Adobe Flash Player 13 failed to register on Windows 7.  Why?

I also had the same 'Failed to Register' problem with Flash Player 12 update install. Was only able to recover by doing a system restore which stopped it asking me to update and then failing. I didn't try to update after the system restore so don't know what is on my machine now.
I've downloaded the cleanup from adobe and ran the program as administrator and nothing worked.  I even deleted a registry entry which also had no effect.

Same problem.  Flash player 12 just stopped loading one day in IE (only browser I have on this PC) - all I saw was green boxes any time a flash object like a video would try to load.  So I tried reinstalling Flash Player and it failed consistently stating that it couldn't be registered.  I tried installing the new v13 but I get the same "can't register" errors.  This happens with online or offline installer.  I ran the Flash Uninstaller utility and rebooted but that didn't help.  I found an article in Adobe's knowledge base about running some batch file with SubInACL but that didn't work - it did a bunch of stuff but it still wouldn't install.  That file was made for Flash 11 and I see no sign that one was made for either versions 12 or 13.

Any ideas on how to have it installed on IE8?

Use the MSI installer: http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_ 13_active_x.msi
    It cures this.

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 failed to register

Hello, I don't know much about how Adobe Flash Player works or how to fix this issue. I have a XP Pro SP3 and my flash player worked fine when I first installed it. Then one day, I turned on my laptop and let it load and suddenly my flash player would not work. I then proceeded to uninstall and reinstall the player assuming that would help, however I was wrong. I then tried ridding my computer of all adobe products and was hoping to reinstall them right after rebooting. That was a great idea except excruciating problem, my computer WILL NOT allow me to uninstall Adobe Reader, or Adobe AIR.
When I do try to uninstall the programs, I get this message
" This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found.
Please download the latest version of runtime from
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getair ,
or contact the application author for an updated version. "
I also get a similar message when I try to uninstall Adobe Reader.
I would really appreciate some help with this as it is a major inconvienence for me.
    Thank you in advance,
    Cody518

After going through my control panel and looking at my add/remove programs section, I currently have Adobe AIR, Adobe Download Manager, and Adobe Reader 9.3.1
I've also tried updating my adobe reader and I get an update failed notice saying
" Cannot establish a connection. Please try again later. "
I obviously have a internet connection, so why would this happen?

  • Flash Player 10--failed to register

I have been trying to download and install Adobe Flash Player 10, but cannot make it happen. I have tried with both IE7 & IE8. I have tried installing from your site and also downloading the executable file. From your site I get the error, "Failed to register". If I use the downloaded executable file, Install_Flash_Player_10_ActiveX.zip, the error I get is "Failed to Install." I have read many of the forum threads on this and, as suggested there, have tried going to the DOS command prompt and typing, "secedit...", but DOS says the command does not exist. What can I do?

    the fastest solution is this:
    Open register
    go to:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D27CDB6B-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
select this number with a right click
select permissions and put a V on averybody and anonimous controll and read
than you can install flash 10 from the adobe site as usual
this works on windows 7  and XP

  • Adobe Flash Player download fails

Anyone else having trouble downloading Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.62 dated July 26th? I've been trying for several days and it always fails to download. Not sure how to get more detail about what part failed other than what is listed in the status page, which just says "Failed to download one or more packages."

Well to answer my own question, had a MS patch that also failed to download. Opened up a ticket and was instructed to delete problem patches and either wait for update that night or force update. MS patch showed back up and was able to download. Adobe patch did not come back, so it either no longer applied or was superseeded, I asssume.

Hi there, my adobe flash player keeps on having issues. I downloaded the install file, open it and click install and it instantly fails and comes up with this message.
"Installation failed. Not enough permissions to write disk". Any ideas?

    I think 2 options:
    - try repair disk permissions
    - try to do a flash clean install (https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1267823)

  • Adobe Flash Player (General install error) *****! Mach_Kernal missing?

Never had a problem updating Adobe Flash Player over the last maybe 10 times, It downloads to 50% and then bottoms out with a (general install error) message. So the I uninstalled and tried to re-install to no avail.
I don't know if I updated since updating to 10.8.5 but I read that the (Mach_Kernal) was found on people's (Documents) folder and some people deleted this but I don't remember if I ever got this when I updated. This was a blunder when updating to 10.8.5 and Apple was aware of it.
If that file isn't there is will cause Adobe Flash Player to fail.
I tried several Sudo commmands in Terminal to find the invisible (Mach_Kernel) file but when I type that in it just comes up with a message (No such thing found) Then I tried another Sudo command which would install it if it was missing and it comes up with the same thing (no such file or directory found).
Anyone know where this file resides and what folder it's in and can direct me exactly how to get to it to find out if it's still on my machine? As I said the Sudo commands came up with no results.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Thanks for your responses!

I don't know what you mean by clone your setup. Exactly what the whole OS? on an external drive. I do have an external drive but don't know how to back up the whole OS.
You use a separate partition (much preferably on a different physical drive) to make an exact copy of your current startup drive. At any time, you can choose to boot to it. Time Machine is a nice idea in that it automatically keeps various iterations of your data for you so you can go back to older versions of a document and such, but is (in my personal opinion) the clumsiest way possible to restore a hard drive.
You can create a clone with Disk Utility, SuperDuper!, or Carbon Copy Cloner. The last two are third party apps which can perform extra abilities to make clone backups easier. I use the registered version of SuperDuper! myself, but CCC works just as well.
Once you make a clone of your startup drive, it is just what it implies. You have an exact copy of whatever drive you clone to another drive/partition. So instead of going through the very roundabout way of restoring a drive by reinstalling the OS and attaching a Time Machine backup to the reinstall on the fly, you simply boot to your clone and copy it back. Done. Takes way, WAY less time to get back up and running.
But if I do a re-install from that it'll bring back my lost stuff but will also bring back the old crap again. So what good would it do.
Yes, that could be an issue, but at least you'd be back to your last Time Machine backup state.
Plus No! I searched the App store and OS X Mountain Lion woulnd't even come up.
Open the App Store app and click on Store > View My Account. Click on the Manage link to unhide redownloadable purchases. Unhide Mountain Lion so it appears under the Purchases tab again.
Where did you read that Apple fixed this 10.8.5 Kernal problem?
A few users noted it on these forums about a week after the bug was noticed. They said the 10.8.5 update and full download of ML were fixed. I haven't checked it myself. It's very easy to properly hide the mach_kernel file if necessary.
Enter this in Terminal, or copy/paste the line below into Terminal:
    sudo chflags hidden /mach_kernel
It will then ask for your admin password to complete the command. After that, the kernel should be hidden.
Well it wouldn't do me any good if I brought it back from Time Machine because the error is in the back up.
Yes, that is what would happen. I don't think you have any control over an OS/Time Machine reinstall. You will always be put back at your last backup state.
Furthemore if it's in your past purchases (You should't have to pay for it)! Why would I pay for it when it's in my past purchases with a download button?
You absolutely should not have to. Once purchased, it's yours. I've got Lion and Mountain Lion on bootable USB drives I made from the downloads. I can boot my Mac to those at any time and reinstall the OS. I'm going to do the same thing with Mavericks, just haven't done it yet.

  • Problems installing Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.125.

Can not get my MacBook Pro 17" to install Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.125.  Our iMac installed it.
The system hangs forever looking for resources

Hopefully, you'll be installing the 14.0.0.145 Flash update very soon - however the same problem you experienced persists with that.
Fortunately there is a simple solution.
There appears to be a problem with Adobe Flash Player Install Manager - the simple answer is to let the system install the flash update instead:
When you use the Flash updater, it downloads a disk image to a temp folder (inside /private/var/folders but you don't need to know that). This is automatically mounted (briefly) while the app 'Adobe Flash Player Install Manager' launches. Adobe Flash Player Install Manager is supposed to manage the whole instillation but in some case it gets stuck. If this process fails for you (such as hanging on 95% completion), there is a very simple route forward which doesn't require you to open your browser or manually download anything.
It only requires 3 steps and you can be 100% sure you are getting the correct update - the one Adobe tried to install but failed. I've broken these down into detailed but very simple substeps (further down this post) for anybody who is unsure, but experienced users can probably just follow these three steps:
Force quit Adobe Flash Player Install Manager
Locate and mount the Flash Player Installer disk image with Disk Utility
Locate the Adobe Flash Player installer package within the Install Manager app and run the installation from Finder
    Hope this helps. Enjoy.
Those steps in detail (as carried out in OSX 10.6.8).
    1. Force quit Adobe Flash Player Install Manager
Press these three keys together: Cmd + Option (or Alt) + esc
Select Adobe Flash Player Install Manager in the popup window titled "Force Quit Applications"
Hit return or click the button labelled "Force Quit"
    2. Locate and mount the Flash Player Installer disk image with Disk Utility
Open Disk Utility (in Applications/Utilities folder or find it with Spotlight)
On the left hand side, your attached drives and mounted volumes are listed above a horizontal line. Below that line you should see one or more disk images (named e.g. something.dmg). These are recently accessed disk images - including one containing the adobe updater.
At or near the bottom of that list you should see something called decryptedFile.dmg
Under that you might see a (greyed out) volume image called Flash Player
Double click decryptedFile.dmg (or the Flash Player volume if you can see it - it makes no difference).
This should mount a volume titled "Flash Player" and automatically open a finder window showing the contents.
The volume "Flash Player" will show up in your Finder sidebar and on your desktop (unless you've chosen not to show External Disks in Finder preferences)
    3. Locate the Adobe Flash Player installer package and run the installation from Finder
You should by now have a Finder window open showing the contents of the volume "Flash Player". If not, open a new Finder window and click on Flash Player in the sidebar. The sole contents are an app called Install Adobe Flash Player.
Right click the item "Install Adobe Flash Player" and select "Show Package Contents" from the contextual menu that appears.
This opens a new window showing a folder called "Contents". Open it by double clicking to reveal the contents including a folder called "Resources".
Locate and open the folder "Resources" and look for a file called Adobe Flash Player (Adobe Flash Player.pkg)
This is the Installer Package for the update. Double Click it.
Don't be put off by the words "Welcome to the Adobe Flash Player Installer" - this is not the Adobe Flash Install Manager (the one that failed you earlier) this is Apple's "Installer" app.
Follow the steps to the end then eject the volume Flash Player in the normal way (e.g. Finder sidebar)
Open the Flash Player control panel to check the current version has now been updated.
Don't be put off by "PPAPI Plug-in is not installed" - you can ignore it.
Some steps may go differently if you are running a different version of Mac OS X  - I use 10.6.8
