Adobe Flash Player 9 was previously installed with elevated permissions

I have had to disable flash on our websites in order to make
them useable. Looks like flash 9 was updated yesterday and now pops
up a dialog asking to be reinstalled with admin privs. Considering
no one on aprox 250 machines has admin privs, I am now faced with
the task of spending 15 minutes installing and or upgrading flash
on 250 pcs.
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. what kind of QA did you do on this
release, because im pretty pissed right now.
I have tried the fix located here: (
http://dontpokebadgers.com/axaa/
) which approves the classID, but this does not seem to work. I am
sure other people must be experiencing this issue. I require you to
perform one of the following actions:
1) Provide a method to disable auto updating the flash active
x control
2) Provide group policy settings that will enable seemless
installation in the background. This would ideally be registry
based and not have anything to do with an MSI file that I would
need to bundle into a startup script.
3) Roll back flash to a working version that does not have
this horrible bug
4) Silently fail to update flash, as the old flash still
renders the content after the error message has been cleared.
Please respond ASAP. I am sure you are about to get a flood
of complaints as you have now changed the default behavior of the
flash player, which unfortunately, much of the internet now
uses.

There already is a method for disabling auto-update, as well
as control over many other options for your users... So this isn't
a bug at all. This is auto-update doing what it's supposed to do.
As the network admin you have to disable it.. Read on...
First, as a network install you should be using the (free)
licensed distribution version of Flash Player. The licensing is
here:
http://www.adobe.com/licensing/
That will get you EXE installers for your network if you want them.
Most importantly it gives you the legal ability to distribute the
player and then control it using the following....
Flash Player Administrator's Guide:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide.html
Also please keep in mind that these forums are not official
support channels. They're peer-to-peer support. So in the future
please go through

for needs such as this. We do offer support to network admins

my automatic Adobe Flash Player updated tried to install Google Chrome without giving me the opporltunity to opt out?

I witnessed this myself two nights ago while testing an upgrade in Windows 7.
It HAS been reported to development, but... like 99% of the people here, we (myself and the MVP user who reported it) are just Adobe users like you, so reporting it with screenshots was the best we can do.
I use Chrome myself, but only for testing webpages I build, and I've never used their toolbar, because it's an open portal for malware... hence the report filed with DEV.
All we can do now is cross our fingers and hope they have it worked out by the next update cycle.

  • Flash Installer cannot download. "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed."

Flash Installer cannot download. Finally get the message,  "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed." I already uninstalled the old copy, now I have no Flash Player.

My issue was identical.... days of frustrating downloads and initializing but no installation........ UNTIL I chose to not use the default installer and chose 'Save File'. Now I have the latest Flash installed in OS 10.8.5 no problems !!
This time a long download of 16MB arrived in the downloads folder that actually worked.
Prior to this, all downloads were around 1.6MB and there was no .dmg in the package.
I got my download under where it says "Still having problems?"
    Hope this helps you.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

  • Latest Adobe Flash Player version is not compatible with our android tablet - can I install an earlier AFP version that will work?

    Hi...
    ...and thanks for reading this:
We have a Nextbook Premium8 tablet that is hardly two years old. We had to reset to original factory settings, and in doing so lost our Adobe Flash Payer app. Upon trying to re-install AFP, we received a message that our tablet wan not compatible with the latest AFP version.
Is there an earlier, archived AFP version that will work with our tablet, and if so, which version - Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.81) from Sept 10, 2013, possibly???
It seems almost unbelievable that our tablet should be this obsolete for use with Adobe Flash Player after such a short period of only two years.
    Thank you once again,
    Robert Lucas

It's not you, it's us.  We don't make Flash Player for Android anymore.
The last working version published for Android is missing a year and a half of security updates at this point, so I would highly recommend against running it.
The details on why Adobe dropped support for Android are here, but yeah, we haven't released an Android Flash Player since late 2012.

There are a few alternatives that you can use to get Flash on your phone.  They're mostly cloud-based web browsers, where they run Flash in the cloud and stream the content down to your phone.  It works surprisingly well.
A cursory Google search for "Android Browser Flash Player" turns up these options:

When I double click on the tool bar on the bottom of the black screen on fox tab, adobe settings shows up. I delete adobe then the black screen shows the fox tab again and says to view it I need to down load the latest version of adobe flash player.

Tylerdowner, as a moderator, one would think that, prior to adjusting comments/solutions, especially when not having a Mac, you would do more research (bet you know someone with a Mac, to duplicate problem), or pass responding on to a moderator who does have a Mac (I am amazed that you are even a moderator on Mac problems/situations, if you only have access to a PC). Had the solutions above worked, I would not have needed to figure out another solution (we all know the newest release of anything is the most secure). Finally I am open to any fixes (tested) that you can provide, that improve upon mine. As a moderator, maybe you have pull with the Foxtab and/or Adobe people to get them to work out compatibility, and lastly, maybe add a warning at the Foxtab add-ons page, after verifying the problem yourself, with an associate's/friend's Mac.

  • Adobe flash player 10.3 is installed but doesn't appear in plug-ins:what else do I need to do to play videos?

Until a few months ago I was able to play videos in e-mails on my desktop computer, running on windows XP, through Verizon FIOS. Then I kept getting the message that I needed Adobe Flash Player 9.0. I have downloaded the latest version, Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.1, several times, getting the message from Adobe that I am now running that program. However, when I try to play a video, I still get the message that the the plug-in isn't installed, and the table of plug-ins doesn't include Adobe Flash Player. Is there something else that must be done to make the (presumably) installed program active? If so, what is it?

Sorry, Firefox 4 is not compatible with Flash for Android.
We're starting work to possibly support Flash for Android in a future version of Firefox. For details, see: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Fennec/Features/Plugins

  • Adobe Flash Player 10.1 issues, errors with Quickbooks Pro 2010 installation

I recently - uh today - had an agonizing experience installing Quickbooks Pro 2010 because I kept receiving error messages during the Quickbooks installation. It was a new cd that I had purchased a few months ago from Costco, and had been putting off using it, or even installing it.
So today, I tried to install it, and failed repeatedly. I kept getting the same message, Adobe Flash player file is unavailable - with a drop down screen showing the location of the flash player file that the installation software was trying to find so it could continue the installation. I think I recall seeing an error message originally with Adobe Flash Player 10.1, but it's been a long day, so maybe the error was always referring to Flash Player 8.0.  I tried to browse for a new location that the Flash Player file might be located, looking through the Program Files\Adobe and coming up with nothing.
I spent a long time looking through the discussion forums on both Quickbooks and Adobe trying to find the answer, also turning off and on my computer,  ha. And I installed the latest Flash version, Flash Player 10.1, then uninstalled it and then reinstalled it, and then uninstalled it and looked for the obsolete Flash Player 8.0 which I couldn’t find on Adobe’s website, but found links to in two other forums…So basically, I tried to solve this on my own, and it didn't work.
So...I was whining to a friend who suggested I just call Quickbooks technical support. Duh, why didn't I think of that? I guess because the packaging on the new software says that fees may apply if you call customer service.  Well, it doesn't apply to the first call, and also it's crazy to charge someone who can't even install the program. So I called them, and was on hold forever.
    But the problem was solved.
The tech support person, Manish, was able to install Quickbooks by completely bypassing the usual installation procedure.  He checked for compatibility, which was fine, I have Windows XP, etc. and then I believe went to control panel, add or remove programs, and clicked on add programs, and followed the icons with the Wizard to install the latest version of Quickbooks.  The interesting thing here is that QB has some special download to allow remote access during a trouble shooting call. It initially freaked me out, but it worked just fine, since I could see what was happening on my computer screen even though I wasn't the one operating the computer.
I asked Manish why this installation method seemed to work. He said some of the Quickbooks cds have a bad Flash Player program file, and doing it this way seems to bypass it. He also said that Quickbooks should not compatibility issues with Flash 8.0 or Flash 10.1, but there were some problems noted with Flash Player 9.0.  I asked if I would have problems if I uninstalled Flash Player 8.0 and then reinstalled 10.1. He said there shouldn’t be problems, so that’s what I just finished doing.
Hopefully this is helpful for someone else out there in cyberland.
Also, it was kind of helpful, someone else posted on another forum that you could check what flash files you have by going to C:\Windows\System 32\Macromed\Flash, because I couldn’t even find where the Flash Player was installed.  They are not in the Program files under Adobe.

Hi, well that sounds like quite an ordeal. Your Flash files are located in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash with a right click and post back all files listed there. It may be a good idea to just confirm that they are correct.
Then Using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Manage addons and Toolbars & Extensions and look for a box Show all add ons.
You should find Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control..Flash10h.ocx and make sure it is enabled.
The Flash files and that ActiveX Control is Flash Player.
Now if you use another browser, you may want to post that version info as well. Also, what service pack do you have with XP?
    Thanks,

    AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_14au_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg
Install Adobe Flash Player Version 2.0.2.7
    Safari Version 7.0.3
    Hi:
I keep getting the above error when attempting the installation. I used the uninstall program from Adobe, but when I try to reinstall the same error occurs.
I've also twice done the clean install that has worked the last two times I need to upgrade flash at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1267823 to no avail.
    Any advice appreciated!
    Thank you!
PS If anyone has any contacts with Adobe, it would be super if they could ask them to remedy this update problem once and for all. On this particular iMac every single time I try to update I waste an hour or two doing clean installs (which have previously worked, but not this time), a less than productive use of time. Our department IT folks say that we must upgrade because of all of the security flaws in Flash, so we don't have the option of staying with the older tried and true working versions

  • How To Stop Adobe Flash Player 11.5 Repeatedly Installing?

Suddenly, everytime I visit a web page with a Flash video on it Adobe Flash Player 11.5 automatically downloads and re-installs.
I have IE9 (default web browser for main use) and Google Chrome installed.
    Can anyone help?

I've heard at least one report that this might be caused by a Flash ad that was requesting a version of Flash Player that didn't exist.  Could you try clearing your browser and Flash Player cache to see if this still occurs?
How do I clear my Flash Player cache and settings?
We've been trying to discover what version of the installer is being run when this occurs.  Would you be willing to take a short video of this occurring so we can see what's happening?
Finally, could you post the contents of your flashinstall.log file for us to review?
Where do I find the Flash Player installation log on Windows?

  • Adobe Flash Player Update won't install

Have tried several times on my own -- and with Apple Tech support to get the Adobe Flash Player on my I Mac to finish installing. I got it to initialize, but to finish the process, it only goes part way (36% or 28% or 26%) and then locks up and won't go complete the process.  Safari is not on.  Was on tech support call for 2 1/2 hours and we tried different browsers and methods -- still had lock up problem.  How can this get fixed?

Follow these instructions: How to perform a "clean install" of Flash Player in Mac OS X to the letter. You'lll perform an "offline" install and be up to date.
Adobe updates are released on average about every six weeks, not once a week. In fact, the most often they've been this year was in March when a security issue was addressed and an additional Windows update was released ten days after the regular update, but that wouldn't have affected you on a Mac.

  • Adobe Flash Player calling for orginal install path

My work recently pushed out a login script through the AD
domain in which will install the latest Adobe Flash Player Update
    9. The problem we are having in our domain is that Adobe Flash
Player is calling for the original location of the install of Adobe
Flash Player 8 .MSI file which was a network share that does not
    exist anymore.
I have used the Flash uninstaller from Adobe but still having
the same issue. I also tried doing a registry search for "flash"
and removing anything relating to Adobe Flash Player. Still when I
login, and the update attempts to apply it is calling for the
orginal .MSI file that was installed with Adobe Flash 8.
I am also seeing this issue on a Adobe Acrobat Standard 6.0
update (updating via automatic updates) which was also installed
from a network share that no longer exists. Is there a possible fix
so that Adobe will not call for the original install path? Thanks
in advance. FYI this is Windows XP SP2 machines in AD environment.

  • HT5655 Adobe Flash Player not working after installing

I've just bought a brand new macbook pro and have tried to download adobe flash many many times and it just won't work. It tells me that I need adobe Flash player so I click the link, which takes me to the adobe website, I then download it, follow all the prompts and installation is complete. But then I go back and the message appears again that I need adobe flash player!!! I am about to tear my hair out, please help!

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. In rare cases, you might have to log out or reboot to force a Flash update to be recognized. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 6. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 3
If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 4
Open this folder as in Step 3:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 5
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 6
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 7
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    Step 8
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

I have a MacBook, OSX 10.7.5.  When I try to download a document, I am told that I need Adobe Flash Player and that I should download it.
