Adobe InDesign CC (not 2014)

I need to download Adobe InDesign CC. Where can I get it?

I have a Mac Pro
Right, the 1,1 MacPro has an Intel chip and will run 10.7.5.
These are the specs for my old MacPro1,1 running 10.7.5—don't have any problems.
It's not surprising 10.6.8 is giving you problems—the CC requirement for Macs is 10.7+

How to fix file when it says, "Cannot open file " ". Adobe Indesign does not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file may be missing, or file may be open in another application." It worked one second, I saved and closed the file, then tried to reopen and now it won't work. I am using Adobe InDesign CS5. It is the only version on my comp. I have tried opening on another comp & copying the file – same error comes up. PLEASE HELP

First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).
    You can find it here:
    [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File
If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
    CS7 = CC v9
    CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1

"Cannot open the file "*****.INDD". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application."

When I have seen this message it is either when I try to open a document with an older version of Indesign E.g. an indesign 2014 document with Indesign CC.
The other time I have seen it is to open an Indesign CC document with Indesign 2014 which does not have Mindsuite - a plugin I use. Mindsuite, as yet, has not upgrade the plugin for Indesign 2014 therefore it recognises that a the document was created withe a plugin that the 2014 version does not have installed.
I believe your problem will be something like that.

I am running InDesign CS5.5 and trying to open an In Design File but getting an error message. " Cannot open the file "PDavidLCover.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file me be open in another application."Please help I really need to get this file open.

Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X  or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.

  • Adobe Indesign CS6 not finding fonts

    Dear Support,
Adobe Indesign is not detecting the font arial narrow bold, narrow italic, please can you inform what to do.
I have reinstalled the font in the windows\fonts folder restarted and still experience issues.
I have reinstalled adobe indesign cs6 and still no luck.
    Please get back to me.
    Kindest Regards.

    Hi Jan Lotz,
You should keep the font arial narrow bold, narrow italic in the same folder where you keep your indesign file. Then open the indesign file hope it will work.
    Good luck!
Not true. At the very same place as the InDesign document is saved should be a folder with the name "Document fonts" and in this folder you have to put all fonts.
You should also take care if the font family include a font with these styles and is compatible to your OS. Best practice is to use OTF fonts.

How do I resolve the issue Cannot open the file ".indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing , or the file may be open in another application?

Shouldn't the CC version be able to open any file created in an older version on InDesign?
    Yes, it ought to.
If the older file wasn't yours (if someone emailed it to you,or burned it on a disc, or whatever), then I am almost willing to bet you a beverage in the city of your choice that it's not a complete InDesign file. That is, maybe it was zipped and renamed, or the beginning or end of the file was chopped off during download, or something like that. The only reason I'm not actually making the bet is that there is a remote chance that I'd lose, and maybe you're in Adelaide or Khabarovsk or somewhere where the cost of airfare to me would make that bet a very expensive bet for me to to lose. So no latte for you if I'm wrong!
The script that Jongware posted will tell you what version of InDesign made the file to begin with. Additionally, if someone did something like rename YourFile.PDF to YourFIle.INDD, it'll report that it's Not An InDesign File. Because while SpectrumPCS is kinda right and that message can be generated when attempting to open a CS5 file in CS3 or whatever, it also spits out the same message when you just try to open an Autocad file, or a Windows system file, or a PDF, or any file that InDesign actually cannot open at all.

  • Adobe Indesign could not complete the conversion

    Hi!
I updated from CS6 to CC this fall, and today I'm trying to open several documents created in CS6 but with no luck Get this error meassage: "Adobe indesign could not complete the conversion because the data in the file did not match what was expected"
Do I have to install CS6 again to manage to open the file? Or what do I do? Hopefully the file isn't completely destroyed....
    Hoping to get some help

Peter Kahrel has a batch conversion script at Free script Batch convert/export InDesign documents | Peter Kahrel that you can run to do the export on entire folders of documents at once. Run it in the old version.
But in my opinion, since you can have CS6 installed at the same time, there's really no reason to convert most of your files unless they are projects that are ongoing and get edited time after time, and even then probably not. Re-use of docs by doing a Save As to a new version for things like magazines is likely to eventually lead to document failure due to creeping minor corruption that at some point accumulates to the point of not being minor. We see a lot of reports of recycled files that suddenly don't work after 30 or 40 (or some other number) of generations. There is no excuse for not making templates for this sort of job and using the template to start each iteration.

  • InDesign CC | Error with indd file - "Cannot open the file...Adobe InDesign may not support file format"

I encountered a very strange error with InDesign CC after saving a file created in CS4. I'd attach the file but I'm not sure how to do this, if I'm able to. The file is 44kb and doesn't seem like it should be (file I saved had a large book cover). Now since the original CS4 file was overwritten using InDesign CC, the file is corrupt and I'm getting the error message displayed below. The file is not open within another application. Has anyone gotten this before?

Thanks for your response Peter. Below is the gibber contained in the first four lines. In the first line, where it reads "mimetypeapplication" and then "indesign-idml-package", I would assume that this should've been a valid idml file.

  • Adobe InDesign is not compatible with my Laptop?!

I just have bought the Adobe InDesign CC Version for one month. Now I realized that this version is not compatible with my laptop, which has Windows Vista as system software. Now I have two questions. The first one is: How can I cancel the contract with Adobe and get my money back. The second: Where do I get a compatible Version of InDesign for my laptop? Thanks

    System requirements | InDesign
InDesign CS5.5 was the last version compatible with Vista - but Adobe no longer sells that version.
Have you considered upgrading your computer to Windows 7?
    Or getting a new computer?

  • Adobe InDesign CS3 not running?

i get a crash report as soon as i try to run Adobe InDesign CS3 any help on it? i as something that they are working on it? how soon can i see this happening is there any thing I can do to fix it? i need this for school by monday to get this big project done. pleas help.

I see you posted two topics with the same problem. Not smart. But here is my answer from the other topic in this one as well. I hope it helps you out.
InDesign CS3 worked fine for me, for a week. Now it crashes on launch too. On rare occasions where it doesn't crash on launch it will crash opening any file.
Adobe recommends people do a clean install of Leopard instead of an upgrade to prevent this. This is what I read on their website. I did a clean install, and yet InDesign crashes. So no luck with that tip. I managed to get it working this morning.
    * I deleted all application font caches using (free) FontExplorer (Linotype)
    * I deleted all applications with the official installer (it has that option)
    * I switched off as many fonts as possible to eliminate corrupt font issues
    * I re-installed InDesign, ran Adobe Updater and rebooted my system
    After that. It ran.
No explanation for why it started crashing before. Maybe this works for you. It wil take some time though so make yourself some coffee or something :-S
    Adobe should look into this.
    About fonts not working:
Leopard is very strict with fonts I noticed. Some of my (legally purchased and non corrupt) fonts that worked in Tiger no longer work or work incorrectly in Leopard (noticably when using old style figures in fonts that have no regular figures).
    Not good.

  • Adobe InDesign Server CC 2014 compatible with Windows 2012 Server R2.

The systemrequirements are maybe not up to date.
There i can not see the R2 version supported.
    Are all newer releases supported?
    Thx

So has Adobe Officially Released Server CC 2014?

  • Adobe Indesign does not recognize FONTEXPLORER X for indesign cc.pln as a valid plug-in.

I got this error after installing Indesign CC 64bit  and font exploer x on Windows 8. After unistalling both apps a couple times then re-installing i loaded some additional
fonts via font explorer then activated them and started a document and the fonts where available despite the message below.
Just wondering if anyone has seen this type of an error before? So i selected no to show the message again.
And everything seems to be working font finder in IDCC shows the fonts are there as well with no errors.
Just wanted to know if this is normal in this version of Indesign where plugins are concerned.
I have run every version of Indesign and CS and never seen this issue before.

I did install the previous font x version 2.3 and then updated it to 2.6 i think it is. Because the previous version did not have indesign 3.5.1 (CC).
After the install the plugin option was there for CC 3.5.1
I will contact font explorer in the morning to find out more.  This is a new laptop with fresh install of indesign CC and font manager.
    Thanks for the tip.
    Cheers

  • Adobe Indesign will not start-Runtime Error

    Hi,
I recently bought Creative Suites Design Premium CS5 and I am having a problem with indesign. The program will not launch. This message shows up The application has requested the Runtime to terimate in unusual way. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am using Windows XP-32 bit, and  service pack 3.
    Thanks for the help,

Uninstalling InDesign and then installing InDesign should fix the problem.

  • 'Adobe InDesign is not properly licensed'

    Hi there,
I'm having a little trouble getting started with my 30-day trial of InDesign CS5.5. When I click the program icon from the 'Start' menu, I get the following:
I then click to start my trial. InDesign loads, but then appears with this:
I have verified my email address and also my Adobe ID, but to no avail. Am I missing something?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Looks messed up. Did you previously have InDesign installed?
I would uninstall, run the Adobe Cleaner Tool, and then reinstall. But who knows...it's hard to debug trial problems, unfortunately.

  • .indd file does not open in Adobe InDesign 2014?

Why are files created in Adobe InDesign CC not compatible with Adobe InDesign 2014 and vice versa.  This is supper annoying - we pay a monthly fee and are completely legit.  So why are the 2 not compatible????

You cannot open CC2014 INDD files in CC. That has always been the case and you'd need to go through IDML for that. But CC2014 should open CC files with no problems.
Now, you'd like to share some real details we may be able to help, but saying it doesn't recognize those file is pretty much meaningless. What happens?
And if you uninstalled CC after installing CC2014 I would encourage you to reinstall CC2014. Uninstalling earlier versions has a tendency to break file associations.
