Adobe Ideas - Transparent background without exporting to Illustrator - all via iPad?

I am looking for a way to get a transparent background for my Adobe Ideas drawing without exporting to Illustrator and without leaving iOS.  Perhaps with another Adobe app or another vector app all together. Anyone tried this and had success?

Unfortunately, there is no way to get transparent pngs from Ideas. From Draw, however, you can choose "Copy Image to Creative Cloud", and then download the resulting png file from your CC account.
Hope that helps,

  • Idea: Transparent backgrounds!

I've been poring through the Keynote discussions for the first time in a long time, and one of the recurring themes is that you can't run an animated background, or any animation at all, for that matter, across multiple slides.
Suddenly it occurred to me that the solution for that problem could be a lot simpler than trying to include slide-spanning animations in Keynote. Wouldn't it be simpler if Apple set things up so that you could use a slide with a transparent or partially-transparent background, then you could run anything you wanted as the background for your slides, or for your whole show. Say, for instance, a full-screen QuickTime movie.
To make it even cooler, how about some AppleScript integration with QuickTime, so that an HREF track in a QuickTime movie could trigger builds or slide changes? Or in the same way, allow Keynote to trigger external events to fire the background animation.
That might also be useful if you're using Keynote to, say, demo a piece of software. You could have the software running on the desktop, and on the appropriate slide, an appropriate build smoothly reveals the application. A subtle keyboard trick switches the application to the foreground, you demo the application features, switch back to Keynote, and a slide transition takes you back to the show again.
Any comments on this crazy idea?

I played with this awhile back where I exported a Keynote presentation and, in Keynote, set black to be transparent (and made sure no elements I wanted to be opaque were black) and it was pretty cool. However, since this was in QuickTime and not in Keynote, it's not what you're talking about really.
Knowing how things work in other programs, Apple COULD set a "background" and a "foreground" layer that adheres to alpha channels, but that's still a ways off I think.

  • Is it possible to get transparent background when exporting to PDF?

When exporting a document to PDF, Pages turns the background white instead of keeping it transparent. I need it to be transparent. Can anyone tell me what to do to fix this?
When I print a document I use stationary that is in my printer. When I want to send the document by email I need to combine my text with my stationary (on the same page). In CS4 InDesign this is really easy with switching layers on/off, but I don't want to use InDesign for my wordprocessing, but Pages. In Pages I can add a background, but I can't switch it on/off. So now I use AcrobatPro 9 to combine my text document with my stationary, adding it as a watermark or background. This does not work with documents I made in Pages since Pages makes the background of a document WHITE when it exports to pdf. Instead it needs to be TRANSPARENT.
By the way: MS-Word gets it right: it keeps the background transparent when making a pdf. But I don't want to go back to Word, I just want Pages to do it right...
Any suggestions how I can make this work? Thanks!

    Hi marchaarman
Pages has an odd behavior, it actually puts 2 white backgrounds in the back of its documents.
This confounds Acrobat which inserts watermarks in front of the 1st background but sandwiched under the 2nd.
MsWord does not actually make a transparent background it just makes the 1 white background, or whatever the paper color may be.
If you want your watermark, you will need to add it in Pages, possibly as a master object in a section template that you can eliminate or add as you want.

  • How to create image slice with transparent background without white halo around?

Hi, I want to make slice image with transparent background. I set the slice option background color to my background color. But when the image is on my html page set against the same background color, it has white halo around:
How can I get rid of the white halo?
I need the slice image to have transparent background and not have a color background because it's going on a rollover button with the background change. I don't want it to look like this on rollover:

    >it looks to me like you built it with that "halo" to start with.
No, I didn't put in the halo myself. The shape is a character from the Webdings font. It's set to some darker fill color and set on a transparent background. Photoshop put the white halo there after "Save For Web".
    > Make your graphic on a transparent background and Save for Web
    I did exactly that, see:
I set the slice background to my color. I try the Matte option and come out the same with white halo.
It seems I'm not making Photoshop antialias to my background color, instead Photoshop just antialias to white.
What else do I need to do?

  • Creating a transparent background and exporting as flash

I have been reading about the "Green Screen" and "Blue Screen" functions on my TRIAL version of Adobe Elements 8 and am not sure whether I am able to do what I want to do with the program and thus, am not convinced I should buy it.
I want to record a video of myself in front of a green screen, clear the background, save the recording as a flash that can be incorporated in my home page.  The goal being to have the flash media load up a second or two after someone comes into my websight.  It would play for a predetermined length (15 seconds) and then you would have the option to click on "me" to be linked to more recorded sequences, charts, pictures, statistics etc..
Is it possible to do this in  Premiere Elements?

In PrE 4, there was no Flash w/ Alpha Channel, like there is in PrPro. Check with your version and the Advanced Settings. You want Alpha Channel.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Transparent background  for export to FCP

I have a bunch of little green icons I have animated and I want to be able to drop them in my FCP project as needed. I have searched and read and read.... and read..... I can't seem to figure out how to do this. From reading on my search results I must mess with the alpha channels but I'm really new at this and am not sure how to do this. Can anyone just give me a little quick step-by-step on this?
I have, in Motion, the export settings to Millions of Colors+ and Animation.
    Thanks-

This isn't nearly as intuitive as I think this should be.
You're right, video is really hard.
Looking back over your thread, it's entirely possible the movies have transparency, you're just not looking at it properly, which is, granted, confusing. But alpha channels are not fundamental to video editing, they're special types of clips and you need to learn how to create and use them.
Motion is set by default to render to the Animation codec but may not be set to millions of colors +, the + sign is the alpha.
And, no, sorry, it can't be explained in a simple step-by-step post. There are fifty or a hundred pages on alphas in the Motion documentation. Start with the explanation of the Animation codec.

  • Import/export of PDF files via iPad USB port - Apple please!

I am writing here in the hope that some Apple representatives will read it.
I am a scientist working for a large pharmaceutical corporation. In my work I read and annotate a lot of publications. Since forever I have been doing this by printing out publications and annotating them with a highlighter and pencil. With the iPad I would like to convert now to a paperless environment. I bought an iPad2 and learned to use iAnnotate and GoodReader. This part of the conversion to a paperless environment is completed. However, iPad file transfer from and to my work PC is a problem. Let me explain.
We have a Windows Vista environment. Individual PC users are very restricted in the ways they can customize their computers. Wireless is and will not be enabled and installing software like iTunes is not an option. Even transfer of files to external drives is prohibited however that is negotiable. Therefore the only option for me, and I am sure I speak for a lot of scientists at other pharmaceutical companies, would be to use a USB flash drive to transfer PDF between my work computer and the iPad.
As you all know, this is currently not possible. For that reason I cannot implement a paperless environment at work using the iPad.
Therefore my plea to Apple: Please make it possible that iPad software like iAnnotate, GoodReader or Desktop Connect can implement functionality that will allow the transfer of PDF files from and to a USB flash drive using the camera connection kit. Your restriction is seriously hampering the introduction of the iPad into the corporate environment.

  • How do I transfer a .psd file to illustrator that can then be placed in Muse as a .svg with transparent background?

I just wrote all this up in another thread.  I did not realize at the time that the last post was in 2014, so I'm giving it a go here.
I am currently trying to create an .svg using Photoshop .psd file (with layers in tact).  I'm new to these products so it may be obvious to others that the above intention was to eventually place the .svg in some sort of website creation software such as Muse.  Which is precisely what I am attempting. However, I am getting a white background once I place or copy and paste into Muse.  My starting .psd has a transparent background without any hidden layers causing this problem.  To test this I placed the .psd file into Muse and it still has a transparent background.  However when opening or placing this file into illustrator, it picks up a white background. If I do exactly as described above, I still get the same result.  So far I have tried:
    1) Simple copy and paste from Photoshop .svg to illustrator to Muse.  Result - white background.
    2) Placing the .psd in illustrator, then placing the .svg file in muse.  Result - white background.
    4) I have also tried the every combination of 1 and 2. - Result - white background.
    3) I have now created a path in Photoshop from the text layer to yet again attempt the above methods.  Result - white background.
I'm including an image of the object I am trying to place with transparent background, but I have both a flattened rasterized version, a version complete with layers and a third (.svg) with the corresponding objects.  I am completely new to Illustrator as of today so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
Link to .psd file "Welcome text"

I was having some difficulties getting the correct dimensions of one of my objects, I eventually solved this problem without using svg.  It was pretty simple when I stopped trying to over complicate things.  I just linked the object to a near by object in photoshop, merged and placed it all as one.  It looks great now.  Thanks for your reply.  You are correct, SVG was not the answer.

  • How to save a clip with a transparent background?

How do i save a clip with a transparent background to export to quicktime and then be able to import it back into my timeline and have it be able to overlay ontop of another clip? Transparent clip is for lower third

For transparency to work, you need to save it in a format that has an alpha channel. Not sure if FCE supports the Animation codec but if it does you'll want your material as "millions of colors +". The "+" means Alpha.

  • How to create transparent background video?

I'm trying to add some filters to some some imported text files from Photoshop, but they don't work so well so I need to import them as transparent video files. So, how do I export the text as a ProRes file from FCP with a transparent background so I can re-import it and add the video filters?
I've tried fiddling around with the alpha channels but the background always seems to be black.

You don't export the files as a ProRes clip.
Place your text on a transparent background and export from PS as .tiff or .png stills. They will composite automatically. You can set the default length required in FCP's User Preferences...
You must do this before you import the files.

  • Import Motion 5 movie into iMovie 11 with transparent background

I'm trying to import a movie from Motion 5 into iMovie 11 with a transparent background.  iMovie goes through the expected dialog boxes but the actual movie doesn't appear in the events window.  I know this is possible to do as I've been able to import the indymogul transporter effect movie (http://www.indymogul.com/transport) and use in iMovie 11 without too many problems.
The movie is "PAL DV" with a transparent background and I've tried all the combinations of "alpha, color, alpha + color, etc.".
Has anyone been able to do this?
    many thanks,
    - Dale Thatcher

Hi I am looking for clarification before buying the motion software.
@dale , Is it possible to create animated graphics and text with a transparent background, that can then be overlayed ontop of my Imovie projects using the Picture in Picture option?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Need a graphic to have a transparent background

I have a graphic with a white background, but i need it to have a transparent background. I have erased all the white on a new layer, but when i save it as a jpeg it still has a white background. The backgound layer is locked and wont let me delete it. What do i have to do to make the white backgound go away?

    Hi there,
Nathanalf is correct; you need to save as a .psd, .gif, or .png depending on the ultimate purpose for the image.
It sounds like you are having some issues with deleting a background layer. To do so, follow these steps:
    1) Here I have an image with two layers: one with an original image ("background"), and one that I want to become the final transparent image. The background layer is hidden so you can see the transparent area.
    2) Here I made the background layer visible. You should be able to simply drag the layer from the layers panel to the trash can at the bottom of the panel, but if not, double click on the layer in the layers panel. This will open a dialog where you can rename the layer and will unlock it.
    3) Drag the unlocked layer to the trash can to delete it.
    To save as a .png:
    1) Go to File > Save As
    2) Under format, select .PNG. In the following dialog boxes, choose Save and OK.
    I hope this helps!

  • Transparent backgrounds on Adobe Ideas?

How can I leave a transparent background on an Adobe Ideas file so I can save it on PNG?

Images with transparent backgrounds currently cannot be exported from Ideas. A (very roundabout) workaround would be to send the file via email to yourself or sync the file to your Creative Cloud account. Open the resulting file (either the one in your email or the one from your Creative Cloud account) on your desktop with Adobe Illustrator, then export as a PNG.
    Hope that helps,
