Adobe flash player on Safari

Hello... First time question. We have trouble uninstalling flash player version 11.1 to install 11.4 on our MacBook, Mountain Lion  with OSX10.8.1.
We went thought the steps on the Adobe web site and get the installer for the latest version. It's downloaded and installed, but it's not visible as a program in the applications folder.
It's also curious that under Finder there exists Flash Player under Devices with the chevron next to it as though it is in the disc drive. (by clicking the chevron it will 'eject' this )
Soooo, it looks like we are getting some virtual version of the program, otherwise it would show up under Utilities. By the way, all we do have under Utilities is the Flash Player Install Manager, but not Adobe Flash Player, version 11.4.
Is this condition normal? I don't know enough about this to ask the right question so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Flash is not an application and it doesn't install in the Applications folder. It's a web plugin and a preference pane. The sidebar icon represents the disk image on which Flash is distributed. After installing it, eject the disk image and delete the disk image file (DMG) from your Downloads folder.

Adobe Flash is pretty much a 32-bit application. You may be able to fix the problem by going into your Applications folder, and right-clicking on Safari. There is a check box that will allow you to run Safari in 32-bit mode. Try that and see if Flash works in Safari.
I have retired my iMac, and have an HP now, but a friend helped me with the same problem when I upgraded to Snow Leopard. My PC seems to have just one 64-bit browser, that being Internet Explorer. I am using IE9 Beta in 64-bit, and the Beta for Flash "Square" in 64-bit seems to work fine. See link below:

  • Problem updating Adobe Flash Player with Safari

    Hello!
I'm trying to update Adobe Flash Player using Safari on a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.10.1 but every time I download the update the file looks like this:
and when I try to start the installation this window appears:
I tried several different download links but non of them worked. I also uninstalled the Adobe Flash Player and tried to reinstall it but then I have the same problem. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thank you!

For some reason that I have yet to determine, people with Matlab installed start getting .mdlp extensions appended to their downloaded files.  That's what happened here.  Rename the file to remove .mdlp (so that it ends in .dmg), then double-click the file and it should work.

  • How come I need Adobe Flash Player for Safari

I have the latest Macbook Pro and I guess the latest version of Safari.  So why doesn't a current version of Safari play videos on the internet? Why must I download Adobe Flash Player to watch videos on the interne? I can watch a few videos on Youtube, but most of the time I need to switch over to Google Chrome to watch.  I don't need Flash Player with that browser. Can't understand why Safari needs it and Chrome doesn't.

I am switching between Safari to Chrome so I can watch videos but it's becoming a pain. But I've also noticed that some websites have a different look in Chrome. It's as if Chrome is better than Safari. What a bummer. Apple would do itself a favor to offer the best browser since, to me, Apple is the best computer.
I guess I will just have to give in and download Flash if I want to use Safari. The reason I'm reluctant is because on my previous MacBook I always got prompted to download the 'latest Flash player" even though I had the latest Flash. It was such a nuisance. Was hoping with my latest purchase of this computer I'd be all up to date.
Thank you all for your replies.

  • Adobe Flash Player and Safari

    Hello everybody,
I bought new MacBook Pro 13'' last July 2012.
For the past week I can not suddenly view presentations and videos. I have installed adobe flash player (program recommended by Apple).
My second problem is that when I try to open safari get an error "safari quit unexpectedly '
Please ask for help. Do not know what to do.
    Thank you very much indeed

    Not to polemic or anything...
Here is a quote from another link in this forum that also lays the blame on Apple.
Apple has publicly stated that they don't want flash "lite"
    1) Funny that the maker of Safari "lite", has an issue with Adobe making Flash "lite"
    2) Since Apple has never pointed the finger at Adobe, it's no surprise that Adobe will not develop software that would have no access to the App Store (Controlled by Apple)

  • Adobe Flash Player with Safari problem

Youtube says that I need to upgrade my Adobe Flash Player when I have already done so. It also says this on multiple sites where I can watch flash content as well. What do I need to do?

Make sure you are using the correct version of Flash Player.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Note that the latest Flash Player update only works on YouTube with Safari in 32 bit mode - until YouTube correct this.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Adobe Flash Player in Safari on iPad 2

While running Safari on my iPad 2, I am unable to see video content on websites requiring Adobe Flash Player.  I get a message that states something about licensing restrictions with Apple preventing Flash Player from being able to be used on the iPad.  Does that mean I can't view any video content on websites requiring Flash Player, or is there some way to get this to work?

I also came across another app called "Photon Flash Web Browser" that is supposed to be able to show Flash Player content.  My main reason for looking for something like this was so I could watch Hulu in Safari on my iPad, since there's no app for it, only for Hulu+.  But, in the description of the Photon app, it specifically mentions that Hulu may not work.  Most of the reviews of this app in the App store are positive, but I'm still not sure I want to spend the $4.99 for it, if it might not work with Hulu.

  • Last update of Adobe Flash Player for Safari

Adobe flash player last update downloaded and installed but still it doesn't work with Safari. Pls advice as I don't see Adobe in the list of my programms. I followed this instruction http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5655 and it was successfully installed

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 5.
    1. If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, sign in to your YouTube account and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    2. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    3. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    4. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    5. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    6. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    7. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • Won't load adobe flash player say safari is open

Am trying to install adobe flash player on my new machine, but when installing it hangs and tells me to that safari is open - which, as far as I can tell, it isn't. Any help out there?

Neither Safari, or the System Preferences panel can be open when installing Adobe Flash. After initial installation, a new Flash Player panel is added to System Preferences, where you can check for Flash updates on the Flash Player panel advanced tab. On that tab, there are three choices for Updates. Mine is set to Notify.
When you click the Check Now button, and a newer version is available, there are two possible outcomes. Adobe will pop a dialog that allows you to start the download process. When you see this, exit System Preferences. Sometimes, Adobe will direct you to their official Flash download page. This will download into your default download (Downloads) folder, but not automatically install.
To install it, make sure Safari and System Preferences are closed, then single-click the Downloads icon on your Dock, next to the Trash icon. The item at the bottom of the stack that pops up is the Flash Installer. Single-click it, to launch the installer. Once installed, right-click on the installer icon on your Desktop and eject it.

  • Farmville on Facebook requies Adobe Flash player but Safari won't allow

Has anyone found out how to download and install the Adobe Flash player on the iPad? I use Farmville on Facebook and it will not run the page because it requires Adobe's Flash Player. Has anyone else had this problem and what was the fix?

According to Robert Scoble, via TWIT, Zynga president stated all zynga games are going to move to non-flash versions.
Whether this means iPad version or html5 version, who knows.

  • How do I install adobe flash player in Safari?

I enabled pop up windows, but it still gets cancelled in the activity window.

Get the latest Flash player version from Adobe (address supplied by g_wolfman).
Make sure you get the correct version for Mac OS X.
Download it to the desktop. Close all browsers, double-click to start the installer and run it.
It no longer installs directly in any browser; it installs in Macintosh HD / Library / Internet plugins, where it's available to all browsers
Before you start, turn off the 'open safe files' feature in Safari Preferences. That should allow the downloads to complete without Safari interfering.
That should also solve the problem with Firefox downloading. To install Firefox, just drag the FF icon to the Application folder alias in the disk image window.

  • Mac - Unable to install Adobe Flash Player after Safari update

After the latest Safari update (version 8.0.2) for Mac, I received a message that Flash Player was out of date.  I downloaded the latest Flash DMG file and when updating it stalls at 32%. Running the latest update for Yosemite.
I've uninstalled all of Flash player and all files and folders related to Adobe Flash from the computer.  I've turned off my anti-virus and firewall.  It continues to stall at 32%.  I've re-downloaded the flash update and continue to have the problem.
    Any suggestions?
