Adobe flash plugin status or update problem

Plugin check says Adobe Flash PlayerRealNetworks(tm) RealDownloader PepperFlashVideoShim Plug-In 1.3.0.208 vulnerable but when I click on the update, I am offered install_flashplayer 17x32_mssa_aaa_aih.exe as a installer. When I run it McAfee security scan says I already have the application installed. Earlyer today a popup said there was a update to Adobe Flash and I installed it but I don't know the version. Plugin check actually has 2 entries for Adobe Flash. The ohher one is Adobe Flash PlayerShockwave Flash 17.0 r0 which is up to date. I am wondering if the update link to the first one is actually trying to update the sercond one (based on the installer name).

hi robey, this is just a bug on the plugincheck page which is mistaking this realplayer plugin for the flash one. please just ignore the notice to upgrade it...

  • Firefox 34.0.5 says Adobe Flash plugin is blocked, but update check reports my Flash plugin (ver. 16.0.0.235) is current. How to fix???

About 1 month ago, I updated Flash and Firefox to most current versions. Firefox 34.0.5, running on WinXP, SP3, shows Adobe Flash plugin as ver. 16.0.0.235, but this is now being blocked again. No other versions of Flash are evident. When I choose option on Flash screen to check plugins are up to date, Firefox reports Flash plugin is up to date.
This program behaviour is wrong and should be fixed. Checking at Adobe, current Flash is 16.0.0.305.
Who or what is broken here? Is Firefox broken, and not reporting correctly that more current Flash plugin is available?
I do not appear to have previous versions of Flash installed on system. This combo of software was working correctly for a while, and then became broken, without a proper path to allow users to resolve it. If Firefox is rigged to "Block" a plugin, then it *MUST* be configured to easily and **CORRECTLY** allow that plugin to be updated. Using most current software, my clicking on the "Check for updates" feature reports that Adobe Flash is most current version. Arrrrgh!!
I am now back to "diagnose and fix broken Firefox+Flash" exercise, which I just went thru.
Best solution here would be to allow user to easily override the "blocking" mechanism. This would assist users who only use Flash video access on trusted sites.
If there is an obvious solution to this current Flash "BLocking" goofery, please inform. Otherwise, if and when I resolve this, I will post a reply to my own question here, indicating what I did to fix this, as it appears to be affecting other Firefox+Flash users, without a clear solution being posted.

Adobe issued 3 new Flash 16 versions in January alone, then another new one - .305 - in February, ''along with one in early December. Five new versions in 2 months time''. So with updating Flash "about 1 month ago", you are probably 2 or 3 versions behind the latest Flash 16 version.
Note that Adobe has its own internal updater, which by default is set to check for an update ''(only)'' once a month. Adobe does their own updates for their software, Firefox just tells you when your version is on the blocklist due to known security issues with the version you have installed. It is up to you to do a manual update between the monthly update check that Flash does for your installation.
The "solution" is for Adobe to fix their stuff. Like maybe an updater that checks for updates more frequently, and not hide their updater user preferences where users don't know where they are and be able to set it for more a frequent update check cycle. ''[Firefox "checks" every time Firefox is launched, as does Chrome]''. Or fix the code in Flash that leads to it being so exploitable, and not have to do 5 separate security fixes in as little as a 2 month time span. ''Flash went almost 2 years prior to Dec 2014 without Mozilla needing to blocklist it, and when Mozilla did first blocklist it in Dec it was / is a soft-block where the user can still use it by using Allow per Flash presentation.''
My advice is to grab the Extended Support Release - Flash Player 13.0.0.269 from here - https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html - over 3/4 down that page. IMO the best version for WinXP users, as the later versions have features for Vista and later versions of Windows - won't work on WinXP or may cause problems on WinXP.

  • Firefox updated to its newest version 12.0. Now my Adobe Flash plugin freezes and hangs every website when it is enabled even though it is the newest version.

Today Firefox updated to its newest version 12.0. Immediately after update, I couldn't load most websites. The web browser would just freeze. I have determined that the culprit is the Adobe Flash Plugin, however; even with the newest version of the plugin, I am still having problems. Any suggestions?

How do I install recommended updates, when I click on adobe flash plugin update now buttons, I hit a dead end on oracle's website, how do I complete the update?

First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
Then download Flash 10.3.183.90 from here - about halfway down the page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
    (Released 6/11/2013) Flash Player 10.3.183.90 (61.1 MB)
IMO, the best version of Flash for WinXP. Adobe kept up with security updates for 10.3 for WinXP users long after Flash 11.0 came out in 2011 for Vista and newer versions of Windows.
Run the uninstaller, then reboot your operating system.
Then you can run the Flash installer, with Firefox closed, of course.
''Note, if you still use IE you'll need to reinstall the ActiveX version of Flash for IE. That uninstaller removes all versions of Flash that might be installed,''

  • Why does FF4.0 experience hang problems when the latest version of the Adobe Flash plugin is enabled?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of Adobe Flash plugin, determined that this is the only version of the plugin recognized by FF, and determined that there is no Adobe extension running. The hang problems occur when opening most all web pages or when clicking on the sidebar and last for 10 to 30+ seconds. If the plugin is disabled, then there are no hang problems.

New plugins have never been downloaded automatically by Firefox, but Firefox scans the registry to search for new plugins.

  • How can I add an Adobe Flash Plugin?

I cannot find an "Adobe Flash Plugin" in my add-ons list. I search that name and it is not offerred to me.
I have updated Firefox and downloaded the update for "Adobe Flash Player". Why won't it add a plug in? I'm running Mac OSX 10.6.8.

Adobe Flashplayer is referred to as Adobe Flash or Flash, but is shown in your Plugins as Shockwave Flash, a name that Adobe assigned. You appear to have the current version installed. You can check your plugins here --> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

  • Firefox 16.0.1 Crashes, Not Responding with Unresponsive Script Warnings and Adobe Flash Plugin Crashes

    Hello,
I'm experiencing some issues with Firefox 16.0.1 which I had also experienced with Firefox 15.0.1.
On numerous occasions Firefox has crashed while attempting to access a website link contained in an AOL e-mail message.
Unrelated to that issue, Firefox has hung up frequently with associated unresponsive script warnings and occasionally with the Adobe Flash Plugin crashing. Some of the unresponsive script warnings are:

What are those script warnings actually telling me and are there any recommendations on how to resolve these issues?
    Thank you,

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Why does the adobe flash plugin crash whenever I try to view a video file?

When attempting to view video files, except youtube, the Adobe Flash plugin always (this is consistent) crashes. I have sent numerous crash reports. I have since the problem first occurred updated firefox at least twice and Adobe Flash has been updated the same number of times. I have not always had this problem, but now it is recurring. Note: the plugin does not crash if I use IE.

    hi WDWPhishFan,
Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?
The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Adobe Flash Plugin

About maybe 4-11 times a day my Adobe Flash Plugin keeps crashing. For some reason is causes my cursor to get stuck or freeze, making me unable to do/click anything. I have to keep shutting down my computer and turning it back on, and 15 mins later it ends up going it again. It really gets annoying. A few weeks ago it ended up doing this 10 times in one day. I contacted Dell and they did something and it worked for a day or two and started yet again. I updated the latest version of Adobe Flash and other updates. What can I do do fix this?

Since updating to Firefox 4 My adobe flash either keeps crashing or when viewing videos that use Flash the sound keeps going but the video freezes for up to 15 seconds, tonight I got the message that the plug in had crashed BUT Firefox crashed totally I had to use CTRL+ALT+DELETE to force it to close BUT when it reopened It was still stuck and no pages would load, I then had the shut down and restart my Windows XP computer, when I restarted Firefox it then came up with the this is embarrassing box and I was able to untick the page that had the problem and it restarted, on 3.6 I had very few problems with Flash crashes but never had video freezing problems but it's regular now with Firefox 4. I have checked for Flash updates and even reinstalled it but to no avail, help please!
