Adobe Kills Flash ?

Should we take it officially granted that Adobe Kills flash ?
The following threads
Re: After Effects CC 2014 - removal of H.264, MPEG-2, WMV, FLV, F4V, and SWF exporters - WHY !?
Re: Show Deprecated Formats in Output Module Settings don't appear in my output option!¨¨
that indicate that FLV export from After Effects CC 2014 is NOT included, along with the following
https://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2014/04/photoshop-spring-cleaning.html
at which indicated that Flash Panels are DISCONTINUED from Photoshop CC 2014 altogether, does it mean that ADOBE KILLES FLASH OFFICIALLY !?
An official representative's response to this statement would be MUCH appreciated!!

According to the above links
- As for developers, It's like telling them, stop using flash - find a nice html5 alternative (and hey, adobe doesn't even offer one to even imply!! Not at least a flash 2 html5 solution or something...) to get the job done and to the artists abandon flash as flv which was adobe's own invention may not be used to embed it into flash. And to pronounce it better, adobe's actually prevents users from embending ANY kind of video into flash.
- As for AE CC 2014, disabling the ability to export to flv format (which is the ONLY format capable of embending into flash) as well as preventing developers from developing flash panels for use in Photoshop as the above link indicate, to me seems that Adobe kills flash from inside out!
So the questions remain...
- As for flash, why upgrading ? The moment that adobe seems to be killing it for its own products !?
- As for AE to CC 2014, why upgrading ? When that seems like breaking existing workflows ?
Why upgrading to it at all ?!?!?!
P.S. I really hope theere is seomthing we miss or the above links are not accurate enough to cover the truth - But the again, they seem as if they are official announcement of Adobe! - This is insane!

  • Will HTML5 Kill Flash? ...

I'll post this in the Flash forum too but I'm posting it here first because I've been an AS3 Developer now for only a year. I'm only now starting to do interesting work that I feel good about. Now I'm seeing all this stuff about HTML5 killing Flash. Like when, huh? A new technology that's not due to see cross-browser support and full implementation for ten years, and it's going to kill Flash? I'm seeing a lot of emotive arguments about "death to Flash" which is nothing new. I'm seeing a lot of emotive opinion about HTML5 killing Flash. But I'm not seeing much that makes rational sense. I'd love to see some rational thinking and opinion on this question from some experienced Flash Developers. I'd love to have started Flash Developing ten years ago. But the simple fact is I didn't start getting competent till now. Am I five years too late to make a life out of it because of HTML5? Surely not!! Thanks for your time. Cheers. NT

    Please don't crosspost.
I suggest anyone wishing to respond to this to this post in the one in the Flash forum-- http://forums.adobe.com/thread/592495?tstart=0.  It is not an AS3 topic and it's best to keep the discussion in one place.

  • Adobe / macromedia flash

Hi, i was wondering how adobe / macromedia flash professional is running on these new intel macs (macbook pro) because of rosetta. All i have read about is for photoshop and even that has mixed reviews. Flash needs the processor more than ram as it doesn't use big files like photoshop.
Im trying to find out coz im a flash developer wanting to buy my first mac before i finish my uni course at the end of january when i will lose my eligibility to get student discount.
My other problem seems to be that there is no upgrade path from flash/studio 8 edu to newer versions unlike with the creative suite edu. and i dont want to have to buy the full software again 3 months later for the native cs3.
    any help/comments appreciated.

As a hardcore Flash Developer I've found some serious growing pains with Flash on the MacIntel machines. It doesn't matter what version of Flash you're using on the MacIntel side, it's just plan pathetic. Too say a 17" PowerBook 1.67GHz is faster or just as fast is completely absurd. Compiling swf's through the Flash IDE can be painstacking and forget about importing audio or video because that kills compile time (Luckily I keep everything external).
Flash and Mac have never really ran as efficient as it does on Windows. I've always felt OS X was the ultimate web developers machine so switching to Windows for Flash was out of the question. Yeah it's a little annoying the IDE and Player both run better on Windows but I feel OS X makes me an efficient coder on OS X(writing efficient ActionScript). Runs smooth on a Mac it's a guarantee to run great on a PC.
OK getting to the point, since I've been faced with the Flash and Rosetta issue this is what I've done and it's been a huge saver. I've bought a copy of Parallels and installed Windows XP (I know I said above I'd refuse go that route), and use that to tie me over till UB Flash 9 comes out. Heck Flash running under Parallels is at least 5 times faster than running under Rosseta. My compiling times have been cut to a minimum.
There is always the MTASC, TextMate and SWFMill route (Which is a great alternative). Also the Flex 2 Beta for Mac is out and that runs on the Eclipse Framework (Java Based Development Environment) and that's kinky on Intel. I use it every day now and it runs like a dream. Hopefully that has given you some insight to your question.

  • Extreme rare bug: properties windows doesn't appear - have to kill flash w. task-manager

Right now I had this bug for the first time (after having worked with Flash for about 2 months now):
I double-clicked on a bitmap-item in the library and instead of opening the properties-windows where you can change compression, import and so on, the focus changed to a random explorer window and flash got "locked". Flash probably thought that it actually opened a new sub-window and waited for it being closed, but there was no such window! Seems like the open-procedure failed and the next window to focus on was just an explorer window. Closing this one didn't get the focus back to flash. What a luck, I could still save the file using ctrl-s but couldn't get back to the application. So I had to kill Flash with the task-manager.
Anyone else had this bug? Would be good if Flash checks internally if the window creation succeeded before focusing on it, this is what I suspect has gone wrong - as a programmer.

If you are using CS4, update to 10.0.2 found here: http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html
If not or you are not using CS4, you may just need to reinstall.

  • How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro

How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro that I had installed on my computer before Microsoft crashed my computer and I had to do a fresh install? I finished reinstalling Win 8.1Pro on my computer thanks to Microsoft Lvl 1 Techies corrupting my Command Structure so nothing would work. I had recently taken a picture of my installed programs (control panel, uninstall programs list) so that I would be able to reinstall everything I needed. I can't seem to find an email for the Reader which I remember paying for, the others I believe were free installs. Can anyone help me out.

Safari Version 5.0.5  <  from your first post
5.0.5 is an outdated version of Safari.
There is an update available for Safari for version 5.1.1
    That may help.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen the click Software Update
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed.
    Try full screen ...
If you have problems using Software Update from the menu you can use the standalone installer here >  Safari 5.1.1

  • Can't I stop the HOG Flash from Firefox? I use FlashBlock but a constant fight. Often both cores maxed at 100%,laptop very slow until I kill Flash in Tsk Mangr

Flash is the problem. It often maxes both cores of my dual core processor and brings processing virtually to a halt.
Originally, I killed flash in Task Manager whenever i heard my fan come on and also noticed slow system response. This was very distracting and took a lot of time.
Then I installed FlashBlock, but it doesn't stop Flash unless you tell it for each and every website.
When reading news, and opening a link, I will hear the fan start, so i click the block button/icon in Firefox to block the site from using flash. Some sites don't launch with the FlashBlock icon. I have to use the manual kill option for them. This extremely frustrating. I understand why Steve Jobs hated Flash.
I don't like Apple's money-sucking wallet-leach behavior, so I use WinTel and live with the frustrations of which this is the biggest. HTML5 supposedly is the solution, but site builders use flash.
FireFox needs a flash control switch built in the browser to give control of Flash - block/ask, etc. functionality.

By the way, Firefox does have a Click-to-Play feature you can use for Flash. That will delay Flash from starting on a page until you approve it. However, the approval is per site, I believe, so you may need an add-on to control it per page.
To set "Ask to Activate", open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".
When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
Not a solution, but hopefully will help a bit.

    Greetings,
Try click2flash to block all Flash content unless you click on it to load it.

    Yes very.
    > Is it usefull for me if i learn Adobeflex?
Several of us are turning to Flex for eLearning and we are finding it to be
    a great tool.
    > How will be the future with ADOBE FLEX?
I think Adobe are commiting heavily to Flex - Flex plays on any machine with
the latest Flash player , so that includes PC, Mac and Linux. AIR plays on
PC and Mac today, with a Linux version under development right now. In the
future (Open Screen Project) versions of Flex and AIR should play on mobile
    devices too.

I don't really know what would be good or bad for your needs. Take a look at
some of the sample Flex and AIR apps on Adobe.com and see if you think the
features demonstrated are applicable to your needs.

  • Adobe macromedia flash mx pro 2004

    Hello,
I have problem with compatibility between macromedia flash mx pro 2004 and win 7 . Flash crashes after about 1 min after loading .  Any solution or advice?

Well there is no answer to my question, but I did finally get the Adobe Media Encoder dialog box to come back again.
After uninstalling Premiere and QuickTime, then shutting down the computer, rebooting and logging on to the Admin account, shutting down again, rebooting again, logging in to the Admin account again ...
I then went in to the registry and removed all the Entries that had either of these in it:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DVA\COM
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DVA\FLASH
    and these as well
    C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTComponents\FLV.qtx
    C?\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTComponents\FLV.qtx
Rebooted the computer, logged back in to Admin.
I then re-installed QuickTime, and rebooted.
I then installed Premiere and the Adobe Media Encoder Flash dialog now shows up.
I'd be careful messy with the registry if you are trying to fix this type of problem.  Try uninstalling quicktime and premiere and do the above shutdown, reboot sequence a number of times before doing anything to the registry.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that Flash Website I've working on...

  • JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player

Safari 3.2.1 - all the latest Java & Flash Player updates installed - Plug-ins allowed in Safari prefs - yet when I go to YouTube and try to play a clip I get this error -
"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."
Worked ok before the Safari update - YouTube videos play ok in Firefox. I suspect this is a corrupted "plist" somewhere, but which one?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Robert

The latest FlashPlayer (version 10) works fine for me with Safari 3.2.1 - so it should for you also!
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
Note that Adobe requires you to uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

It is also essential to repair permissions after installing anything from Adobe.

  • The beginning of the end for Adobe's Flash

Those of you who are still worried about Adobe's Flash player running on your iPad, please be aware that Adobe is slowly but surely abandoning its Flash software for all mobile devices:

Oh yeah....absolutely... OS X is here to stay.
Notice that Apple has been hush hush about 10.5 aka Leopard? The reason? i think....is that they got some new innovative features that they don't want Windows Vista to copy and implement in their 2007 release. So Apple's been taking it a bit slower, doing it better....coming up with new innovative features. The first one leaked out.... BOOT CAMP! BOOT CAMP is not for you or I since we both love OS X and don't want to run windows or Linux... but Boot Camp is the perfect solution to those people that NEED a windows box just to run some proprietary software or for school purposes (law school for example) part time.
OS X is here to stay. This summer at WWDC, we're going to get a taste of some tasty new features....AND AND...hopefully replacement towers for the G5...with intel chips, of course.
    no need to worry there.

uninstall your current flash player, http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
    and manually download and install:
Flash Player for ActiveX  (Internet Explorer): http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install _flash_player_ax.exe
