Adobe InContext Editing on Intranet Sites

Hello,
I am a devleoper and working on our organizations site and many people need access to edit certain areas of the page with no experience at all. I love the idea of InContext but not sure how i can get it to work for this. As any organization, we have a very secure intranet environment. Can we purchase a stand alone of in context? Is there ways to do this? IF not can anyone suggest a product that does. Thanks.

Hello belltek1,
InContext Editing does not currently support editing pages of intranet sites. InContext Editing can only edit public sites. (here is a related post about this: http://forums.adobe.com/message/28496)
Best regards,
Corey

    CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE
    1. CTRL E has never worked and I have always edited my site via a link that my web designer has given me ,I don't get an error message just nothing happens,  any ideas?
    2. When I go through the link given to me by my web designer to edit the site the site appears but everything is smaller, font boxes etc, and not the correct size, I can edit ,however when I then exit editing and  check to see if my site has changed nothing has .
Viewing the site outside of incontext editing all is normal, correct size etc , it is only when I'm in editing that the site appears different and not right. This is a recent problem and all  ( apart from CTRL E )  has been fine.
Its almost like I have 2 websites one out here and one in incontext editing , any suggestions
    Many thanks

    That's correct Corey.
The client is in Cyprus accessing the editor through a Firefox browser, which he had been successfully doing for some time now.
His representative, using the same login and password in Canada is able to access the editor fine.
I've since sent him a seperate login invitation
I've asked him to try another browser / computer.
    update his flash
He said his flash wouldn't update, so I don't know if it's an issue with his browser, computer, or user.
I'm waiting on the other two action items.
    Thanks for your involvement.

  • Adobe 'InContext Editing' - use with DW8?

Hi, I am keen to use Adobe's 'Incontext Editing' service for CMS.  However I am using Dreamweaver ver 8 and it seems that this service is only available to CS4 users?
Although I will upgrade to CS4 in the end does anyone have any advice for a 'get around'? Is there an 'Incontext Editing' extension available for DW8 ...or can I implement 'Incontext Editing' by simply making HTML changes from within 'code view'?
    Many thanks
    Simon

Thanks for your feedback on a workaround.  I'm not quite sure if I understand what you mean. Are you referring to the ability to set up Editable Regions via the browser .....?
I have worked out that by inserting code using DW8 such as <div ice:editable="*" id="content"> I can go so far in preparing the document for making changes.  I wonder if there is another resource for other ICE codes?
    Many thanks

  • How do i remove incontext editing to allow contribute to work

Hi, I am hoping someone maybe able to help...
A while ago I put a site together at applied incontext editing regions. After being notified that it will no longer work in May this year, I decided to purchase contribute and went through the labourious task of removing all incontext editable regions and replacing them with normal editable regions.
I have launched the site in contribute to test that everything works and it keeps coming up with 'You can't edit this page in Contribute because it has "Adobe InContext Editing" region(s).
This is on almost every page on the site but two which it allows me to edit. I have gone back to the Dreamweaver file and checked through the code, I am certainly no code expertI have compared it to sites which didnt have the InContext applied to it... I am baffled
Can anyone shed any light on the situation?
    Much appreciated
    Naomi

For anyone that has a similar problem....
I have now sorted the problem - my dreamweaver was not updating the server copy. I used FETCH as a secondary option by dragging and dropping the files. It updated the files and its now working! YAY!
I had to make sure all incontext code was removed at the top of the code there was a line as well as along side each editable region. I even took out the editable regions and replaced them with normal editing regions (not Incontext).

  • How do I remove "ALL" incontext editing code?

I think I can see the problem! - I have updated the file in dreamweaver but it
is not updating the copy on the server when I upload it...
I can see the code that I have deleted still showing at the top of the page - I just cant get it to refresh!
I will try doing it with fetch.....
Just done it with fetch and it works! - Dreamweaver will not refresh the server copy.

  • Incontext editing disappears after cntrl E and putting login in

unable to edit through incontext editing on a submitted website.  It was accessible for about a week and now this week it doesn't.  It asks for the adobe logon and the header and footer of the adobe incontext editing screen shows up and then it disappears and then switches back to original site, being unable to edit.
I am in desperate need for help.  I have requested help 2 days ago through the help portion of incontext editing but have not heard anything back.  Any ideas, any help at all?  Thank you.

    Hello ohwhyme,
Please post the URL for the site you're having problems with.
Also, what browser, version and OS are you using? Does editing work in a different browser?
    Best regards,
    Corey

  • Create new InContext Editing accounts functionality unavailable starting Saturday Oct 31 at 7pm PDT until Sunday Nov 1 at noon PST

The Adobe InContext Editing service will undergo scheduled maintenance starting on Saturday Oct 31 at 7pm PDT and end Sunday Nov 1 at noon PST. However, the service will be available during this time. The only area affected by this outage will be the new account creation. During this time, you won’t be able to create new InContext Editing accounts.
We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

This really should have gone out in an email to InContext users.  Not a huge deal, but I spent 20 minutes testing a site in various browsers, and looking on forums before i found this . . .
    Just an idea.
    Thanks.

  • How is i-Dialogue different from InContext Editing?

When I introduced Adobe InContext Editing to my Marketing Team, one of the members emailed me this link to see if it was the same idea:

i-Dialogue is something more componant based and ties databases and Saleforce (online sales management tool) into your sites.  It's geared towards the medium to large business that require
    They describe the product as:
"This powerful scripting and query environment allows customers to build or modify interactive web pages, forms and applications that seamlessly integrate complex data sources from Salesforce or other applications, all from a Web browser."
InContext Editing is ment for the average consumer without a lot of bells and whistles to complicate your users experience.
    The biggest difference...the price.
i-Dialogue starts at $200 / month up to $1000 / month...and that doesn't include any add ons or charges for bandwidth overages. Many of which start at $1000 each.
Just take a look at the pricing page and you'll see i-Dialogue will quickly rack up in massive monthly costs:  http://www.cubiccompass.com/editionsandpricing.aspx

  • How much will InContext Editing cost?

When I first looked at InContext Editing, a warning was given that eventually this would be a paid service.  I can't get any idea from helpdesk staff as to the likely cost.  I'd like to suggest (website design) customers use it but need to be able to tell them what it might cost them.  Does anyone have an idea?

    Hi Corey
Not sure if this reaches you directly.....
The FAQ you quote has the following:
The Adobe InContext Editing service will be available in October 2008 as a free preview for users in the United States.
I seem to be able to use the preview version from the UK, although I've only tried adding and editing a test site.  Is this because my email is hosted by an American company or have you extended the preview to customers outside the United States?
    Thanks for the quick response.

  • Incontext editing problem with firefox 3.6 and safari

when i try to login to a page with ctrl + e the following message comes up:
"You have Adobe Flash Player version 10,0,2 installed.
Adobe  InContext Editing requires Adobe Flash Player version 10,0,12 or higher.
    Install Adobe Flash Player"
but i have the latest version ...
in safari i always had that problem, in firefox it worked, but not after i updated to 3.6
it still works with chrome, but anyway ...
    anybody a clue?
    thanks!

I'm finding that Muse doesn't work well in older browsers, since it uses technology they don't understand. I think if we design sites in Muse, we're assuming that viewers are using newer browsers.
