Adobe Illustrator running incredibly slowly

Hey,
I've been using Illustrator CS3 on my macbook since I bought it in 2008 and never had a problem with it. Now however it is slowing right down when I select anything, even in a new project.
I haven't installed anything new, nor have I got low disk space or damaged my mac. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Do you have any plugins installed? If so, try removing them (and their associated plists if they have any) and see if that helps. Also bear in mind that CS3 was released in early 2007, long before Snow Leopard, is 32-bit, and not very well optimized for Intel processors. Some other things to check:
Is your primary scratch disk full or set to a non-existent drive?
Check for corrupt fonts and try turning off font previews.
If you have Scale Strokes and Effects turned on, try turning it off.

  • Problems with my E63. Running incredibly slowly.

Basically my E63 is running incredibly slowly and will not run any applications or even allow me to send a text. It allows me to make a phone call, but only if I type in the number from the main screen, which takes about 30 seconds to appear once ive typed it. Any ideas what the problem is?

Okey, youre not able to open anything on it?
I was thinking cleaning the browser cache, maybe deleting some messages etc, but it is impossible or what?
If the phonememory is full, it could be that which is making your phone act so slow. If you havent any programs running (as you cannot open any) it shouldn't be lack of ram.
What you could try is to soft reset your device, which in this case will wipe your phone memory deleting all installed apps, contacts, messages etc.
Before doing this you should back up your belongings to e. g ovi suite or Nokia pc suite.
I also suggest you buy a memory card. A smaller memory card is very cheap and it would take away a lot of problems related to phone memory as you can store pics, messages, videos, songs, a lot of apps etc, on it.

  • Apple TV running incredibly slowly

I have a new Apple TV (1 week old). It was working perfectly with about 10000 songs on it, similar amount of pictures and a few movies etc. About 50 gig has been used so far. Now it has started to run very slowly for no apparent reason ie there is a lag in the menu's of around 3 to 5 seconds before anything moves. Also I have a large amount of pictures on it as well and when the floating screen saver comes on, the pictures come up, freeze for about 5-8 seconds, then move a small amount then freeze again for a similar amount of time. Very jerkily. It is similar to how my old computer got when the hard drive was full.
Also when flicking through playlists, the album covers which used to previous flick through smoothly are doing the same thing ie lagging 5 - 8 seconds and jerkily.
    Things I have done :
    - Restarted it numerous times.
    - Unplugged and replugged.
    - Ran diagnostics - no error was found.
    - Software is up to date.
Any suggestions? I would really like it to go back to how it was which was perfect. Now its just plain annoying.

siding with BCFind on this one. i have one of the original 40 gig TV's. using it daily to stream content around the house. never had an issue (except with the 3.0 update - Chenks may remember).
i could give you the *hospital routine* but i'm sure you have seen that on the forums.
fact is, out of the total number of units sold, only a fraction suffer from problems as described in this thread. however, users interested in purchasing one may be dismayed by the negative light shed on it by folks like Capaho (no offense, mate ).

  • Why is my Adobe CC running so slowly on my iMac?

I have an iMac 27" late 2009 running Maverick with 16G RAM and have just got Adobe CC. These apps run slowly. What can I do to sort this out?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
    Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting.

  • Numbers running incredibly slowly

I'm not sure if this is because I have updated to Snow Leopard or not: I opened a CSV file containing 365 rows by 3 columns containing the date, sunrise time & sunset time. Not a massive spreadsheet, you would think, but as soon as I try and put this in a chart (selected all data and then chose a chart), Numbers slows right down to unusable speeds, taking upwards of 20 seconds to respond to a button press.
Even if I select a small amount of data, it doesn't seem to be able to chart times.
    Have I done something wrong?

You missed to read carefully the guide.
    Numbers is unable to chart date_time values which aren't numerical values;
Use formulas to convert your date_time values in numbers and you will be able to chart them.
In cells of column C I use the formula:
    =TIMEVALUE(B)
So, charting columns A & B gives nothing but charting columns A & C behaves flawlessly.
About slowness, it's a feature which was commented many times here.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 runs very slowly on OSX Mavericks

    Hi All,
Hope someone can help, I upgraded to Mavericks on my Mac, but now Dreamweaver CS6 runs incredibly slowly from launch to every aspect, even typing, opening pages, selecting menu buttons etc. It is in fact damaging my businesses productivity no end.
I have searched many forums, found one that suggested upating Java to jdk-7u45-macosx-x64, and other suggesting Java SE 6. I have tried both to little effect.
On this forum I saw a similar issues raised for Dreamweaver CC, where it was suggested to uninstall java 7, and then launch DW where a popup box would appear with a download for Java 6, but that doesnt happen for me on CS6.
Any and all help would be hugley appreciated!
    Ash Bullman

    @AshBullam -
Can you please have a look at this thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/5831680#5831680 too. We have seen performance  degradations on opening files on relaunch and are looking into it.
Can you too try out the below steps :
Make sure you donot open files on relaunch
Close all other open applications and see if performance is better

  • Everything on my Macbook Pro with Mavericks runs very slowly

I have a 13" macbook pro with Mavericks operating system, and it is only a little over a year old. In the last 2 or 3 months everything on the computer has been running incredibly slowly.
I first noticed it when streaming online videos, the audio would be several seconds ahead of the video, but the lagging has started everywhere else too. When I type the text appears several seconds after it has been typed, it takes much longer than it should to scroll down webpages and the cursor often freezes, I have even noticed a very long lag switching between webpages or applications.
I have very few things saved on this computer, just some Word documents and pictures. I did have Sims 3 installed but I uninstalled it thinking it may be the problem.
I have also noticed a very audible metallic plinking noise that could be unrelated. It started ] maybe 2 months before the lagging did and sounds like it's coming from the bottom right hand corner of the computer. I'm considering resetting my computer to factory settings because I haven't been able to find anything to fix this issue.

The hard drive is located in the bottom right of your model and I experienced a very similar issue twice in less than a year of purchase. I suggest you back all your data up as soon as possible as it may be the signs of a hard drive beginning to fail. My symptoms were it would take longer to start up and I would get the spinning ball when I secondary clicked. Before it would fail, I would try and repair errors found in disk utility and it would say it could not be repaired, back up as much data as you can. By that point, it was too late to back anything up. From there, I would get a loading bar on startup and once it loaded, it would shut down.  But it could be a less serious issue as well. It could also be the SMC, PRAM, or errors in your hard drive's coding. But before you follow these steps, back all your stuff up that you want or need in case it is your hard drive. Boot the machine into recovery mode by holding in command and r as soon as you turn it on. After it loads, you should get a box to pick your language. Select your language and select disk utility. In there, click Macintosh HD and verify the disk. If anything appears in red text, there are errors that need to be fixed. All you have to do is click repair. If it says they can't be repaired and to back up your data, your hard drive may have failed. To reset the SMC, plug in the mac and shut it down. On the left side, located the control, option, and shift keys. Hold those down along with the power button. Hold it for a few seconds and let them go. It's normal the machine won't turn on and the light on the charger will change state. Next, reset the PRAM. Shut down the Mac and located command, option, P, and R on your keyboard. You're going to turn on the Mac and as soon as you do so, hold those four keys down. It's going to shut down immediately but keep holding them in. It will turn on and make the "bong" noise like it normally does. Let it cycle about two or three times and let the keys go and wait for it to start up.
I hope this helps and good luck!

  • My MacBook Pro (mid 2009) is running very slowly...

So, I have a mid 2009 macbook pro, with plenty of space left on the hard drive and without (I think) troublesome software to slow it down - I generally only run mail, safari, itunes and word.
It's recently, for no reason, started to run incredibly slowly - the spinning rainbow wheel of death makes an appearance a lot. Can't see why or what's caused it - is there a way of diagnosing why without taking it in to a genius bar?
    Thanks.

I don't recommend you to restore a Time Machine backup because the same problem will appear if there's a software issue. First, install Mountain Lion without restoring the backup and check that the battery works correctly

  • Adobe Illustrator will not launch when Flash is running

A few of our users have reported that once Flash is running Adobe Illustrator will not launch. We are moving from Windows XP SP2 to Windows XP SP3. The version of both Illustrator and Flash is CS2 (will be upgraded later to CS3).
This used to work on SP2 - anyone can give some hints on this?

  • Since I installed yosemite I get a window to install legacy JAVA SE 6 RUNTIME and can't run ADOBE Illustrator Cs6 without it .

So anything LEGACY means it is probably not supported and chocked full of security  issues.
what JAVA flavor do I need to install?
    WHat do I do ?
I have a lot of work to do...
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Try this:
Download Java for Mac OS X 2014-001 from http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1572.
Install the Java update using the downloaded .dmg file.
When installation is complete, a Software Update dialog box appears. The dialog box asserts that Java SE 6 Runtime is required to run Adobe Illustrator CS6.
In the Software Update dialog box, click Install.
    Launch Illustrator.
In Adobe Illustrator CS6 some plug-ins has dependency on Java, therefore Java is required for them to function properly.
