I've checked my other CC progams and there is no problem with them.

This is weird. I re-built my PC a couple of weeks ago and re-installed all the Adobe CC products that I use. Before that, I always found the InDesign defaults file with no trouble. However, now it is nowhere to be found. The path you give in Replace your Preferences doesn't exist. There isn't even an 'appdata' folder. I have searched the whole of the drive and found neither appdata nor InDesign defaults. I have launched Id many times since the re-build, but the path has not been created. Could appdata be hidden? If so, how do I reveal it? All help appreciated.

  • Adobe InDesign CC2014 has stopped working

I subscribed 2 days ago to Adobe CC but am unable to work on InDesign without getting this response....
"Adobe InDesign CC2014 has stopped working... A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Close program"
Where is Adobe on this issue—any explanation?

If you are able to open ID and do other work, the problem has nothing to do with permissions, so you may safely ignore all of that stuff.
This sounds like some sort of corruption in the style or specific text, ot perhaps a corrupt font (but that would probably cause a crash in ID at launch or whenever the font is used). Start with the technique out lined here: Remove minor corruption by exporting
If that does not work, see if you are able to export the problem story to InDesign Tagged Text (click the cursor anywhere in the story, but don't make a selection, then choose export from the file menu and tagged text from the type dropdown). Place the tagged text into a new frame, then use copy/paste to replace the original text.

  • Adobe InDesign CS6 Has stopped working error message

    Hi,
I have Adobe InDesign CS6 on Windows 7 64 bits Enterprise Edition
When I open a document and try to export the document to pdf my indesign crash whith following message "Adobe inDesign CS6 has stopped working"
It happens on some docuemnts but now all documents.
    Please help.

Was that a typo and you meant NOT all documents?
Windows isn't quite as easy to diagnose crashes as Mac becuase it doen't providet he same crash reports, so we pretty much have to play Twenty Questions...
Let's start with some basic troubleshooting. Presuming this is isolated to just some files, start with this: Remove minor corruption by exporting
If that doesn't work, can you export half of the doc at a time?
Create a new user account onthe machine and log in using that. Are you able to export the document to PDF without a crash?

  • Adobe InDesign CC has stopped working

When trying to open InDesign CC (Trial), get error message "
Adobe InDesign CC has stopped working."
    and
It caused other problems in computer.  Proessional technician who cleaned up computer uninstalled inDesign - saying it appeared to be corrupt - and that I should redownload it and reinstall.
I did that, but the same messages still appear.
    Any suggestions?

  • Error: Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working (Windows 7)

Photoshop started throwing this error message yesterday out of the blue, I've no idea what, if anything, on my computer has changed to cause it to happen - it's been working uninterrupted for over a year.
I've tried a few things mentioned in other posts and on other forums (removing possible problem fonts, renaming plugins) but my problem seems to be slightly different - Photoshop crashes as soon as it's finished loading, not when opening a file or an image, so I can't get into any menus to disable OpenGL, filters, or change any settings.
That also means that I can't deactivate Photoshop, and I can't uninstall it because Adobe Application Manager throws the same error. Illustrator CS5 now also throws the same error when I start it.

I'm hoping to stop short of having to reinstall windows, that's looking like the only solution at the moment. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Adobe InDesign CS5 Has Stopped Working (installation issue)

Please allow me to preface this by saying that this situation is RESOLVED, but I wish to share what happened to me with others for information purposes as I couldn't find anything regarding this issue online last night (mind, I was quite exhausted so might have missed it).
    The situation:
I have CS5 Master Collection Upgrade.  I performed the installation.  All apps working just fine EXCEPT Adobe InDesign (see error in title).
Beating of head against the wall continues for five hours as I uninstall, use cleaner, defrag, reinstall (you know the routine) SEVERAL times (why I thought doing it just once more might make a difference is beyond me).  I knew this install should work because I was using the entire CS5 suite only a few days ago until my system suffered a serious failure and require reformatting, reinstalling etc.
So... after a couple of hours on the phone with Adobe tech support (an almost first for me in about 15 years or so of using Adobe products), it was discovered that InDesign's plugin directory was corrupt (rather, one or more files were laid down corrupt).  Uninstalling and using the cleaner DOES NOT remove the temp/backup files.  I knew something was up when I reinstalled the upgrade and it did not ask for my CS4 code (even after using a M$ reg cleaner), and this confirms it.
Also I noticed that InDesign is being laid down during the transition from Disc 1 to Disc 2.  A colleague of mine had an odd issue with his PC not accepting Disc 2 at first (a few weeks ago).  I can only conclude that for some people, and some installations (because my first installation was flawless), InDesign will lay down its plugins corrupt.
As I said, this is resolved now (I copied over the plugin directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS5\Plug-Ins) from my colleague's PC where InDesign was working fine), but I wanted to share in case this spares someone else the pain and suffering I just experienced.
The irony, of course, is I'm under deadline and of all the programs right now, I needed InDesign the most!  LOL.
    Cheers, everyone.
    Alex

I am operating in Windows Vista.  The last time I used the program it was responding normal and it closed out normally.
I haven't added any fonts and have cleaned out my recovery folder and it is still doing it.
My machine froze yesterday morning and I had to do a hard reboot, but I was not working in ID at the time and it wasn't open.  Everything else is working normally.  Even though I knew it wouldn't work, I did uninstall and reinstall the program and of course that didn't solve anything.
Any other advice is appreciated.  I am at a loss.

  • Adobe InDesign CS6 has stopped working

Activated Creative Cloud membership a few days ago. Installed Indesign first and it worked fine. Installed all the rest of the applications and now InDesign no longer works. It starts up and goes through all of the initialization and then right after the opening dialog box where you select a file is displayed it crashes. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Same problem. Deleted all the preferences files. No change.
Interestingly, I tried running as administrator and it works just fine so it seems to be some sort of permission issue somewhere. Are there any logfiles that would log a permission issue? If so, which one(s)?
Also, InDesign CS4 works just fine on the same machine. All the other CS6 apps also work. It's only InDesign.  InDesign is the main application I use so I'd really like to get it working properly. For now, I'm OK to run as administrator, though.

I downloaded Process Monitor from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645 and captured all the output. Below are all of the ACCESS DENIED entries. I don't know how to change access to registry keys. However, interestingly, if I change the access to the files to give "Everyone" full access, they revert back to the prior access after I try to startup InDesign again. When I run as Administrator then I don't get these errors.

  • Error message:  Adobe InDesign CS5 has stopped working

    Hi,
I am having a strange problem.  When I open an InDesign file, I get the error message above.  Then windows is looking for a solution.  I close the window and reopen the file and it opens right up.  This problem does not occur if I open InDesign first then open the file.  Only when I try to open the file and InDesign starts to run.  I am running Windows 7 64bit.  Any ideas out there?

After an uninstall of InDesign and the antivirus software, no solution to the problem.  I went into the startup menu and started doing selected start ups.  I was able to narrow down the conflict to the "windows management instrumentation" program.  When this is not running, I get the message that my ID has reached its activation limit and I need a new number or it needs to be deauthorized on at least one computer.  There are a couple of other programs that need WMI to run as well.  I did go in and delete the preferences since nothing I had was hard to recreate.  Can the other files in the cache be deleted as well?  Will ID look for them and recreate them such as the one in the recovery folder?  Anyway, I had one document that I have been working on be rescaled-very strange.  Everything else was unchanged.  One other thing, when I would get the error message, I would close and then reopen the document without any problem.  However, when I closed it again, even if all i did was view it without changing anything, I would get the prompt if I wanted to save the changes.
So does that help at all in narrowing down the problem?  I have reinstalled the antivirus, and it did not affect anything.  As long as I don't run WMI, I don't get the error message.
    thanks,
    Clark

  • Scanning problem - "Adobe Acrobat 9 has stopped working", Windows 7 OS

    Hi all,
First post in the forum - Adobe has always come through for me before but I'm having problems that I can't solve by myself this time. When I try to scan documents into Adobe Acrobat 9 the scan completes (all the documents are drawn through) but when it attempts to progress to ask me whether there are any documents left to scan it crashes. There's no specific error message; Adobe just shuts itself down.
I'm using Windows 7 and an IR2800 Canon printer-scanner combo to scan the documents. I downloaded the latest driver for the scanner earlier from Canon's website and am at a complete loss as to what the problem might be.
I would very much appreciate any help rendered.
    Regards,
    Chris

Sorry, I'm a doofus! Sorted it out, was a problem with the Network Scangear (I had an old version)

  • Adobe InDesign CS5 has stopped working . . .

I'm sorry if there is an answer out there that I didn't see, but I'm desperate.
My InDesign CS5 was working perfectly fine yesterday and now today within 5 seconds of launching the program it crashes and I get the message mentioned in the subject line.
Of course this is when I'm trying to finish my final project for school.  My other CS5 programs seem to be working fine.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you!

I am operating in Windows Vista.  The last time I used the program it was responding normal and it closed out normally.
I haven't added any fonts and have cleaned out my recovery folder and it is still doing it.

  • "Adobe Illustrator CC has stopped working" - Windows 7 64bit

I have been struggling with this for weeks.
After reinstalling multiple times, uninstalling Wacom drivers, etc. -- tracked it down to a plugin.
The newest update for AI CC is not compatible with the Silhouette Studio plugin.
Posting this in case it proves helpful to others.
Not a happy camper over lost time and productivity, but fortunately I had my CS5 disks.

Do you have a Silhouette cutter? If so, that is the problem. I've tried every troubleshooting & finally know now that is it. If you have Windows, go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins    (Computer, then program files, adobe, adobe illustrator CC, plug ins. Delete the plug in that says scp_cc7
    Then reopen adobe illustrator.

  • InDesign CS5 has stopped working

I have InDesign CS5 (creative suite premium, ME version) on Windows 7, everything was working well when InDesign stopped working. I can't open the program or any InDesign files. I get this error message:
"adobe InDesign CS5 has stopped working, a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
i have tried re-installing the program and it doesn't help.
does anyone know of a solution - i'm desparately working against a deadline.
    thanks

    No doubt.
I'm not sure what else to try, except do it again. Make sure before installing again that you are logged in as an administrator and that User Access Control is turned off. I'd also run the configuration utility and turn off any non-essential startup programs an services, especially anti-virus, anti-malware, browserhelpers and toolbars, messengers, iTunes, and third-party firewall.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working

I have Windows 7 I just installed Adobe photoshop CS5 Extended. It starts fine but when I start to open a picture I get the message
Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working windows will shut it down.
Any ideas of what the problem is.

Mylenium, why do you feel there is a need to run the first time as Administrator?  Do you know of install failures that would leave files or registry entries with improper permissions?  I've not been hearing of this behavior with the new versions; certainly Photoshop has known about Windows' UAC feature for quite a long time.
Rjleys, I suggest that you try (before opening an image) going into Edit - Preferences - Performance and disabling the [ ] Use OpenGL Drawing setting.   Close and restart Photoshop after making this change.
If this works around the problem, you should update your video drivers from the web site of the manufacturer of your video card.  It may be that the OpenGL operations Photoshop is trying to perform may be causing a fault in your drivers, resulting in an applilcation crash.
What kind of video card do you have?
Here are the links to the driver update pages for the two big video card makers:

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 has Stopped Working on Windows 7

Hey guys and girls. I recently got a new computer running Windows 7 64bit. I still have good ol photoshop cs4 and wanted to use it on this new computer. The install process was completed and as I started the program, I get the "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working" box. I've looked through some forums, and a lot of them mention the wacom tablet issue, which is not the issue since I've yet to install the drivers for my tablet. Has anyone come across this problem at all? This is what shows up when I get that error box.
    C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\WERCA9F.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
      C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\WERE1B8.tmp.appcompat.txt
      C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\WERE246.tmp.mdmp
    Please help, thanks in advance

The first thing that I would do is insure that you have the latest video driver installed (but do keep any older ones, just in case you must roll-back - newest is not always the best).
If that does not help, then open Even Viewer, and check for all warning, or error messages in System and Application tabs, for the time that PS crashed. If you find any with links, follow those links - be patient, as some might take a few moments to send data to MS, and then for MS to process it, to open the proper page for that link plus the data gathered. This ARTICLE goes into a bit more detail, and I do not think that it is too Adobe Premiere-centric.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
