Always On
       If the settings above did not match, this probably fixed the problem.
       Please visit the Flash Player Version Detection Page (http://adobe.ly/wRILS ) again.
           If you see the version information now, you're done!  Congratulations.
    d) If not, it sounds like the installation did not work correctly.
           First uninstall Flash Player by doing the following:
           Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Adobe Flash Player
           Hit Uninstall (or Uninstall Updates) and follow the prompts
           Restart your phone.  This will make sure that anything that might be keeping the Flash Player binary locked is no longer running.
           Once the phone comes back up, open the Market and search for "Flash Player".  Follow the installation prompts.
           Please repeat the steps to confirm that JavaScript and Plug-Ins are enabled, and then check the version detection page.
