Adobe Label Zebra Printer SSCC Barcode

Urgently require help.
We have developed a SSCC EAN-128 barcode label using the Adobe Form Designer, and are having difficulties getting the barcode to look right on the printed label.
The barcode needs to be 78mm width by 38mm high as a minimum.  It is printing out as 40mm width by 36 high.
Also the barcode number needs to be imbedded at the bottom of the label, and it is appearing above the barcode when printed.
A print preview of the label is perfect, exactly how we require the label.
The printer is defined as follows:
Device Type: PDF1: PDF ISO Latin-1
Device Class: Standard printer
Host Spool Access Method: C Direct Operating System Call
Host Printer:
xxxx\warehouse
Host Name: ????
Query status through polling: disabled
Printer is a Zebra Label Printer
As far as we can tell the xdc file created by sap to send the output to the printer needs to be modified.
Guidenance/Advice welcome.

Hi David,
I feel that your query sounds very much like a good case for a customer message rather than a forum post in SDN.
Firstly, I think you need to change the device type to either AZPL203 or AZPL300. For more information, see the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/08/2259400d9d1059e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
If you also think that the XDC file needs to be adapted, please have a look at SAP Note 766410 (and the document mentioned therein) to see what kind of changes to these files are possible and supported.

  • Adobe and Zebra printer

    Hello All,
I have two questions on this topic:
Has anyone use Adobe forms and print a label using zebra printer? Currently we are using smartforms and we have to send command to rotate the text in the label.  Will the Adobe forms works without the need of sending rotate command?
Also, would like to check on how to utilize different printer fonts that is available in zebra printer. In smartforms, only Helvetica font is supported and if you need additional fonts, you need to create a print control for it. By using Adobe forms, I'm hoping there is an easy way to do this. I read some documentation that in order to add the fonts, we need to put the font file in a certain directory and that's it. I'm not sure if this also valid for zebra printer.
Any info would be appreciated. I'm trying to make a case that by going to Adobe form at least for printing solution/non interactive forms, will help the form programmer to expedite the form design compared to smartforms especially when dealing with zebra printer.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Bill,
yes it works - we use it productive for half an year to print barcodes and so on...it works good, if you have configured it well...i will try to give you some helpful hints:
    1. If ADS is not configured yet in your installation use the guide "Adobe Document Services Configuration for SAP NetWeaver 7.0"
    2. read SAP Note 685571 - it describes how to install the xdc file for Zebra Printers into the sap system (you have to install it on the system your sap runs - not the ads system). The appropriate device type is the AZPL203 (we tried a little bit to find this out)
    3. in SPAD define a Printer, use devicetype AZPL203, if your Zebra Printer is connected via LAN (i recommend this) use the host spool access method "C - direct operating system call"
    4. be sure to have a zebra printer supporting ZPL2 - for example first we tried it with Zebra TPL 282x series - it doesn´t worked - then we found out that the printer model must support ZPL2.0 for Adobe Printing, now we use a newer model the Zebra TPL 2824 PLUS with integrated LAN interface.
    5. and last but not least !!! if you are using a windows printserver, you have to use the driver "ZPL TLP 2824 Plus (ZPL)"
    (6. try to use the most recent patches for your ads system)
good luck  -  i would be glad to hear from you.
    best regards

  • Printing custom barcode from script

    Hi Friends,
    Need help.
I have created a barcode from SE73.  I used it in a layout .  I want to print it from Script ( With  driver program) .  I am getting print preview . But when I give print barcode is not coming.   But the same barcode I used it in SMARTFORM.  from this I am able to get preview and print.  How to solve this. Please help me.

    Hi,
If you are using zebra printer for Barcode printing then,
    1. for scripts you will have to write barcodes in postscript format (manual coding format).
    2. smartforms are higher version and are integrated with zebra printer. So there should not be any problem in converting the barcode character format and printing it.
If you are using laser printer (normal printer)
    1. barcodes through character formats in scripts will not work.
    2. will work with smart forms.
What is meant by manual coding???? pls help me.

    HI
    GOOD
    GO THROUGH THIS
A barcode solution consists of the following:
    - a barcode printer
    - a barcode reader
    - a mobile data collection application/program
A barcode label is a special symbology to represent human readable information such as a material number or batch number
    in machine readable format.
There are different symbologies for different applications and different industries. Luckily, you need not worry to much about that as the logistics supply chain has mostly standardized on 3 of 9 and 128 barcode symbologies - which all barcode readers support and which SAP support natively in it's printing protocols.
You can print barcodes from SAP by modifying an existing output form.
Behind every output form is a print program that collects all the data and then pass it to the form. The form contains the layout as well as the font, line and paragraph formats. These forms are designed using SAPScript (a very easy but frustratingly simplistic form format language) or SmartForms that is more of a graphical form design tool.
Barcodes are nothing more than a font definition and is part of the style sheet associated with a particular SAPScript form. The most important aspect is to place a parameter in the line of the form that points to the data element that you want to represent as barcode on the form, i.e. material number. Next you need to set the font for that parameter value to one of the supported barcode symbologies.
The next part of the equation can be a bit tricky as you will need to get a printer to print that barcode font. Regular laser printers does not normally print barcode fonts, only specialized industrial printers that is specifically designed to support that protocol and that uses specialized label media and heat transfer (resin) ribbon to create the sharp image required for barcodes.
Not to fear though, there are two ways to get around this:
    - You can have your IT department do some research -
most laser printers can accept a font cartridge/dimm chip (similar to computer memory), called a BarDIMM that will allow a laser printer to support the printing of barcodes.
    - Secondly, you can buy software that you can upload in your SAP print Server that will convert the barcode symbology as an image that will print on a regular laser printer. I found that this option results in less sharper barcodes. This option is really if you need to convert a large quantity of printers (>10) to support barcodes.
    - Thirdly, you can buy a third party software like Barcode.dll and install on your frontend PC connected to the laser printer.
Now you have a barcode printed - what next?
Well there are two options, depending on your business requirements:
    - You can use an existing SAP transaction on a regular workstation and get a barcode wedge reader to hook up between the keyboard and the PC. These wedge readers comes in a wand or scanner format. There are even wireless wedge scanners available that allows you to roam a few yards from the workstation to scan a label. This approach is mostly used where you want to prevent human errors in typing in long material, batch or serial numbers in receiving or issuing of material. The problem is that it's just replacing the keyboard input and you are basically locked down in one location and have to bring all the material to that location to process.
    - Another solution is to use SAPConsole transactions
or write your own ABAP Dialog programs that will fit onto a barcode enabled wireless handheld terminal and that will follow the business logic as executed on the shop floor.
These programs are highly complex exercises in industrial engineering and ergonomics because of the limited screen sizes and limited ability to accept keyboard input. The user is instructed step-by-step and only scan and push F-keys to interact with the SAP system. Scan, scan, beep, beep, enter - highly automated.

  • UPS Maxicode in Adobe Forms - non-zebra printer

    Hey guys,
I have a problem regarding printing an UPS Maxicode on a regular printer (HP Laserjet P3015) in Adobe Forms: It just won't print.
I'm using the "UPS Maxicode" object in the "barcode" library (LCD ES3, Version 10.4). After some research, I found this guide:
UPS maxicode on SAP Adobe forms - Contributor Corner - SCN Wiki
The scripting described there works great for printing the UPS Maxicode on a zebra printer - but the non-zebra printer scripting doesn't work for me.
There isn't much to find about this on google, so I hope you guys can help me. I experimented with printers, device types (i.e. PDF1) and such, but the result remains the same. What else can I try? Am I missing something?
Thanks for your time / help,
    Chris

You can find some information about it in this document:

  • Problem with printing barcodes to a Zebra printer via Smartform

    Hi
I am trying to create a printed label from smartforms, being directed to a zebra printer.  The label must include a barcode.
Via oss notes 750002 and 750772 I have imported the LZEB2 device type.
In SE73 I have created a system bar code on the new technology.
In the smart form style, I create a character type with this barcode font.
The barcode prints okay and can be read when it has up to 10 characters.
However we need a long bar code of appoximately 22 characters.
I can find no supported barcode type which will let me write a barcode of this length
The max length in the smartform style for the barcode format is always coming up as 50mm which is too short.
I have tried with using a printer bar code prefix and suffix with the native zebra ZPI-II commands, attaching to command nodes on either side of the text node in the smart form,  But this does not seem to work.
    Any advice ?
    Thanks

sounds like the variable containing the barcode data is too short...is it at least 22 characters long?

  • Zebra printing in web dynpro/Adobe

    Hello,
We have zebra label print designs in place (we dont want to design using adobe designer). Now we would like to enable subcontractors to print them online using web dynpro/Portal.
    1. one way I identified is send the zebra spool as a file and save it in the local disks and print it using zebra printer.
Whats the better and efficient way to approach? How everybody is doing this?. Doesnt SAP have any solutions?.
    Thanks ,
    Raj.

SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe comes with ABAP backend print support for Zebra label printers.
However, as with all backend printing the required output formats are placed in the spool. To my knowledge, there is no standard SAP way to make these spool-based formats available for print in a Web Dynpro application. In addition, note that in the ABAP backend SAP doesn't print from the PDF, which for these processes has only got a preview function. Depending on the scenario, printing is done from PS, PCL or ZPL through the corresponding SAP device types.

    Dear all,
Iam trying to print the barcode in the label of size 4.00 X 7.00 inche in smartforms , for which i have created a page format in SPAD with 4 x 7 inch and specified the same in Form interface and specified 4.00 x 6.00 inche in the MainWindow of smarforms,
im getting the print preview ,but it is not printing it in the printer, i checked with the zebra printer set up also and in the printing preferences i gave it as user defined.
but when i tried with page size of 4.00 x 6.00 , it is printing without any problem. but my requirement i need to print that in 4.00 x 7.00.
Can anybody guide me how to resolve this.

  • Logo printing on label output from Zebra printer

Hi guru, I am new to zpl command and I cannot find out how SAP is compiling the logo object and load into SAPSCRIPT. Bascially, our company is using zebra printer to print out receiving label with logo on it. There is a requirement to change the logo. What should be the steps?
The transaction I was told to use is OMCF. I can see the precompile file path/name is listed in each label text object. Something list C:\BARONER3\Logos\logo1.bmp or C:\Logos\logo2.bmp. If I need to change a new bmp file for the logo, how should I do it?
Also, is there any good documentation about BAR-ONE and ZPL command?
According to SAP help, the label design is done in BAR-ONE then the print file is downloaded as .ITF format and import into SAPscript as standard text using SO10. However, I cannot find any standard text in SO10 which have the same text ID and text name as in OMCF -> Text Object.....what is the connection between the Standard text and the OMCF text object?
Any advise on the details step to how to create a simple logo/barcode label using BAR-ONE and SAP is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Minami

    Hi Minami,
Please check the transaction SE 78 here you can upload new logo or pic with some retriction on size compnay logo should not be a problem. Then you can change the logo.I think this link might be of use to you.I am sending you link

    Hi Gurus,
    Requirement:
Print label on Zebra printer with smartform
    1. i have created a smartform with desired layout
    2. and trying to print on Zebra printer
    Questions:
    1. smartform is not printing on zebra printer
    2. suggest me if there are any ways to print smartform on zebra printer
    3. does it requires any native programming language for printing labels on zebra printer
    Best Regards,

    hi Krishna,
This printer does not support ZPL2 so I thnk you cnnot use the device types like LZEB2. It should work to print via windows and a device type like SAPWIN or SWINCF.

  • Printing chinese characters on a Zebra printer using Adobe Interactive Form

    Hello,
We have created an Adobe Interactive Forms in SAP with some words in English and another one in simplified chinese. We have defined a Zebra printer in SPAD with the AZPL203 driver.
When we print the form in the zebra printer some of the chinese characters are printed and some of them no.
Has anyone faced the same problem?
    Thanks a lot
    Miquel A. Vergara

    Hi,
Welcome you post on the forum.
However, this is not the right forum for you. It is only for SAP Business One user. Please search entire forums first to find which one is more proper.
However, this issue may not be related to SAP at all. Search on the web would be better.

  • Rotation of label using smartforms by 90 deg using zebra printer

    Hi,
I am facing one problem using smartforms for label printing. Since the zebra printer which is being used requires 90 deg rotation of form for the normal smartform design. I have even tried using ZPL commands by using ^FWR  command in the window attributes but the text within that window only gets rotated and each line gets overwritten on one another. Please let me know if it s possible to rotate the complete form in smartform for label printing using zebra printer.
    Thanks and Regards
