Adobe Indesign Server IPs

Hello
I work for a large college and we have recently discovered that adobe indesign is very slow to load up as when the application tries to load up our ISA firewall is refusing a connection to a server on the 193.104.215.0/24 range. We have allowed connections to this server range which has resolved the issue for now, however we need to know if this is the only range we need to unblock.
I have found this list of server addresses
http://helpx.adobe.com/analytics/kb/adobe-ip-addresses.html
Does anyone know if we need to allow connections to all of these servers to prevent this problem reoccuring?
Thanks

Keine Ahnung. Im entsprechenden englischen Forum fragen und mal geneu Systeminformationen geben.

    I don't have a server at hand right now ( that machine is busy with an OSX install, on a different partition ) but you could start by looking for any Adobe document that even mentions VC++ 2008.
    In other words, at least for the desktop version of CS4 the oficial compiler is the VC 2005 SP1 .
    Express should be no problem, I use it myself: "VS80sp1-KB926748-X86-INTL.exe"
    You'll also need the matching Windows SDK. Watch out for something labeled "5.2.3790.2075.51.PlatformSDK_Svr2003R2_rtm.dmg"

    Afterthought: funny that this thread always pops up when my experimental machine is busy ;-)

  • Problems with installation  Fonts into Adobe InDesign Server

    Hi,
    I have a problem to install the fonts into Adobe InDesign Server.
    I'm developing an application that manage the fonts, principally It's move font file to directory Fonts of Indesign Server. That works.
    The problem is that InDesing spends more than 10 seconds to detect it. I need that it works inmediately.
    How can I do it? Can I load the font with SDK?
    Thanks for your help

  • Adobe Indesign Server is not properly licensed.

    I am having trouble activating Indesign CC server 2014,StartTrial Successful Return code = 0, however i get this: ERROR [server] Adobe Indesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit. How do i resolve this issue?

    I'm afraid I know nothing about setting up or running Server (and there are not a lot of users on this particular forum who will). I suspect you'll have better luck asking in the scripting forum: InDesign Scripting

  • Search for, edit, and delete XML tag (Adobe InDesign Server CS5)

    Hi all,
    I'm working with Indesign Server CS5 and JavaScript, though having some trouble coming up with a solution to a problem...
    I need to build a JS script (called through SOAP) that will enable me to search an InDesign file for a given XML tag.
    Upon finding the XML tag, if the 'action' variable is set to delete, it should delete the tag and its contents.
    If the action is set to edit, it should change the contents of the tag to some user-specified content.
    The primary caveat is that the XML tag is variable, as is the XML structure of the InDesign file.
    Here's what I have in mind, in pseudocode:
    function findXMLTag(tag, action) {
         app.searchForTag(tag);
         if (tagIsFound) {
              if (action == "delete") {
                   tag.delete;
              } else if (action == "edit") {
                   tag.contents = "Updated content";
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Ben Kay

    'searchForTag' can be implemented as a recursive function.
    Recursion is defined like this: I thought, "I'll just search this forum for 'recursion'." The first post I found was one of my own, suggesting that the poster should search the forum for 'recursion'.
    Here is an example: find the XML Element [<email>]
    And another: Remove xml element using JS[CS3] (read carefully, as the OP got stuck on how to successfully remove an element and continue)
    And one, using XML Rules -- which I'm totally unfamiliar with, but may work for you: Changing Values in XML tags

    you might find it quicker to resolve this by contacting adobe support, http://www.adobe.com/support/chat/ivrchat.html

  • Adobe InDesign Server CC 2014 compatible with Windows 2012 Server R2.

    The systemrequirements are maybe not up to date.
    There i can not see the R2 version supported.
    Are all newer releases supported?
    Thx

    So has Adobe Officially Released Server CC 2014?

  • Adobe InDesign CS5 Server JavaScript: Get rectangle by XML tag

    Hi,
    Current set-up:
    Adobe InDesign Server CS5 scripted through ExtendScript via PHP SOAP
    The problem:
    I'm currently placing an image file into a rectangle using the following code:
    frame     =   doc.rectangles[0];
    imgList   =   frame.place(new File(img));
    This works fine; the img file is placed into the rectangle as expected. However, this only refers to the first rectangle in the document: if I have two rectangles in the document, the image is placed into the last created rectangle.
    What I'd ideally like to be able to refer to the rectangle by its XML tag - something like:
    frame     =   doc.getRectangleByTag('Pic'); // <Pic> being the name of the XML tag
    imgList   =   frame.place(new File(img));
    Does anyone have any advice as to how this can be achieved? I realise this is rudimentary question, but am finding no joy after several hours of searching.
    Many thanks

    What I'd ideally like to be able to refer to the rectangle by its XML tag - something like:
    frame     =   doc.getRectangleByTag('Pic'); // <Pic> being the name of the XML tag
    imgList   =   frame.place(new File(img));
    Are you sure you want to do it this way?
    Could you explain why? I suspect there is a better solution.
    In any case, at least in my test case, the XML tag is associated with the image inside the frame and not the frame itself. So if you want the frame, you must get the image associated with the tag and then go up to the parent. This works in a simple test:
    var frame =
        app.activeDocument.xmlElements[0].
        evaluateXPathExpression("//tennis")[0].
        graphics[0].parent;
    [object Rectangle]

  • Problem with InDesign Server CS5

    Hi all,
    when i run from prompt (of Windows Server 2008) the command "InDesign Server.com -port 18383" the system respond "Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit", until some days ago the InDesign Server work perfecly. What i do for that issue ? I try to run cthe command "InDesignServer.com -serilanumber xxxxxx" and the command "InDesignServer.exe -serilanumber xxxxxxx" but doesn't work (the system says me the same think "Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed etc etc"). What can i do ?
    Thank you in advance
    Luca

    If you are using CS6, you need to link the installation to an Adobe ID. The simplest way to do that is input the Adobe ID while you install, but you can use the tools (I forget off hand what they are called) to do that afterwards.

  • InDesign Server :line 13: 2753 Bus error "$installed_name" "$@"

    [InDesign Server CS4, CS5, CS5.5    line 13: 2753 Bus error "$installed_name" "$@"]
    We support a few clients on various version of InDesign Server and all have exactly the same issue upon having the application produce PDF files...   line 13: 2753 Bus error "$installed_name" "$@"   which causes InDesign Server to unexpectedly quit.
    Searching these forums we have found CS3 instances of this error message pointing to fonts not loaded on the machine running InDesign Server, but no "this is what we did to fix it" solution has been found.
    Our customers are running beefed up MacPros or Mac Minis with Mac OS 10.6 (non server) and OS 10.7 (server), 8GB - 16GB RAM, 1TB HD
    For font management we have the following being utilized:
    - Universal type server
      - if no plugin exists for InD Server, not sure how much this app will help manage fonts
    - Suitcase Server
    - if no plugin exists for InD Server, not sure how much this app will help manage fonts
    - Loading all fonts into:   /Users/*/Library/Fonts
      - seems to be the best option for font management on a system running InDesign Server
    Our company develops a plugin for InDesign Server and allows regular InDesign to produce the pdfs in a similar manner.  Running our plugin under regular InDesign we DO NOT have these issues of BUS errors, yet as soon as any of our customers utilize InDesign Server, they all immediately see BUS errors.
    We have written a shell script that quits (normally) indesign server, and relaunches it (if quit abnormally) so that we have some semblance of an "always on" InDesign Server application, but this is merely a band-aid fix for a bigger problem.
    We are pointing the finger at Adobe InDesign Server being the problem here, yet our customers do not care where the blame is placed, we are seeing a solution for them in any fashion that presents a permanent solution.

    Hi Julio,
    I am having the same exact problem. We are evaluating the InDesign server and will consider buying it only if it performs reasonably stable. This "installed_name" "$@" is baffling us.
    Team Adobe InDesign Server: Kindly address this concern soon!

  • InDesign Server crashes on PDF export

    I've narrowed the problem down to the PDF presets we have defined.
    We have two PDF Presets that we use with our InDesign Server, one for low quality and one for high quality.
    When exporting a document using our high quality preset, IDS will sometimes crash altogether and will have to be restarted. We've never had this problem using our low quality preset.
    The only differences between the two presets are the image compression settings. Our HQ preset is set to 200PPI for color & grayscale images, while our LQ preset is set to 72 for color and 120 for grayscale images. Also, Image quality is set to High on our HQ and Medium on our LQ preset. Those are the ONLY descrepancies between the two.
    Does IDS have problems with exporting higher quality PDFs? Is this a known issue with ID?
    I can lower the quality of the PDF and it seems to fix the issue, but I'd like to know why this happens. Also, the whole purpose of exporting in HQ is to have a "high quality" PDF.
    Production Server Hardware -
    Windows Server 2008 R2 x64
    Two of these processors - Intel Xeon CPU X5570 @ 2.93 GHz - 8 cores
    20 GB of memory
    Software Running -
    Adobe InDesign Server CS5 v 7.0.3

    I don't use the server edition, but the regular version certainly doesn't have a problem with high resolution. I have once or twice, though, seen a problem with a custom preset created in an earlier version. This seems to have disappeared for me with the 7.0.3 update, though.
    Prests being as easy to creat as they are, though, you might want to try remaking any problem presets, starting from one of the canned presets if possible, and see if it makes a difference.

  • Cannot connect to Indesign Server process

    We have Indesign Server CS 5.5 (with all patches installed) running inside a Virtual Machine. Our application (c#) also runs in a virtual machine with full admin priv.
    Only 1 instance of Indesign Server is configured (using the MMC snap in) and uses the configuration name test (-configuration test) set in the command line arguments.
    InDesignServer.exe is started by the service InDesignServerService.
    The problem is that the service starts InDesignServer.exe with an unknown configuration name....so our application cannot connect to it. It should be using the configuration name set using the MMC snap in (-configuration test in this case). I also tried specifying the configuration name in the service startup parameters (using services.msc)...that did not work either. \
    IndesignServerService DOES create the configuration name folder in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\InDesign Server\Version 7.5\en_US\ but it just doesn't register the configuration name in the Running Objects Table so our application cannot use it.
    If we manually started InDesignServer.exe from command line using: InDesignServer.exe -configuration test, our application can connect to it. If we start it manually using command line, the configuration name is registered in the Running Objects Table.
    How can we fix this so the service starts InDesignServer.exe and registers the configuration name in the running objects table?
    The code we use to connect to the InDesignServer is the same one in the adobe documentation:
    string instanceName = "configuration_noport";
    dynamic app = (System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.BindToMoniker(instanceName));
    It only works if we start it manually from command line....it does not work if we let the service start it.

    Now try to execute the compile class from the command line; let us say the class is inside c:\tmp now make a directory inside the tmp and called it lib
    copy the jar file which contains MYSQL driver into lib
    on the command line on the current directory ( c:\tmp) type
    java -cp ./lib/mysql-connector.jar ConnectTest
    The PATH env. variable has nothing to do with the jar file on the classpath; the path allows you to execute program from any command line directory if the program is on the path
    CLASSPATH. Specifying where to search for additional libraries in Windows is easily done by seeting the environment variable CLASSPATH, which Java uses to see where it should find Java programs and libraries but never seen any success with it. So the best thing is to explicityl mention it on the command line ( jar dependecies)

  • Configuration name of an InDesign Server instance

    Hello folks!
    I have an question.
    I started several instance of InDesignServer with different gonfiguration name.(Server_1 , Server_2 ...)
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign Server CS2>InDesignServer.com -conf
    iguration Server_1 -port 4001
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign Server CS2>InDesignServer.com -conf
    iguration Server_2 -port 4002
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign Server CS2>InDesignServer.com -conf
    iguration Server_3 -port 4003
    Does anybody know how can I get the configuration name of the given instance of InDesign Setver in my plugin?
    The reason is I want to write different settings for every instance in separate files.

    from the CCommandLineArgs.h file:
    i "At startup an object of type CCommandLineArgs is created and referenced by the global variable gCommandLineArgs, declared below. Command line arguments should be accessed through this variable."
    you can use the variable gCommandLineArgs to get the arguments.
