Adobe Flash Player "Failed to initialize" Problem

I am running XP Pro SP3 on a Dell Dimension 4550 desktop, I cannot get Adobe flash player to install and cannot view a video in any of the browsers. I tried the usual steps, download the Flash player uninstaller, uninstall, remove all files from the FLASH folder e.t.c and doesn't work,, any fixes please?

You should be able to install the latest Flash Player 11.7 if you download and run the offline installer(s) from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header (under the heading Progress bar hangs...).
If you rather install version 10.x you can find it on the archive page http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html

  • Cannot upgrade adobe flash player (failed to initialize), shockwave flash does not appear as a plug in

various web sites stated that I needed to update adobe flash player. I clicked on link and followed instructions, then received the message "installation encountered errors - failed to initialize". So far, I have uninstalled previous versions of flash player and checked my plug ins. Noticed that Shockwave flash does not appear in my plug in list and adobe states that this needs to be active for their flash player.
I am on Windows XP and Firefox version 8.

  • Adobe Flash Player / HP Solution Center Problems!

    Hello
Last night everything was working fine. Until I installed the latest Flash Player 10.1.53.64 RC7. Upon reboot my HP Solution Center was corrupted triggered a pop up error and tried to get me to reinstall it. I did a restore back to earlier in the day and proved it was Adobe Flash Player. My HP Solution Center then worked great. Tried installing the latest Adobe Flash Player again and same problem. So I did another restore and everything is working great still. What conflict or what could be causing this bug in Adobe Flash Player 10.1.53.64 RC7 and HP Solution Center? Are you working on this and will there be a patch soon? Are you aware of this conflict?
I am running indows XP Pro SP3 and my printer is an HP C4580 Photosmart. This same problem also happened on my Wifes Laptop running Windows Vista Home SP2 using the same printer. Very frustrated here.

  • Adobe Flash Player failed to initalize error

Hello there -  I'm so hoping someone can help me out.  I am trying to download Adobe flash player and get an error message - "failed to initialize".  I've tried deleting my old file and still no luck.  I also tried to save it and then go to windows explorer to run the program but can't find it, even when I do a search.  The funny thing is when I go into unintall programs, there's an incon for it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  Can anyone help me out?  I would really love to watch videos on youtube.  :-)  I'm running windows vista and using windows explorer 9. Thanks so much! JodiJ.

Came across this problem a few times...
Did you try deleting the actual files from the install directory manually? I think they are located in c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash
Also came across this... maybe helpful...
I don't know what web browsers you use, so my instructions are for both browser types (Internet Explorer, and other browsers like Firefox).
    go to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580
    download the installer for Internet Explorer and save it to disk;
    if you use other browsers, then also download the other installer and save it to disk;
close all browser windows, then use Windows Explorer to run the installers you downloaded (install_flash_player_10_active_x.exe and possibly install_flash_player_10.exe).
    If you still get errors
please give the exact error message you are getting
list (copy & paste) the contents of the FlashInstall.log file in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash

  • On 12/23/11 I update the adobe flash player and have had problems since- unexpected closing and freezing. Remove the adobe flash player and those problems resolved. How do I go back to the earlier version of adobe?

I was prompted by Firefox to update my adobe flash player on 12/23/11, which I did. Ever since then the web site has frozen and/or crashed. I run a internet business and can't have this continue. I uninstalled the flash player and the problems have stopped. I would like to reinstall the earlier version of adobe, since that didn't seem to impact the web site.
This is the flash player I installed on the 23rd - Flash Player 10.3 for Mac OS X 10.4-10.5 (Intel)

  • Adobe flash player and mountain lion problems

I've just upgrded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and now find that I'm getting messages (TVcatchup) asking for Adobe Flash player although I appear to have successfully installed version 11.3. In other sites I'm asked to install Java although I understood Mountain Lion to contain a Javea equivalent. Any clues out there please?

Sorry guys. I discovered that Safari / Preferences / Security tab I had the 'enable plug - ins' unchecked. I checked it and it solved the problem.
Hope it helps - took me a couple of days before I found it by chance (thrashing around!)

  • Adobe Flash Player Fails to Play Videos

    Hi,
Although I have repeatedly uninstalled and re-installed Adobe Flash Player, I continually get asked by various websites to load it as if it were not there.
Most video clips will not play with the exception of some YouTube videos which ask me to load AFP but then do actually play the video.
I am running Windows 7 64bit on an HP computer.
Can someone please give an old pensioner a clue as to a possible reason why AFP will not work on my machine?
    Thanks and best regards, Chris

    Hi Mike,
No, I am running IE 9.0.8112.16421 (update 9.0.15).
I guess I should be upgrading, but to what?
    Thanks for the replay.

  • Adobe Flash Player has been crashing for months. Can you please correct associated problems?

The following is the message after the successful download from within Microsoft Internet Explorer and Installation of Adobe Flash Player on 8/17/2011 (today): You are now running Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.5
And the following version of Adobe Shockwave Flash Player was downloaded and installed as a plug-in for Mozilla Firefox on 8/15/2011: Shockwave Flash 10.3.183.5
The following link was not working, and in fact access deteriorated since installing the latest Firefox plug-in for Adobe Shockwave Flash Player.
    http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/interchart/interchart.asp?symb=DJIA&time=20
For example it stopped supplying daily data for longer Timelines. Then yesterday the panel on the left side of the webpage appeared garbled. I had been continually getting crashes of the Flash Player for months but never got any notice that I was not up to date.

I find it strange that months of agreeing to send these crash reports did not result in any notifications of updates to Firefox.
Confusion has been introduced because of the similar names for the same application. Microsoft Internet Explorer’s notification states that Adobe Flash Player is not up to date and requests download and installation of the same version that had already been installed within Mozilla Firefox, which refers to this application as Shockwave Flash (of the same version). PLEASE SEE IF USERS CAN BE PROVIDED WITH SOME DISCUSSION OF THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN THESE APPLICATIONS.
What appears currently as fixes on the Firefox website for this application does not fix the problem, but so far it seems that the download from Internet Explorer of Adobe Flash Player (today) fixes the problem of the plug-in. This fix was NOT mentioned within the Mozilla Firefox website. Please note that at this point I do not have enough experience using the “fix” to know if I will not continue to have other problems with this plug-in.
I'm running Windows XP (latest SP and updates) and cannot use Internet Explorer beyond Version 8, since the later versions are apparently only for later MS OSs. Updating to a later OS with older hardware I do not believe is advisable.

  • Adobe Flash Player crashes in all browsers

    Hi,
I have had issues with playing videos before. They would constantly freeze (while the sound continued), it was like I was watching stop motion videos all the time. This was a recent problem that started happening within the last month or so. I got really fed up with it so I looked for a fix for it on google. The result of that search was: I was told the videos might be freezing so often because of the fact that I had two adobe flash players in operation on google chrome. I was told I had to try turning one off in order to get the player to work properly. I turned off one then the other and then both to no avail.
    BUT
then the flash player refused to work on ANY video. I figured it might just be Chrome but it happened in Firefox too. (I'm afraid to update internet explorer because I don't want it to not work there). I keep getting the "shockwave player crashed" error message in Chrome and the equivalent in Firefox. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling adobe but that did nothing.
My operating system is Windows Vista 32bit, I used both Firefox and Chrome web browsers both with the latest versions, I have the latest version of the adobe flash player.
At this point in time I can't get any site that runs on Adobe flash player to work and no videos that run on adobe flash player work. My problem is officially a whole lot worse.
    HELP!!!!!!!!

I'm having the exact same problem.
Until today, I haven't had any problems with flash, and then, this morning, I turned on my computer, went to youtube.com and the page almost immediately froze.  A message popped up saying that flash had become unresponsive and asked if I wanted to close it.
It does this on any website that tries to load flash content.  I've tried both Chrome and IE.  I'm running Win7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Compaq Presario CQ5300Y PC.
Everything is completely up to date.
    UPDATE:
Last night I ran a virus scan.  3 viruses were found so I quarantined them.  I turned off my computer for a couple of minutes and when I turned it back on, everything had been fixed.  Not only is flash working again, a problem I was having with Skype is also fixed.  So if anyone else is having this problem you might want to do a virus scan.
