Adobe InDesign CS2 - Why does the resolution change when I import a PDF file to InDesgin

When I import a PDF file to InDesgin the resolution from the PDF changes.
Any ideas?

InDesign uses a low resolution thumbnail (might be the wrong way to descirbe, but easiest to visualise) to represent images/files placed into indesign. As InDesign is a page layout program it enhances the speed of the application as it doesn't have to draw the images in full detail, but rather just represent them in their size and position in the layout.
There are 3 viewing settings, available through the View> Display Performance (for the whole document) or Object>Display performance (on an object by object basis).
The resolution of the image from that point on relies on whether it was Vector or Raster, or in PDF and EPS cases, vector and raster. As already mentioned Vectors and PDFs don't contain a resolution. Vectors are mathematical equations that require the device outputting the image to draw them to the best of their abiltiy.
PDFs are a wrapper for a file, it can wrap text, vectors and raster for output.
But all the same, InDesign uses lo-res thumbnails to represent the PDF/Image/Object until ready to output. But you need to adjust the Display Performance.

Why does the colours change when I import a video?

When I play my fresh footage in quicktime the colours look fine, as soon as I add the footage to final cut the colouring goes all odd. It has a Red tinge to it and the blues look as if they have turned to a sort of purple? They look like this in 'All Clips' and the previewer, yet when I look at the timeline the colours look ok.
I've also made 'All' is selected on the channels so it isn't that. Is there a way I can do a mass reset on Final cut to put it right? Does this on all videos I import and events I create!

I can't even see where that setting is.. for my information all the footage is from a GoPro so what I've had to do is convert them to .mov and Apple ProRes 422 now. Now when I have them in final cut the samples in 'All Clips' and in the time line look ok in till I hover over them and then they have the red hint again, they do how ever export the right colour now but this is going to make colour correction difficult

Could you please try converting any other PDF file with same fonts and then check.
It might also happen due to use of some poor fonts which result in garbled text.
Is the PDF scanned?

Hi. How can I stop iPhoto from automatically changing the layout when adding photos to make a calendar?

Hi. Latest version of everything. Picture calendar theme. Let's say I choose the layout that uses 6 photos. I begin to drag photos where I want. Sometimes the layout stays the same, but sometimes the layout of the photos changes positions, even after I have placed a specific photo into a specific place holder. If I place a photo into a specific place holder, I would like it to stay there and not change positions. I am not an iPhoto user - I use Aperture, but I cannot create calendars from within Aperture - so it seems to me there ought to be a tick-mark someplace that I need to uncheck so iPhoto stops rearranging photos as I place them into the layout. I hope this make sense. Thanks for taking the time with with. It is appreciated.

Why does the screen change when I type certain letters?

Something is wrong. When I am typing along, all of a sudden the screen changes and I am no longer on mail but back to the home page. I have checked the batteries in my wireless keyboard and track pad. They are ok. imac semms very hot. I have shut it down and restarted. Any ideas?

Why does the font change when I combine files?

I am trying to combine PDF files into one document using the "combine files" tool online.
The new file that is created changes some of the fonts to different fonts (I think it is having difficulty with times new roman in particular). I need to keep the original fonts when I combine the files, how can I stop it from changing the fonts?

Why does the color change when I open a warm image in Photoshop CS6?

Whenever I open a warm color image in Photoshop CS6, the color of the image automatically changes? Please see the attached screenshots below.
What is the solution to this problem? Please Help.

There is no "problem" to "fix". A raw file is just the data captured by the sensor, not yet an image. To produce a useful image it needs to be processed in a raw converter, either automatically in-camera or with a standalone converter (ACR).
The camera LCD shows you an in-camera processed jpeg, according to the camera manufacturer's idea of how the raw data should be interpreted. There is nothing inherently "correct" about this, and a lot of the original data have been thrown away in the process.
ACR doesn't make any assumptions about how the final image should look. It shows you a neutral starting point, with default settings to preserve as much of the original data as possible. The rest is up to you. You're not supposed to just accept the defaults. The sliders are there for a reason.
You can change the ACR defaults at any time if you come up with settings that are more to your taste.

Why does the format change when i share a presentation?

I develop a presentation in Keynote in my Imac. I then place it in a flash drive and pass the presentation to my MacBook. When I open it, all the fonts are changes, it has added bullets, the sizes have changes and many of the pictures are gone. I have the same fonts installed in both computers. How can I stop this?

Why does the orientation change when I convert pdf to a docx (Word) file?

I want my converted files to come back in the orientation that I uploaded them. How do I do that.

Which pdf are you trying to convert?
Try with another file.
You can use different browser.

Why does the font change when importing to my ipad as a pdf

I have a publisher document with black chancery font which was not on my current computer so I installed the font. It now appears in my document and when I save it as a pdf it seems to be there. BUT when I send it to my iPad the font is not what it should be.

You need to make sure the font is embedded in the PDF. This is optional in some sofware.
If it is not embedded, your local font is used. No such local font exists on the iPad.

One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way (remember to tick Paste remembers Layers in the Layer palette flyout/dropdown first, and to untick it afterwards).

I went on icloud.com and changed my name but it changes the credit card name to mine as well so I can't get apps unless its under his name, but it confuses everyone i share photo streams with, as there are two of my dads?

I have this problem and it's annoying. Plenty of people in this world do not pay for their own stuff!. So i have 5 kids. All there accounts show as my name when people add them for Photo streams etc etc. This is ridiculous. Why not seperate billing address / credit card details to the name of the person on the account? If that's the only place you used that unique font, yes. Convert the textbox to an image file by applying a drop shadow to the font and setting the opacity of the drop shadow to 5%.
