Get it from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ - always download it from here. If you get popups or any sort of notice that you need to update it, don't follow it (mostly it's OK but there have been some malware doing this) - always go to the Adobe site

There is no flash player for iPad and likely wont be in the near future. Some people use Skyfire and other apps as ways to view flash on a remote server, but reviews are mixed.
Facebook works fine on the iPad browser, but you can also use dedicated apps. Games such as Farmville are also available in app forms, as is YouTube. What movie sites are you trying to view?

You are downloading the Flash installer, which I think itself downloads another installer, which may again download something else that has to run. Adobe's installer is one of the worst pieces of software on the PLANET.
That said, the problem is that you are not actually running the installer and letting it update Flash. Doing so will force you to quit Safari in the process.
Go look for whatever Adobe downloaded to your Downloads folder and run it.

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.

My copy of flash installed as a preferance pane.
If its there you will be able to check the current installed version and set preferences for flash and updating.

3) Quit all applications to ensure nothing is actively using Flash. You can even do the next step while booted to Safe Mode to make sure.

Adobe has killed flash on mobile devices.
If it is a web site requiring flash, look at iswifter in the app store.
Otherwise, download on a computer and transfer the books over.
If it requires adobe's drm for the downloaded textbook -you will need something like blue fire reader.

Right now if you sleep your Air with headphones in, you will lose sound and need to reboot in some peoples instances, and I have verified same.
This of course has nothing to do with Adobe flash player.
Verify this point before uninstalling same.

When I updated the adobe flash player and went to facebook I'm not able to play any of the apps, one says I need to update my version of adobe and it has been updated, now I'm not able to open any of the games on facebook!

After I downloaded Firefox, I attempted to update the top four plugins, I already have adobe flash player, but I went on ahead and downloaded it again with the other three, java and two others.
