Adobe iFilter 6 with MS indexing service on asian language

Hi All:
I found the search hit for iFilter 6 on Win2003 (ENG) is much lower than on Win2000 (ENG) with indexing service. (I am testing on Tradition Chinese Characters search). In addition, iFilter is not bundle on Acrobat Reader 8.X, but it show no improvement on Chinese search. Is that any reason why?
Best Rgds
Frank

Update: I uninstalled 9.3.1, installed 8.2.0, manually added an item to the registry and I'm indexing and searching again.  I had manually added the line for the 9.3.1 install as well but to no avail.
Here's the working edit
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex
Multi-String Value:  DLLsToRegister
Add "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRdIF.dll" to the end of the string as an extra line.
Viola, you're working again.
By the way, indexing doesn't work in 9.3.0 either.

    Hi DeaconTomColorado,
Please see "Error occurred when trying to access this service" when logging on to Acrobat.com.
Adobe has just released an update to Adobe Reader, so if you're accessing the service via Reader, please let us know whether the update helps resolve the issue.

  • Ifilter not working with Microsoft Indexing Service

I'm running the Adobe Reader 9.3.1 on our Windows 2003 Server utilizing the Indexing Service.  Our indexing was working until something changed and we lost all indexing for any pdf.  Other documents were operating fine.
I ran the install for the latest reader believing that maybe some other update had caused the problem.  I've set up a test environment with a clean Windows 2003 Standard Server utilizing the Indexing Service and successfully recreated the issue.  On the clean server, I installed Adobe Reader 9.3.1, created a catalog with 5 pdf files in the target folder, indexed the files, and attempted to search using the query tool available for managing the Indexing Service.
Adobe ifilter v6 solves the problem but does not generate the Characterization (Abstracts) nor is the VPath available.  I've been at this for two days trying different alternatives, searching the web, and coming up with a whole lot of nothing.
Any thoughts, hints, or ideas appreciated!

  • Adobe Reader X and Indexing Service - pdf content not searchable

Install Adobe Reader X on a Windows 2003 machine with Indexing Service installed. Create a catalog (folder) and point indexing service at it so that documents are indexed. Verify indexing is working with a simple text file. New copy a pdf file into the folder. You will see in Computer Management the file appear to be indexed. Now simply query the catalog - the file contents are not indexed. The iFilter that gets installed should allow indexing service to index pdf file contents and return search results when the catalog is queried.

    Hi MT.Freelance
The way that "Welcome Pages" are done in Acrobat X has changed from Acrobat 9, what you are seeing looks like a bug related to these changes.
If you would like to log a bug on this issue the form for bug reports can be found here  https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&promoid=E WQQL

  • Indexing PDFs with legacy Indexing Service

I have a .NET application that uses the old legacy Indexing Service on Windows Server 2003 SP2 (32-bit). What do I need to install to make it index PDFs? I've installed XI Reader (as I understood that the iFilter was built into this now?) and I've restarted Indexing Service and done a full re-sync, but it still doesn't seem to be finding any PDFs (also tried a reboot).
    Thanks

It appears that the answer was to uninstall XI and install 9.5. I believe Adobe made changes to the iFilter from 10.x onwards so that it no longer supports an old method that is used by Indexing Service. This thread was useful: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5115337#5115337

  • Adobe Reader X refuses to install - indexing service filter daemon

I have closed all applications, but Adobe Reader X refuses to install, saying that something called "indexing service filter daemon" is open.  How do I get around this?

This is how I got around this install issue:
    During install with the Indexing Service Filter Daemon message still open;
    1) right click on My Computer
    2) select Manage
    3) double click Services and Applications
    4) right click Indexing Service
    5) select pause
    6) in the Adobe X install message window, select Retry
It will have you reboot after install and it should automatically restart the service that you just paused.  If not, repeat the steps and select Start instead of Pause.
    Hope that helps.

  • 64-bit iFilter will not index remote files

I have the 64-bit Adobe iFilter installed on a Windows 2008 Server, and I am using it with Windows Indexing Service to index documents.  I am able to read .pdf documents on the local machine, but I cannot get data from .pdfs on remote file servers (we get data from text documents just fine).  We have been able to do this in the past with the earlier 32-bit iFilter on Windows 2000 and 2003, but not with the 64-bit on Windows 2008.
Has anyone been able to get this to work?
    thanks,
    Robin

Did you ever figure out the solution to this problem? I am experiencing the same thing.

  • Adobe IFilter problem

I am having problems getting Adobe's IFilter to work with Windows Indexing Service.  I am running Windows Server 2008 SP2 32bit and have installed Adobe IFilter 6.0.  After installing the IFilter I created a catalog in Indexing Service and tried to index pdf documents.  These documents will not pull up in a search and I am stumped.  Any help is appreciated.

    Hello,
We believe we have figured this out.  It looks like it has to do with the length of the default folder location for the Adobe iFilter.
I was able to reproduce the issue and the following resolved it for me.  See if this resolves it for you all as well.
Here is how to get Adobe Version 11 PDF filter to work.
1 . If you haven’t already, run the following in SQL Server:
    Sp_fulltext_service ‘Load_os_resources’, 1
    Go
--you might also need to run:  sp_fulltext_service ‘Verify_signature’,0  --This is used to validate trusted iFilters. 0 disables it. So use with caution.
    --go
    2. Stop SQL Server.  (Make sure FDHost.exe stops)
    3.
Uninstall the Adobe ifilter (because it defaulted to having spaces or the folder name is too long).
    4.
Reinstall the Adobe iFilter and when it prompts for where to install it, change it to: C:\Program Files\Adobe\PDFiFilter
    5.  Once the installation finishes, go the computer’s Environment variables. Add the following to the PATH.
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\PDFiFilter\BIN
NOTE: it must include the BIN folder
NOTE: If you had the OLD location that included spaces, remove it from the path environment variable.
    6. Start SQL Server
    7.  IF you had an existing Full-text index on PDFs, drop the full-text index and recreate it.
    8. You should now get results when you run sys.dm_fts_index_keywords('db','tblname')  --Note: Change db to be the actual database name and tblname to be the actual table name.
Give this a try and see if this fixes yours.
    Sincerely,
    Rob Beene, MSFT

I have a business requirement in which the end user us given an Application Form.
The user can save the form locally and fill the data.
Now the requirement is that when the end user clicks on Submit Button on the form, a web service is called and the entire data in the form is sent to CRM System.

Also the other major requirement is that i need to send the application form also to the CRM system.
I need to store the form as attachement for a Business Partner Record.
Is it possible to capture the data in the adobe form and still attach the form as attachement in an Offline Scenario????
Is it possible that a Web Service can be called on click of button in the form and still be able to attach the form itself as attachment???

  • Adobe forms with Web Service - nothing happens when clicking button.

    Hi,
I am trying to develop adobe forms with web service. The web service
    WSDL location is :- [http://www.webservicex.net/uklocation.asmx?wsdl]
I have created a new dataconnection with the above URL, drag & drop fields & button onto the form & save the form.
when I open the PDF on my local machine, enter the post code and push button, nothing happens. no error/warning message.
I also downloaded a web service example PDF from [http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/tips/index.html]
This form also has button to execute a web service but again nothing happens?
Any clues why this is happening? I turned off my firewall thinking it might be blocking but no joy
I am using Adobe Life cycle Designer 8 & Adobe reader 8.
    Thanks,

    Hi Pankaj,
While you are creating Webservice from Java file, select the Aunthenticationtype as SimpleSOAP instead of Basic SOAP (Bydefault BasicSOAP is selected, Change it to SimpleSOAP).
There are some steps after you create a Webservice.
First Download WSDL on your Local Machine from WAS.
After that when you open the zip file you get 3 WSDL's.
There we need to combine the 3 wsdl's and make it into one wsdl after you do this process.
Incorporate the WSDL in your interactive form and drag and drop the button onto the form.
Please don't try to edit any of the method because it will not work if you try to change any feature.
If you want to write Javascript for that method write it in "enter" method, script type:Javascript.
If you have any queries you can ping.

  • IFilter - Index service gets stuck on PDF files

Hello, I'm running iFilter v6.0 on Windows Server 2003. The server takes a couple seconds to index a text file, but as soon as it runs into a PDF it gets stuck. It will never finish indexing the PDF. If I try to delete the PDF, I get an error saying the file is in use. I'm able to delete the file once I stop the index service. I really need to index PDF files for our website.
I already tried stopping the index service, uninstalling iFilter, rebooting, reinstall iFilter, reboot, empty the index catalog, start the index service, and finally reindex.

How can I install my Adobe Photoshop on my computer with Windows XP Service Pack 3?  Seriously frustrated.  I put the disc in the drive and nothing happens.  I open up add/remove programs and I get an error message stating it can't find a disc.  I chatted with Adobe support, and they decided to send me here. Probably because they knew I wanted to spend all day online trying to figure this out.

  • Silent fail with Flashbuilder due to Windows indexing service!

    Hi,
since I installed Flashbuilder b1 in April I got again and again silent fails.
I could change by code, but sometimes all changes where ignored. That was very frustrating.
Last week I switched the index service off, and voila no more problems since then!!!
It seems to lock some files, that seems to block eclipse somehow.
You can deativate it for Vista under
    right mouse on Hardisk Partition->Properties
deselect the the checkbox "Index this drive for faster searching"
    Confirm it for all folder.
    Hope this will help someone!
    Martin Zach

    Hi David,
you can test it if you like:
Switch on indexing for your project folder. Within 7 days you will get problems for shure!
I realized it because I got the problem again, that Flashbuilder stopped to compile my new code and used the old compiled files.
Then I left for an appointment for about 3 hours. After I returned, I tried it again and then it works! I haven't changed any of my code or configuration.
