Adobe Illustrator Won't Save My Prefences

Terribly frustrating. Each time I open Illustrator, I see it has not saved my preferences. "Scale Stroke and Effects" is unchecked; Units = Inches; and so on.

You may save certain settings for use in new documents through the Startup_CMYK and Startup_RGB documents; save new versions of these files (you may save the default versions with another name first) in the Plug‑ins folder in the Adobe Illustrator application folder.

Adobe Reader won't save forms under Mavericks.

After installing Mavericks on a Mac, discovered that Adobe Reader won't save forms or e-mail them with the filled-in information. DOes anyone know a fix? Does anyone know if this is also true for Acrobat?

The reason is Adobe has not updated there software yet to play well with Mavericks. The fault is of course with the Adobe Software. I suggest you go to there web site and see if they have a fix yet for there software, If not all you can do is continue to check back with them or get on there fourms and see what others have to say about this same issue.

Adobe Illustrator Won't Open

I installed Adobe Illustrator CS4 and it won't open. I tried deleting all the Adobe preference files and it still didn't work. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the program and it still didn't work. Any ideas?

I have been trying to install the trial of Adobe Illustrator CS6 and everytime I try to install the program it tells me installation failed. It doesn't give me an error number or anything it just gives me troubleshoot tips and won't let me continue with the installation. Please help?

Why don't my Adobe Illustrator CC preferences save?

The user defined swatches is greyed out and workspaces don't save either. I am a standard user but have been given full permissions to the Macintosh HD\Applications\Adobe Illustrator CC\en_gb folders. Any ideas please?

What exactly happens when you try to make a new workspace, what message do you get or does nothing get saved at all. Can you successfully reset your preferences?
Do you have any files in your user defined swatches folder, they will be greyed out until you have save a .ai or .ase file in this folder
/Users/(YOURNAME)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS?/en_US/Swatches/filename.ase.
Try a standard filename also as they can get finicky on a space at beginning or colon or backslash.
Try running disk utility to repair permissions

Free trial of Adobe Illustrator won't download

Hello all! I've been trying to download the free trial of Adobe Illustrator, but it won't even start to download. I have downloaded Creative Cloud as well as the updated Adobe Assistant, which is also not working. It should be noted that I am using my older sister's old computer. She had Illustrator on her Mac, but uninstalled every app so that I could have a more room on the computer. I wish she hadn't done that lol, but if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them! Chow!

Illustrator won't save, not enough RAM/memory

I am trying to save an illustrator file (39in by 27in), usually it won't save, but when it does a dialog box says I don't have enough memory. I've saved files of this size before without any issues. Please help!

We can't know. We know nothing about your system, your file, your version of AI. Most likely this simply relates to an appearance effect trying to render for the updated embedded preview in the file, so turning off PDF compatibility may resolve the issue. Otherwise check for anything that may cause rasterization.

I downloaded Adobe Illustrator through the Creative Cloud but when I try to launch it, it says " this link needs to be open with an application. Which application do I choose?

You need to instal lthe application manager/ Creative Cloud app first that register the AAM protocol handler on your system.

Adobe Illustrator won't open after install.

I downloaded AI off of the creative cloud, but it won't open. I see the process "illustrator.exe" come up in the task manager, stays for about 30 seconds, then exits. There's no splash screen or anything. I've reinstalled it twice, and looked at the install log.

Illustrator won't save when a gradient is being used...

In CS4, as soon as I apply a gradient and try to save, I get an error message. I've tried saving as all file types. I was able to export the image as a jpeg but would like the know how to fix the problem.

It seems that something is seriously wrong.
You may try the following (you may have tried/done some of them already) and see whether it helps:
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer;
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup;
4) Move the folder with Illy closed;
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options;
If you have Windows Hasta la Vista, you should apply 2) in all cases.
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Illustrator won't save

When I go to Save or Save as, it brings up the dialogue box so I can chose a folder and give the file a name, but when I hit the "Save" button in the bottom right of the dialogue box, the dialogue box goes away but nothing else happens. The document doesn't save and it's title remains, "Untitled-1.ai".

It may be time for the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

My Adobe Illustrator is CS6 and it corrupts the file if I save it using accents. How do I fix this?
I mean, if I save a file called "crachá" I'm using an accent on "a" so it showed as "á" but if I do this Illustrator says the following error:
"The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different foulder"
and when I try to open it says:
"The file "Crachá.ai" is in an unknown format and cannot be opened."
So, my solution is to create a new file and call it "Cracha", without the accent. But it never happened before. How can I fix this legitimately?

As for the resolution problem: upsampling an image doesn't improve its quality, because there's simply not enough information there.
As for the warning you get: it's most likely caused by RGB color mode or by placed RGB content that interacts with other content in the file (e.g. because you applied transparency)

You need to understand what's happening on conversion of RGB to CMYK color space, which will happen when printing to offset presses. When you print on office printers, something else happens and all kinds of color may come out, because these machines sometimes do their own color correction and everything depends on how you set up the machine.
Provided you check the PDF in Acrobat: you need to set up color management there as well. This might lead to the differences (greenish) you're seeing.
Find a good book on color management and read the manual:

Before sending files to a print service provider you need to get information on how they need the file. Most providers won't accept PDFs generated with "No color conversion". Or they won't guarantee for the output.
What you see on your monitor won't necessarily match the printed result unless your system is correctly calibrated and color management set up. And even then there might be differences.
Can't you contact this former colleague, pay him an amount of money and let him teach you the tools of the trade?

Adobe Illustrator (CS5) keeps crashing when I try to save my files

So in the last few weeks, my adobe illustrator has started acting up and won't save my files unless they are in the folder that the program makes itself. Those are usually files with long names that are a series of numbers and letters. Even if I copy and paste the name into a search, my computer isn't able to locate the folder, which makes it impossible to do any work because it will only save to one place. Has anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it?

Does this help any? I'm trying to save my files to my desktop (or anywhere locatable for that matter) But it only allows me to save to this file for some reason. Even if I copy and paste the name of the file, it does not appear when I try to find my file outside of AI. When I try to choose a different location, I get the error message below
