ADOBE IS F* USELESS

ok, no doubt people will say, Adobe is not useless, Flash
player 9 is coming soon? How can you say that?
Linux flash player is still on version 7, I have emailed
support, used the best language i could think of, asked nicely,
used the forums, pm'd people and after a year, NOTHING ... and
where is flash player 8 or 9 for linux? no where!!
Now, before you get all randy on my *** ... just keep in mind
that i'm talking about a little flash player ... not MX Studio ...
if Adobe has trouble porting a proper version of Flash player ...
##snip##
Riann,
I cannot provide any information on Flash Player 9 for Linux
until there is a public announcement. Sorry.

Why NOT? I'm playing unreal tournament, quake4, i use picasa,
google earth, blender, eclipse, firefox, thunderbird, open office
ALL of them are cross platform compatible, even, Acrobat Reader so
WTF wrong with Flash?

I can understand your frustration. If anything, any fault
lies with the
original authors of Flash Player who did not write the code
in a way that
was easily ported. Also is that the code is optimized (and
optimized code
is always hard to port to other platforms). That meant that
the port of FP8
would take significant time and resource .. time and
resources the
Macromedia needed to devote to its next generation FP9 (that
support the
much better scripting engine etc that is required for Flex 2
to work). So
either Flex 2 (and the revenue that brings in) is delayed for
the sake of a
Linux port of the player (which brings in no revenue at
all).. or the Linux
port is done after FP9. They chose the latter (a sensible
business
decision). But (assuming they have learnt their lesson) the
new FP9 stuff
should be written in a way that is easier to port to other
platforms .. so
hopefully the Linux port of FP9 will be quicker than it would
have been for
FP8 (especially 64-bit platforms).
> There is a simple solution to this, just specify release
dates, and time
> lines!
Macromedia (now adobe) has never announced relase times. If
they do that,
then if there is a problem, pepoole start suing, because they
made business
plans based on announced release dates etc.
When a release date is known, then Adboe will announce it.
Until the
product gets ot the stage when a firm release date can be
made public, it
won't be anounced.
People can speculate and demand and whinge and complain all
they want.
Adboe/Macroemdia will simply not announce things until it is
the right tim
to announce them. that is simple business sense.

> frustration?
Yes .. I understand it. But posts like "ADOBE IS F* USELESS"
don't really
help (guess they just make you feel better for venting
though)
> Also, you cannot just say ... linux is minority so screw
them,
I didn't say that. But as a company, Adboe/Macroemdia have to
make sensible
and responsible business decisions .. in this case it means
the smaller
linux market has a delay in updates, but allows the much
larger window/max
market to update to the new player sooner, and for Adboe to
get its new
flash2 platform out sooner.
> cause dude,
> what about people in wheel chairs, do we just say screw
them, let's just
> build
> stairs all teh way! not that people using linux are
disadvandtaged, but
> i'm
> just making a point about minorities ...
Well .. if we make this a fair analogy and say that 'able
bodied' people are
not able to use ramps (ie windows users cannot use a linux
player) .. and if
we assume that ramps take much longer to build than stairs
... then if you
have people waiting to get into your wonderful new building,
and you make
everyone wait until there are BOTH ramps and stairs (instead
of installing
stairs for the majority first and then putting in the ramps
afterwards ..
then you can see the logic.
> If they can port acrobat reader to linux, surely they
can port a 997 K
> flash
> player?
The effort to port depends on a lot more than the nubmer of
bytes of code ..
thats a very naive conclusion
> Dude, no matter what Operating System you use, you have
to agree that
> this is ridiculas ... heck I'm not asking for much ...
No .. its not ridiculous .. but it is frustrating for you
(and other Linux
users).
But then (I know you won't like hearing this) .. if you do
choose (or are
forced to use) a minority platform like Linux (no matter how
much better it
may be), then the price you have to pay is less range of
applications and
delays in porting. If you want the widest range of software
available
off-the-shelf and sooner (rather than later) ... then you
should choose
Windows as your O/S. Of course, doing so may mean you'd be
sacrificing
things like open source, better security etc etc .. but then
that is part of
the decision you need to make when you choose a platform ..
you can't have
you cake and eat it too (as they say)

  • Adobe Encore - Completely Useless for Bluray

    Hello,
I'd just like to post my experiences for creating a blu-ray disc with Adobe Encore... actually I've been unable to create a proper bluray with this useless program.
    Here's what happens:
Adobe Encore CS3: Error --- "Out of Memory"   -- The bluray will not even compile.
Adobe Encore CS4:  The project compiles into an iso.  The main menu begins to loop at a *1 second* interval, even though I set it to loop every 45 seconds.  Within this 1 second, obviously you can't access any items in the menu.
Adobe Encore CS5:  The project compiles into an iso.  The main menu works fine, however, when I try to access two items in the menu... they don't work at all.  Also my first play video is completely black.
I'd just like to know, isn't Adobe ashamed to release such useless programs for 3 generations without bug fixes?  Programs which cost a lot of money.
I have to admit, Encore did work fine for my dvd projects, but maybe it should stick to being just a dvd authoring program.
After a week of trying to work out my bluray with these programs, I have to start looking for alternatives.
Thanks to the fine Adobe engineering team for releasing this trash for generations straight.

    Dave,
Does your CS4 menu have a video that loops?  If so this needs to be a dynamic link from After Effects to loop properly.
I hate to pile on here but I have to agree.  Encore seems to be the also-ran of the CS5 suite.
I just installed the CS5 suite and tried to make my first Blu-ray project.  Upon burning the disc I recieved and error.  Opened the exact same file in Encore CS4 and it burned without error.
Plus, Encore wants to keep re-importing assests when I go to burn or even open a project.
Too many unexplained problems for a fifth generation program.  Blu-ray is not as new anymore and this should not be the case.
Between Encore and waiting for other programs and plugins to work with 64bit, CS5 has been an upgrade that I could have waited a bit longer for...

  • Adobe Photoshop CC useless and licensing not working

I am so beyond fed up at this moment. I took the time and this year decided to make sure all my products is licensed so I signed up for Adobe photoshop CC and lightroom. But the support and the working has been shocking.
I've got so many issues and none are being resolved:
    1) When I start photoshop it counts down the trial (only 13 days left) I press license and it tell me it need to sign in, so one of two things happen:
    2) It either signs in but then immediately tells me I've been signed out to try again, and keep doing that OR
    3) It signs in and then tell me to enter a serial number which I dont have - its CC duh!!
    4) So then I try contacting support and there is NO RESPONSE!!!!!!!!!!
    5) I havent even downloaded lightroom yet - dont know where
    6) Photoshop keeps hanging! the trial of the old CS6 never hang, I've got 16gb ram, loads anloads of space and none of my graphics programmes have EVER had a problem. Its beyond irritating to have to close CC and loose an edit

  • Really really annoyed - Adobe has become USELESS!

I am so annoyed with Adobe I will try not to purchase any future products from them (over the years i have spent 1000's and recommended to many graphic design organisations)!!!!!
    These are the reasons why;
    1. When I download Flash Player - cause I am often asked - I keep making the mistake of installing Mcafee rubbish!!!!! Why why is a large reputable company peddling stuff that most of us don't need and if we did leave us free to make our own choice..
    2. For a company that charges so much it should possible to get your answers easily - no human contact is allowed and questions can be only answered in a forum which requires effort and knowledge to set up... This to me is bottom of the barrel support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Select a clip in the browser in list view. Press the spacebar. What do you see in the viewer?
What do you see in the timeline? Post a screenshot.
Click in the timeline or press Cmd-2. Press the spacebar. What do you see in the viewer?

  • Dear Adobe.  Your useless customer service is why I will never choose to purchase another Adobe product.  For $200, I get to read tons of other users questions, Yay!

Last time I try your "help"

Since this is the only message you have in your history it appears to be the first time you ever tried to get help thru the forums.  You should try posting a question that explains your problem so that someone might be able to offer help.

  • How do I get rid of the compromising software that Adobe sneakily installed on my browsers?

I am disgusted with Software companies like Adobe that treat their users with disrespect and contempt. They feel that they have the right to just download whatever they want and install it without anyone's approval.
Downloading Flash was an absolute joke.  First Adobe shoves 1 useless piece of crap software in your face after the other and they keep popping up a window to install driver software. If you decline each one, then they do not download the Flash player. Worse, they just go ahead and install their crap in your browsers despite the declines.
And Shame on you Adobe. Are you that desperate that you have to try and force-feed other software to your users? Makes me sorry that I ever purchased your CS suite.
Does anyone know how to get Adobe's crap unwanted software off my windows computer running XP?

  • Adobe reader in E 71

Recently I purchased E 71. Unfortunately the adobe reader is useless. It can only read very small file, other wise it says memory is not adequate and file can not be opened. Can any one help me.   Ullu

I had precisely the same problem, though in my case I had set the default email client to Windows Live Mail. I found an excellent solution here:

  • Constantly get "unhandled win32 exception occurred in Adobe Premire Pro.exe [1048]"  in Premier Pro CC v8.1 Caravan

I originally downloaded the trial version for evaluation two days ago and everything was working fine.  As of yesterday the program is crashing constantly (every 5 - 10 minutes) when I am editing videos with MP3 sound and mpg video files.  It crashes while I am trying to edit and insert Title text in the video sequence containing the song lyrics.
This makes this program unusable for my purposes unless I can find a solution for this problem.  I had planned to buy it and PS CC 2014 as well until this started.

Thank-you for your response.  I will review it ASAP.

    Thanks for chiming in.
Before today I was unaware of the issue as it had not presented itself as an issue to me.
I tried (because you suggested it) dragging a sequence into a pre-opened AME window. All that happend was the sequence window detached itself from the main Premier window.
After restoring the window - I went to the now opened AME and used File>Add Premier Pro Sequence and it all ran smooth as silk...
Thanks for the tip... Even though I couldn't identify the "drag" route I got the import sequence nailed.
I still look forward to this being resolved as the original flavour is the one I like best.
    Thanks

  • Cant find Adobe TV videos on 3D in Photoshop CS4

Im trying to find all the videos I can about Photoshop's 3D capabilities.
I have attempted to search Adobe TV's videos on the Adobe TV site.
    All attempts fail miserably.
The search function on Adobe TV is useless. Simply doesnt work.
Adobe TV seems to be working much worse than it was a few months ago. What happened?
(Broken links, slow access, fail to launch period...)
How do I actually get at the videos that I know are out there?
What other sources can I pursue to learn as much as I can about the 3D functionality of Photoshop CS4?

    Hi,
You can start with Russell Brown's tut's.

  • I purchased adobe cs6 dvd and have seial number, how do I install on iMac (tried reader, adobe instructions not working)

this is the student & teacher design & web premium bundle, I have registered the product with adobe before attempting install, followed their instructions but no luck - Adobe help is useless.

    jimspringgs,
This is an iMac forum, you should be in touch with Adobe, I know you are frustrated with them but it's their product and they know best how to support it.  Therefore you need to be a little persistent and insist on help. You can also Google for forums that support that product, that is where the experts on it will be.

  • Photoshop CS5 64-bit Crashing due to CoolType.dll

Spent 30 minutes on the phone with Adobe's fairly useless tech support, who asked me to do all the things I had already tried (delete prefs, turn of Font Preview, rename the scripting support plug-in, turn off OpenGL, etc.) in order to find out why my Photoshop CS5 64-bit on Windows 7 started crashing whenever I tried to use the text / type tool or opened a document with a type layer selected.
He thought he was done giving "support" when he said "Well, I suggest you just use the 32-bit version". When I reminded him that that didn't actually find / fix / solve the problem, he put me on hold again, then told me to use the System File Checker (sfc.exe) tool to check CoolType.dll, which is what's crashing Photoshop.
He told me that I would have to call Microsoft, because CoolType.dll is a system file and Adobe doesn't support those.
Hmm, I guess he didn't realize that CoolType.dll is an ADOBE system file that ADOBE put on my system.
Anyway...anybody know how to fix / replace CoolType.dll so that I can go back to using the 64-bit version of Photoshop CS5? I checked Adobe's website and couldn't find anyplace to download the current version.
    Thanks in advance!
    Gensy

I'm having this issue too.  Not sure if I have two issues or it's all related to this.  Most of the time, when I go to a folder to save an image, the program just dissapears with no error message at all and all my work is lost.  Anything I did during that session in PS is lost, including any modification of preferences, new actions made, etc.  I have tried reinstalling window 7 and CS5 and even on a clean system the problem occurs.  I have also tried uninstalling all non-essential fonts and deleting the font cache.  And, all the stuff you mentioned such as preferences in PS and dissabling  OpenGL, etc.  and have had three Microsoft tech sessions.  They don't see any evidence of the crash on my system so can't help with it.

  • WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Activation problem 194:100

What the ihell is going on?
I have been burdened with activation issues for weeks - see my previous thread. I have had no response here from Adobe about how to fix it. Please don't say this is a 'user to user' forum. It isn't a 'U2U' forum when Adobe state this is the first place we should look!
Now, no CC program will run owing to something called 'Activation problem 194:100'.
Yes, I have logged out. Yes, I have rebooted. Yes, I have deactivated 'more than 2 machines'. Why should I have to repeatedly click to 'deactivate 2 previous activations' when there has NEVER been more than one activation?
Adobe not only make me look a laughing stock in the classroom but this constant issue that has been going on for weeks now subliminally tells students Adobe software is useless!
When will I be able to use CC again? I am paying for it remember!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello Rajshree,
    Welcome to Adobe Forum.
CC has only EVER been activated on ONE PC.
If you look at http://forums.adobe.com/message/6198690#6198690 you'll see (like many other users) I have to constantly sign in and reactivate. It is probably this that is causing the multiple activations.
However, to reiterate, CC is only running on ONE computer. It has not at any time been activated on more than the same PC. One activation - one PC.
So, the suggestion of waiting a few hours (if the prog won't activate / run) is less than adequate. Like everyone else, I pay to have it running 24 hours a day - every day.

  • Reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro from CS4

    Hello all.
I know this is to do with Adobe and not an Apple product
but the help messageboards at Adobe have been useless and I've had
good experiences with the help on here—so I hope someone can still
help, despite the misfiling of my issue.
Basically the version of Acrobat 9 which came with CS4 (iMac)
hasn't been able to update for a good while and upon researching
the reasons for this it looks like the best diagnostic is to reinstall.
But I need help understanding how to go about uninstalling and then
    re-installing from the CS discs?
Can this be done? Can you reinstall just the one program from the
    whole CS lot?
I've looked for help pages online but they have also been useless
    and just confusing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ben.

    Hi dlavin999,
The disk 2 usually is meant for Acrobat 9.  You can insert the disc and check for yourself.

  • Re-installing Acrobat 9 Pro

We had 5 PCs with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on them.  For various reasons, we had to replace HDDs, and reformat them.  Before doing so, I was sure to "de-activate" them to ensure I could reinstall them once the restore was done.  I even went as far as to check the registry before de-activating and get the license key from there.
I have the original disks that came with the retail copies and the executable from the volume licensed products.
Adobe support is useless, and in their "chat session" they basically said upgrade or get lost.  Well, unfortunately, we deal with the SHA (state highway admin) and their software is so antiquated it does not work with newer versions.
My issue I'm having is, when I try to install any of the products (retail or volume licensed) I get the error "invalid license".  Other than "upgrade to the new version" does anyone know how to get around this?

fresh full versions. I tried to get the license info and matched up the retail with the DVDs and the volume licenses with the executables, I even tried all the licenses with disks and executable, and still got "invalid license" I'm guessing Adobe is somehow blocking it, but it doesn't make sense since I have the original keys, cases, and disks.  Yet Adobe will not work with me to get this resolved

  • Accurate proof with inaccurate monitor? [color management question]

At the risk of sounding really dumb, here goes:
I have never had a true color managed workflow despite dabbling in it and even delving into custom profiling.
I don't want to shut the windows in my upstairs office and be dependent on unnatural light sources. I'm content to design knowing that what's on my monitor is not accurate.
But I do want to be able to print my own inkjet proofs and know that what I see on paper is at least 90% accurate to what I'll get off press. And I want to try my best to provide clients with PDF proofs that come as close as possible to press. (This last bit's probably a pipe dream given that the clients don't have calibrated monitors, but perhaps Acrobat 9's new Overprint Preview default settings will help somewhat?)
Is this realistic? Everything I know about color management starts with monitor calibration and I'm reluctant to take that step for fear of working in a cave-like environment.
Would love to hear thoughts from the community.

I'm still using my Sony Artisan, and dreading the day it fails to calibrate, but I'm definitely in the minority now. Adobe Gamma is useless for LCDs, and no longer ships, but the modern hardwares solutions are all supposed to be compatible. I suspect you'll get good results with a good monitor.
As far as being worthwhile, absolutely. My office uses North light and daylight balanced fluorescent lighting, so there isn't a harsh color change through the day. Things are probably most accurate at the time of day when the calibration was last done, but they are definitely better any time than they would be without it.
