Adobe forms and interactive forms

Hi Friends,
I am new to adobe forms. Can anybody explain in detail-
1) Why Adobe forms instead of smartforms.
2) Main use of Adobe forms.
3) How to become master in this technlogy.
regards,
phaneendra.

Hi,
Why Adobe forms instead of smartforms.
In US Under section 58 will say all the printing documents(forms) should be accessible by the blind people, so that is the reason SAP has been integrated with Adobe. So we can access adobe designer using the tcode SFP. After you develope a adobe form output by using JAWS software imapaired (blind) people can access the output. Access in the sense that software will read the contents in the output.
Main use of Adobe forms.
Once you activate the ADobe form system will generate the function modue, thouse function module you can call in the print program. so that pdf form will call and appropriate output will generate.
In adobe forms we dont have windows concept, instead we have master pages, body pages, with the help of data xml file you can get the output it means no need to execute the printporgram.
You can write the condition adobe form itself
if it is master page select the event as layout ready and run at client
if it is body page select the event as form ready and run at client
You can get the lot of information in sdn regarding adobe forms

  • How good is the new Adobe Reader IOS for fillable forms and interactive pdfs?

At last adobe reader for ios has been updated so now fillable forms can be completed on ipad/iphone but how good is it?
I've tested a form and reset form/print form and save as buttons do not seem to work.
Form submit seems ok, just wondered what others thought?
Also the new Adobe Reader IOS is now able to display interactive pdfs with buttons such as go to next page etc yet page transitions do not work? Again whats everyone elses opinion on the reader ios update?

My preliminary experience is that Reader does better with forms than with interactivity.
I've written a couple postings on InDesignSecrets.com about PDF readers for tablets. Here's the latest one:
Finding the Best Tablet PDF Reader
You should also check out PDF Expert (US $9.99) which handles interactivity better than Reader if that is important to you.

    Hello,
    Smartform:
To create and maintain forms for mass printing in SAP systems. Besides using the printer for standard output you can also select the Internet (by using a generated HTML output), a fax, or e-mail as the output medium. Smart Forms allows you to execute simple modifications to the form and in the form logic by using simple graphical tools

    Adobe Form:
Interactive forms in PDF format that allow users to fill out the form on the screen and save their entries in XML format in the form. When the SAP system receives the PDF form, it extracts the data saved in the form, and can process it further.

  • How do you convert Smart Forms to Interactive forms

I believe it is possible to convert SAP Smart Forms to Interactive Forms.
Has anyone done this? If so could you tell me the steps?
    Thanks
    Patrick

Let me add that the settings of the wizard that come up are the SAP-recommended ones. They refer to the parts of Smart Forms that migrate relatively easily.
SAP-internal experience over the last 3 years has shown that in most cases Smart Forms are very complex, and that it is therefore easier and less time-consuming to
    1. analyze the Smart Form carefully
    2. separate each business form into a separate form template
    3. re-create the Smart Form in the Interactive Forms solution from scratch.
The hardest thing to overcome within SAP's development community (though very, very important!) was to discard the Smart-Forms- or SAPscript-minded approach to form design/development, and instead accept a new approach.

  • What is the diff b\w open form and start form in scripts.

    Hi,
can any one tell me what is the diff andb\w open form and start form in scripts.when we should use open form and when start form.

    Hi Friend.
I have understood some usefull information and would like to share with you.
Within one transaction, you can open and close several layout sets using OPEN_FORM and
CLOSE_FORM, however not simultaneously. You can use parameters in the OPEN_FORM to control
whether the output is stored in the same print request. But also the SAP spool decides,
depending on several plausibility checks, whether new output is appended to an existing
print request or whether to create a new print request anyway.
    CALL FUNCTION 'OPEN_FORM'
    CALL FUNCTION 'CLOSE_FORM'
    CALL FUNCTION 'OPEN_FORM'
    CALL FUNCTION 'CLOSE_FORM'
You cannot combine ABAP/4 list output and SAPscript output in one print request.
    START A LAYOUT SET AGAIN
Usually a print program does not print only one urging letter or one account statement, but
several layout sets for different customers. To have the output for each customer begin with
the start page of the layout set, you must start the current layout set again and again.
To start a layout set again, you must first end the current layout set and then open the
layout set again. Within one print request, first call the function module END_FORM. It
executes the final processing for the current layout set. Then start the layout set again
using START_FORM. Output then begins again on the start page of the desired layout set.
    CALL FUNCTION 'OPEN_FORM'
    CALL FUNCTION 'START_FORM'
    CALL FUNCTION 'END_FORM'
    CALL FUNCTION 'START_FORM'
    CALL FUNCTION 'END_FORM'
    CALL FUNCTION CLOSE_FORM
    Hope your obstacle is cleared.
If not do ask me again?

  • Source tables for forms and tabular forms must have a primary key.

Why does HTML DB 2.0 return the message
"Source tables for forms and tabular forms must have a primary key."
when trying to generate a "Report and Form" page based on a view defined like "create view <applicationschema>.a as select * from <sourceschema>.b" ?
It should be possible for HTML DB to "see" that the table "<sourceschema>.b" already has a primary key.
    bw - Christian

    Christian,
In the create application wizard, when creating form or tabular form pages, you can only use tables with primary keys, and not views, because that wizard is automatically deriving the primary key from the table definition. If you want to build forms on views or tables without a primary key, you need to use one of the create form wizards while working on an existing application. Those wizards allow you to pick your own column as a primary key column.

  • Access denied for Association form and Initiation Form in SharePoint 2013 Workflows VS2012

    Hi,
We created one simple Sharepoint 2013 approval workflow that has custom association and initiation forms. The workflows works when the workflow is created by the site owner. But when a user with edit permissions try to start a workflow
or associate a new workflow we get Access Denied error message. I believe this permission is somthing todo withthe workflow list wfsvc where these association form and initiation forms reside. What else could be missing here?how do i check permission on the
wfsvc list. please help. User also have create and edit permission on the workflow history and workflow task lists.
    Thank you

If it works with Full control permission then there is something on the site which is causing this issue.
Try to collect HTTPwatch or fiddler trace to check more details.
Also You need to enable Verbose logging to check details. If possible paste the verbose logging in the comments.

What are the differences between SAP Scripts and Smartforms?
SAP Scripts are client dependent whereas Smartforms are client independent.
SAP Scripts require a driver program to display the output whereas in smartforms the form routines can be written so that it is standalone.
An integrated Form Builder helps to design Smartforms more easily than SAP Scripts
An Table Painter and Smartstyles to assist in building up the smartforms
On activation a function module is generated for Smartforms
It is possible to create a Smartform without a main window
Smartforms generates XML output which can be viewed through the web
Multiple page formats is possible in smartforms
How can I insert symbols in Smartforms?
    Select the Text node.
Change Editor (Click the button above Check near the Editor)
    Go to menu Include->Characters->SAP Symbols
Choose the SAP symbol that you want to insert.

There may not be enough space in the window to display the variable, either increase the window dimensions or condense the spaces using &SFSY-FORMPAGES(C)&
What are the various text formatting options in Smartforms?
    &symbol(Z)& Omit Leading Zeros
    &symbol(S)& Omit Leading Sign
&symbol(<)& Display Leading Sign to the Left
&symbol(>)& Display Leading Sign to the Right
    &symbol(C)& Compress Spaces
&symbol(.N)& Display upto N decimal places
    &symbol(T)& Omit thousands separator
    &symbol(R)& Right justified
&symbol(I)& Suppress output of the initial value
How can I provide a background shading to the table?
In the Table Painter, you can specify the color and shading for the table lines.
Where can I provide the input parameters to the smartform?
The input parameters for the smartform can be defined in Global Settings->Form Interface.
The Associated Type must be defined in the ABAP Dictionary.
Where can I define my own global types for the smartform?
The global types(within the smartform) can be defined in Global Settings->Global Definitions->Types
The types defined here will be global through the entire smartform.
Also the form routines can be defined Global Settings->Global Definitions->Form Routines
I have defined my own Program Lines, where I have used a global variable G_TEXT. I get an error G_TEXT is not defined?
Whenever using the global variables in the Program Lines, enter the variable name in Input Parameters if you are going to use(read) the variable. If you are going to both read/write the variable value enter the same in Output Parameters.
I have created a table node for display. Where can I check the condition which must satisfy to display the table?
The conditions can be defined in the Conditions tab. In smartforms all the nodes have a condition tab where you can specify the condition to be satisfied to access the node.
How can I define Page Protect in Smartforms?
To define Page Protect for a node go to the Output options and check the Page Protection checkbox.
What is the difference between Template and Table in Smartforms?
The Template contains a fixed number of rows and columns, where the output is fixed.
The Table can have variable number of rows
Where can I define the paragraph and character format for the smartforms?
The paragraph and character format for the smartforms can be defined in the transaction SMARTSTYLES

  • Result states and interactive forms

    Hello,
I am currently building a process that solely uses interactive forms routed via email to the processors.  Some of the forms include multiple buttons (i.e., "Approve" and "Reject") and based on the button pressed, the process must be routed to different actions.  I originally built this process using online Web Dynpro forms where the result states were specified and set via code.  Then, the action targets would be specified when the block was constructed.  Is there something similar for offline interactive forms?  Right now I am thinking of only having one submit button on the form and have the user specify the result ("approved" or "rejected") using a field on the adobe form.  The value of the field will be submitted up to the process.  The process, in turn, will inspect the value of this parameter and route the process accordingly.  Any thoughts?  I am currently using NW 2004s SP08.
    Thanks,
    Greg

you can have 2 buttons (Approve and Reject) on the form and use Adobe scripting to set the value of Approve or Reject to a hidden field. both buttons would submit to GP with same url. The value then can be used to do content-based routing using the alternative block and decision value CO.

  • Relationship between WebDynproContext and Interactive Form (WebDynpro ABAP)

    Hi,
I created a WebDynpro application including an interactive form. The context of the view contains a node 'Employeeinfo' with a further node 'Employeerecords' and a Attribute pdfSource. The node Employeerecords contains 2 Attributes: Employeename and Position.
    the structure looks like this:
    <i>CONTEXT
    ___Employeeinfo (node)
    ______Employeerecords (node)
    _________Employeename (attribute)
    _________Position (attribute)
    ______pdfSource (attribute)</i>
Employeerecords should be used as a table with the columns Empl.-name and Position. The Content of this table is filled by a Supply-Method.
I bound the properties of the interactive form like this:
    <i>pdfSource-> pdfSource
    datasource-> Employeerecords</i>
The Interface of the interactive Form is XML created by Context of the webDynpro Component.
When I start the application it is showing me an empty form allthough the Content was created correct by the Supply-Method ( I tested this with a WebDynproTable element in the same View). The table seems to be there ( I check this with a seperate color) but the Rows are not created.
It seems to me that there would be no relationship between the WD-Context and the Interactive Form.
Do you think it is a design mistake or a software problem?
<u>I work with the following software components:</u>
    <i>AdobeLifeCycleDesigner 7.1
    Adobe Reader 7.0.9
    SAP NW 04s
    SAP GUI 6.4
    ADS is working fine.</i>
    Could you please help me?
    Thank you,
    Nadin

    <b>check the following points</b>
<b>(this is an old version of requirements but still will help)</b>
<b>2-1</b> The SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (Support Package Stack 11) including Adobe LiveCycle Designer (forms design tool) is installed on your computer.
<b>2-2</b> You have access to the SAP J2EE Engine (Release 6.40). (Note that you can download an evaluation version (Sneak Preview SAP Web Application Server 6.40 Java) from the SDN Download Area at https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/downloadarea.sdn.)
<b>2-3</b> Adobe Reader 7.0.x is installed on your computer.
<b>2-4</b> The Active Component Framework (ACF) of the Interactive Forms integration is installed on your computer. With SP Stack 11, calling a Web Dynpro application that includes a PDF form for the first time should automatically install the ACF in the background. If you experience
difficulties that may be related to the frontend installation, please see SAP Note 766191 on the SAP Service Marketplace for manual installation.
<b>2-5</b> The Adobe document services are configured on the SAP J2EE Engine you are using. Hopefully these messages will ring a bell and some of you have a solution for this problem.
    Manny thanx in advance
    Jasper Brugman

    Hi Jasper,
The Adobe credential on your NetWeaver seems to be expired or not applied.
Go to the quick guide :  https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b22d4e44-0e01-0010-ffa4-fe9c59939e5e
On page 33-34 , it explains you how to applied again the adobe credentials.

  • Adobe Document Services / Interactive Forms

    Gud Mrng Techies,
Can anyone suggest a gud reading on
    1. How To Configure Adobe Document Services on J2EE Engine.
    2. How To Work With Adobe Interactive Forms in NWDS using Adobe Live Cycle Designer.
    Thanks in advance....
    Bhushan Reddy.

    Hi Bhushan,
    Very good morning.!!
The main purpose of ADS,adobe dosument services is to design and create interactive PDF forms. These services are installed as Web services on a J2EE Engine and have the destination URL as default. We need to ensure that we install the Adobe document services on the J2EE Engine on which the Web Dynpro runtime environment is deployed.
If the Adobe document services are not provided on the J2EE Engine on which the Web Dynpro runtime environment is deployed, you must change the destination URL of the Adobe document services using the Visual Administrator.
Check the below links for a good reading of the same
    http://www.adobe.com/nl/pdfs/7_SAP.pdf
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/enterprise/partners/pdfs/solution_in_detail_interactive_forms.pdf
hope these are helpful for u.

  • Free Reader and Interactive Form

I am using the free Adobe reader to fill out an interactive form. When I finish, I need to save it as a non-interactive form.  Is this possible in Free Adobe reader?

My users who will be filling out the form are going to need something simple to use.  I was hoping that we could add PDF to the printer list and have them simply 'print to PDF'.    Is this possible in free Reader?
