Adobe Indesign CC out of memory error/crash while scrolling

As I am moving about in my InDesign document (on a MAC), I get a error message saying I'm "OUT OF MEMORY" while I scroll w/ either the space bar on the keyboard and or document scroll bar. I just updated a new patch thru Adobe for InDesign and restarted my computer several times.
Please need some answers.
Thanks,
Moofia66

  • Indesign cs5 'out of memory' error when using preflight

    I have been regulary getting an 'out of memory' error when i choose to use my bespoke preflight profile.
    I have 4gig of ram and run Indesign CS5 on OS 10.6.8.
    Does anyone know a work around?
    As soon as I select from the basic default profile, i get the beach ball from hell for 10mins, then it kindly lets me know that I am out of memory, sends a crash report to Adobe and then asks if I want to relauch. I'm stuck in a vicious circle. I must of sent my 4th crash report now and no feedback from anyone at Adobe.

    I have replaced my preferences, but still the problem persists. I have tried switching my view from typical display to fast display before i selected a profile. I thought this may give me the extra memory I needed to avoid the enevitable crash. I learnt that 2 files were indeed rgb instead of cmyk before it crashed again. So I switched them to cmyk and tried again, selected my bespoke profile, but yet again it crashed. I think the problem lies with the file, not Indesign, as i have tried the same profile on a different file and the program doesn't crash and runs as it should. So if in future I need to use said crashing file again, firstly i will need to try Peter's isolate fix method. Otherwise i'll never be able to progress to successful a pdf.

  • InDesign CC Out of Memory Error message problem

    I am getting an Out of Memory Error message in InDesign CC and it is crashing. Very unusual and not a particularly lage file. Contains a few PDFs and crashes tend to be when scrolling- is it a screen redraw problem?

    Does it have an SSD or conventional hard drive? How much free space?
    For testing you should create and log into a new user account and see if the problem persists. That will narrow the possibilities to either user-related or document/application/system problems of some sort. Is this happening frequently? More than the one file? If it's just the one, try this: Remove minor corruption by exporting

  • Adobe CS6.0 out of memory error on iMac (early 2009)

    Hi:
    Adobe CS6.0 Photoshop is returning "Out of Memory (RAM)" errors and is unusable on a lab of iMacs.
    The system exceeds Adobe minimum specs (1GB ram).
    Our school has a lab of computers with both Adobe CS5.5 and Adobe CS6.0 Master Collection installed on a lab of iMacs (early 2009).
    The computers all have 4GB of memory and come with an NVidia GeForce 9400M 256MB video card.
    I notice that this video card shares ram with the main system.
    CS5.5 runs perfectly well but CS6.0 is not co-operating.
    We have updated Photoshop to version 13.04 and have run Apple's Software Update (latest version).
    I have looked online and this is a known problem with computers that have Adobe CS5 & 6 installed with Mac OS10.7.x but only on certain video cards.
    There are people out there with 32 GB ram having the same problem.
    I'm guessing the answer may be to update the video card drivers somehow.
    Your input is greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    ODrew

    Hi ODrew,
    I'm shocked you can operate OK with only 4GB of RAM, that certainly wasn't enough for my 2007 iMac to not continually slow down!?
    CS6 Sys requiremnts...
    Mac OS
    Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
    Mac OS X v10.6.8, v10.7, or v10.8**
    4GB of RAM (8GB recommended)
    4GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
    Additional disk space required for preview files and other working files (10GB recommended)
    1280x900 display
    7200 RPM hard drive (multiple fast disk drives, preferably RAID 0 configured, recommended)
    OpenGL 2.0–capable system
    DVD-ROM drive compatible with dual-layer DVDs (SuperDrive for burning DVDs; Blu-ray burner for creating Blu-ray Disc media)
    QuickTime 7.6.6 software required for QuickTime features
    Optional: Adobe-certified GPU card for GPU-accelerated performance
    And I don't see that Video card supported...

    I don't think you can upgrade that video card...

  • "Out of memory" error using SmartView v11.1.1.3.500, MS Excel 2007 & MS Win7 Prof SP1 (all 32-bit)

    Hi All,
    A user is regularly experiencing "Out of memory" error messages while retrieving large MS Excel 2007 worksheets (ad-hoc analysis; approx 700 rows by 13 columns) connected to a Planning cube via 32-bit SmartView v11.1.1.3.500 (Build 008) on a 32-bit MS Windows 7 Prof (SP1) computer with 4GB of RAM. The same user is reporting experiencing a number of other issues (eg, TCP-related time-out, unable to connect to the APS, SmartView add-in disappearing, etc) at the same time.
    I could not locate any specific KB document from the My Oracle Support website which addressed these specific issues all at once but from various posts out there, the recommendations to address similar issues were as follows:
    Tick the Options > Display > Reduce Excel file size option;
    Tick the Options > Display > Improve metadata storage option;
    Rebuild the MS Excel workbook from scratch;
    Delete all temp files located in the C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local\Temp directory;
    Disable auto-recovery for MS Excel;
    Add misc TCP-related registry entries (eg, TcpTimedWaitDelay, MaxUserPort, MaxFreeTcbs, etc) on both the client PC and server;
    Adjust MS Windows for best performance;
    Increase the page file by 25%-50% more than the physical amount of RAM installed on the client PC;
    Relocate the page file to a different drive as compared to the drive where MS Windows is installed on the client PC;
    On top of the above, are there any other recommendations anyone else would like to share to address the "Out of memory" issue?
    Many thanks in advance,
    JBM

    Monitor the Full GC in GC log and see if there is any gradual increase in the free memory retained after every Full GC over a period, if there is a gradual increase and if its reaching maximum specified heap over a period of time, that means there might be some slow leak from application or native libraries.
    Also please check if you have any pattern or request which might be triggering OOM all of the sudden.
    If its memory leak best way to investigate that is to capture JRA's at regular interval's and monitor top 10 objects and see which one is growing and consuming more % of heap over a period of time.
    You can also have this by captured by print_object_summary and print_memusage options in JRCMD command over a period of time.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is this really an out of memory error?

    I get the following output from running the pl/sql script below. I can't believe this is an actual out of memory error because the query involved returns only 51 rows. If I run the cursor query from the command line it takes about 5sec and returns 51 rows. The server this is running on is doing nothing else. We successfully run pl/sql scripts that use huge amounts of memory on this server and have never seen this error.
    Any idea what could be going on here?

        CLOSE date_components ;
    END find_invalid_dates ;\

    As it turns out this probably was a genuine out of memory error. While I was trying to figure out what was going on, I accidently ran the exact query from the pl/sql procedure.
         CURSOR date_components IS SELECT
         a.id,
         a.res_name ,
         a.yearcollected,
         a.monthcollected,

         a.endmonthcollected,
         a.enddaycollected
         FROM expandeddigircache a WHERE a.res_name=res_name           I was expecting 51 records, I got considerable more before the out of memory error occurred.
         I believe the query as written returns everything in the table. In this case 20mil+ records.
         The fundamental problem was that the parameter to the procedure was called res_name and the where clause tested a column called res_name. pl/sql did not consider them two different names. So I think the net result was a where clause of the form WHERE 'a'='a'
         When I changed the parameter name to p_res_name and the where clause to WHERE res_name=p_res_name the procedure worked as expected.

  • Out of memory error, while using Adobe InDesign

    I have been running Adobe inDesign for a couple of years with no problems. This is the first time I got a, "Out of memory" error when attempting to save the document as a PDF.
    Windows 7, Dell Studio XPS, 2.80 GHz Processor, Memory: 9 GB Dram, Hard Drive: 1.5 TB, 1.56 MB cache.
    Firefox v33.02
    What should I do to get back the memory?
    Thank you,
    Don Schaaf

    Hi Don, is this an Adobe site you are using in a Firefox tab, or the stand-alone InDesign application?
    If it's in the application, you may want to try Adobe's forum. You also could try closing other open applications to have them release memory and then try creating the PDF again.
    Please note that if Firefox has been running for a long time and is using a lot of memory, it may take several minutes to release it all, as various files are (slowly) updated at shutdown. You can monitor its progress in the Windows Task Manager on the Process tab. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Task Manager, and then click the processes tab. Firefox will be listed under firefox.exe here. Please allow it to shut down normally instead of using the End Process button, unless it appears to hang (no movement in the amount of memory used for several minutes).

  • Indesign cs5.5 out of memory error

    Hi,
    I am having constant problems with out of memory errors in indesign cs5.5 (version 7.5.3).  I am on a mac. Everything is up to date, I have preflight off, my display performance is on typical view and have tried restarted my computer multiple times.  I do not have any other programs open and the document I have open is 3 pages (8.5x11) with little content and a couple links to small images.  I do not know what to do!  This is affecting my job and my performance!! Please help!!!  Thank you!

    close the application
    Rename the preferences from the following location
    /Users/[User Name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version #
    /Users/[User Name]/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version [#]
    then open a new document and then open the document you are facing an issue with it should clear the memory issue temporally
    Alternate :
    copy and paste the content in a new document and check if the 1st option does not work
    PS : changing the folder name would reset the preferences
    refer to KB : InDesign preferences and support file locations

  • RoboHelp 9 gives an out of memory error and crashes when I try to import or link a Frame 10 file or

    I have Tech Suite 3. If I start a new RoboHelp project and try to import or link Frame files, RoboHelp tries for a while, then I get an Out of Memory error and the program crashes.
    I opened one of the sample projects and was able to link to one of my frame files without any problem, so it seems to be an issue with creating something new.
    Any suggestions?

    It happens when I create a new project and then try to import or link frame docs to make up the content. It starts scanning, then crashes. I did get it to the conversion setting page once, but no further.
    It does not happen if I open one of the supplied example projects and link a file. But then it doesn't let me choose, during import, any style mapping. And I can't delete the sample project fold
    Twice now it has told me when I tried to import (not link, but import) that my .fm file could not be opened, and told me to verify that Frame is installed (it is) and that the file is a valid frame file (it is).
    The docs and project are in separate folders on my C: drive.

  • Adobe X Pro 10.1.10 Out of Memory error message

    Hello One, Hello All
    Since updating our Adobe X Pro machines to version update 10.1.10, we occasionally receive an "Out of Memory" error message, which depending on what we are doing, may force us to shutdown all Adobe windows and re-open Adobe, or simply click OK and continue working with the PDF document like nothing is wrong. It seems to have no rhyme or reason to when or why it occurs. I do not see any warnings or errors in the Windows Event Log. It happens with files we have created, and also happens with files received from internal and external sources through email. It is affecting our high end machines: Lenovo X Series and W Series laptops with Windows 8.1 3rd/4th gen i5 CPUs, 8+GB RAM, 128+GB SSD's. We have all system and Windows updates applied. We have Trend Micro and Malwarebytes real-time protection and system scans do not find any malware.
    I have found a few other recent threads on Adobe forum related to this error message but the responses are weak at best with no definitive fix. The system and user temp folders size are less than 100MB each so this cannot be the issue. When the error occurs I check task manager and system utilization, including memory, is well below 100%.
    We did not have this issue prior to version update 10.1.10.
    Really hoping Adobe can step in to help here and hoping boilerplate responses are not used.

    Hi wayne103,
    We released a new security update yesterday that is v10.1.11
    Please update to this version and check the performance.
    I have seen this error message occur while opening a 3rd party created pdf that has corrupted file structure.
    Please let me know if the issue occurs for some specific files or random
    Also let me know the PDF producer for these pdfs.
    Regards,
    Rave

    Hi, just wondering if you had any success in retreiving or opening your Organizer?? Im having the same problem and i have tried everything, i even rang Adobe and they told me there were no technitions able to help because Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 was too old. If anyone has a solution please let me know, i have 5 years worth of photos in this software, i just want to be able to open the organizer to burn all my pics to CD then i will update my software. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
    First of all, your photos are not, "in this software" they are in folders on your hard drive, and PSE merely points to them. If >>you personally<< didn't delete them, or reformat your HDD, then they are still there. The default file path for your photos is this; "My Documents" > "My Photos" > "Adobe", and then a couple of different folders dependent on photo type, for example, "Scanned Photos".
    If you are using the default location, you can simply copy and paste you pictures to an external HDD, or burn them to CD or DVD with Windows. I am not recommending this, since if would not allow you to carry over information created by the organizer, and the photos would have to be reimported and retagged, by your files would be backed up and safe, the most important thing.
    There really isn't a need for all these histrionics, Even if you uninstall PSE, your photos will still be exactly where they were.  Even if you uninstall PSE, its catalog information will still be intact, and a later version will pick it up and "convert it" to its own file system.
    Support for PSE-3 has obviously ended, it's more than 5 years and 5 versions old. Just as a topic of conversation, my personal favorite version of PSE, is PSE-5.  IMO, it's the fasest importing, the most reliable, yet it has a lot more bells and whistles than PSE-3. If you can find a usable copy, I'd grab it, especially for a computer running XP.
    As to the out of memory issue there can be several issues that can affect this, for example; not enough RAM is allotted to PSE, this is independent of the amount of RAM actually installed in the computer. The scratch disc area is full or insufficient, the preferences file is corrupt.
    Everybody is complaining about not being helped in this thread, yet no one has posted back as to whether they have tried Barbara's suggestions, or even if they understand enough about Windows file system to be able to begin to help themselves.

  • InDesign Giving Me "Out of Memory" Error

    Hi all,
    I've been getting an "out of memory" error coming up on several projects I work on in InDesign. Most recently was a 189 page document, mostly text, some imported photos and PDFs. Usually I'd hit okay on the dialog box, but it pops up several times to the point where I can't do anything but quit and restart the program.
    I've been looking around and read that it's InDesign's own memory and has nothing to do with the computer that I'm using. If that's true, is this just what sometimes happens with larger files? It really messes with my work flow, so if there's anything I can do other than just sit back and let it tweak out, I'd prefer it.
    InDesign is CS5, computer is Windows 7.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Maybe I'm reading your response wrong, but you're saying a simple save as might alleviate this whole thing?
    Unfortunately I'm not getting the error right this very second, so I can't replicate it, but it's happened very recently and likely to happen again, so I'd like to know how to deal with it in the future.
    Thanks!
