Adobe Illustrator CC (Fonts Question)

I have a few questions regarding Adobe Illustrator CC:
1.  Does subscription to Adobe Illustrator CC includes a font account (Typekit)?  If so which one?
2.  Can I use these fonts with my illustrations, graphics, icons, webdesign, banners, logos and sell them?  Can I use these for commercial purpose?
3.  If my subscription has ended with Adobe Illustrator CC, can I still sell the graphics I have created with the fonts?
I mainly want to start creating different digital illustrations and sell them online.  I just want to ask these questions prior to using the fonts.
Thank you in advance

Adobe has sold you a license to use the fonts included with the software when you purchased / rented their software.  As I understand it, Type Kit would be separate from the initial install of things like Illustrator and InDesign.  When you purchase a font, you buy the license to use it.  Commercially.  Personally. They're yours with some limitations.  You'd have to read the license agreement to find out what you can do and cannot do with the fonts.  Once you've used the fonts in an illustration, the artwork becomes your property and you are the owner of the copyrights.  Typically, if you'd used a font in your artwork, you would "Create Outlines", thereby converting the font into artwork.  This should be done on a copy of the original artwork that uses the original "live" font.  You sell and distribute the "Outlined" version and keep the original "Live" version for future edits if necessary.  As you move forward with your venture, you should contact a copyright lawyer and discuss your situation with him/her.  Your artwork distributed online will open you up to a slew of vulnerabilities, not to mention piratting ( illegal copying ).  And, you must definitely apply with the US Copyright Office for official copyrights to your artwork.  At a minimum, read the license agreement Adobe supplies you with concerning fonts and font usage.  Also, consider joining The Graphic Artist Guild, NY and getting their handbook which includes details regarding your rights, copyrights, legal issues, etc.

  • Adobe Illustrator CS5 - Fonts not found

We are changing our user from a Mac to a Windows (7) based computer and we are running in to issues with files that she created on the Mac version of Adobe Illustrator. She used some fonts (AGaramond-BoldItalic for example) and it works great on the Mac. I copied all the font files to the windows computer and made sure they work (opened Illustrator and created a document with the fonts).
The issue now is that when we open the old documents from the Mac on the Windows computer it gives an error "Font not found on the system; missing font has been substituted."
I am not sure how to tell the file that the fonts Are there because when it opens all the fonts are to a default Arial.
    So far I have tried:
    Removing all Adobefnt*.lst files
Resetting adobe settings by holding ctrl+alt+shift and opening the program
Testing the file on a brand new user account
    uninstall and reinstall the program
    None of these have worked.

There are more cache files than the adobefnt files.  See here for more detailed instructions on cleaning your font caches. That said, it sounds likely that the issue is that your fonts are mac only, as Larry said above.  You should be able to use Type -> Find Font... to replace them with whatever version you have on the PC but watch for formatting/flow changes.  Also, my condolences to your designer. ;-)

  • Illustrator CC Font Question

I created a document in Illustrator CC using Baskerville Bold.  My co-worker opened the same file using Illustrator and it has two issues:
When she selects Baskerville, it says the font was created in a newer Illustrator and may change the format
On only ONE of the text boxes does the number have significant spacing issues (ie. 410      5) when it should read 4105.  None of the other numbers have this issue.  If we change the font to Baskerville Normal, the number becomes normal.
Both of our illustrator programs have the same updates and we are running essentially the same computers.  However, I am not sure why the font issues are showing up on her computer, but not mine.
    Any thoughts?

Yes as we copied the fonts from my computer to her computer.
I will look at the glyph settings and language settings.

  • Adobe Illustrator Font AdobePiStd not found

I am using the programming language R to generate .eps files.
For some reason Adobe Illustrator gets confused between Zapf Dingbats and AdobePiStd.
When I open the file I get the following error:
The font AdobePiStd is missing.  Affected text will be displayed using a substitute font.
There is a workaround for this problem described here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9992275/ggplot2-pdf-import-in-adobe-illustrator-missing -font-adobepistd
Unfortunately, I cannot find the AdobePiStd font within creative cloud, and with Adobe Illustrator CS the workaround they describe cannot be followed. When you click on Type->Find Font the AdobePiStd has already been removed from the list of fonts.
InDesign correctly sees this font as Zapf Dingbats, but doesn't allow me to change the font and will not export to .pdf with the missing font.

Moving your post to the Illustrator forum.

  • How to Type arabic in Adobe Illustrator CC

hi guys anybody knows how to type in arabic in adobe illustrator CC

If your question is really "How to type Arabic in MS Word for Mac", then the answer is that MS Word for Mac has never supported Arabic.  Instead should use another app.  Mellel is best, but Pages 5, TextEdit, Nisus Writer, OpenOffice should also work.
It is sometimes possible to use MS Word for Mac to edit an Arabic document created by MS Word for Windows.
Just post again if this has not addressed your problem.

  • How to install Fonts into Adobe Illustrator

I am using a computer that runs on Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Hi there I want to know  how to install new Fonts / Typefaces into Adobe Illustrator CS3?
I am also curious as to how I would install fonts on other Adobe CS applications?
All help, links, and resources much appreciated.

I just dragged and dropped the downloaded ".tff" font files into in Font Book icon in theDock and a new window popped up and just click "Install Font" button.
That works, too. Sets are, more than anything else, just a way to organize your fonts by project. By dropping the font in, it should now be listed in one of the standard headings like "Computer".
The new fonts have automatically loaded into Adobe Illustrator CS3 without having to close it.
Better apps will see when fonts have been enabled or disabled without having to close and restart them. Microsoft Word (and likely the entire Office suite) does not.

  • Missing Fonts in Adobe Illustrator CS5 Version 15.1.0 Agenda Bold and Agenda Black

    Hi,
We are using Adobe Illustrator CS5 Version 15.1.0  to re-create Points of Sales (PoS) that our 3rd party company sends us. But when we open the PoS from the 3rd Party we get a message saying we are missing 2 fonts. The names of these are Agenda Bold and Agenda Black. Are these Fonts from a newer version of Illustrator or are we able to purchase/download these?
Any help would be much appreciated!!
    Thanks,

These are not standard system or Adobe fonts. You will have to buy them from whatever type foundry that produces them.

XP Pro Windowsw/Fonts has a font.  It is listed as available in MS Word.  It is not listed as available in Adobe Illustrator CS6.  How do I fix this?  Thanks.

BobbyH5280.  Very helpful answer!  I am XP for the next week on CS6.  I did find 3 items that helped.  The fonts are in AI, but are listed on the bottom of the list.  Also in Edit/Preferences/Type, checking "Show Font Names in English" makes the font list easier to read (doesn't appear to change the sort order though), and (with your suggestion) checking "Sow Asian Options" might do something positive.  Thanks to all of you who sent in tips.

  • When I am trying to package my artwork in Adobe Illustrator CC, it is not capturing my images and fonts. How do I make sure my linked photos and fonts are captured?

When I am trying to package my artwork in Adobe Illustrator CC, it is not capturing my images and fonts. How do I make sure my linked photos and fonts are captured?

Not all fonts can be packaged depending on their licensing. Some fonts are set to not allow packaging. For those you would have to manually locate them on your computer and add them to the folder where the packaging occurred.
For the images have you checked the "copy links" option?

  • Question for the Adobe Illustrator team or anyone who might know

Is Adobe Illustrator meant only to use Bezier curves? I know that they are very useful for a number of curves, but are they used to approximate circles? Granted, all screens require rasterized objects to the nearest pixels in order to display them, but when drawing a circle, information is lost because it is converted into 4 Bezier curves (cubic or quadratic, I'm not sure). However, when I export a circle from Adobe Illustrator CS5 to SVG it preserves the circle or ellipse's information with its proper tag.
So, my question is, does the Adobe Illustrator Artboard file format have some internal representation of ellipses and circles such that it it not broken down into Bezier curves?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
when I export a circle from Adobe Illustrator CS5 to SVG it preserves the circle or ellipse's information with its proper tag.
So what? That means nothing. You're just talking about terms within a progamming language. One could program Illustrator to export a freakin' square as SVG's circle tag if one wanted to.
As explained in your previous thread about the same worry-wart subject:
There being a "circle element" in SVG programming, in itself, means nothing. I can write you a Javascript called "Illustrator's Circle Element" that will work in Illustrator, that will prompt you for center coordinates and a radius, that will appear in one of Illustrator's menus, and that will cause Illustrator to render that which for any practical purpose is a circle. The presence of such a command in no way signifies to you what kind of curve-rendering math is employed by that "element" to actually plot the curve!
By the same token, SVG's providing something called a "circle element" in its API and asking you to specify it in terms of center and radius in no way tells you what kind of curve-rendering math is actually being employed to render the curve, nor does it ensure that its rendered result will be any more precisely mathematically circular than rendered by a cubic Bezier curve. If you don't know for a fact that SVG's rendering math does not employ Bezier curves, then your concern is moot.
It's moot anyway, because it's ridiculous. Again: the "inaccuracy" is so tiny as to be completely pointless for any practical SVG purpose.
Again: You are reading entirely too much into a mere popularly-cited curiosity about the cubic Bezier equation. You are being silly; you just don't realize it.
Illustrator's (i.e; PostScript's) using Bezier math to plot curves does not make Illustrator (or any of the similar programs) in any way "sub standard" or "less accurate" or "less desirable" or more "dumbed down" than any other. In fact, here are some other related curiosities for you to loose sleep over:
The math primarily used for plotting curves in most CAD programs is quite arguably "more crude" than Bezier curves.
Illustrator uses cubic Beziers. TrueType uses quadratic Beziers. But there are Bezier equations of higher order than cubic.
(If I remember right) Bezier himself discovered the formulae bearing his name in pursuit of more supple curves for the automotive industry.
If you're still worried about this, you really need to go take a couple of math courses, so you can understand that this really is silly.
