Adobe flash sous machine virtuelle: petit souci

Hello,

  • How do I choose and then install the correct version of Adobe Flash Player for my machine?

First thing - My computer -   PROCESSOR: Intel Celeron 450 @2.2 Ghz,  MEMORY: 4GB,  OS:  Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit,  BROWSER:  IE 9.0.8112.16421
Everything was hunky-dory until the auto-installer updated my version to the Flash Player 11.2 version and that's when it all went downhill.  As soon as it installed that version, none of the TV networks, news networks or Hulu recognized that I had Adobe Flash Player.  In addition, I could no longer create a blank new tab in IE or use the tools button (the little gear symbol) in the upper right hand of an IE window.  Because of the IE problems, I figured it was a problem with IE and went about searching for a solution in that arena.  I finally found something at Microsoft that helped me determine if it was an IE problem and went through the various steps.  The final step required booting into safemode and trying to replicate the problem.  IE worked fine in safemode so, Microsoft determined the problem had to be with outside influences.
After several frustrating attempts with other fixes including virus scanning and firewall settings, the problem persisted.  I then un-installed Flash Player per Adobe's instruction and re-installed the recommended 'latest' version.  The problem remained.  So, when all else had failed I did a full system restore to a point over a month ago, which is prior to the occurence of the problem, while at the same time noting which drivers and programs would be affected.  I already had a sneaking suspicion that it was Flash Player because I read the full system requirements for the recommended version that the auto installer was trying to install (see below).  I then began updating everything one at a time to see if any of the windows/software/driver updates had any affect on IE.  None did until I got to the Adobe Flash Player and updated it.
Now, what I think the problem is:  The auto installer ONLY looks at Operating System and Browser to determine which version of Adobe Flash Player is correct.  In this regard, my machine should use the latest 11.2 version.  HOWEVER, if you look at the full system requirements for the 11.2 versions, you will note that it requires a...... 2.33 Ghz processor!  In this regard, 11.2 is NOT the correct version for my machine as it only has a 2.2 Ghz processor.  And I think therein lies the problem.
So.  I freely admit that I am not a computer expert and am, in fact, so far removed from ever even contemplating wearing such a title that I'm sure all who read this are sitting in your offices having a good laugh at my expense.  As such, I welcome anyone and everyone to tell me what I've done wrong and how I should go about fixing it.  If my deductions are correct, then could someone please tell me how to choose the correct version for my machine and then tell me how to actually install it on my machine.
I know that this is a long post and I thank you all for your patience and any help you choose to offer me.

    Mr. Willener,
    Thank you for your reply.
I did un-install and then re-install per the Adobe recommendations which are what you listed in your reply.  The problem remained until I did a MS Windows restore to a restore point a month or so ago.  The IE problems vanished.  However, now I'm using an outdated and unsupported version that is lower than most of the web pages require for their sites, at least the ones I want to view (they all say I need to upgrade my Flash Player which, when I did, put me in this fix).
    As to:

You can safely ignore that requirement; it is simply not true.
Why would Adobe post a system requirement of 2.33 Ghz for 11.2 if it simply were not true?

  • Can I install the Flash Plugin for Firefox, and the Adobe Flash application program, on the same machine?

PC with Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    Firefox 33.1
Shockwave Flash 15.0.0.223 installed as a Firefox plug-in.
Everything performs perfectly, and I particularly like the fact that when I encounter a file (usually video) on the web, I can ACTIVATE ADOBE FLASH on a once-only basis, rather than ALWAYS FOR THIS SITE.
So here is my question. I encountered a .SWF file on the web, and played it through the plugin. I then downloaded the file to my desktop. From the desktop, there does not seem to be a way to play it through the Firefox Plug-in. Is this correct - am I missing something?
In order to play the file, do I need to install a copy of Shockwave Flash or Adobe Flash Player as a standalone application program on my machine? Is it OK to have both the standalone application and the Firefox plugin on one machine? By the way, I am not interested in using WMP as the player.
    Thanks
    Bill

VLC Player looks like a nice application, and it will play FLV files. However, it will not play .SWF files, which was the subject of my initial query. I admit that I am a little confused about the difference between .SWF and .FLV, since they are both called Flash files. My bad. I would love to find a standalone player that will handle both. Nothing fancy required - just play the file!
As a side note, I downloaded VLC Player from the link you suggested. It installed easily and worked well. However, a Google search reveals that there are a number of sources for corrupted versions of the player, which contain malware. Thank you, Fred, for a straight steer.

  • Getting Adobe Flash to work in Firefox 4 Beta running on a MS Vista machine

I have not been able to successfully update Adobe Flash within the Firefox Beta 4.
The Adobe download runs fine, but the application / plug-in is not successfully running in the browser.
Can anyone provide step-by-step details on how to successfully add Flash to Firefox if the traditional (normal) method is not working.

Can you find the Flash plugin (NPSWF32.DLL) in the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\ folder?
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you need to run a plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen).<br />
    See http://vistasupport.mvps.org/run_as_administrator.htm<br />
You can verify on the [http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ Adobe Flash Players Test Page] that the Flash plugin is installed and working.<br />
You can also check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" and on the about:plugins page, open that page like a website via the location (address) bar.

  • Adobe Flash Player trop de souci !

    Bonjour,
    Merci bonne soirée A+

Yes, it's prudent to keep your Flash up to date if you have it installed.

Only make very sure that the notice to update really comes from Adobe - dont trust any other download link - otherwise you might get infected by the flash back trojan.

Here's a great opportunity to file a feature request. In InDesign CS5.5, Preferences > File Handling displays the location of recovery files, and offers users the option to choose a custom location. It would be a great logical step to make the locations of the various presets and other stored items available and also offer users the option to customize. Care to file a request in the usual place - Adobe Feature Request or Bug Report form.
As preferences, these details are out of the way, yet are much easier to find than searching through a disk's file system.

  • Latest Adobe Flash update for IE - ActiveX 12.0.0.38 - Installation job encountered some failures. Error = 0x80240022.

Hi, just wondering if anyone is seeing these errors with the latest version of Adobe Flash for IE? I've never had this issue before, but have seen it mentioned in previous discussions - don't seem relevant here though.
I'm using SCUP catalogs. Only affects some machines (all machines are W7 SP1 x32). The problem machines have the same GPs applied to them as every other one. They can also download and install all other updates fine - i.e. the latest MS patch Tuesday windows
and word update, and adobe reader 11.0.06 update.
The update actually installs, its just that SCCM doesn't seem to think it is, and it continues trying to install it - and this error message keeps appearing in the logs.

    Apparently Adobe have fixed this:
"An updated SCUP catalog has been posted to the distribution page,
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html."
Not working yet for me, but at least have acknowledged the issue.

  • Adobe Flash Player 32-bit/64-bit ActiveX 12.0.0.38 for IE - failing to install (via SCCM/SCUP)

Hi, I've been using SCCM/SCUP to update Adobe Flash for some now, and it's been working great. Much better than pervious custom scripting methods. However, the most recent version for IE, 12.0.0.38, isn't installing properly on some machines in my workplace (all windows 7 sp1 32-bit), and I can't figure out why. I can't see any pattern witht the machines that have the error.
The FlashInstall.log looks fine, no errors at all. And "Programs & Features" shows that version installed. However, SCCM keeps trying to reinstall and gives this error message: Installation job encountered some failures. Error = 0x80240022. I've read up on this message from previous flash versions, these seem to relate to different issues.
The few machines with Firefox have all successfully installed that version, which I notice for the first time I can remember, is a slightly different version number? Adobe Flash Player 32-bit/64-bit Plugin 12.0.0.43.
Has anyone else seen, this issue with 12.0.0.38 for IE, and have any ideas? Thanks

May be related to issues with logic in detection which Adobe is investigating.

I would like to keep FireFox as my browser at work. However the administration will not allow Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77 to be upgraded of allowed to run the install program. Why cannot FireFox just include the new Flash Player upgrades?

Why won't the admin allow Flash to be installed? By not updating flash their machine is more at risk to attack.

  • I need to uninstall Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 14.0 r0

I need to uninstall Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 14.0 r0 but have looked everywhere for how to do this & can not find out how to do this can someone please help? I am using A Sony Vaio, Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, I use Chrome Version 36.0.1985.143 m.
I want to get it off of my system because ever since I installed it I have had problems with Chrome loading it does not want to load then if I restart my comptuter & I click on chrome  5 windows open up at one time a white box appears saying "Your profile can not be used because it is from a newer browser version of google chrome. Some features may be available. Please specify a different profile directory  or use a different version of chrome" then if you click ok it shuts all the windows down. I have figured a way to get one window to stay open so I can use chrome, now I do have other browser I can use but I do not like them  at all & do not have a flash player since mine is built in with Chrome. So on to the other problem that began as soon as I downloaded this & I understand it may not be this but I still want to get it off of my computer. I also have been having trouble with my flash player error messages: saying it has stopped working constantly, it says upgrade flash text, a plug in shock wave flash isn't responding then in (stop plug in) it wants you to hit.  I have run 3 different Mallware programs through my computer just in case that was one question that was going to be ask. No other programs jave been downloaded wither.
I am not very good with computers so I have to come to places like this for help & I really have to have help explaining what to do because  do not know much about computers other then getting on them & surfing the web & some basic things. When chromes message said specify a different profile directory that went right over m head. So that should give you an idea where I am coming from. I want to thank you in advance & hope I have made sense in what I have written I tried to give all the information that I could.

Your screenshot of task manager clarifies things.
When I replied, I had been looking at the screenshot of the desktop from the original poster, which shows the uninstaller executable and it's properties.  That executable doesn't install anything -- it can just be dragged to the trash; however, that didn't completely align with the behaviors either of you were describing, and we've been trying to figure out what you were talking about.  It wasn't making a lot of sense to me, and it's not a question that I've seen come up before, at least not articulated this way.
FlashUtil32_XX_XX_XX_XX.exe is the sandbox broker for Internet Explorer.  You can read more about the sandbox work here: Flash Player Security with Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10
The description listed in Task Manager is a bug, and the source of the confusion.  We've been doing a lot of work modernizing our build systems, and this is fallout from that work. This is something I'd like to see cleaned up, but it's pretty low on the list of priorities.
The broker service is invoked when Internet Explorer is running in Protected Mode.  On my Windows 7 machine running IE 10, running Flash content in Internet Explorer with Protected Mode enabled causes the broker service to be invoked (this is probably true for previous versions as well, but I didn't test them).  If I disable Protected Mode and restart Internet Explorer, the broker is not invoked, which is expected.
To disable Protected Mode, launch Internet Explorer and choose security.  Uncheck Enable Protected Mode.  Internet Explorer will restart, and you should be able to verify that the broker is no longer invoked when loading content with Flash Player.
I've included a screenshot showing the expected processes in both scenarios below.  As the Flash Player ActiveX control is loaded into an Internet Explorer process, you'll see the child explorer.exe process listed, which hosts the Flash ActiveX control in the process list.
Sandboxing the Flash Player plug-in is an important security mitigation intended to increase the cost of successfully developing and deploying malware.  While it's not a panacea, it significantly raises the bar for attackers.  As I'm sure you've read in the news and trade literature, the threat landscape has evolved significantly over the last few years, and modern security threats and their mitigations are a necessary reality.  New mitigations typically come with some additional processing overhead.  The overhead varies based on the architectural choices made by the particular browser vendors, but the overhead in IE is pretty reasonable.
We haven't published a blog post specific to IE, but if you're interested in the implementation details, the sandbox architecture is similar to what we did with Protected Mode for Firefox on Windows.  The Flash Player process that handles untrusted content runs at Low Integrity, which restricts access to critical system resources in the event that you encounter malware designed to take control of the Flash Player process.  Access to system resources is negotiated through a Medium Integrity broker process.  Without Protected Mode, the Flash Player process handling untrusted content runs at Medium Integrity, making it easier for malware to escalate privileges from a hijacked process.  Depending on the functionality in play, a lot of message-passing can take place between IE, the broker and Flash Player.  We've effectively doubled the number of messages that get passed, plus put a bunch of validation checks in, and all of that consumes CPU.  It also makes your web browsing activity more secure.
Some desktop applications (Yahoo Messenger, for example) also use the ActiveX version of Flash Player installed on your machine.  This could explain why you see Flash Player and the broker invoked unexpectedly.  We're also aware of an issue on Vista where the broker doesn't always exit as expected.  In that instance (and on WinXP), I'd highly recommend that people use Google Chrome for web browsing, as Google has extended some security mitigations that would only be available to Internet Explorer users running in newer versions of Windows, and it doesn't suffer from this specific issue with the broker.

  • Adobe Flash Player does not work in Internet Explorer 10 on Microsoft Windows 8

I understand that Google Chrome and IE10 have their own automatic update system, however, any site requiring me to use adobe flash player to view videos does not work no matter what I try. I have:
Used the desktop version of IE versus that Start version and both provide me with the same message.
Tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but I receive an error message stating that Flash player is already installed and I know that it is not because I have unistalled it. I received this message: Installer encountered an error: 0x80248000
I even used Ccleaner to hopefully remove any files that were left behind.
I have gone to Tools, then compatibility settings, unchecked automatic update list from Microsoft. there are no websites on that list t remove.
I have double-checked that the flash player add-on is enabled.
I have also checked security settings and enabled Scripting for Java
I have also made sure that I disabled ActiveXFiltering.
Basically, I have tried to use Adobe's websites to figure out the issue at the following link: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html#main-pars_header _1
None of the tips fixed my issue.
I have Windows 8, recently upgraded from Windows 7. I have a 64-bit machine, when I tried, just in case I was wrong, to install 32-bit, I receive an error. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone may provide. Is there a customer service number by any chance for software we have not paid for but instead it comes with our computers? I really need to be able to use discussions and watch Teachertube, youtube, and other videos to complete grad schools assignments.
    Please help me!

It sounds like you might have additional software on your system that is interfering with Flash Player.  You mentioned that this is happening for both Chrome and Internet Explorer, correct?  I've got a similar system (Win 8 upgraded from 7, 64bit) and I've never had any problems.
I'd recommend trying to temporarily disable any security, antivirus, firewall software that you have running.  You might also want to try starting in Safe Mode with Networking enabled (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode) to see if Flash works once all utilities and services have been disabled.
Finally, do either of these links play video back?
