Adobe Flash Player & passwords

A pop-down asked me if I wanted to update Adobe Flashplayer. Unfortunately, I said yes.
Now I can’t play any videos on the internet.
When I tried to access Adobe Flash Player, it asked for my password – but didn’t accept the one I entered. If I try to uninstall Adobe Flash Player, I also need a password.
I found my apple ID and re-set my password by going to
https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
I was advised that my Apple ID password had been reset.
When I went into System Preferences, though, and tried to set my Apple ID - my new password was ‘incorrect’.
To ‘Change password’, I need to know the old password – which I don’t.
Also, the lock is shut and I can’t click it open ‘to make changes’. The ‘Allow user to reset password using apple ID’ box is not ticked.

When being prompted for passwords to install/remove Flash it is your Admin password not your Apple ID password you're using - yes?
You may want to start over with Flash by using Adobe Flash Player Install Manager in your Utilities folder. When prompted for a password use your Admin pw.
Download the latest version of Flash direct from Adobe: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Once installed, and if you are using Safari, make sure that Enable Plugins is ticked in Safari Preferences>Security tab.
For your Apple ID (not your computer admin pw) have a look at Keychain Access in Utilities. Click on Passwords and then find the entry 'daw.apple.com...........', select it, click the show password box, enter your Admin pw at the prompt and it should show you your Apple ID pw (I think the information I'm giving here is correct). That should confirm what you think your Apple ID pw is.
Then do a restart and try logging in to your iTunes or Mac App Store account.
If that doesn't help resolve your Apple ID problems, not sure what to suggest next other than re-visiting:

I reset my apple ID password here on the website, but my computer isn't recognizing my new password. what should I do? I just need to update my adobe flash player but it keeps asking me for my password but won't take my new password I just updated.

"If you've forgotten the Apple ID password how did you log in to make the last post?"
Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.
As far as the link you provided, I already looked to that for help earlier. It states:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, click the lock to unlock it, then provide an administrator name and password. Select a user, then click Reset Password.
I did these steps, but I don't remember my admin password. The question is: How do I reset my admin password so I can reset my log in password.
Is my admin password the same password I use to log onto this website to post questions? If so, like I said previously, I already reset that password and my computer isnt recognizing it.

  • I have a mac computer.  I am trying to install flash player but get the message "install adobe flash player wants to make changes.  Type your password to allow this." I do not use a password to open the computer.

I have a mac computer that uses no password.  When installing flash player I get the message "Install adobe flash player wants to make changes  Type your password to allow this.  I can't get past this message.

    Hi,
To change your password you will need to open System Preferences, then open Users & Groups, click on Change Password.  Change your password to a temporary one, then when you have finished you do the same procedure to change it back, by typing in the temp password then leaving the new password blank.  Hope this helps.

  • Password for Adobe Flash Player

When I try to 'install' the "New Version" of Adobe Flash Player it tells me to put in my ID and Password. I put in my ID and Password (I use the same one for everything, and I also have it written down) and it shakes it's head and won't let me do it. It says the password is incorrect. What do I have to do to get what Adobe THINKS my password is? I called Tech Support, paid $19 for their wisdom, and he tells me I have to re-set my password, but that it will then re-set ALL my passwords for everything in my keychain!
Why would I want to do that? Adobe is the one that doesn't remember my password, not me. Witness the fact that I was able to sign on to this site using the exact ID and password that I am trying to download Flash Player with.  What is going on????? How do you contact Adobe Customer Service by phone?
Any help would be appreciated. (Hopefully Adobe will read this and contact me? Terrible customer service!)

  • HT4479 to download Adobe Flash player my Apple password didn't work

How do I download Adobe Flash Player if it doesn't recognize my Apple password?

Assuming you are trying to install it on a Mac and not a mobile device, you should be able to click the download link at get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and it should end up in your downloads folder as a DMG file.  No password should have been required so far. Quit Safari then open that DMG file and run the installer. I believe part of the install process will require the username and password of an administrator account. I assume your account is an administrator account. That's about all there is to it.
If that's not what's going on for you, can you tell us when and what is asking for your password.

  • Is my password to install adobe flash player installer 14 the same as my adobe password?

is my password to install adobe flash player 14 the same as my adobe password?

This is my personal machine - an iMac - and the installer insists on a password being used.  I have tried all my passwords and nothing fits.  I have spent hours trying to resolve this problem and so have others.  Please help us to get Flash Player.

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt.  If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.
