  • Error message Adobe InDesign has stopped working as soon as I open the application

I had a computer crash on Friday and I just reinstalled InDesign this weekend and it has worked fine. This afternoon I started to receive an error message that Adobe InDesign has stopped working and Windows will close the program and notify me if a solution is available. I've rebooted and closed every other program. I have also been downloading my lost files from Carbonite since yesterday and have paused the download. Do I need to uninstall the program and reinstall?

Use System Restore to go back before the crash.

  • InDesign crashes during export of images

    Hello,
I am writing an ActionScript Extension for InDesign (SDK: Extension Builder 3.4), that exports each pageItem on a page as an image. After the export a hash value is calculated for each image and the bunch of images are beeing uploaded.
But in most of cases InDesign crashes during the image export without an error of the script.
Here is the bug report: http://pastebin.com/MHFhYrJH
For the export I am using these two methods
    pageItem.exportFile(ExportFormat.PNG_FORMAT, file);
    pageItem.exportFile(ExportFormat.jpg, file);
The calculation of the hash is done after each image export with the method
    com.adobe.crypto.MD5.hashBinary(file.byteArray);
One important thing to mention is that I am running the extension with the "Attach As" command in Flas Builder 4.6. If I build the extension with the "Run As" command or export the extension for the Adobe Extension Manager with the "Export..." dialog the extension is much more stable but InDesign still crashes randomly.
Do you have any idea how to solve these sudden crashes.
The problem occurs in InDesign CS6 as well as in InDesign CC.
    Thank you for every hint!
    Best,
    stepo

    Hi
It may not be relevant, but you have not set a path for the PDF.  Put ~/ before the doc name for the PDF to be created in the top level of your home folder.  Otherwise the PDF will be put inside the actual InDesign app (Right click app, show Package Contents - contents - MacOS)
This is the case with CS3 anyway.  Not checked on CS4.
    Cheers
    Roy

  • Will Adobe indesign cs6 books work with the adobe indesign creative cloud version?

Will Adobe indesign cs6 books work with the adobe indesign creative cloud version?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think, this question is a very good one.
If I have a *.indb document created in CS6, populated with InDesign documents from CS6, what to do, if I want to migrate my workflow to the latest version of InDesign CC-2014?
Short answer (avoiding trouble and headaches):
    1. Convert all your InDesign documents from CS6 to CC-2014 (*)
    2. Use NEW document file names for all your CC-2014 InDesign file types: *indd, *indt, *indl
    3. Build your *indb documents for CC-2014 anew.
    4. Use NEW document file names for CC-2014 InDesign file type: *indb
But isn't that a tedious task to do?
Yes. But fortunately there are some scripts around helping you with the conversion process.
    See Peter Kahrel's website. Especially:
Free script Batch convert/export InDesign documents | Peter Kahrel
    There are others as well…
    Uwe
*Before migration of the workflow batch export all InDesign CS6 documents to IDML and PDF.

  • Adobe premiere cc crashes during work on mac

I have iMac with system up to date, my Adoebe Premiere CC crashes every 10 minutes when working on the project. Any ideas?

Usually, it's this: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later). It's caused by some methods of updating OS X.
BTW, most people are operating 8.1 with no issues, myself included.
A majority of the issues people are having are updating complex project files from 8.0.1 to 8.1. Please don't update project files or your OS when in the middle of a project. This rule of thumb is very important to safeguarding your project file.
If you must go back to the previous version, please check out my blog post here: Install a previous version of any Creative Cloud application

  • Adobe InDesign crashes frequently (Win8.1pro, CS6 Design Standard)

I am experiencing an issue with Adobe InDesign. It crashes frequently, 3 or 4 times over an 8 hour work day. There doesn't seem to be a pattern in the crashes, it isn't when I'm doing anything specific, it just happens seemingly randomly.

I have read about this issue and have tried clearing user preferences, disabling live preflight, running adobe updates, and I have done a complete uninstall, run the CC cleaner tool, and reinstalled CS6 Design Standard. The issue still persists.
Some more insight or suggestions for a solution would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Try updating to the latest version of IDCS6 which should be 8.0.2.

  • Adobe InDesign crashes when trying to print

I use Adobe CS4 regularly.  I could print fine from all apps in CS4 until yesterday when I tried to print from InDesign CS4 and the app crashed.  All other apps in CS4 print fine, as do all other apps.  I've attempted to create a new print preset and also tried to edit the printer default, but InDesign crashes every time.  Has this happened to anyone else?
The only things I've done differently (or new) was to test a new antivirus app (Anti-Virus Software for Mac Protection | Kaspersky Lab United States) and also to download and try out the new Firefox 11.  I also created a couple of pdf files in InDesign (as I've done dozens of times with no problems).
The printer is an Epson all-in-one WorkForce 630, and I have confirmed that I'm using the latest drivers.  I've done restarts and shutdowns.  Nothing seems to help, and only InDesign CS4 seems to be affected.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated...and thanks in advance for your input.

Forgot to mention that I can still create pdf files using the CS4 presets, and can also continue to work on files and save them but the only way to print is by creating a pdf file and printing that.

  • Adobe InDesign CS4 Stops Working - Windows 7 Ultimate

I have a new computer with 8g of Ram running Windows 7 Ultimate, with an Intel i7 860 2.8 and everything has been working fine until an hour ago and now everytime I open InDesign and start working on a file, I get the error message that Windows has to close InDesign that it is not working properly.
I went ahead and made sure I had the latest updates, I removed the Preference file, rebooted and I am still having this same problem.
I also get a message when I start InDesign and Illustrator that I have to restart FMCore.exe has been stopped. Please start it form the Windows Control Panel for Universal Type Client and then relaunch Adobe InDesign CS4. I click OK and InDesign opens. I cannot find anywhere to start the FMCore.exe. I think it applies to a Mac computer.
Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I may trying reinstalling InDesign CS4 but I am not sure if I should do so.
    All the best,
    Aleda Downs

    Hi Peter:
I think the crash may be related to this file. When I opened another file and moved around InDesign acted fine. It appears that is crashes with this one file that I have been working on all day.
Any suggestions before I do a system restore, as to how to repair a file? The file keeps opening, but when I try to access a menu item or navigate to a different page, that is when I get the error. On the other file, I did everything and not a problem. I think it might be this file.
    Any thoughts?
    All the best,
    Aleda

  • InDesign crashing when working on a document

    Hi all,
I am using CS6 and Windows 7. I have used Photoshop for a while with no problem but am just starting to use InDesign and it keeps crashing. I can insert images and text and save a document but crashes occur when working on a document -  most often when using the selection tool =
I get these two messages during startup so are these relevant to the crashing or any other ideas please?

@  Michael Witherell thanks for your reply. My InDesign is up to date in Help / Updates (if that is what you mean by the patch) and yes I have reset the preferences but the problem is the same - touching the select tool is enough to cause a crash. While  searching on InDesign crashing I saw a suggestion to create a new user in Windows. I don't want to speak too soon but this seems to fix the problem - with my regular Windows user (in which I do everything inlcluding CS6 Photoshop) and with no other programs running, using the select tool (for example) immediately causes InDesign to crash but with the new user it seems so far that I can use the select tool - move stuff around - with no crashing so far. Does that give any clue to what the problem is?
    Thanks...

  • InDesign crashes during adding of pages

    Hi,
I´ve got following problem. We design our annual school report in InDesign. In order to keep the required work at a minimum level, we use the document of the previous year, convert it into the currently used InDesign-version and replace the content where necessary. The general layout stays more or less the same.
This year we changed to InDesign CS5 and opened the CS4-document of last year´s report. It was flagged as converted document, so we saved it as CS5-document and the flag disappeared. Till here everything went quite as expected.
Naturally this year´s report differs from the one created 2010 in the matter of needed pages. But every time you try to add pages (no matter how you try to add them) InDesign crashes. So I made another attempt with a new document: everything fine there. Of course we could start completely anew, but that would be a serious lot of work and therefore the very last possibility.
I tried to get the document (or rather InDesign?) working on two Windows 7 x64-systems (one laptop and one desktop), but it worked on neither of them.
Has anybody an idea how to fix this (apart from beginning with a new doument)? Or if the only possibility is starting anew is there any trick or function to take parts of the "old" document to the new one (to save time)?
    Thx for your help!!!

This workflow is GUARANTEED to eventually end in disaster, and your day has finally come. At least you can still open the old version. "Recycling" old documents over and over by doing a Save As to a new name and deleting the old stuff leads to cumulative samll corruptions, and eventually the file fails under the weight of too many problems. ID is better than Quark, or especially Pagemaker in theis regard, but it still ends badly eventually.
What you want to do is make a new file. Open the old one and copy the stuff from it that stays the same from year to year and paste it into the new file. Save the new file as a TEMPLATE. Add any styles or swatches you need, and test to make sure you didn't bring in any fatal errors when you pasted from the other doc. Exporting to .idml, opeing that, and saving that version may be even better. For all new versions of the report, open the template, which will give you a fresh untitled copy of the template with everything you need and nothing to delete, and you'll be starting as clean as possible each year.

  • InDesign Crashing During Program Start

I am having major issues with Adobe InDesign on 1 machine at a client's site. As of mid yeterday morning, InDesign will no longer load, crashing before even getting the loading splash screen with an issue with CoolType.dll.
Faulting application name: InDesign.exe, version: 6.0.6.622, time stamp: 0x4caa28e2Faulting module name: CoolType.dll, version: 5.6.5.1744, time stamp: 0x48b60829Exception code: 0xc0000005Fault offset: 0x000a302aFaulting process id: 0xc6cFaulting application start time: 0x01cc7d77c667ecf1Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\InDesign.exeFaulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\CoolType.dllReport Id: 0552dc07-e96b-11e0-879e-f46d04257f70
As what i can find online about the issue (although pretty much being only related to CS3) relates to fonts, i have uninstalled what they said they installed yesterday, but InDesign still isnt loading. Nothing else has supposedly changed.
Can anyone please help me sort out this issue ASAP.

Sorry if my last comment didnt make sense. I will explain more. If i go to the Windows Fonts folder, it shows it in the Windows Font Manager style. With this view, I have found that on this machine, fonts are sometimes showing twice. Below is a graphic showing what I mean, there are 4 identical fonts, showing in properties to reference 5 different files, but listed as 8 fonts. (the first one listed is a different file to the one with a duplicate name, but the others seem to reference the same file.)
When copying all fonts via the font manager, it copied them like this:
While I cannot see why these Swiss 721 fonts should show duplicates, as they dont follow what i am about to say, other fonts that are duplicated show in the fonts folder when viewed over a network with _0 at the end of their file name:
I also seem to have found an encrypted font, although that shouldnt be causing the issues, as it seems to belong to the main user of the machine, but it may.
I hope this clarifies things better for you. I am going through and removing all of these duplicates.

  • Adobe InDesign CS6 stopped working

Up until late last year I was able to export to EPUB format without problems. Later on, when attempting to export to EPUB, I began receiving the error "Adobe InDesign CS6 has stopped working".  Even after reinstalling InDesign, the error persists.  Any suggestions?

    Sir,
I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. I also removed preferences and all other methods that are on the adobe websites. The only way I was able to access it was to add another user to my laptop and install using administration permissions. But I cannot access it from the original side which is the problem.

    Thanks,

Problem solved, it is the firewall who blocked the installation, everything works fine now!
