Adobe Flash Player 9: Installation Problem

I am using MAC OS X 10.3.9. I just downloaded Adobe Flash Player 9.
Instead of step 4 onwards as in the Installation Instructions, i get two files:
-flash player.plugin
-flashplayer.xpt
How do i proceed with the installation?
Thanks
Herman

Hi Herman,
I can't help you I'm afraid!
I have exactly the same problem! I've tried downloading Flash Player 9 several times and I always get the same two files - flash player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt. There's no installer (nothing that looks like the file shown in Adobe's 'installation instructions') so I don't know what to do with the files. I've read somewhere that more than one copy of Flash Player installed can cause glitches so I ran Adobe's Flash Player Uninstaller and then downloaded Flash Player 9 again. But still the same two files arrived!
Is there someone out there who can help please..? I'm absolutely baffled!
Thanks in advance... and fingers crossed x !
Best regards,
Jan (Baffled of Hungerford)

  • Adobe Flash Player 12 installation error

I cannot install Adobe Flash Player 12. I go through all of the setting and just when I think it's about to finish I get the "General Installation Error" message.
I've trashed all the Flash Player folders in my library but it hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I am having the same issue.
This link is probably more useful though not in my case.

I too get the General Installation error and have followed the advice on the Adobe website.
"Close all browsers if an error message appears."
I have closed all browsers (force quit) but still get the "General Installation Error", interesting I also get update Garmin communicator.
I have 18GB free on my drive.
Any ideas what would cause the Mac Installation packages to fail?

  • On 12/23/11 I update the adobe flash player and have had problems since- unexpected closing and freezing. Remove the adobe flash player and those problems resolved. How do I go back to the earlier version of adobe?

I was prompted by Firefox to update my adobe flash player on 12/23/11, which I did. Ever since then the web site has frozen and/or crashed. I run a internet business and can't have this continue. I uninstalled the flash player and the problems have stopped. I would like to reinstall the earlier version of adobe, since that didn't seem to impact the web site.
This is the flash player I installed on the 23rd - Flash Player 10.3 for Mac OS X 10.4-10.5 (Intel)

  • Adobe flash player 14 download problem

I have OS X 10.9.4 and Safari 7.0.6. When I try to download Adobe Flash Player Version 14 I get all the way to the download window.
It just sits there at 0 per cent, and eventually comes up with an error saying to start over. I've tried all of the instructions they have on
the Adobe site concerning Mac, but have been unable to download. This is on a Macbook circa 2010.
    Please Help
P.S. The version 14 automatically is downloaded with the Chrome browser so I'm able to use it there no problem.

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.
    Select:  Anywhere
If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon. You may be prompted for your admin password.
Then download Flash  >  Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
After Flash is installed, make sure to go back to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General then select:  Mac App Store and identified developers
    That helps to prevent malware.
Chrome works because Flash updates are downloaded automatically for Chrome >  http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-google-chrome.html

  • Adobe Flash Player lPlug in problem

When I open a page which requires Flash Player I get a message box indicating "Adobe Flash Player 11.4.r402 has stopped working", with the sub comment "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem."
I have uninstalled my flash player and reinstalled it, no luck. I have removed Firefox and reinstalled with the same problem. I have disabled Flash plugin, after which I try a live feed from BBC this web site informed me I required a plug in, as expected.
I don't have this problem with Internet Explorer.
The actual flash version installed is: 11.4.402.265.
    Any advice?

    Hi kenmaitland,

  • Mac Flash Player 11 installation problems

I installed Flash Player 11.2.202.228 on Mac that has Mac OS 10.6.8 (64-bit). I use Safari. The installation says it was successful. The Adobe Flash Player Help site detects that it was installed but I have no player. I have un-installed, installed numerous times, started up in Safe Mode, re-started the computer, checked my Internet Preferences to allow plug-ins, everything that I could find on this forum but I am having no luck. Please help. I am not an IT type so simple terms will help.

    Hello,
What you meant by Adobe Flash Player Help site detects the Flash Player? Could you please, click the following link?
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
Can you see the rolling ball? If that's the case, Flash Player is working fine. Do you have issues with a specific site?

  • Adobe Flash Player with Safari problem

Youtube says that I need to upgrade my Adobe Flash Player when I have already done so. It also says this on multiple sites where I can watch flash content as well. What do I need to do?

Make sure you are using the correct version of Flash Player.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Note that the latest Flash Player update only works on YouTube with Safari in 32 bit mode - until YouTube correct this.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Flash Player upgrade installation problem - Windows 7 x64 & Firefox

    Hello
It is impossible to upgrade the Flash Player to version 11.7.700.224 or 11.7.700.169
The antivirus DrWeb detects the installer as a virus (Trojan Downloader) and blocks the download process, but even disabling the antivirus and stopping its services (rebooting included) another problem appear:
The OS Windows 7 x64 rejects the installation saying that there is a program or component required that is not present.
The present version of Flash Player that I have installed is 11.4.r402.265, with this version is not problem for install, uninstall or configure, but Firefox claims that the version needs to be upgraded.
Also a new and strange and  disturbing function has appeared.
In the address bar of Firefox at the left has appeared an Adobe icon the request if I want or not to activate Flash for each web page that contain flash elements.
For example: In YouTube each time I open the page is nescessary to reactivate Flash for to allow the video function, if not the video screens reamain in blank.
Many pages that have active contents force to reactivate Flash a lot of times.
For example: The free web storage servers (rapidshare, hotfile, etc) have routines of showing publicity during the login and startup of the upload/download process.
Each time that I need to reactivate Flash the whole page is reset and makes incredibly slow the use of the cloud storage services.

    Hello
Google Chrome has it own Flash Player built in.
So you cannot uninstall it seperatly, only deactivate it.
And it is not Flash Player v11.2.x at this time.

  • I too have ADOBE flash player 11 install problems.

    Hi folks.
Yes, I have seen the other posts.
    I can't get it installed.
I have a version but not the latest.
Sorry I don't know the version I have installed, but it would be about 7 or 8.
I've read other people's posts who have had their problem/s resolved.
    Alas they don't help me.
Originally I didn't know I had to exit FF, so I tried again.
Downloaded the program, exited FF, and ran it.
When I run the .exe file I get this:
    Initialisation encountered errors.
    Failed to initialise.
    And that's that.
File gone, and it doesn't install.
    Anyone?
I hope I am not making a fool of myself, but there again, it may be of benefit if I am for the sake/help of others.

You can also try this Adobe link: https://www.adobe.com/go/getflash
If the OS (XP) and browser (Firefox) is not detected correctly, click '''Do you have a different operating system or browser?''', choose '''Windows (32-bit)'''*** in Step 1, wait a few seconds and choose '''Flash Player 11 for Other Browsers (32 bit)''' in Step 2. Exit Firefox ('''File''' > '''Exit''' or '''Firefox''' button > '''Exit''') and try to install the downloaded file.
