Adobe in Design CS6 crashes when exporting to pdf

I am running MAC OSX version 10.8.5 and every time i am trying to export a pdf from inDesign CS6 is chrashing. And i am doing the same loop again and again with the same results.
The inDesign file is large (<8gb) and most of the items inside are embended. Thought i did this procedure several times in the past and everything was working fine.
How can i possibly solve this issue?
Any ideas why this is happening?

I am using inDesign to create a product catalogue that consists more than 1000 HQ photos that are linked as psd files. After i am embending each link to the inDesign file in order to have everything in one file and not spending time to find links that are unlinked. In that inDesign file i use 5 master pages. Each product has it's own description bellow. Collecting all texts will be a very time consuming procedure.
I used to export in pdf previously but now something happened wrong? Might be an update of inDesing?
When trying to export a single page it does it. When trying to export 50 pages it crashes. Any help please?

My editor edits with Incopy 6, everything goes well until she wants to export a pdf, Incopy 6 then crashes. Incopy 5.5 does not have this problem. Please point me in the right direction, as we have extremely tight deadlines and no other way of working.

  • Mac In Design CS3: Crashing when exporting to PDF

I have been trying to get ID to export to pdf for 2 days now.. and it keeps crashing. Has someone else had this problem too? If so can you please tell me how to fix the issue... I need to get this project in and I am at a loss here. Even if someone can export to pdf for me and then I can research this more at a slower place.. you know how it is with deadlines..
Thanks for any help on this
    Kris

For what it's worth, you can get a fairly decent idea of why InDesign crashed by looking at the stack trace in the crash report logfile. You can either open the most recent file in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporer (named something like "Adobe InDesign CS4_2009-DATE-TIME_MACHINE.crash") use TextEdit or something similar, or when Adobe's crashreporter pops up, click "Crash Data" in the lower-left corner:
And then when the crash report pops up, look for the "Crashed Thread" line to tell you which thread crashed (usually Thread 0). Then scroll down to the section for that thread ("Thread 0 Crashed:") and look at the decoded stack trace (boxed in red at right):
In this case, it's not too illuminating since I forced InDesign to crash while it was idle, so it was sitting in CFRunLoopRunSpecific when it crashed. But my most recent real crash, for instance, looked like this:
    Thread 0 Crashed:
    0   ???                         01c080d8 _XHNDL_trapback_instruction + 0
    1   com.adobe.InDesign.INXCore  34f73598 GetPlugIn + 185048
    2   com.adobe.InDesign.INXCore  34f74174 GetPlugIn + 188084
    3   PublicLib.dylib             01712db6 CScriptDOMElement::GetChildElements(..$
    4   com.adobe.InDesign.INXCore  34f8136c INXStyleInfo::NormalizeStyle(...
    5   com.adobe.InDesign.INXCore  34f81ff9 INXStyleInfo::NormalizeStyle(...
    6   com.adobe.InDesign.INXCore  34f7c513 INXStyleInfo::NormalizeStyle(...
    7   com.adobe.InDesign.INXCore  34f7d45c INXStyleInfo::NormalizeStyle(...
    8   com.adobe.InDesign.SaveBack 46b469e3 GetPlugIn + 24403
    9   com.adobe.InDesign.SaveBack 46b473ab GetPlugIn + 26907
which was in the middle of an INX export. It seems like it crashed in a call to a 3rd-party plugin (GetPlugin+185048), which was called from within the same plugin, which was called by GetChildElements(), which was called by NormalizeStyle(). So one might suspect that this problem has something to do with both the 3rd-party plugin and the styles in the document. Just an example.
Even if it's inscrutable to you, posting it on the forums will probably help, or at least give people some ideas.

  • Indesign CS6 8.0.1. crashes when exporting a PDF

I am having a problem with Indesign CS6 8.0.1. When exporting a PDF Indesign crashes everytime. Here is the crash report http://pastebin.com/qYu9cWwP
    I am on a mac running 10.7.5
This happens with every file I try to export every time.

I don't know what it means, but the crashed thread is making the same call: 511 com.adobe.InDesign.Print            0x17bf6703 GetPlugIn + 497427 more than 500 times. Are you exporting to PDF, or printing?

  • Indesign CS6 crashes on export to PDF

This has happened to me several times in the past few months and it always seems to be related to an image file -- either an eps or pdf file that's in the document. Once I replace or remove the image, the PDF exporter works. The problem is that I cannot always replace or remove the offending image. I've contacted Adobe regarding this issue and sent them the files that caused the problem and they found no fault with either image. So why does this keep happening?
I thought it was a font issue, but the one document had no text in it -- just images. I've also tried the same file on my laptop (also running CS6) and the exact same thing happened where it crashed on export to PDF. I do not have any font managment software running on my laptop besides FontBook (whereas on my desktop I'm using Font Agent Pro).
    I'm on a mac OS 10.7.5 using CS6 Design & Web edition.
Here is the crash report for the latest problem: http://pastebin.com/zLQG7GE1

Hi, and thanksfor your help. I have tried deleting the font cache using onyx.. Is there a difference between the files onyx deletes and the ones font explorer can access? Anyhow, that had not helped, but safe starting the mac did.. Indesign would export to pdf without crashing.
Now I have tried to figure out what is causing the problem by force quitting process using the activity monitor. And I am struggeling to find the culprit. It still crashes even after turning off almost everything I can find. I have attached the full list of my current processes.. Anything stick out to you?
To answer the other questions, I have no plugins installed in indesign, and I use no font manager. I have use indesign without incident since june 2009, and it kindof just happened overnight, no new software or font was installed that I can recall, but also to be honest I cannot remeber when I last exported to pdf, so I cannot rule it out either, but I am hopeful that I can get to the bottom of this with your help.
Thank you both so much for your help.. My hair thanks you. As does everyone around me.. :-)

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Standard crashes when we create pdf from scanner

We are using adobe acrobat XI standard, version 11.0.06
    WIndows 7 Pro 64 bit
    scanner: Xerox documate 4799
Acrobat crashes when we create pdf from scanner

Spent quite a while on this one..  My problem was related to twain drivers which reside in c:\windows\twain_32.  I'm running windows 7 64-bit.  First it's usually possible to scan in windows 7 maybe vista and from adobe without even using twain (using WIA).  So try renaming the twain_32 folder to _twain_32 and see what happens...  If that stops the crashing look at the contents of the twain folder.  I had a Dell folder for some printer I wasn't even using.  That was causing the crash. I removed the dell folder and renamed the twain folder back to twain_32.  Now everything works as designed.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS6 crashes when quit

    OS X 10.7.4
    Multiple hardware types
Adobe Media Encoder CS6 as installed from Adobe Production Premium CS6.  NOTE:  CS6 was installed under a different user than the new user that is having AME crash.
    Issue:
Open AME.  Encode a file or do not encode a file because the end result does not matter.  Now quit AME (either hotkey or File --> Quit).  AME then crashes.  Keep in mind that no other CS6 programs are affected this way, just AME.
I ran into this problem weeks ago and found a solution that worked.  The fix was to delete one of the many many folders Adobe creates in your user folder.  The problem now is I cannot find that same posting where the fix was listed.
I deleted this "mystery folder" we will call it and then AME CS6 worked fine.  The catch was that I had to redo the whole "Adobe ID" sign in BS and retype the serial number when I opened one of the other programs.
Any guesses as to where this folder might be so I can delete it again?  I was hoping some others may have run into this same issue.  I will keep looking for the fix, and post it back here if I finally find it.

Just deleting the Adobe Media Encoder folder in the given directory works just fine and this saves a lot of trouble because your settings are maintained as are your presets.
But thanks a lot for the help

  • InDesign cs6 crashes when exporting objects with drop shadows to interactive PDF

I am using the trial version of InDesign CS6 on a mac OSX 10.7.4  I need to export my document as an interactive PDF. I have found that the export works fine so long as none of the objects within my document have a drop shadow. However, if I add a drop shadow to any object (text, images, or video) InDesign will crash when I try to export. I am adding the drop shadow by selecting the object and then choosing Object > Effects > Drop Shadow. Is there another method I should be using to add the shadow if I want to export to an Interactive PDF?

Hi Peter, thanks for the response. Yes, I have tried creating a new blank project and adding one text object with a drop shadow and then exporting to Interactive PDF, and I experienced  the same result. I tried replacing my preferences as you suggested and found that it did not have any affect.
I continued developing my InDesign document without using any drop shadows and began to experience the same type of crashing under two more circumstances. 1. When relinking assets in my Links panel. 2. When exporting to interactive PDF with interactive objects that are being clipped (I get a warning telling me I have clipped objects before I export; when I click export I experience the same crash.) I have tried exporting the same file to a print (non-interactive) PDF and experienced no crashing.
I thought I should mention that I am using a retina display mac book pro with 16GB RAM. Could my graphics cards or the configureation of my machine be causing my issue?
    Thanks so much,

  • Indesign CS6 just started crashing when exporting to pdf - help?

I just got Indesign CS6 a few weeks ago and I'm using it on a new macbook pro. I had exported to pdf a few times with no problem. Today, I tried the same thing and Indesign began quitting for no apparent reason. I already tried restarting my computer. Any suggestions?

Hmmm...maybe I should try that. InDesign causes Acrobat to crash about half the time when I export it out as an Interactive PDF. The only thing is, it has always happened on all my ID files and it happens sporadically. If it crashes, I just do it once or twice again and it works. That would be the only reason I wouldn't think this will be my issue.
I'll go through the process a few times and see what happens...thanks.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 crashing when making edits

I everyone. I migrated to Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (I need to finish a couple of project before I can update the computer to CC and Mac OS 10.8.) and it's been crashing right from the begining. It's a random crash but my impression that it becomes more probable as the projects grow.
It happens whenever I'm editing and I press the shortcut for "overwrite" or "insert". (It also happens when I press the icon or move the clip to the timeline)
The screen message I get is this one:
The log message that I get afterwards goes as follows:
On previous days, I've been able to keep working just by deleting the Media database preview files from Premiere but it's not working anymore.
I'm working with XMF files shot with a Canon C300 synced using premiere to sound files (.wav). It only happens when I try to edit but it doesn't matter if I try to edit sound, sound and image or just image.
What it doesn't make sense is that it says something about "dynamic lynk" and, as far as I know, I'm not using dynamic link at all.
Thanks in advance for your time and wisdom
    Jaime From Spain

Now, a few updates after a very long night (just in case it might  help somebody)
Up until last night, I was saving my Premiere Projects in a Dropbox Folder inside my computer. It was a quick safe way of having a backup copy. Well, it seems that the crash is somehow related. Don't ask me why but once I moved the project file to a regular hard drive (actually a RAID0 where I keep my heavier files) the crashes have stopped.
This morning I went back to the dropbox idea with a new project and -Voilá!- after three hours of work, it crashed again. I moved the file to the RAID disk and no more crashes. My guess is that it is somehow related to the auto-save files that premiere keeps saving. Once it reaches a certain amount (around 20 in my experience) dropbox and Premiere start to do something weird and they crash the software... (It might be related to the software dropbox uses to keep your folders updated and keep backup versions of everything)
I'll run a few tests next week trying to keep the Auto-save files out of dropbox and just the regular files there to see what happens.
    Best regards
    Jaime

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 crashing when importing HDV Video

For some reason I keep getting crashes when importing HDV (720p60) video into the timeline of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.  This has happened on two different machines, with similar specs.
Per the suggested guidelines, here are the specifics:
    Version of Premiere Pro: CS6, Version 6.0.5 (001 (MC:264587))
    All updates have been installed.
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.8.5.
Source footage: HDV 720p60 video in .MOV container.
Full text of error message: "Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down.  We will attempt to save your current project."
Link to full crash report: http://goo.gl/Gn8Bzn
Crash occurs when trying to import HDV .MOV file.
This is a consistent problem when importing .MOV files of this type.
Complete Adobe Creative Suite is installed.  Also using Episode Pro encoding software from Telestream to prepare HDV video.  No other external video hardware or codecs installed.
Yes, I am using the Mecury Playback Engine GPU acceleration.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me figure this one out.

  • InDesign CS6 crashing when exporting as a PDF (not font problem)

I have attempted exporting my PDF with all different kinds of settings. It's only an 8 page document. It has about 15 low res jpgs in it. I used a stock Adobe font. There are a several hyperlinks in the file but, mostly it is just text. I have no idea how to fix this. And naturally, I need it for work tomorrow. I do get one error message saying that there is overlaying text on 3 of 8 pages, but I really don't think that is something that would cause this problem. Any ideas??? Thanks!

I thought that's what that link was for...the crash report I posted to pastebin. I have never used that site before. Sorry.
Alas, I was able to get it work...after 5-6 hours of working on it. I ended up saving it as an IDML (again, the first time didn't work). It replaced all the images with gray squares, but at least I had the content. The images were the least of my worries. I recreated the entire doc (borrowed every page but page 4) to get away from whatever that was about and just redid the layout for page 4. It exported perfectly as a PDF and is now on the boss lady's desk, just in time.
Thank you all for all of your help!
