Does anyone know what this is about: a popup appeared which
said:
Adobe Flash Player stopped a potentially unsafe operation
The following local application on your computer or network:
javascript:parent.payload1018
is trying to communicate with the Internet-enabled location:
msn.server-sys.com
It then goes on to advise that if I want to allow the
communication I should click on Settings.
This sounds like a virus problem. Can anyone advise me on
this?

Thanks for responding Gary. Pretty funny about the Google
comment - never occurred to me. Anyway I have spent the last 2 days
running many of the online scanners - Kapersky, Symantec, Macafee,
(currently running Nod32) and some malware software: Adaware,
SuperAnitSpyware, and some rootkit detectors and those are the ones
I can remember! Issues were found (some known, some not) and 2
items pointed out were actually installed by me but did not do any
damage (I looked at the registry and other places for telltale
signs of virus deployment as per Symantec instructions for those
flagged virus's but I was ok) however not one of the flagged items
explains the javascript warning. So far my computer has been on for
more than 24 hours and I have not seen any messages appear
(Javascript or otherwise) - especially since I cleaned out my
restore points. It looks like my installed antivirus software
(TrendMicro) worked for the regular virus problems and somehow
Adobe caught the javascript issue. I guess I just have to hope
there is nothing going on that is getting past them. This is what I
get for being a little risky lately. My antivirus and firewall
software are on high alert mode for the time being and we'll see
what happens from here. I take a look at the software you
suggested. If you find anything else out about the javascript error
let me know.

I'm running Flash Media Developer Server (free version of Flash Media Server 3.5 for development purposes) that serves as my localhost for streaming FLV files to my SWF media player. When i try to run an HTML file with the embedded SWF file that accesses an FLV on my localhost server, i get this "Adobe FP has stopped a potentially unsafe operation" security message. I tried adding to the location trust list "localhost", "http://localhost", and even specifying the folder and file name e.g. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3.5\applications\vod\media\myfile.flv and http://localhost/vod/media/myfile.flv. Not even System.security.allowDomain("*"); works which is supposed to allow all domains....

When you run your embedded swf, are you running it from a http location ? i.e. the URL on the browser should be a http location and not file:///
Also, make sure the publish the swf as "access network only" swf and not as a local swf.

We trying to run a small flash movie locally from a local html with some javascripts to communicate to and from the flash movie and it worked fine
however sometime late last year we started seing this message pop up. So it must been some changes in flash and/or in the browsers.
Running IE9 in compaility mode allows the flashmovie to work correctly.
Now we want this to work on Mac as well and I can't get Safari to avoid this.
Main problem is that for whatever reason Flash thinks the local html file is internet-enabled. The error box is not saying a link to an internet site, just like this:
Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.
The following local application on your computer or network:
C:\location\file.swf
is trying to communicate with this Internet-enabled location:
C:\location\file.html
Why can't we no longer run flash movies locally like this. There is no interaction with internet in any of the files.
How do we fix it, having the users add the directory in Trusted locations in Flash Global Settings is not a good way.

Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. Like many others, I am getting this error. However, the people who will be viewing the content do not have access to the internet, nor can they access the Control Panel (computers are locked down) to adjust their Flash Player Settings. How can I resolve this problem for them? Is there a way of saving the files at my end that would prevent this problem at their end? Any help would be appreciated. Lavern

I looked. Unfortunately, the people viewing it have their laptops locked down, so cannot access the Internet, Control Panel or Flash Player Settings. So the suggestions there do not help. Anything that you suggest?
Is there anything I can do at the production end to help?

I get a message that says Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.

I use Articulate to create my player.html files. When I double click my player.html file I get a message that says Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. Then it shows me the name of a swf file in my files that is trying to communicate with the player.html. Then is say s to let this application communicate with the internet , click settings but that doesnt seem to help. I've tried clicking on all the tabs that are under the settings window that opens up but the problem persists

This is from my Mac, but it's the SAME on Windows.
I'll post a windows screen shot as soon as I reboot my laptop.

I'm getting the same problem. No explaination of why, and
downgrading all my security to DANGEROUSLY unsafe levels doesn't
help, nor does setting anything in the settings app. (Have you ever
used a slower application?)
I did find (using a Google search) a blog that pointed me to

I get this message on about a dozen popup screens, then I have to force quit and reopen safari:

I have followed some ideas I have found on Google, but nothing has stopped this from happening.
Any ideas are welcome.

Quit Safari.
Hold the shift key down and relaunch Safari.
Reset Safari.
Launch Safari
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Uncheck the box next to " Remove saved names and passwords".
Click "Reset".
Empty Caches.
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
Turn off Extensions if any, and launch Safari.
Safari > Preferences > Extensions

When I look at pictures in facebook and click out of the pictures I have a message that pops up every time and sometimes shuts down Firefox. It says:

I have run my virus scanner and have not picked anything up. My son downloaded music frost and wire frost (or something like those) and I deleted them before he downloaded anything but it somehow changed my settings of the search provider and home page on firefox and now this happens. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I think what I would do first, since there is a question on what was downloaded/Installed. Go to Control Panel/Programs & Features and take a look to see if any of those programs are Installed. If you see any that you don't want, remove them from there and restart your computer.
AVG can miss malware and don't find everything. I would go to www.malwarebytes.org and DOWNLOAD and SAVE to your Desktop the Free version. Then update it if it doesn't automatically. Then close the window.
Close all browser windows and Disable AVG. Then open Malwarebytes(MBAM) and run a full scan. If anything is found follow their instructions for removing it. When that is done, run a Quick scan with it.

I then click settings and the l.yimg.com site is already allowed. This happens each time I go to the page. I went the flash player help section and it referenced a settings pdf which took me back to the same settings panel I first visited. Still the l.ying site is allowed. What to do?

is NOT for remote sites, it's for Flash files on YOUR machine that are attempting to connect with Internet loacations.
Add YOUR FILE to the "edit locations" dialog box.
Or, test YOUR file by uploading to a Web server... this security warning will NOT kick in... it's only when testing a Flash file from your local machine that this happens.

Overiding "Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation"

Hello,
I have an application that is causing flash player to display
the ""Macromedia Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe
operation" warning message and I was wondering if there was a way
to override this w/ a publishing setting or an actionscript System
command.
It's rather crucial that I kill this error message for our
users.

TabNavigator causes that dialog to crack. When I remove it, dialog doesn't open, add it back in, unsafe dialog pops.
I made it as simple as:
<mx:TabNavigator width="100%" height="100%" />
Removing that one line determines whether dialog opens or not.
Weird.
I created a simple SWF with a panel and tabnavigator on it and attempted to run it but no dialog opens so there is another variable somewhere causing this.

Stopping a potentially unsafe operation?

Hi Guys
I'm working on a SWF as part of a webpage I'm designing. I have a swf banner already on the page but when I test the page in IE9 using the latest player version, IE9 shows a blank box and a message saying I need to update my Flash Player (which is fully up to date!) However the swf does work if I publish it as version 9 or below (although I get a message below the swf saying I must update to a newer Flash Player version!!! I'll speak with the Dreamweaver/ Flash forums about that).
But in all the other browsers I get a security message saying it has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. However when I enter settings it is unclear what to alter to stop this error.
I attach an image of the error warning. Anyone any ideas on what settings I should alter?

You'll probably end up uninstalling version 115, and installing, in its stead version 47. This has worked for many people, including me.

Archived Flash players, including r47 is located here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266
After uninstalling r115, download the zipped Flash 9 archive; You'll get all available Flash 9 versions.
You can trash all versions except r47, which you install.

When running Flash files locally in the browser, they're allowed to access files on your computer or talk to the Internet, but not both. This content is compiled to read local files, but is trying to access the Internet.
You can run a local webserver and access the files that way. If you're technical, that's the best way to go. If not, you can try to click Settings and add the folder to the trusted folders location, but the browsers have changed a lot in the last couple years and the local file support is a pretty big mess because of all the fragmentation in support for this across the browser space. In short, if it doesn't work in your favorite browser, try a couple other ones.

Hi, Thanks. Your Flash Player files and the SWO(if it is vs 10.0.45.2) are correct. Are you having problems on other sites
or just that one? Are you getting a message that is different than "you need to update your Flash Player?"
Many times it is the websites or if you are getting this from a game, then that can be causing the problem. I haven't been
able to determine if the websites that have NOT updated to support the latest Flash Player are just putting out a generic
message or not. You might want to check with the site to see if they support FP vs 10.0.45.2.
You may have an add on that is conflicting also, it is hard to tell. Some anti-virus programs have add ons that may conflict.
Since several users are having problems with Facebook, Farmville, Zynga, etc. my opinion is that it is not your computer.

I don't want to see this dialog.
By the way, sometimes the dialog doesn't allow input so the only way to get rid of it is to end plugin-container.exe. It's like the famous mouse detection error in the flash dialog
