I want to install adobe layout design tool, we are working on ECC6 is there any note avalible for installing the adobe layout design tool, or what is alternate method for this.

1)Direct installation on the workstation
2)Update installation server (for administrators)

Hi Everyone,
In my webdynpro abap or in Adbe form creation in SFP also the Adobe layout design is not coming. Displaying an error message stating that ' Could Not start Layout Design'. Can any reply me the root cause for this Adobe layout problem.

Hi,
There could be two reasons for this.
1. Check under ABAP connection in SM59 for ADS service running or not. It must be active. You may test the connection or check with Basis Team as well.
2. You need to install Adobe Life Cycle Designer in your system OR the latest SAP GUI ( This contains by default Adobe Life Cycle Designer)

Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8 Beginner

I am very much new to adobe form design tools. Now my company wants me to develop an eForms system using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.
The requirements are like this
All pdf forms will be saved in the file server.
Users can enter data directly into the fields of the form.
The form can capture data the user enters, and provide interactive feedback such as when an employee enter his roll number his department should be filled automatically in the form.ie form provide dynamic data
The form should be able to process the user data directly to a database.
Can anybody give some good reference so that I can start the project?

I have a vital form that clients fill out, which is passed to many people in the company along the workflow. The form is a Planner and we have in the following PDF, Word Doc..
Well before, the Planner.pdf was originally created in Word, since most people have access to Word.. but evolved to a PDF form created from the Word Doc via Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 w/ User Rights enabled so that the form could be filled out and saved using Adobe Reader.. which was a step better than Word.. being that it is free. But this needed to be easier and more to the point b/c some clients don't particularly like installing the latest version of Reader, even if you provide them the link. Nor do they like saving the form, filling the form, and attaching the form to send back.
My goal is to have the client fill an HTML version of the form, submit and be done with it, but everyone in the workflow be able to easily receive the filled Planner as a PDF form.
So some months ago I ran into this post Chris Trip, "Populate Livecycle PDF from mySQL database using PHP" #8, 22 Sep 2007 4:37 pm
which uses the command line Win32 pdftk.exe to merge an FDF file into an existing PDF on the remote server, and serve this to whoever.
My problem was with shared hosting and having the ability to use the Win32 pdftk.exe along with PHP which is predominantly used on Linux boxes. And we used a Linux box.
so i created the following unorthodox method, which a client fills the HTML version of the Planner, all field values are INSERTED into a table in MySQL DB, I and all filled planners that have been filled by clients to date can be viewed from a repository page where an XML file is served up of the corresponding client, but someone would have to have Acrobat Professional, to import the form data from the XML file into a blank form.. altoughh this is simple for me.. I have the PHP file already created so that when a Planner is filled and client submits. >> the an email is sent to me with a table row from the repository of the client name, #, email, and a link to d-load the XML file,
But I also have the PHP files created so that the Planner can be sent to by email to various people in the workflow with certain fileds ommitted they they do not need to see, but instead of the XML file beiong served up i need the filled PDF Planner to be served.
I can do this locally with ease on a testing server, but I am currently trying to use another host that uses cross-platform compatibility so i can use PHP and the pdftk.exe to achieve this, as that is why I am having to serve up an XML file b/c we use a Linux server for our website, and cant execute the exe.
Now that I am testing the other server (cross-platform host), just to use them to do the PDF handling (and it's only $5 per month) I am having problems with getting READ, WRITE, EXECUTE permissions..
Si guess a good question to ask is can PHP do the same procedure as the pdftk.exe, and i can eleminate it.
or how in the heck can i get this data from the DB into a blank PDF form, like i have described??

Modify Financial Report (Profit & Loss) through Print Layout Designer

Hi all,
We try to modify the P&L Financial Report in SAP BO 2005B through the Print Layout Designer tool. We saved a new P&L Report with font size and font type modified and set this new report as default, but we noted that our modifications are only displayed in Report print preview instead printing this Report it seems like our modification are not performed.
Have you got any experience in this matter.

We had also faced this problem. we are also using SAP 2005B.
For P&L Report, Hope u did changes in Profit and Loss Statement (System).
But, it is true that the system is not using the baove template for its print. Instead of that the system is using the template called "Profit and Loss statement Comparison".
When u give print preview u can understand this.i.e. the name of the template used will display in the title bar.
Hence, u do the changes in second said template. Hope u understood

How to call Adobe LiveCycle Designer From Developer Studio?

I am new to webdynpro.I am trying to create an Interactive form from Developer Studio but am not able call Adobe LiveCycle Designer tool.Even though I have installed Adobe LiveCycle ES,the system is prompting a message to install Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

You have to install and use the LiveCycle Designer provided by SAP, which you can download from service marketplace.

Problem with Adobe Forms - Layout designer doesn't start

Hello Masters:
I have a problem in transaction SFP. when I try to open the layout tab, I'm receiving the next error message: "Could not start Layout Designer".
I installed Adobe reader 9, LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 and then I re-installed SAPGUI, but it doesn´t work yet.
Does anybody know wath is the problem?

To active Text Formatting function and more tool bars in Adobe LiveCycle Designer 11

I have an original PDF form need to be edited to a fillable form, I can add Text Field into form as a fillable text field into this PDF form in the Design View, however I can not edit any of the text , table and several other Objects. I am an authorized to the Adobe LiveCycle Designer 11 , How can I active my whole tool Bar to edit the PDF file? If the otiginal PDF is locked or read only for the above objects, how can I unlock them?

if you import a given PDF file into Designer, it is displayed as background artwork in your form.
Most tools of Designer then will be deactivated.
There is no way to edit this PDF background in Designer, as the kind of PDF you create with Designer is completely different to the one you create with Acrobat or InDesign.
You either can edit your PDF in Acrobat or you have to build a new form in Designer from scratch, I believe.

Adobe's "Adobe Font Development Kit for OpenType" (AFDKO) documentation states that "AFDKO is for adding OpenType data to existing fully-designed PostScript and Truetype fonts, and for proofing them. It does not offer tools for designing or editing glyphs."

Adobe Livecycle Designer ES 2 - how to repeat page layout in the form?

How would you repeat page layout design randomly in a form, means how the same page layout can be repeated on non-consecutive pages of an LC Form? For e.g. I want to repeat Page1 layout on Page 5 and Page 6 of an LC Form. How to do that. Please reply.

You use Master Pages to set layout that you want to use on multiple pages.
Design what you want in a Master Page and then assign it to the pages you want in Object>Pagination>Place: and choose On Page> whatever you called your Master Page.

Diagnosis
The forms design tool for developing the form layout could not be started; either it is not installed or there are errors in the installation.
Procedure
Make sure that you have the forms design tool installed on your desktop (the tool is part of the SAPGUI installation).
Refer also to SAP Note 1121176.
Note : I have already checked forums and also the long text file , i have installed SAP gui 720 with latest patch even though , we are getting the same error . or i have to installed ADOBE LIFE CYCLE DESIGNER to user PC ?
Note :
One of the forum is mentioned ,we can also download and install the newest SAP GUI (what is 7.2 i believe) which has LCD as a part of installation.
but still i am getting error .

When i press layout button in adobe forms (SFP) i am getting the following error..

Issues with Adobe LifeCycle Designer

Hi,
I m using Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.0 with SAP NetWeaver 7.0.11 on windows XP.I m facing these 2 problems :
1. In my form i have few subforms.For those i have set Auto fit property as true,Expand to fit property is true ,Allow multiple lines property is true ,Allow Page breaks within content property is true & the layout is flow content.
If the complete data for 1 subform is shown in same page,it shows the complete data but if the data is split into more than 1 pages,its showing the data in both pages but it truncates some data.
e.g. Suppose 1 have a subform & in that 20 rows are available.If that subform split in 2 pages,it shows 10 rows in 1st page but in 2nd page it shows only 6-7 rows & truncates 2-3 rows from the last.I m not sure what can be the problem.
2. I m not able to put some extra space between 2 subforms while using Flow Content Layout.

To create a form in the AcroForm format or LiveCycle Designer you will need Acrobat Professional as Standard does not have the form tools. Although LiveCycle Designer will export in the XML format. It is also possible to export form data from Acrobat in the XML format by using the XFDF format.

Migrating forms from Adobe Output Designer 5.5 to Adobe Document Server

Hi,
I have several form templates / layouts that have been created in Adobe Output Designer 5.5 (for mySAP) and I want to migrate these form templates so that they can been used in SAP Adobe Document Server.
Does anyone have any information on this? Any tools available? Documentation? Links?

I would think the common sense approach would be to upgrade to ECC 6 first then migrate your forms.
This seems to be just another step in the upgrade process.
We went from 4.7 to ECC 6, but only had Smartforms and SAPScripts. We wound up just re-creating the forms directly in Adobe.

Print Layout Designer or Crystal.....! What to do?

Dear All,
We need to link our User forms to Print layouts in order to make our reports work exactly the way SAP reports work. Is there a way to enable the print and print preview toolbar buttons and make them show our Report Layout? So far the response from SDK Forum is not encouraging and many questions regarding the same issue remain unanswered there.
After looking for the solution in the SDK Forums we came across these two replies from Mr. Nick He and Mr.Frank Moebius. Both are of the opinion that currently SAP does not offer a support for this feature and better use a third party tool. We are not in a position right now to opt for any third party tool but if we get a clear response from your side regarding this matter, we can go for it. Kindly have a look at the following links:

The recommended solution within SAP B1 to develop Add-on reports is through User Queries and creating a Print Layout and run them via Query Manager Window. This approach in our view has the following drawbacks that make it less friendly with the end user:
1. Add-on forms appear in the left pane/menu, whereas reports would have to run through Query Manager only, which is in fact a small toolbar button on the top right side. We can add the Query Manager link to user menu but it doesnt solve the problem.
2. A user with full authorization over the Print Layout can accidentally overwrite it by clicking the Create Report Button, whereas in case of SAP Reports the Layouts remain unchanged and only saved as a new Layout and set as Default Layout for a report. Add-on Reports cannot do this.
3. Different behavior of Layouts in Query Manager on Single Click and Double Click. In the Query Manager, if a user just selects a query by a Single Click and views a Print Preview (Layout) then the custom user Layout appears. But if a user Double clicks a query then the Query Window appears, exposing the query and making it editable. Also the Preview(Layout) is different in this case. The user can either view the Window or Table Layout in this case. Hence this exercise would make the user confused and prone to errors.
4. The Parameter/Criteria window that is SAP generated is not enough to fulfill user friendly interface requirements. Is there a way to add List boxes or Combos to that form. The parameter selection Checkboxes also behave in a strange way that even the experts find difficult to manipulate. If they are of no use, whats the point in having them on the form in the first place.
All these points are leading us to confusion over the decision as to whether go for Query Based Reports or use Third Party tools. Kindly help us out in this regard. Your response would help us save some valuable time for our Add-on Development.

The answer to that is to lodge your query as an Issue to SAP directly as a support question or go through your local SAP representative. If the functionality is not offered by SAP you can do a Development Request ( DRQ) and SAP will develop it if they think it will become userful.
