Adobe Help Viewer Problem

For some reason, I recently noticed that the Adobe Help Viewer for After Effects CS3 is not displaying properly.  When I use the help viewer for any other applicaiong (I have CS3 Production Premium) it looks normal (like a flash display).  But I when I open it for After Effects, there is no image on top and the text is larger blue on a white background (instead of smaller on a greay background, etc.).  No images are displayed in the help text.  This just happens for after effects.  I have Help Viewer version 1.1, build 198.  I tried downloading the 1.1 update from the website (even though it's the same build number) but when I try to install I get an error in setup.exe.  Any ideas?
I can still navigate through the help viewer but it is definately not displaying properly.
Thanks.

I don't know what's causing the problem that you're describing, but I recommend against using the Help Viewer for After Effects CS3. I recommend that you either use the After Effects CS3 Help on the Web or the After Effects CS3 Help document in PDF. For After Effects CS3 and After Effects CS4, the Help document installed on your hard disk is not as complete and current as the HTML and PDF versions available on the Web.

  • Adobe Help Viewer Problem - CS3

    Hi all.
Wow. I finally figured out how to post a message here. It seems really confusing to me.
ANyway, all of a sudden my help system in CS3 Creative Suite stopped working. I am getting the message, "This topic is in the Help system of another product. To view this topic, install that product. about:blank"
I haven't even typed in a subject to search for. All I did was click on 'Help' from PPro. I also tried it from AE and PS with the same result. I am getting this from every product in the suite.
Can anyone help me out of this 'help' jam?
    Thanks.
    Keith

OK. I downloaded the update. Unzipped it and ran Setup.exe. I get the message the Adobe setup has stopped working."
I click on 'check online for a solution and close the program.' Then, nothing happens. I can't install the update you supplied a link to.
    I am using Vista x64 SP1
I will try some of the other Adobe product updates.
    Thans.

Hello Bob and thank you for responding so quickly ... Would you be kind enough to send me the link where I can download older versions of Folio Builder and Folio Producers Panel tools for InDesign 5.5. I'm looking for them but I can not find them.
    Thank you for your patience.

As discussed in numerous threads already, the new viewer has not been approved by Apple yet.
If you’re a pro or enterprise customer you can create your own viewer app. If not, you’ll have to wait or roll back to the older tools.

  • Adobe Help Viewer font

    Hi everyone,
I don't know whether I am posting this to the correct section
but I am trying to find out what font Adobe has used in their
Dreamweaver Help (which displays in Adobe Help Viewer 1.1)! Can
    anyone help?
    Thanks

You may be better off posting this to the
    Dreamweaver
Forums. That said, I don't have Dreamweaver but someone on here
may have and could help. The problem you have though is that it is
sometimes hard to identify a font as it depneds on what fonts are
installed on a user's PC. The use of fontsets allow help authors to
specify a default font but substitute it for another one if the
user doesn't have the default font installed. What this all means
is that the font you see may not be the one they developed the help
    in.

  • Adobe Help Viewer 1.1 interferance

I am having the Adobe Help Viewer 1.1 problem also. I have
CS3 Web Standard and CS3 Design Standard. I am running Windows XP
    Professional 2003. I installed a 1GB RAM chip. I have installed,
activated, updated and registered the two above program groups.
But, I cannot get the Help button to work for me. I click Help and
a Adobe Help Viewer 1.1 screen pops up and says "This topic is in
the Help system of another product. To view the topic, install that
product. about:blank. Part of my computer course is to analyze the
Help of the CS3 Dreamweaver system and I am getting nowhere.

I can't figure out how to add a new topic...since I am now
using Leopard 10.5 and CS3. When I go into Adobe apps...such as
Premier Pro, PhotoShop...the Adobe Help Viewer 1.1 is one of the
options under PP and PS HELP menus. BUT IT IS NOT THERE FOR
DREAMWEAVER. Suggestions...anything BUT reinstall...it was HELL
installing CS3 and I NEVER want to go through that again.

  • CS6 Adobe Help Viewer?

I recently installed CS6 from a disc. When attempting to open InDesign Help, I get the following error message:
Adobe Help Viewer is not installed and you are not connected to the internet. Please check your internet connection, or reinstall InDesign
Having checked and reinstalled, I'm still getting that message, and similar messages for the other CS6 applications such as Dreamweaver.
Is anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks -- Jeremy

It works for me this morning. Here's the top of the InDesign Help page.
You might try posting on the Community Help Application forum:

  • Adobe Help Viewer

I wish that the help pages still had the arrows for the previous and next topic in the help documentation (assuming such an organization still applies).
I often found it very useful and quick to be able to click forwards or backwords to the next logical section of the manual because related issues were all together, and if the page you were on did not have the answer, often the adjoining sections either had the answer or informative enough to help you solve the problem.
Now it seems like you have to do a search again, or go back to the top of the help section you are in.

  • Adobe Content Viewer Problem

    Hi All,
I am having trouble testing a new folio on the desktop of one of my students' computers. I have double checked her files are all setup properly. I checked her articles and her folio too. Everything is set up the way it should be. We can test it on an iPad without any problems, but when we try to test it on her desktop via the Adobe Content Viewer the screen loads and then remains grey. No error codes. Just completely grey.
Any suggestions as to why this may occur?
    Thanks,
    Jessica

Did your student set her folio as PDF? You can't view PDF folios on the desktop content viewer. If you were to try and view it then you would get a grey screen.

  • Adobe Help View

I've installed Help Viewer in Elements 8 and it defaults to Adobe.com. I would like it to default to Local Help.
Also can anyone explain why Adobe.com is so slow when accessing it for Help in the Viewer. It's not unusual for it to take minutes to respond.

I can't say that I find it unusually slow, but in any case go here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/photoshopelements/
and click the link for the part of PSE you want the help file for (editor or organizer) and you'll see a link to a downloadable pdf at the top of the page.

  • Adobe Help View Exception

When I try to run "Photoshop Help - (F1)" I constantly get an Application Exception pop-up window. The text says:
The exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occurred in the application at location 0x00488bc7.
    Help is never displayed.
    Suggestions?

I did see this reference, and tried part of it, the part about deleting the preferences. But, I did not try to purge folders because the structure of ahc (help center) and ahv (help viewer) are entirely different. I don't know how new ahv is, but this is release 1.1. I think I may have to reinstall the entire product. That's not too bad, except that means I'll have to reinstall all the plug-ins too!

  • ADOBE CONTENT VIEWER PROBLEMS

What is going on with the content viewer? I am trying to work on a folio which is a work in progress. As I ad and make changes to the articles I update them and download the update on my iPad. The problem that I have over and over and over to the point of RIDICULOUS is that I get a ERROR downloading the update and then I am requried to download the entire 521mb folio AGAIN!!!!! Then ot gets to about 321mb and stops. All I get ie a"waiting" message.
I pay entirely to much money for this softeware for it to continully have these problems. This is disrupting my work flow and causing me to miss deadlines.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the content viewer and nothing seems to work. This same problem is happening on my addroid tablet as well.
    Any thoughts?
    Rob

    Rob,
From May until September, before they upgraded the servers and timeout settings, I was having very similar problems and frustration.  I had to babysit downloads on salespeople's Xooms using hotel wireless until the wee hours of a couple of mornings in addition to many frustrating days/weeks in my office.  The unreliability/inconsistency was the most frustrating part.  Thankfully I rarely have download and installation issues these days and get very few complaints from users in the field.  Server problems seem to happen infrequently and don't last for more than a few hours when they do occur.
Make sure you're as close to a strong and solid signal as possible.  Adjust the screen timeout setting on the Android tablet.  When they go to sleep it seems to increase the potential for errors.  What happened to me a lot was that a 500MB+ folio would slowly download in spurts and then hang during installation.  I'd have to quit and restart the content viewer app to complete installation and then when it finally finished I would find that one or two articles would have gray elements or would be gray entirely.  It seemed like the delays during download would sometimes lead to an incomplete article.  Also, make sure you try downloading from different connections and/or rooms to eliminate your connection as a potential cause.
With some of our larger articles it takes as long to upload the article and then download/verify on multiple devices as it does to create them.  I add as much padding to schedules as I can just in case Adobe has a bad server day (or week).
Big articles and folios come with more time and trouble, make sure you optimize your videos and overlay elements to keep file size as low as you can.  Also, with the iPad viewer you should have progressive downloading so you can view articles as the folio is being downloaded.  This may help you identify the problem article(s).

  • Two things the 'Adobe Help Viewer' SAYS Premiere can do that it actually can't.

Problem #1 - EPS vector files.
    Quote:
Setting up, and bringing in assets / Importing files:
"Adobe Premiere Pro continuously rasterizes EPS images, so you can scale these files without pixilation."
This is completely untrue. If I bring in a .EPS or even a .AI file, Premiere immediately rasterizes it, and displays it at the native pixel site of the Illustrator document. This is usually very small, something like 600x600-ish. As soon as you scale it, all quality is destroyed.
After Effects doesn't have this problem. It would be nice to scale vector images in Premiere, and the Help SAYS it can do it, but it can not.
    Problem #2 - HDV Capture
    Quote:
Setting up, and bringing in assets / Capturing and digitizing:
"You can choose whether to preview DV video on the desktop during preview, during capture, or both. These options for HDV desktop preview, however, are supported on Windows only."
Also completely untrue. There is absolutely NO way to preview HDV footage on your desktop as it's capturing. Adobe announced with pride that this would be one of the new fancy features of CS3, but to my knowledge NO one has gotten it to work.
If someone can get either of these to work, please let me know how.

I don't have the type of files you speak of in "Problem #1", but I will try to do some research as time permits.
"Problem #2" is actually correctly documented. You need to read the second sentence more carefully. It is saying that you can view HDV video on the desktop "during preview", but says nothing about "during capture", which as you know it cannot do. I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing it's a technical issue that Adobe hasn't had time to deal with yet.
    Cheers

  • Adobe Reader View Problem

Hi, I usually use preview for PDFs but sometimes I have to use my Adobe Pro when marking up docs with my colleagues.
One really annoying thing with Adobe that I can't figure out is when I am pressing the arrow-down key to scroll through the document (I don't have a mouse and the documents are too long to use the side button). It keeps snapping to the next page and I need to be able to read what's on the last part of the previous page (like a footnote) and what is on the current page. Is there a way to get this to read continuously without this snapping feature? I have the preferences set to read continuously...is there anything that I am missing?
    Thanks!
