Adobe Install

My Adobe Photoshop Elements 11  is causing major problems. My son recently downloaded a virus so I reloaded Windows 7 did all the updates and then installed Adobe. My DVD would not eject after the install and computer started acting crazy. I installed i prior to downloading Norton. It got were I could not reboot and system kept freezing. I reimaged Windows again. DVD eject was working fine before trying to Install Adobe again. My drive would not eject again. Need help. Uninstalled adobe and drive will still not eject.

Dale,
Under www.adobe.com/downloads in the "Acrobat family" section, there is no "Try" link for Acrobat 8 Standard - only Acrobat 8 Pro, Connect, Acrobat 3D, and PDF Online. Can you specify what exactly you are trying to download and the full URL? Thanks.

Good luck there.  In case you don't know this, you should consider making a genius bar appointment at the Apple Store.  Assuming you're in the U.S., start here to make your appointment: http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/

  • Why does Adobe install 3rd party software with PE 10 without asking?

I purchased Photoshop Elements and Priemere Elements 10 together. During installation Adobe installed SmartSound Sonicfire Pro 5 on my computer. The installation did not ask if I wanted to install this software and there was no option to not install it. I am the only one who installs applications on my computer so what gives Adobe the right to decide what to install for me. Sonicfire Pro 5 is unwanted by me and it pains me greatly that software was installed on my computer without my consent. Besides it takes up 30GB of disk space. Yes I can uninstall it and I will but it should not have been installed in the first place. I bought Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 because I was happy with my purchase of Photoshop Elements 6 and Premiere Elements 4 and wanted to have newer versions but now I am very unhappy. I will never buy a Adobe product or suggest Adobe products to anyone ever again. The only thing that would change my mind would be if Adobes next version did not contain any 3rd party software or if it did one should be given a choice during installation as to install it or not and Adobe should give me a free version to replace the one I have. As those two things are unlikely to happen I will continue to never buy any Adobe software or suggest to anyone to buy Adobe products and faithfully watch the stock market as Adobe stocks continue to decline. Guess what I do for a living!

I did not answer you question, because I have no answer. That was why I recommended contacting Adobe. Though, at times, it might not seem like it, but they do listen to their customers. They collect tons of data, and try to prioritize things, based on that input. This is for Feature Requests, or just comments on how one likes, or does not like, the software.
In very general terms, I find Adobe products to be very benign, and especially to many other companies' software.
Over the decades, I only recall a few instances, where something was installed, without my input, at some level. Back about PS CS, there were some NIK Filters that were installed, and a few of them were "trials," which I am not keen on. SmartSound would be another example, except that I would want it, regardless (and probably only complain, if it was missing).
One of the biggest rubs that I had with Pinnacle Studio was that even if one bought their biggest, most expensive package, a ton of Effects and Transitions were loaded as trials. To get all of those, one had to spend about US $400, above the price of the NLE. Not sure if that is still the case, as I switched to AVID Liquid, about they time they bought Pinnacle, and have not seen Pinnacle Studio in many years. When I moved from Liquid, to PrPro, and the CS2 Production Studio, I never looked back at AVID/Pinnacle. Now, CS2 Production Studio came with about 8 programs, and then a ton of "Goodies." I would have loved to have the Goodies as options in the full suite installation. As it was, I had to do the main, muli-program install, and then run installation routines for maybe 30 other plug-ins, add-ons and stand-alones.
No, like you, I refuse to update my iTunes, as so much "other stuff" gets installed, and then I have to clean it out. You are not alone, except that we see SmartSound from different sides. Though I understand your not wanting anything, but the program, I view that as a necessity.
My suggestion to Adobe would be to include that as a separate, user-selectable install, though I have never heard of anyone complaining, unless SmartSound did not work for them.
I understand personal principles, and try to adhere to my own, but before you pass on SmartSound, I beg you to try it out. That will not ameliorate the need for Adobe to let the user decide what is/is not installed, but with a few sessions, you might change your mind about the program, itself.
Do let Adobe know how you feel, and perhaps SmartSound will become an additional installation, like the additional Functional Content.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Adobe Install with SSD Suggestions Needed

Built a new system over the holidays with Win7 64 bit.  Bought the Academic/Student version of Production Premium Suite, so I have the 'trial' version installed until Adobe approves my credentials and sends me the activation code.  My system has an SSD, which I want to keep 'clean' with just the OS, and then a hard drive where I want to store my apps and data.
I changed the registry to make my Program Files folder no longer point to the C:\ drive (the SSD) and to my hard drive, which is D:\.
Apparently, that was not a 'supported' change for Adobe, as I am encountering a Configuration Error 1.  Looking through the web, I found these discussions:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop_cs6_extende...
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4660774
Those discussions are a little dated, so I'm hoping some people in the forum have discovered better methods to have the Adobe suite work when the 'Program Files' folder has been changed from the C:\ drive.  Here are my current thoughts:
    1) Adobe fixed this issue with an update.
I can't find evidence of this, so I don't think it has been fixed.  I also hesitate to add the updates and keep running into this bug.  Does anyone know if this has been fixed?
    2) I copy all of the 'Common Files' from the C:\ drive to the D:\ drive, as explained in one of the posts.
I did this.  Interestingly, the Adobe install put all of the 64 bit apps on the D:\ drive, but I can't run them.  I keep getting asked if I want to register now or later.  When I click 'Later', it just asks me again.  So, I have to think it is looking on the C:\ drive for something that is not there.  The Adobe install put all of the 32-bit apps on the C:\ drive (so it ignored the registry change).  I moved it all to my D:\ drive and these are working, but I just wonder what else I will encounter down the road.
    3) I change my registry entries to point back to the C:\ drive.
I have installed other programs (that installed just fine to the D:\ drive, by the way), so I hesitate switching it back to C:\ as it will disrupt all of their links.  If I have to go down this path, I will likely uninstall everything, and then re-install.
    4) Any other suggestions?
This is the reason for this post.  I listed the possible solutions I know of above, but am wondering if anyone else has a better work around.
    </gripe on>
I am really surprised that Adobe is hardcoding some of the installation paths.  That is why the registry exists and standard pathnames (i.e. %PROGRAMFILES%) are defined in the first place.  To ignore those choices is just plain poor programming.
I realize that 5 years from now,  SSDs will be cheaper and in the TB range, but, currently, it is not uncommon for people to limit what is installed on them due to their size.  So, I know I am not alone in this configuration desire, and I am not alone in encountering this problem with Adobe.  I'm just surprised this has not been fixed (and it should have been programmed this way in the first place).
    </gripe off>
    Thanks,
    Pauley

Okay, thanks guys for affirming the need to uninstall and reinstall.  Luckily, it is a new system so I should not impact too much.
I have a 256GB, so it should fit, and I was debating about having the Adobe software on it, anyway, since, as you say, the point is to take advantage of the SSD even beyond the OS, and the Adobe SW can use some speed boost on load.
2TB SSD array, must be nice.
Still wish I could truly designate the software install location.  Maybe CS7...

  • Why does this adobe install thing pop up?

i was checking my email on yahoo! and this adobe install thing popped up and asked if i wanted to install it. why do i need do install this for safari?

Yes there is one at: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
According to this page, it should work in Safari:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/productinfo/systemreqs/
I don't use it. For security reasons, I disabled all plugins for Safari. If I visit a page that needs plugins, I use Firefox with the Flash Blocker.
Then I can click on the flash play button when I am ready to view it.

  • Adobe install not working - PLEASE HELP!

Hi, I seem to be having trouble installing the updated Adobe Flash Player verison.
I'm trying to download Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.233 for Firefox 11.0 (x86 en-us) and when I try downloading the file I recieve one of two error messages.
    This is the first one
    Opening install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aih.exe
C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Temp\DjHhSRiS.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
Try again later, or contact the server administrator.
The odd time I get pass this part of the problem but then when I try to run the installation this window pops up.
    Host
Certificate authentication failed, please re-install to correct the problem.
I've tried countless times over the past 12 or so hours (most over a 2-3 hour stretch mind you) but I always get the same messages.
I even restored my system so I could have my previous version of Adobe Flash Player back so I could view some videos on YouTube to see if I could solve the problem through that.
I have also tried installing Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.233 for IE (I'm not sure what version I have, I think 9) but it also won't download from there. It says the installation has been interrupted. I saw on another help site someone posted that you should enable Adboe PDF Link Helper when installing the flash player for IE but I did that and the installation still wouldn't complete.
I'm not sure what else I should try and do.
I would really appreciate some help on this.
    Thank you.
UPDATE: I tried downloading Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.233 on another laptop to see if I coulnd transfer the file over on a USB Key however I got the same error message on that laptop as well. I was using IE on the second latop and wanted to try it for Firefox but that laptop did not have Firefox installed. Now that this message has appeared on a second computer could this mean that the majority of people are having problems updating to this flash version?
UPDATE #2: I've also uploaded a picture of the Open File - Security window that pops up before it allows me to run the installation (or attempt too). It's the bottom of the window that catches my attention, it says "This file does not have a valid digital signature that verifies it's publisher."  I don't understand why it would say that if I'm downloading straight from Adobe's website.
    Any thoughts?

Try downloading the offline installers from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#Ins tall_in_a_firewall_proxy_server_environment

  • Why won't my adobe Install app deploy...

After inserting and reinserting the first install dvd for CS4...it finally loaded the first disk and downloaded all the information!!! Hooray!
However, when I tried to load the second disk...same thing...it kept spitting it out and not acknowledging it...
But after several more tries Hooray! It loaded up and was succesful in installing CS4 completely...
Now for the other half of my battle...
Upon introducing the CS5 upgrade disk...it loads but will not automatically start uploading and when I: Finder > GO> "computer"> disk icon > cs5 folder icon > install.app icon...it then initializes installer, but halfway into the download it quits with the following message:
"Installer failed to initialize... Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."...been there, done that and it finds no issues, detects no problems, hence no solutions.
Your help would be deeply appreciated. Thank you! Oh, yeah...2009 MacBook Pro, Mac OS X Version 10.7.5

  • Did adobe install the adobe plug-in?

How can I tell if my computer was hacked by the new Adobe Flash Player Plug-in Virus.
Adobe recently requested to install an update and I tried.  I do not think it installed.
Right after that my computer started acting up:  The gear ineterfered with searching by stopping scrolling.  I could not shut down or get out of the program.  This continued for a couple of days and now has stopped.
I read that if the Adobe Plug-in was successful it is not repairable.  I am not that computer savvy.
    Help please from anyone.
    Thank you.

What version of Mac OS X are you running? If you don't know, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu.
I can't say whether that Adobe Flash Player update was legitimate or not, based on the limited information you have provided. However, I think that it's unlikely that you are infected with anything, and that the problem that you had was related to something else. I would recommend trying the things in my Mac Performance Guide.

  • Adobe installing programmes without permission

I just installed an update for adobe reader and it installed google chrome as well, I don't recall giving permission for this. Is there a way of stopping adobe doing things like that in future?

Adobe offer Chrome or other stuff when you download from http://get.adobe.com/reader .
    I wish it wouldn't.
It is clearly shown as "Optional offer" in the middle column of the page and can be turned off.
Did you go to that page? If not, you might have malware which is downloading what it claims to be updates, but could in fact be anything. If you continue to get update reminders for Adobe Reader despite updating, that's especially likely.

  • Adobe install problems

I tried to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and got error 1311. So, I manually de-installed all Adobe files and deleted. I have run a scan on my laptop - no issues to report. I removed also the Adobe Free Reader X.
Now, it seems that not only can't I download my purchased cd but also I can't down load the free Reader either. What can we do to put this right? I really need this software to work ungently.
    thanks, Alison.

    run the cleaner:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    restart you computer.
    download and install pse 11:
if you follow all 7 steps you can dl a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
    and activate with your serial.
if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
then download and install reader:  http://get.adobe.com/reader/

  • Why won't Adobe install on Mac Os X 10.9.2?

I tried so many times and it just won't finishing downloading.

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
(If you are running Mavericks: After years of fighting malware and exploits facilitated through Adobe's Flash Player, the company is taking advantage of Apple's new App Sandbox feature to restrict malicious code from running outside of Safari in OS X Mavericks.)
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:
When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.

  • Why is Adobe installing McAfee software by stealth?

I cannot understand why Adobe is installing McAfee software by stealth, and infuriating users like myself?
I cannot understand the mindset in a supposedly clever organisation that could imagine that this is OK?
It is fundamentally both deceitful and patronising.

    sicjoshsic wrote:
Wanted to add a voice to this, disgusting behaviour. The latest Flash update provides NO option to customise the installation (i.e. remove unwanted McAfee Security). There may be an alternative download site, but the automatic update option has no options.
The more I use Adobe products, the less I want to. The sooner the web catches up with HTML5 and dumps Flash the better.
You DO have the option to disable automatic updates. Your post doesn't read as though you don't know how to do that, but it's in the Global Settings under the Advanced tab. The downside is that you have to manually update, but the following links remain the same even though the file is updated with each release:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
They contain the FULL installer only. Bookmark them and you'll never have to bother with third party software.

  • Why is Adobe installing unwanted and unrequested software with Flash updates?

Flash is just a free utility. I don't want McAfee Security Scan Plus near my PC, now or ever, so why is it installed by default for the too quick, or the ignorant, every time they update Flash. At least make MASSP opt-in rather than the default. There's a word for this behaviour, and it's not complementary. Adobe should not be breaking basic Internet etiquette rules.

If you have Acrobat, rather than the free Adobe Reader, there is no offer of Macafee, so far as I know; you've been scammed.
If you have the free Reader you can turn it off with an option like this:
but if you didn't get that I strongly suspect a scam. There are a lot of fake Reader updates out there and I'd be more worried about the things it didn't mention...
