Adobe flash payer installer keeps popping up even after I eject it (it's already installed)

Adobe Flash Player installer keeps putting itself on the desktop and every once in a while when I try to open something esle, it pops up too (usually it's either another small drive, or it's over my network when it pops up).  It's already installed and I keep having to remove it from the finder.

Nevermind; I finally found it and put it in the trash (still tried popping up, but then hasn't appeared again since I sent it to the landfil - emptied trash)

  • Adobe Flash Player Installer keeps popping up

Every few minutes a get a pop up of the Adobe Flash Player Installer asking me if I want to install the latest version.
I have already the latest version.
I have already uninstalled the Flash Player and reinstalled it. I have done this several times using the Windows Control Panel Uninstall Program. I have also used the Adobe uninstaller tool from the Adobe website.
I have already configured Adobre Flash Player to never update.
I have already googled for this, apparently not so uncommon, issue.
Running Windows 7 x64, Internet Explorer 10, Chrome
    Thanks,

    Hello Chris,
Sorry for the late reply. I only saw the first part of your message days ago. Perhaps it has been edited since.
This problem keeps happening and it is truly a nightmare. I have tried other things including going to the Registry (which I have not altered).
    In response to your question:
    1. In Windows Task Manager I see
    1.a:  InstallFlashPlayer.exe *32 Description: Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 11.6 r602. Location: C:\Users\Antonio\AppData\Local\Temp\{513974BF-C40D-4C4D-9367-A59EECC45B2D} and
    1.b: FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER64.exe *32 (Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 11.6 r602)  C:\Users\Antonio\AppData\Local\Temp\ICD7.tmp
This second one, I did not see before. It has appeared after I reinstalled Flash Player at the request of Adobe Acrobat when converting to pdf an email that, apparently, contained Flash.
    2. From Process Explorer
    2.a. For InstallFlashPlayer.exe: Parent: FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER64.exe(5108)
    Curent Directory: C:\Users\Antonio\AppData\Local\Temp\ICD7.tmp\

    Path: C:\Users\Antonio\AppData\Local\Temp\{513974BF-C40D-4C4D-9367-A59EECC45B2D}\InstallFlashPl ayer.exe
    2.b. For FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER64.exe: Parent: iexplore.exe(7292)
    Current Directory: C:\Users\Antonio\AppData\Local\Temp\ICD7.tmp\

    Path: C:\Users\Antonio\AppData\Local\Temp\ICD7.tmp\FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER64.exe
One clarification: The installer does not show up at regular intervals. Sometimes it shows up every few minutes and sometimes it takes longer to appear.
Thank you very much for your help

You have 2 versions of "Shockwave Flash" (Adobe Flash Player) installed; one very old version (7.0 r19) and the current version (10.0 r45). You can see both "Shockwave Flash" plugins by going to Tools > Add-ons > Plugins. You can disable the old version 7 there.
    <u>'''To disable the old version'''</u>:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+plugins+with+Firefox#Managing_plugins
    <u>'''Remove the old plugin'''</u>
    1. If the old version 7 is showing as "Adobe Flash Player 7 Plugin" in your Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, you can remove it from there; click on it, click Remove. See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Uninstall-or-change-a-program
    2. If the old version 7 is not shown in Add or Remove programs, see: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins#Manually_uninstalling_a_plugin . Some of the old plugins are in the Plugins folder of your programs Firefox install folder and can be renamed or removed from there manually.

  • The Firefox home screen "Different by design" keeps popping up even after disabling it in preferences.

    <blockquote>Continued here: [[/questions/924123]]</blockquote>
I have installed the new Firefox on my Mac, OSX 10.6.8 by dragging the icon into Applications folder. I launch the app and the Firefox "Different by Design" screen pops up. My previous home page is in a tab behind that. I select "No" on the help improve Firefox question and close the window. Each time I launch Firefox or open a new window then the Firefox home screen returns. I checked the preferences and my company site is set as the home page. It does not matter if I uninstall Firefox, restart the computer and reinstall Firefox. I even tried installing older versions and the same error keeps happening.

    Hi bigmex,
You should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • My Mac Mini/Yosemite is new. But it now has malwares and Mac Keeper keeps popping up even after uninstalling.. Who can help?

    Hi everyone,
My mac mini is new. I have a few issues with it.
But the most annoying is the malwares that infested it now. I have only been using it for about 3 weeks or so. Of course, I thought everything that popped up are safe to click and just standard to click. I don't know yet what's best. Either, I figure out how to remove these ads / malwares or I just thought of reformatting it and start anew with it.
What would you guys recommend and please include steps for me to follow. I'm no techy.
By the way, I do not see these extensions on my Finder files (Conduit, also known as Trovi, MyBrand, or Search Protect, etc.) As a matter of fact, my extensions folder is empty except for the Adblock and AdBlock Plus that I recently installed to kill the ads.  However, it worked but it didn't stop MacKeeper and Facebook ads from popping to a new window each time I click a link, or just a space on a safari)
On YouTube, when I watch a video, every second, the other videos are pushed down for as long as i watch, they are kept being pushed down. These are done by ads that are being stopped by the AB and ABP. yes, the ads do not appear. Just a white space forever adding up. Very frustrating. Please help.
    Thanks in advance!

If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide, AdwareMedic, or Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac - Apple Support.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect everything targeting the Mac.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

  • Adobe Flash Player installer/uninstaller 10.1 r82 AND 102 has stopped working

    Hi there,
First time I've used these forums and I am a bit computer illiterate, so apologies if I come across a bit stupid!
I am using the following systems:
Windows Vista (32 bits I think)
    IE 7
    Adobe / Flash v 10.1.82.76
I was trying to install iTunes on the weekend and was having trouble, so Apple suggested I delete my Local Temp Files and all Apple apps, which I did.
Since then, when I try to access most internet sites, I encounter the following error message:
'Adobe Flash Player installer/uninstaller 10.1 r82 has stopped working'.  I have the option of getting Windows to check the problem or closing the problem, whichever option I select I just go round and round in circles as it keeps coming back to the same error message. As a result, I can't access most websites as the page just freezes and I eventually have to close IE.
I understand this to be a common problem as I've done a few google searches and have come across others with the same problem and have tried various solutions without success.
    I have tried to download Adobe uninstaller (via another PC and saving it on to disk and then onto my desktop), but when I try to run this as administrator I get the following message;
'Adobe Flash Player installer/uninstaller 10.1 r102 has stopped working'.
I am at my wits end, if there is anyone out there that can help it would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

NO, just a windows pop-up with the message:
         "Microsoft Windows
         Adobe Flash player Installer/Uninstaller 10.1
         r85 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
         available."
And then just the option to "close program". This happens at the point of me trying to install the
program from the saved download on my desktop, directly through a website or any other method I've tried.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Flash Player Installer 11.1 will not stop trying to load itself

    Howdy,
Adobe Flash Player Installer 11.1 automatically starts/restarts itself trying to load this program.  I have this program and have the update to it already, but this AFP installer 11.1 keeps trying to load itself until my computer freezes. The .exe files it starts as is FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER.EXE, which then opens another .exe file called InstallerFlashPlayer.exe
I have downloaded the uninstall flash player today and tried to remove everything Flash and Adobe, but still this .exe file keeps popping up.

Does that still happen after you restart Windows?
Try downloading the full installer from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550

  • Adobe Flash 16 Installation Won't Start at All

I am unable to install Adobe Flash onto a Win 7 computer, 64 bit.  I downloaded install_flashplayer16x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe and tried to execute it.  It is listed in the Task Manager; but, nothing happens.  It does not even begin to run the installation wizard.  I tried to install it in Safe Mode.  I ran it as administrator.  I ran it without any browsers running.  I got the same result in every case.  It just shows in Task Manager and nothing else happens.
I installed and ran the latest version of MicrosoftFixit.  I ran it a few times, selecting the option for trouble with installing a program in some cases and uninstalling a program in other cases.  In every case, the list of programs found does not include Adobe Flash, Shockwave Flash, or Flash.
Between Fixit and Adobe's tool to detect if the program is installed, neither provided evidence that it was already installed; so, it doesn't appear to be an issue with remnants of a previously installed version that didn't get uninstalled correctly.
The file name suggests this is for a 32 bit version of the program.  Should a 64 bit version of the program have been downloaded?  I didn't have an option to select a 32 vs 64 bit program.  The web site indicated that it knew the computer is running a 64 bit version of Windows 7; but, the install button still downloaded this file.
Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated.

Same issue here. Got pop up alert that needed to update Flash which had been fine. Tried both run/automatic install in IE11 and downloaded the same offline file as you. The installer window pops up but nothing ever starts. Was able to install successfully on 4 other computers all running Win7 Ultimate and no difference with this one. Been following other leads and have deleted all old Adobe flash and Macromedia files/folders and pretty much scrubbed all evidence that flash was not on here, Have run Malware, Spyware and AV software so the system is all clean, and this is still all I get.
Task manager does show it there also, but after it gets to this far, it does not process anymore
When I get tired of waiting on it, since it won't close by the red "X", I have to end it via Task Manager, and then it takes me to a non-existent web page { http://www.{completionpageurl}.com/?exitcode=-1 }.
Flash has been working great on this PC a couple years and updated regularly, so have no clue to issue now.

    Thanks for any help!

There is no fix. Flash Pro is not compatible with Win 8 even in CS6. There are dependencies with Flash Player components and the way it's handled in Win 8 prevents it from working liek the app expects.

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt.  If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.

  • Adobe Flash Player Installer Box Showing Up Blank?

My laptop is running Windows 7 and I'm trying to install the newest version of Adobe's Flash Player for Firefox 14.0.0.125. Everything goes fine until I get to the Adobe Flash Player Installer box, it just shows up as a blank black box. I've retried many times now and the Installer box still shows up blank. I've even waited to see if it was maybe just slow downloading but I've had the Installer window open for at least an hour now and It's still blank. Is this an issue with my laptop and if so can I get help with it or is this an issue with the Adobe website?
