Adobe InDesign CS3 Printing Glitch

Not sure if this is an issue with the printer drivers or InDesign, but anytime I try and print from InDesign with a document that has a rotated image it will glitch and half of the rotated image will be rotated even further.
Any thought or Idea's or hopefully a solution?
Thanks.

is there a consistancy to the failing file format? is this always .eps links or would an rotated ID frame fail.
Have you checked for a most up to date driver for the printer, and what printer type; does this happen if exported to pdf?

  • InDesign CS3 Print Booklet function

I have an issue with InDesign CS3 Print Booklet Function.
Certainly Print Booklet is not InBooklet by any stretch. It does however have to be an integral part of the InDesign Program(one of the reasons it is better than QuarkXPress).
Print Booklet takes the age old practice of creating 4 page signatures for booklets of 4-page multiples and when you get to 12-16 pages it mysteriously inserts blank pages making non-4 page multiple booklets. I have had 12 page booklets made into 14 and 16 page booklets into 18 pages.
Is there a fix for this issue forthcoming from Adobe, or has anyone discovered a workaround?
I do not want to teach students that they have to go to PDF's and use another way to impose, when it is an important part of InDesign.

    >I click Printer Settings to make sure I've got spreads selected and crop marks etc.
Make sure you DON'T have the "print spreads" box checked when setting up to use Print Booklet.
    >make booklet makes low res pages in an InDesign file and Booklet CE 3.5 makes a new InDesign file up of individual PDFs but the pages are all out of order.
I'm not sure what you mean by "make booklet makes low res pages." Are you referring to Dave's MakeBooklet.jsx script? That simply places the pages from an existing InDesign file into a new file in Printer spread order. It's up to you what sort of resolution any page element has in the original file, or what PDF settings you use to make a PDF from the new file. Perhaps you need to adjust your View > Display Quality setting?
The pages in an imposed file SHOULD be "all out of order." You are looking at printer's spreads, not reader's spreads. Are they not in the correct order for printing?

  • Adobe Creative Suite CS3 - Adobe Indesign CS3 Debug: Installation on the same PC?

    Hi
Is it possible to install Adobe Creative Suite CS3 and Adobe Indesign CS3 Debug on the same PC?
If yes how can I do that?
I have tried it but if I install the debug version there is a message that I can't install it because there is a conflict.
    Thanks
    Hans

    Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can help me :S
I have designed a card measuring 210mm x 74mm. The printer has asked me to impose as head to head, 5mm double trims and bleed. I have no idea how to do this and seem to be wasting my time tring to google it. Trouble is I am trying to impose 4 pdf's into the 1 indesign file and when i export it as a pdf i can't see any trim mark/crop marks surrounding the edges of any of the 2 files (apart from the corners of the pages). I've probably just confused the hell out of you now but if you can help me I would really appreciate it. If I need to clarify anything please let me know.
    Thanks in advance!!

  • Book Adobe InDesign CS3/CS4 SDK Programming by Kris Coppieters

Hi there, I would like to ask if anybody knows whether Adobe® InDesign® CS3/CS4 SDK Programming Book by Kris Coppieters is available as ebook, since I could find only printed version on Lulu.com. Thanks for your help

    Hi Maciej,
No, I've never released my book as an ebook. Not sure if it would be worth the effort - it's an awfully small market! I have my book up on Lulu primarily for my own use, as course notes that I use when I run an InDesign SDK training session - so I can quickly print some nice quality handouts for my students.
    Cheers,
    Kris

  • Placed QuarkXpress 7 eps into InDesign CS3 prints with slanted type

    any suggestions to fix?

placed QuarkXpress 7 eps into InDesign CS3 prints with slanted type
The problem may be in the HP print drivers.
Printing to Epson printers works, printing to HP 132, 5000 or 2200 produces slanted type, even at Adobe.
Printing to disk as a Postscript printer and then printing the ps file using the pdf printer works fine.

  • Adobe InDesign CS3

After updating, cannot get Adobe InDesign CS3 to open, keeps asking for Java SE6 runtime, but that won't install, Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Do a search for Java for OS X 2014-001. Sorry it wouldn't allow me to paste in the link. The install worked for me, so now my Illustrator works. According to others, this is what you need. My InDesign had been working, but my Illustrator didn't work until I installed the Java for OS X 2014-001. "Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005. Please quit any Java applications before installing this update. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6133  for more details about this update. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222 for information about the security content of this update."

  • Bold contents in Adobe Indesign CS3

Hi there, I would like to know how to locate and use the bold command in Adobe Indesign CS3.

@Serika – just that what Peter said. But in some situations it does not work at all or yield "wrong" results. It all depends how many styles of your font family are available or fell in the category "Bold" weight.
One positive example is "Times New Roman" where four variants are present: "Regular", "Italic", "Bold" and "Bold Italic".
One intermediate example is "Warnock Pro" where more than four font variants are in the family.
It works for you to set "Regular" to "Bold" and back, but it won't work setting "Light" to "Bold" with the keyboard shortcuts.
Also, you could not get "Semibold" if you like to.
One negative example out of many is "Hiragino Kaku Gothic Pro", where there is no "Regular" or "Bold" face, just "W3" or "W6". With that font you cannot switch from "W3" to "W6" with a keyboard shortcut.
(And there are thousands of other fonts out, that are not working the way you are expecting it).
    Conclusion:
    Always work with Character Styles.
And apply Keyboard Shortcuts to them.

  • MDM and Adobe Indesign CS3

    Hi everybody,
does anybody know wether the new version of Adobe Indesign CS3 works with MDM 5.5 SP3 ? Or do i need a newer version/ SP for this software version?
    Thanks for your help!

    Frederik,
As far as I know there is only support for InDesign CS & CS2 (& Quark 5.0.1) using the most recent version of MDM. The InDesign plug-ins provided with installation are for CS and CS2. As far as I know CS3 is not even shipping until later this month, so it will probably take a short time until SAP has a plug-in to work with MDM.

  • Adobe InDesign CS3 not running?

i get a crash report as soon as i try to run Adobe InDesign CS3 any help on it? i as something that they are working on it? how soon can i see this happening is there any thing I can do to fix it? i need this for school by monday to get this big project done. pleas help.

I see you posted two topics with the same problem. Not smart. But here is my answer from the other topic in this one as well. I hope it helps you out.
InDesign CS3 worked fine for me, for a week. Now it crashes on launch too. On rare occasions where it doesn't crash on launch it will crash opening any file.
Adobe recommends people do a clean install of Leopard instead of an upgrade to prevent this. This is what I read on their website. I did a clean install, and yet InDesign crashes. So no luck with that tip. I managed to get it working this morning.
    * I deleted all application font caches using (free) FontExplorer (Linotype)
    * I deleted all applications with the official installer (it has that option)
    * I switched off as many fonts as possible to eliminate corrupt font issues
    * I re-installed InDesign, ran Adobe Updater and rebooted my system
    After that. It ran.
No explanation for why it started crashing before. Maybe this works for you. It wil take some time though so make yourself some coffee or something :-S
    Adobe should look into this.
    About fonts not working:
Leopard is very strict with fonts I noticed. Some of my (legally purchased and non corrupt) fonts that worked in Tiger no longer work or work incorrectly in Leopard (noticably when using old style figures in fonts that have no regular figures).
    Not good.

  • Back-saving Adobe CC / CS6 InDesign files for use in Adobe InDesign CS3?

I am currently running Adobe CS3 on a Macintosh computer / OS. Is it possible to back-save Adobe CC / CS6 InDesign files for use in Adobe InDesign CS3?

@kc.k – You will need InDesign CS4 for that.
CS4 is the only version, that can export/import both IDML and INX exchange formats.
And you need an exported INX file (from InDesign CS4) that can open your exported IDML file from CS6, CC or CC-2014.
Since you are still running CS3 I'd suggest you downloading a 30days version of CS4 and do the conversion:
Download Adobe CS4 and CS3 Free Trials Here (incl. After Effects) | ProDesignTools
Read the Note about downloading very well before trying !!

  • Since installing Lion Adobe InDesign CS3 crashes when I print.

I upgraded to Lion yesterday and, now that I am at work, I find that InDesign CS3 (5.0.4) crashes when I print. It doesn't hang...it just pops. My printer drivers (for our Xerox WC7775, with Fiery) no longer work for my other applications (Word, BBEdit). To get CS3 to work I installed Java Runtime through the automatic installer.
Upgrading to CS5.5 is not possible, as our whole office is on CS3.
Is there anything I can do?

Well, I strongly feel it is an Apple issue. Granted I should have done more research before I upgraded, but I (naively) thought that Lionwould be another instance of Apple improving their product, and enhancing its capabilities. In this I was wrong. But then why produce an OS that's incompatible with a large block of your user base?
    (1) OS-makers set the rules, and it is incumbent on them tobehave in a gentlewomanly/manly fashion. It seems inconceivable that it's in Apple's best interests to prevent Adobe products from working. Yet that seems to be the case here. It's like Bloom returning home in Joyce's Ulysses: it's dark and all the furniture has been moved.
And fellow-software makers should help each other out: when there's a flood in anoffice building (as there is here) everyone drops what they're doing to pitchin.
Maybe this was all a product of a *******-match between Adobe and Apple(recall the PDF support issues on the iPad), but from a users' perspective this is irrelevant. It's the argument that was made in the Financial Times recently about the fall of Netflix: Customers don't give a fig what your internal business priorities are, they want the products that they bought from you to work and be priced well.
    (2) The very kludgy work-arounds to this issue, involving deleting or hiding PPDs in the system library (specifically inOS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/), suggest that what is causing the InDesign CS3.x to crash is minor in nature. I.e. a patch could easily bewritten.
    (3) Adobe CS3.x applications are the first generation of "Universal" apps. Okay, maybe their implementation was not ideal (as this shows) but they were written to the rules at Apple laid out for them, rules that are still in place now. As with my first point (1) it's unfair to change the rules on Adobe after the fact.
    (4) Who could expect that the step from 10.6.x 10.7.1 (the.1 presumably meaning that some initial kinks had been worked out) would be so traumatic? We are not talking here about a step from Classic or PPC. (I remember these, but because they were structural changes everyone, at some level, was prepared for the change.) This is not about getting Rosetta to work on 10.7.
    (5) We are not talking about a minor set of applications here either. Considering the long-standing use of Macs by the design community, in print, production, and photo, the support of Adobe apps should have been aconsideration for Apple. But when you look at the list of issues with this upgrade (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/905/cpsid_90508.html) it's hair-raisingly long. And note these are CS5.5 apps: the very newest software you can get from Adobe. If part of your argument is that it's incumbent on people to keep their software up-to-date, then here's a set of OS issues that are affecting users of software that was released just this spring.
    (6) Even if Adobe CS5.5 was fully supported (see (5)), it's unreasonable to expect everyone to upgrade all of their software packages each time the OS is upgraded (as opposed to completely revised: again, as in (4)10.6.x was not Classic). All of my personal software is up-to date, but I cannot say the same of my clients and my employer: they hold to older computers and software packs as long as they can because the software was so expensive.CS5.5 Design Premium is $1900. For any organization this is a big chunk of cash to doll out regularly. My employer is a non-profit: should they replace their software because I have upgraded my laptop? Or should I stop upgrading my software because they can't afford to get CS5.5 (even if it was properly supported)?
And, what if we buy a new Mac? Presumably this will come with Lion. It's clear with this that this is no longer a $4000 proposition, but a $10,000 proposition, since all the other copies of CS3.x would have to be upgraded.

  • Distribution of InDesign CS3 Print Presets

Is there a way to "mass" distribute InDesign Print Presets for InDesign CS3?
Have a large list of Print Presets saved on a server. Would like to "push" them out to over 20 production Macs with CS3, using something like Apple Remote Desktop. Each Print Preset that exists on the server are also on one specific Mac. Each has a unique name. But can NOT find these names when doing a search on the Mac. Where are they actually being stored?

The CS3 print presets are stored in the ID Preferences (~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/ Version 5.0/InDesign Defaults).
Here is a link to an InDesign Secrets article which talks about how to export the presets to a .prst file:
This article covers CS and CS2, but I'm guessing it's the same for CS3.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 printing to an HP Pro B9180

I am trying to print a borderless project. The preview looks perfect but when printed it cuts 1/8th of an inch off the top. I have reinstalled Adobe Photoshop CS3, reinstalled the printer and spent 2 hours with an HP tech online and no fixes yet. Windows Vista Home Premium is the O/S.
    Any suggestions, thanks Jan

    Hi Jan,
Don't know if this will help or not, but it may be worth a look. Russell Brown has a video tutorial on printing with CS3 to the HP Photosmart B9180 here:
    http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html
You'll have to scroll about 1/3 down the page to get to the section entitled
Adobe Photoshop CS3 Standard Edition Tutorials
and its the third tutorial in the list. He also gives some useful tips about drivers et cetera.
    Good luck.
