Adobe Help App for Mac - Thumbs Down

I don't know where to put this, so since I'm using Premiere Pro right now, I guess I'll post it here...
First of all, I can't stay logged in when using the help app because the silly "stay logged in" checkbox won't check!
Secondly, the help app is sluggish compared to a regular browser. I would much prefer to use my web browser of choice, but I don't because Adobe messed up the whole browser UI by eliminating the frame-based approach that was used in CS3 (I skipped CS4). This means that the table of contents disappears when a new page is visited, which drastically reduces the utility of the help. Why Adobe chose to create its own web browser is beyond me. And why the browser UI is so lame is beyond me too. In an age of Web 2.0, HTML5, web apps, AJAX, and such, a super slick browser UI for product help could have been created; but no, we're stuck with a sluggish help app that can't even keep me logged in.

Here's the forum for this kind of feedback:
http://forums.adobe.com/community/creativesuites/communityhelp
Please give feedback there. It nees to be seen by the people on that forum, who make the decisions about the Help system.
BTW, you can change the preferences so that Help opens in your default browser instead of the Community Help Client application. It's what I do. See this:

  • Creative Cloud desktop App for Mac crashes and does not work

Installed creative cloud for MAC (running OSX 10.9). App does not run. I see the Creative Cloud icon at top of screen (in menu) for about 0.5 seconds then it disappears. No error messages or warnings. I have tried to uninstall and install the desktop app many times with the same results. It appears there is no way to download the LR CC and PS CC that I paid for.

  • Cool Apps. for Macs

I just purchased my first mac a macbook pro about a month ago and i was wondering what are the best applications to download for a mac? What do these applications do and where they can be found? I have seen a lot of cool apps for macs but i just don't know which ones are worth downloading and i will have he most fun with. Thank you very much. I cant wait to get your suggestions.

Again, the problem with your question is that it's too broad: You're like a guy standing in front of a carpenter, a plumber and an electrician and saying: Look I got a great new toolbox, what cool tools should I get? And the first thing those guys are going to say is: What's the job you're trying to do? A woodsaw ain't much help for cutting pipe?
So FileMaker Pro is a great database app. Explore it to the fullest. You'll master it in about a year. See the problem?
i would like for image editing. I want apps that will make my mac more fun to use daily.
    Image Editing
iPhoto is on your Mac. You can use external editors with it:
In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Other photo apps worth looking at:
PhotoPresenter is an excellent slideshow app.
If you want to make slideshow movies: iMovie, PhotoToMovie, Final Cut Express are all excellent for the job - they're arranged in price order there too.
Budapest Sculptures was made using Final Cut Express
There are a multitude of online tutorials, forums and whatever on digital photography - google them. Again, that's another year of your life used up

  • Can't find Adobe Help App

    I have CS3 running on OSX 10.4.11.
When I try to use the help file it says the app can't find the Adobe Help App.
It says to re-install CS3 but I'd rather not because I have all the updates and the installer on the CD ROM will not un-install the version on my Mac.
Anyone know how to fix this.
    Thanks,
    G.

I see this has gone unanswered. Sorry I may not have the answer either, but there may be some things to try -- beside calling Adobe for tech suppost (they are actually nice people and have helped me out a lot of times, unlike tech support for other products).
The Obvious Solution: is to reinstall as suggested, but there are these:
One: There is support help online. It may not be for your specific version, but it may help. Try here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/photoshop/
Two: Try reinstalling the Help application. Can't hurt, right?
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3088
There are also some instructions for troubleshooting an earlier version here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402707&sliceId=2
That may be worth a try if the installation of 2.1 doesn't work.
    I hope that helps!

  • JavaScript in Adobe Reader app for Android

How long to get the Adobe Reader app for Android will support JavaScript code? In addition to the password, I need to put the expiration day on my PDFs to close the backdoor.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Many thanks for getting back to me.  A reset all fields would certainly
save a great deal of time on forms that are used over and over!
Something else that I've noticed is the fact that when you flick through
the pages of .pdf documents, there are sometimes white blank pages.  You
need to scroll back and forth to get them all to load and sometimes even
after they have loaded, when you scroll back and forth again other pages
    are blank.
I am using the latest Samsung Note Pro tablet with 2 x quad core
processors so I can't blame outdated technology.
Do you have any ideas as to how to solve this problem?
Many thanks again for your help.
    Regards

  • Alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite

Is there a reliable and secure alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite?  I keep getting websites telling me that I can see a video because my Flash Player needs to be updated.  But I haven't wanted to install it as I've heard negative things about it and Macs.  Is there an alternative to Flash Player?  And if so, what is it and where do I find it?

Being that Flash is very insecure, I've completely removed it from my MacBook Pro. The best alternative is to uninstall Flash from your system and download Google Chrome as it has Flash build into it and you're not vulnerable unless you're browsing in Chrome. If Safari is your main browser, as mine is, then you need to open Safari Preferences, go to Advanced and click the checkbox for 'Show Develop menu in menu bar'. Once you've done this, the Develop menu bar menu shows up and you can click it and choose 'Open Page With' and choose Chrome. It is a bit cumbersome, but it removes the vulnerability when browsing in Safari as many sites are now using HTML5. Hope this help.

  • Functionality of Adobe Acrobat Pro for Mac questions?

Greetings! After 35 years in the Windows environment, I became the proud owner of a MacBook air last night, and I want to install Adobe Acrobat Pro for Mac on it. I would like to know if the features and functionality of the Mac version are the same as those on the Adobe Acrobat Standard that I have been using in my Windows environment for so many years.
The Windows version gives me everything I need, most importantly the ability to add text as annotations into documents that have been scanned and sent to me as PDFs, fill in forms, create forms, etc.
Additionally, can someone help me with the differences between the subscription version and the full purchase version? Does the subscription version have any problems, is it just as functional as the full purchase version?
    Thank you so much all!
    S.

If you don't have a physical printer hooked up to your Mac you can still do the Save As Adobe PDF with a "faux" printer setup.  Here are the steps to set that up:
    1.  Go to Apple menu>System Preference>Printers and Scanners
    2.  Press the plus symbol button "+"
    3.  In the Add dialog select IP at the top
    4.  in the Address field put the numbers 127.0.0.1
    5.  In the Protocol pop-up menu make sure that Line Printer Daemon - LPD is selected
    6.  Leave the Queue field bland for the default printer
    7.  In the Name field it will say "127.0.0.1" and you can leave it to that or change it to anything you want.
    8.  Leave the Location field blank
    9.  Leave the Use field pop-up menu field at the default which is Generic PostScript Printer.
    10.  Click the Add button
    11.  You will get the message:
"Unable to verify the printer on your network.
Unable to connect to '127.0.0.1' due to an error.
Would you still like to create the printer?"
    12.  Click the Continue button.
    13.  In the Setting up '127.0.0.1...' dialog click the OK button
    14.  Open up TextEdit
    15.  Type some test text (e.g.  Test Text)
    16. In TextEdit Go to File>Print
    17. In the Print dialog, press on the PDF button on the lower Left side of the window.
    18.  Select Save As Adobe PDF.
    19.  In the Save As Adobe PDF dialog, select your Adobe PDF Settings and whether or not you want the resulting PDF to open in Adobe Acrobat Pro and then click the Continue button.
    20. In the Save window, title your PDF in the Save As: field, navigate to the location you want to save the PDF and then click the Save button.
    21. Done.

  • I Want to Buy Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Mac - NOT Creative Cloud

I just bought a new iMac and I would like to buy Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.  I am NOT interested in the monthly subscription for Creative Cloud, so please don't even try and sell that to me.  I was told by the place I bought my new iMac that Adobe would still sell me Photoshop CS6 if I contacted them.  Since I was unable to find a phone number to call, I thought I would try my luck on this forum.  Again, I was told that Adobe would send me a link or something like that where I can buy and download Photoshop CS6.  Since my new iMac does NOT have a CD/DVD-ROM drive, I would only be able to download the software.  I understand that the monthly subscription for Creative Cloud is the newest way of using Photoshop, but I am not interested in that at all.  I would greatly appreciate any and all assistance with this matter.  Thank you for your time and I anxiously await a response.
    Respectfully,
    Chris

From here you should be able to buy photoshop cs6:

  • I have Adobe Photoshop CS5 for Mac-OS, can this be used on a PC?  I'm wanting to load onto a PC/laptop.

I have a version of Adobe Photoshop CS5 for Mac OS, which I use on my desktop.  I've recently purchased an HP laptop, is there a way to use my licensed CS5 version of Photoshop on my new HP PC?

No, the CS5 software is operating system-specific and even if you were willing to trade for the Windows version you could not at this point due to that only being possible for the latest. release, CS6.

  • 10 most helpful apps for itouch 4th gen

10 most helpful apps for itouch 4th gen 5.1.1

    Helpful for doing what?
Knowing what the weather is going to do?
    Walking the dog?
    ...eating cheese?
Seriously, what do you expect from anyone here when you post a question like that?
But since you ask, my favourite Apps (apart from the in-built ones) are:
aNote (Awesome Note), which - guess what - it's a note taker app.
BBC News - 'cos I like to keep up with the news, but I don't have a TV.
Lemonrock - gig listings in pubs etc. (This may well be a UK only App)
Accounts - keep a note of how much money I (don't) have.
Soundhound - for finding out what music is being played
Tesco - my local supermarket shopping list
You'll note that I've only listed six, not ten. Well, they're my helpful useful ones. You may not like any of them or may not be able to get them if you're not in the UK. Either way, what anyone else thinks is useful or helpful doesn't help you, does it?
My advice, and feel free to ignore it, is take your time deciding which Apps you want. Otherwise, you'll simply end up with lots of Apps you don't like and don't use. Decide what sort of App you think may be of use to you and then read the reviews on it and see if you can use those to decide if it's for you.

  • Air Display app for Mac Air???

Will Air Display app for Mac enable me to use my Mac Air display on a larger, Windows monitor?  Thanks.

Yes, but not the Mac app, the Windows app. Just buy the Windows version of the Air Display app from the Avatron web site: http://getairdisplay.com, and download the free Air Display video drivers for your Mac.
You can try the Windows app for free for up to an hour of connection before deciding whether or not to buy.
    Cheers,
    Dave at Avatron
