Adobe InCopy CS4 Missing Fonts...

I have a few users who are dealing with an InCopy file provided by a third party vendor who does their Marketing gazettes and logos, etc... Upon purchasing InCopy CS4, when opening the document provided, they receive a message stating "Missing Fonts" and they include:
Franklin Gothic Extra Condensed
ITC Franklin Gothic (T1) Demi
ITC Franklin Gothic (T1) Heavy
Helvetica Neue (T1) 27 Ultra Light Condensed
Helvetica Neue (T1) 97 Black Condensed
Helvetica Neue (T1) 57 Condensed
Helvetica Neue (T1) 37 Thin Condensed Oblique
Helvetica Neue (T1) 57 Condensed Oblique
Helvetica Neue (T1) 47 Light Condensed Oblique
Helvetica Neue (T1) 47 Light Condensed
Helvetica Neue (T1) 65 Medium
Helvetica Neue (T1) 77 Bold Condensed
I had went to MyFonts.com and downloaded one to test: Franklin Gothic Extra Condensed. The link to the one that I had purchased is here: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/bitstream/franklin-gothic/extra-condensed/
The font is installed, but Adobe does not see it. MS Word sees the font fine along with other applications. Did I purchase the wrong font or am I not doing something right with Adobe?
I have been working with this issue for a few weeks now, and are willing to try whatever I can to get the font seen by the application.
Any help with this would be much appreciated, or simliar approaches to the same problem.
-E ([email protected])

I am having a similar problem. I get the list of "missing" fonts. Problem is, I have them installed but in a couple of cases the names are slightly different.
InCopy sees the fonts, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to substitute them, let alone permanently.

  • CS4 - Missing Fonts Loader Plug-in?

I apologize if this has already been asked, but I am having difficulty with the missing fonts loader plug-in.
Q:  Can some please give me a detailed (step-by-step) instructions for installing this plug in for CS4?
Q:  What is this Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package required for CS 4?
    I need some assistance, please.
Thank you very much for any help!

I meant to add this as well.
Missing Fonts Loader Plug-in for Adobe InDesign CS4
The plug-in for Adobe InDesign CS4 is available on the Proxima Software Web site. This plug-in can automatically
activate missing fonts in Adobe InDesign documents.
    Missing Fonts Loader Plug In
Product Adobe InDesign CS4 version 6.0
Description Automatic Activation of Missing Fonts
    Operating System Microsoft Windows
Requirements Your missing fonts must be located in FontExpert
Groups (visible in the Groups view).
    FontExpert 2009 version 10.0.
The plug-in may also work with FontExpert of earlier
versions 9 and 8, but FontExpert 2009 version 10.0 is
    recommended.
    File Name MissingFontsLoader.pln
    How to Install the Plug-in
    NOTE
The plug-in for InDesign CS4 requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package
(available on the Proxima Software Web site, http://www.proximasoftware.com/download.htm ).
Copy the MissingFontsLoader.pln file to the Adobe InDesign plug-ins folder:
    c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\Plug-Ins\MissingFontsLoader\MissingFontsLoader.pln
    and RESTART Adobe InDesign.
(Where "c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\" is the folder where Adobe InDesign is installed.)
Using the Missing Fonts Loader Plug-in
This plug-in has an activation option: automatic (recommended) or manual.
    Automatic Activation
The Missing Fonts Loader Plug-in loads missing fonts automatically when you open an Adobe InDesign document.
The plug-in searches for fonts in font groups defined in FontExpert. If a missing font is not found in the FontExpert
Groups view, it will not be activated, and the font will be marked by InDesign as a missing font (for the current
    document).
    3
Missing Fonts Loader Plug-In for Adobe InDesign CS4
In the picture below, the Missing Fonts Loader window shows an empty list of missing fonts for the current
document, because all fonts were activated automatically:
    4
Missing Fonts Loader Plug-In for Adobe InDesign CS4
When InDesign opens the document, it may still mark fonts as missing, even though they were actually activated
by the plug-in during the opening of the document. In this case, you may be required to reopen document to let
InDesign know that all missing fonts are now activated.
The font information xml file helps solve this problem. It is recommended to select the Use font information xml
files option. Every time you save the .indd document, the Missing Fonts Loader plug-in will create a small xml file.
This xml file will include the list of fonts used in the corresponding .indd document. When this xml file is present,
the plugin can activate fonts just before the InDesign actually opens the document and searches it for missing
fonts. (You will find the xml file near the Adobe InDesign .indd document on your computer.)
    Manual Activation
When the Activate Missing Fonts Automatically checkbox is cleared, the plug-in
does not activate missing fonts when you open the document. You can open the plug-in
    window and activate fonts manually.
The Missing Fonts Loader window shows the list of missing fonts in current document:
    5
Missing Fonts Loader Plug-In for Adobe InDesign CS4
Click the Activate All button to activate missing fonts.
    Important Note
Unfortunately, when missing fonts are activated manually, you are usually required to close the InDesign
document and open it again to let the document "know" that new fonts became available. This is the
    disadvantage of manual activation.

  • Adobe indesign cs4 (New font instalation)

How can I install new font from adobe Indesgn cs4?
Please help me to the procedure of install the new font!
I have use the following steps---
    Windows>Control Panel>fonts>Install new fonts
    But Its does not work.

    >I have use the following steps---
    >Windows>Control Panel>fonts>Install new fonts
That's not the way to do it, you need a couple more steps.
Insert the CS4 'Extras' DVD (something like that; it's clearly labeled). From within the "Install new fonts" dialog, browse to the DVD and in there to the folder containing the fonts you want to install. If you are there, wait a bit while the list is being read. If the list fills up, select the ones you want to install (or simply choose "Select All") and press OK.
    (Note that this has
    i nothing
to do with InDesign. It's your basic Windows base. Buy any guide and you'll find it there.)

Where do I find this missing font? Edwardian Font was loading perfectly. Now it is missing why?

In the AME preferences, can you please try turning off Native Sequence Loading then run the export again. Please let me know if that fixes the issue so we can get a bug logged.

  • InDesign CS4 missing fonts

I'll try this again.  After upgrading from CS2 to CS4, there are many fonts missing from my system, in particular the Warnock Pro family.  How do I get it back?

My CS2 Premium came withe a disk called Resources and Extras, and in that disk is a folder called Goodies. In the InDesign subfolder you'll find some fonts. Ther is also a folder called documentation, and in that folder you'll find another called Fonts which is where Bickham Script Pro and Warnock Pro are hidden.
Similarly, CS4 came with a disk labeled Content, with a Goodies folder containg a Fonts subfolder. I'm not sure about wheter you woould get those disk images with a download, but I think so.
You can install those fonts normally as with any font -- you wouldn't need to run the CS2 or CS4 installer to access them.

Apparently you are exporting a Pr project and that project has a title that uses the mentioned font. Make sure this font is installed and activated.

  • Photoshop cs4 missing fonts

I accidently deleted some fonts that are required for a project that I'm working on.  My question is, is there anywhere I can go within the document to be able to retieve the vital information?  All I need is the name of the specific fonts I used.
Also I use FontAgent Pro 4 and it says it has a type of auto activation of fonts needed.  Will this work with cs4 when a document needs certain fonts required to kick in?  If there's a better product like suitcase you guys recommend I'd appreciate the input.
    Thanks!

FAP can only activate fonts that are on the machine. If you deleted them you will need to reinstall the deleted fonts.

FontAgent Pro is the best product. Suitcase has always been crap.

  • Can't get newly-installed Adobe InCopy to open/create files

I have a user's computer which I upgraded the OS on (10.4.11 to 10.6.5), and afterwards I went to check to see if InCopy runs. It couldn't open any files. After awhile, I realized that it couldn't do File->New either. If I open a file, spinning beachball of death. If I launch the app without a file, I can wander about the menus fine, until I do File->Open, which brings up an OpenPanel, or File->New which brings up a panel with some page configurations. As soon as I click on the "OK" or "Continue" button in one of those panels, it's over -- spinning beachball, with Force Quit the only way out. So
I started over -- ran uninstall and install -- here is what I have done:
    1. Ran the uninstaller, ticking the remove preferences option.
    2. Put all remaining InCopy files that I could find in the trash, emptied the trash.
    3. Ran the CS5 cleanup tool which I found on the adobe support site. (It cleans up CS3 and CS4 installs, too.)
    4. Looked around for Library/Preferences/Adobe/In Copy is root Library and each user's directory, trashed everything.
    5. Used applejack to fsck the disk, repair permissions, clean system and user caches, clean up virtual memory.
    6. Rebooted, logged in to an administrator account, ran the "Setup" program inside the InCopy installer. Put in the license number, set it to install everything on the list (recommended).
    7. Used Get Info on the /Applications/Adobe In Copy folder to set its permissions and the permissions of all files down the tree to read+write for everyone.
    8. Launched InCopy, Clicked on File->New and hit "Continue" on the panel. Program hangs.
    9. Force Quit InCopy.
    10. If I use AdobeUpdate to Update to 6.0.6 I get exactly the same behavior.
    11. If I update to 6.0.5 I get the same behavior.
    12. If I try to open an existing InCopy file, it hangs the same way.
    13. Enabled the root account repeated the entire rigamorole as root.
    14. Deleted In Copy and associated files as root, installed as administrator.
    15. Try running as root and as (non-privileged) users.
My own computer runs InCopy just fine, giving these messages to the Console:
    1/21/11 3:34:24 PM [0x0-0xaa5aa5].com.adobe.InCopy[43770] Error in XmlRpcClient::writeRequest: write error (error 32).

I can watch the Console on the machine where IC hangs, it gives all of those expected Console messages, until I go to open the file, and there are no messages after that.
Anybody have any clue as to what I've broken? We have InCopy alone or InCopy as part of the whole CS4 in multiple machines, and everyone else's works just fine.

Nah, plenty of disk space, and was able to install and run photoshop later without incident.

Sales Opportunity has been put in Stage number 2 directly. In other words there is only one open row in the stages tab which happens to be the 2nd stage out of 7 stages.
Also, ran SELECT * FROM OCLG WHERE OPRID='60' - this query gives no result rows.

  • InCopy CS4 compatible with TRADOS?

Hi, I was wondering if anybody could tell me if Adobe Incopy CS4 is compatible with the translating tool TRADOS?
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Hi
Some days ago I found this thread, because I was also looking for a similar solution.
One of my clients sent me an .ICAP file, which can be open with InCopy (or 7-ZIP, although this is not the right procedure).
.ICAP is also a kind of ZIP extension, generated by InCopy and contains all the files and information of a PAKET (I think this is the German word)...
So, if you ever receive an .ICAP file from your clients to be translated (in this case with TRADOS), just do following:
0 - If you don't have InCopy, you just need to download a trial version and to install it.
1 - Open the .ICAP file
FILE => OPEN  (DATEI => ÖFFNEN)
2 - This will create a folder "InCopy-Tasks", say like this:
    C://Users/Tradutempo/Documents/InCopy-Aufgaben
Inside of this folder you'll find a new folder "content", containing ".icml" files.
Those ".icml" files can be imported (just import the complete folder CONTENT) and translated by TRADOS Studio 2011 (the version that I am using at the moment).
3 - After translating the files (please don't change the name of the files), you'll just need to create the final version and, if the client want to receive again an ".icap"-file,
4 - Go to DATEI (FILE) => PAKET => FÜR INCOPY WEITERLEITEN (where you'll be able to save all the project as ".icap"
    That's it!

  • Missing font makes Adobe InDesign CS4 6.0.4 crash

    Hi!
I am having a problem with the latest version of Adobe InDesign CS4 (v 6.0.4).
I opened an old document which contained two missing fonts.
I was able to correct the first one by changing it to an existing font.
But when I tried to correct the second one, the application crashed.
    I did this:
    1. Opened the document with the missing font (the first font was now already corrected).
    2. In the warning dialog window saying a font was missing, I clicked "Find Font".
    3. The missing font was called "Helvetica (T1) Bold Narrow". I set it to be replaced by "Helvetica Regular".
    4. Then I clicked "Change All".
    5. Indesign CS4 crashes.
This is the information about the missing font (note that it says "First Used: na" which is strange):
    Filename: <not installed>
    Full Name: Helvetica
    First Used: NA
    Font: Helvetica (T1) Bold Narrow
    PostScript Name: Helvetica-Narrow-Bold
    Style: Bold Narrow
    Type: Type 1
    Version:
    Restrictions: Unkonwn (Font is missing)
    Path: Unknown (Font is missing)
    Character Count: 27
    Style Count: 0
    Styles:
    Page: none
Does anyone have a solution, or is this a bug?
    Thanks

    Hi! Thanks for your answer.
I am using Windows XP (SP3).
I tried to export my INDD file (ID CS4 format) to an INX file.
But that also made InDesign crash (perhaps because of the font thing).
Unfortunately I can't change the missing font of the text because:
    * I can't see the text frame that contains the missing font.
    * InDesign crashes when using the "Find Font" function.
However, this is not a big problem, I can still work with the file. But I will
always get the annoying warning about the missing font, and I prefer to
have no errors in my INDD files.

  • Missing fonts in InDesign CS4 - even when 'open' in Suitcase Fusion 3

Hi all, I'm running InDesign CS4 on a Intel Mac Pro (tower), about 4 years old, running OSX Snow Leopard (all updates applied).
Using Suitcase Fusion V3 for font management.
I have a document that previously had no font issues at all.  Now when I open it InDesign throws up a 'Missing font' error.
I have the correct fonts installed and 'open' in Suitcase Fusion.
The font is available in Simpletext and Pages, but not InDesign and Illustrator.
The troublesome font was OK the other day and has been since it was installed.
I've not changed anything that I'm aware of... but now InDesign won't 'see' the font.
In the 'Find Font' dialogue box the 'Path' says it's 'Unkown or missing'.
InDesign can see the other weights in the font family (bold, italic etc) but not regular.  And yet the entire font family is in the same folder on my hard drive.
I've tried deleting all the' Adobe.lst' files.  No Joy.
I've run Font Doctor on the whole font family, its says it's OK.
    I've tried re-installing the font from a back-up.  Nada.
If anyone has any suggestions..... feel free to let rip!
As ever, I await your expertise and unstinting knowledge in these matters   And, needless to say, I'll be mighty appreciative for it!
    RP

Hi Bob, strangely... I've put the troublesome font, Dax (T1) Regular, in the Applications/Adobe InDesign CS4/Fonts folder and it seems to be working.
Never had to do that before.
Would be great to get back to 'normal'.  If possible.
Although I have many duplicates spread across back-up drives and collected artwork folders, I've also tried to eliminate any duplicate 'open' versions.  But the above solution is the only one that works at the moment.
    RP
p.s. I also tried removing any AdobeFNT**.lst files, (where ** is a number) before the above work around.  That didn't work either.

  • Missing fonts in cs4

    Hello All,
I have installed CS4 on my XP desktop after uninstalling CS2 completely and I am now having some font missings from the applictation.
Although the font name like "Arial Black" already exist on the PC but its not finding it. When I open an existing Indesign CS2 file( I am getting an error message saying few fonts are missing and then a find a font box coming up with missing font names marked with yellow !.
I dont know how to add these fonts back into the CS4.
Someone advised me to delete all "adobefnt*.LST" files but this did not work either for me.
Please can you advise how to do this?
    Thanks
    S

Fonts are never unloaded when installing software. In the case of Arial Black, go to Arial, and see if Black has been added to the Arial family (where you see Bold, Italic, etc.). As well, Adobe software will sometimes sort files differently than other applications, so look carefully though the list to see if the ones you are missing are sorted somewhere else.
Fonts are often loaded with software, and probably this has happened with CS4 (I am on CS3). You might have gotten new versions of some of your old fonts. This could cause the problems you are seeing in ID. I think you can just tell the files to update to the new versions, if this is the case.

  • Missing Fonts in Photoshop CS4

I opened an existing CS2 photoshop file in CS4 and I get a missing font error. The font that it can't find is on my system.
How do I "add" this font so PS can see it?
    Thanks.

Yeah, I hear ya. But this seems to be a big complaint with 64 bit systems. And since all fonts show up and work fine in all other programs... seems like another adobe bug to me.
If you want to be a bit specific, Arial has 10 types. Only two show up. Regular and bold. And I'm not alone with this problem.
This was a bug (from what I read) in office 2007. But I never used 2007. However it wasn't a problem in office 2003 nor is it with my current version of 2010. As I said, no problems whatsoever with anything except... photoshop cs4 64. (works fine in 32 bit vista)
Now, FWIW, I haven't played much with font directories in the past, but it seems win7 is putting them into their own... kind of "folder". (could be wrong)
That is, in arials case, for instance, they aren't spread out. As... arial normal, black, bold, etc. They seem to be all lumped in to one. Click on it and they all open for display and are all there but I don't remember them that way in older windows progs.
But as I said, everything is fine in notepad, wordpad, excel, word, etc. etc. etc. A corrupt font is one thing, but I can't see a corrupt font working in everything but one program. And they DO work in dreamweaver.
Ok... update. As I said, tried putting them (the arials) in the adobe font directory (which I said was empty). Nothing. Tried again and it duplicated them. Still nothing. Went in and dumped the duplicates... seems to be working.
So, problem kinda solved. Just no clue why.
I need a drink and a few excedrins.
