Adobe folder in Library

Hi all,
I've been trying to get to the bottom of this reduced battery life on my new Macbook Air.
I found several articles about Flash reducing battery life, and so I removed it. Doing that, I found a folder named Adobe in my Library that is an astonishing 1.1 Gb!!
Most of the files are pre-2009 (I used Time Machine to get my Air going from an 2006 Macbook Pro so inherited a lot of rubbish....!).
I don't use any Adobe software now except for Adobe Reader, which I have to use as I get some PDF forms that Preview just can't open. I still have Photoshop Elements, but never upgraded it and hardly use it.
So, my question is, can I trash that huge folder from the Library without suffering for it?? I know I may have to re-install Reader, but that's no biggy.
Thanks for any advice.

When I try to save another excel file that I have also opened from a password protected zip file, the automatic folder selected is "wzQL.8t0UHS". When I try to save a file with exactly the same name as the file that is missing into the folder "wzQL.8t0UHS" it tells me that the file already exists and asks if I want to replace it.
My assumption was therefore that it was some kind of cache where the file is intact.
When I've done a search on the name of the file I am looking for in Finder, I do not find the file.

  • Why is there no plug-ins folder in my Library/Application Support/Adobe/ folder?

As with many other users, the "Open in Camera Raw" option is grayed out in Bridge CS6.
I downloaded the suggested plug-in and tried to follow the path: Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS6/File Formats folder
    But there's no Plug-Ins folder under Library/Application Support/Adobe.
I'm going to the Library folder that comes up when I click Go while holding down Option.
    Am I doing something wrong?

Okay, I went to Home and then ~/Library and clicked Shift+Command+G -- and there's till no Plug-Ins folder under Library/Application Support/Adobe.

  • Cannot find FlexNet folder in /Library with Photoshop CS5.1

    Hi,
I'm running the trial version of Photoshop CS5.1 on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2, however, I cannot find any FlexNet related folder in /Library/Preferences or /Library/Application Supports. Do latest Adobe products such as Photoshop or Acrobat remove FlexNet licensing?
    Thanks.

Thanks Sparkleberry, but it's more complicated than that. I quit Safari, unsynched Safari from iCloud, but nothing changed. Then after about 15 minutes I could access ~/Library/Safari in TM, but only for some of the backups. I Restored from a bookmarks.plist file from December 22, 2014, but it was the wrong bookmarks (completely different from the bookmarks I had on my MBP). I Restored the empty bookmarks file again.
The trouble is, ~/Library/Safari is not available for most of my previous backups, and there were many between December 22 and this evening.
The net problem is that ~/Library/Safari/bookmarks.plist simply don't seem to be available beyond the most recent backup (and the random December 22 file).
I read somewhere that you can backup from iCloud backups, but I try as I might I cannot find how to do that, if it can be done.
    Thanks!

    Hello there, gleab.
The following Knowledge Base article reviews the ways to import content into iTunes:
Adding music and other content to iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1473
Also keep in mind which formats can be added:
You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats.

  • Adding folder to library...

    Hello all,
I've had a new computer built that has Vista on it... and before I did, I was proud of myself for backing up all my files, including my music, on an external drive.
However, when I try to "File>Add folder to library" and choose the folder "iTunes" in "My Music", I get the following error:
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Of course, Windows won't provide ANY solutions. :-/
Would anybody happen to know what I'm doing wrong? Or is there another way to get the music I backed up to my external drive INTO iTunes on my new computer?
I've even tried making an iTunes folder in the new computer's My Music folder and placing all my music from my external drive to the new iTunes folder...and iTunes won't spot it.
Please help! Thank you very much!
    Ted

Camoracer, thanks very much for answering.
    Okay, what I tried:
I copied all the folders from my iTunes in my external drive to "My Music" folder (located in the folder with my name on it).
I then went to iTunes application and tried File>Add folder to library... and NOTHING was there. None of the folders I had just recently copied.
I'm really confused what I'm doing wrong in a program that is supposedly very easy to use.

  • Is it safe to delete the cache file folder from library

is it safe to delete the cache file folder from library ?

As I understand it Robo doesn't really 'do' third-party
source control. We use SourceGear Vault, but really only as a
repository for the files. We can't really work concurrently because
Robo needs exclusive access to the top level project files. But it
kind of works for us, because we're on opposite sides of the globe.
I see what you're saying on the 'local' versions of (say) the
cpd files conflicting. If anyone else has an informed view, I'm all
ears. We've set it up this way ourselves - I don't know of anyone
doing the same. If someone tells me this is a bad idea, I'm happy
    to think again.
    Cheers!

iTunes for Mac has never had an "Add folder to library" option. This is only available on Windows version.
Select Add to library, select the folder then click OK.
Or drag the folder(s) to the iTunes library at top left of iTunes.

My computer has prompted me to install the newest version of Itunes and now there doesn't appear to be any option to "add folder to library", only "add file to library" so have to do each song individually and very time consuming....help!  Anyone know if I can get this feature back?  Thanks so much, Charlotte

Use CTRL+B to put the top menu bar back on screen. Add File to Library and Add Folder to Library are both under File.

  • Itunes will not add folder to library - no error messages

I have an archive of about 4 thousand albums and have decided to use Itunes to manage them. Windows Media Player is terrible for large archives - it's database is poorly designed. Anyway, when I tell Itunes to add a folder (containing 1000 artists each in its folder)to its library it stops at around seventy every time. Also within the 70 artists folders it ingested I have several albums that didn't ingest.
    what's going on?
on a related subject, Itunes does not seem to be smart enough to know that it already has a song in its library that you are trying to ingest.
    thanks for any help!

      Windows XP Pro

iTUnes for windows has a limit, not sure exactly what number that limit is yet but if you goto file>add folder to library it only catches so many til it reaches a limit then it stops.
Also iTUnes is designed to add whats called "Duplicates" because it takes for granted your the smarter one. If you had to songs that are somewhat the same, one is the original, one is a remix, the tags might not note this. You may have .... Britney SPears - hit me one more time then another one thats a remix BUT the tags say the same thing "Britney SPears - hit me one more time" So instead of stoping the second song from coming in, it lets it in so later you can edit the tags to denote its a remix.
Now since you have such a large swath of music all in there own lil folders, Id think the easy thing to do is let iTUnes auto search your system and add them all. Theres no feature like this built into iTUnes UI but theres a feature like this when you delete a hidden pref file. When this file is deleted and you open itunes again, you get a set up wizard, it in this wizard you get the option to have iTUnes search the whole system for music and media files.
Go here to B noirs post about deleting this pref file http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=531850&tstart=0

  • Can I get rid of the Adobe folder(s) on my Desktop after installing or updating?

Can I get rid of the Adobe folder(s) on my Desktop after installing or updating?

    Hello,
    Yes, you can delete it.
But, the Adobe folder you want to remove is actually the setup for Acrobat. So, you might save it at some other location so that if in future you need to re-install the software, there is no need to download the entire product.

  • Need help in adding a folder library (on external hard drive) to ITunes.  Older versions had "add folder to library" option...

I have an external hard drive that has a huge music library that I wish to make my Library in ITunes.  I have already set the location of the library to the hard drive folder (under Preferences/Advanced).  In the older versions of ITunes there was an "add folder to library" option.  After selecting that option, ITunes would then take a long time to analyze the songs in the new folder and I could then transfer songs to my IPad.  The new ITunes has an "Add File to Library".  I selected *.* to include all artists and songs in the library, but ITunes does not begin to analyze the songs and artists in the hard drive.
How do you get Itunes to recognize the songs and artists in the new song directory?.

As long as you don't have an existing library that is synced with a device or holds oodles of carefully crafted playlists, ratings etc. then...
Hold down shift as you start iTunes. You should get an option to choose or create a library. Click create, browse to root of the external drive and click save so that your library is say X:\iTunes where X: is the letter of your external drive. All new content downloaded to the library will stay on the external drive.
See this user tip for a backup strategy.

  • The iCloud Drive folder in Library/Mobile Documents is taking up way too much space on my startup disk.

The iCloud Drive folder in Library/Mobile Documents is taking up way too much space on my startup disk
I was hoping my files would stay in the cloud and not take up a ton of space on my machine (only a 128gb SSD).  But while performing an overnight time machine backup I came back to find a "Startup Disk Full" error message.  I only have about 20gb used locally but over 200gb in iCloud Drive at the moment.
Is there a way to clear the cache so my files stay on iCloud and not hogging space on my SSD? Or a way to redirect this library to my 2nd hard drive?
I'm using a 15" mid-2012 Macbook Pro with a 1TB hard drive and I've replaced the optical drive with a 128gb SSD for my OS (which is where my library is, hence the difficulty).
    Thank you!

While puttering around after posting this I think I found my personal solution here: http://macs.about.com/od/diyguidesprojects/qt/Move-Your-Home-Folder-To-A-New-Loc ation.htm
I'm just going to move my home folder to my 2nd internal 1TB hard drive to solve my problem.
But my question remains, how can we minimize the amount of local space iCloud Drive ***** up?  I wanted to get the rumored new macbook air that might come out next year but this is a big turn off if iCloud drive is going to overwhelm the SSD in the AIr.
