Adobe lightroom 2 module error

I just installed Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2, but when I start the application an error comes up " an error occured when attempting to change modules". I am new to the mac so i am at a loss on what to do to fix this. I have removed the program and it .plist file but the error still comes up when i install it again. I loved this program when I used XP so I want to continue this program. Any help will great.
thanks

That would be a problem for Adobe's forums. I've never seen it before personally.

  • Lightroom: "An error occurred when attempting to change modules."

I'm a first time Lightroom(via the Cloud) user (used Capture One before this) and just downloaded it today. The first thing I saw was this error message
"An error occurred when attempting to change modules."
I've updated it to 4.3 and I've tried all the other recommendations I found here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/error-changing-modules-lightroom.html
I don't know what Nik products are but I don't believe I have any.
    I'm on a Mac running 10.6.8
Removed this preference file I found here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroom-4.html
So frustrating! Please, can anyone help me???

I can only quote from the webpage that you already visited RE: Permission.
You need to have full permission for reading and writing for the folders and drives that Lr is using - particularly the folder that contains the catalog (i.e. the database Lr is working with).
If you have full permission try re-installing Lr. Un-install it via your OS. And re-install it.
Also, occasionally downloaded programs can become damaged during download - for instance when the download has been interrupted.
Before you re-install, I'd recommend that you download Lr again and use this second download for re-installation.
From the webpage (particularly read the part about Macs):
Solution 5: Set correct permissions on Lightroom folder inside Application Support
The Lightroom folder inside Application Support could have the wrong permissions preventing Lightroom from writing to it which can cause this error.
Navigate to the following folder: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom
Highlight the Lightroom folder and chose File > Get Information
Under Sharing & Permission, verify that your have Read & Write Privileges. If not, click the padlock icon at the lower right, enter your password when prompted, then click the Read only entry and select Read & Write.
Important: (Mac OS) Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If you need access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.
Solution 6: Try a different user account.
Copy the Lightroom folder into a new user account or other existing account on your computer. Then, restart Lightroom. The Lightroom folder is in the following locations:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Adobe\
    Windows 7, Vista: [user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\
    Mac OS: [user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
Important: (Mac OS) Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If you need access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.

  • Lightroom Change Module Error...PLEASE HELP

OK I had installed the Beta version of Lightroom on my Mac using the latest version of OSX.
Today I went and downloaded the Trial version of the full software. I then install the software and I notice I only get the UPGRADE option. When I select this it seems to install, but then when I run it I get the following error:
"An error occured when attempting to change modules".
If I click Ok and continue Lightroom launches but anything I click on gives me this same error. I even tried creating a new library.
On reading another post on a forum I removed/uninstalledLightroom (using CleanApp) and also repaired permissions using (DiskUtility). Rebooted and reinstalled, but I am unable to see the "New Install" option. I keep on getting "Upgrade".
What can I do to get a brand new installation going please.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Max

Are you holding down Option through the whole start? The Icon should then bounce and after clicking again give you the Library Dialogue.
You could also try deleting he .plst at user/Library/Prefernces/com.adobe.Lightroom.plist

I have installed Adobe Lightroom CC.  In the process of launching, a popup appears, that says:  "AN INTERNAL ERROR HAS OCCURRED.  Cannot create the required folder:  /Users/(my user name)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets."  So even though Lightroom CC is installed, it will not launch.  What do I need to do to allow it to launch?

The problem was solved today.  Here's the full story.  I'm a Mac user.  At first I installed Lightroom CC on my iMac (desktop).  I had this problem so I called Adobe, and was referred to a "special unit" .  After about an hour the tech solved it for me ... we did a screen sharing and she took control of my computer for a loooong time.  Because of language difficulties, at first I wondered if she knew what she was doing but she eventually solved it.  Although she couldn't explain exactly what she was doing, she summarized it by saying "it was a permissions problem."  I asked if I would have the same issue later when I installed it on my laptop (Macbook Air).  She said probably not.
But I did.  The same internal error popup arose on launch and launch did not complete on my laptop.  I tried chat but no joy so I eventually called Apple Care.  I had noticed that on my laptop (and the iMac for that matter), that there was no Library folder after my user name.  The Apple tech explained that the Library folder is actually there but it is hidden because it's very easy for users to do some very nasty things to their computer by going astray while in the Library folder.  The folder is actually there, but they hide it.  I did remember seeing that the tech helping me with my iMac had typed the work "Library" while she was controlling my computer.  Basically she had activated the hidden Library folder so she could open the path that Lightroom was trying to follow to create that "Develop Presets" folder.  For some reason, the inability to create that folder in the launch process was preventing launch from being completed.  The Apple tech said she didn't actually have to do that and activated the Library folder by use of the Go selection on the menu bar.  Anyway, once that complete path was replicated and opened, the next step was to go to the Lightroom Permissions field and add my user name to the user categories already there and enable "read and write" permissions to my user name.  Once done, I shut down my laptop, and then rebooted.  I launched Lightroom and then boom, voila, heavens to betsy, etc. it launched and suddenly a dismal weekend turned into a great one.
I am not a geek, so I hope this makes some sense.  I also hope Lightroom launches again tomorrow and beyond!

  • In Adobe Lightroom, the Develop module is saying "Develop module disabled. Please renew your membership to reactivate the Develop module". I bought this product at full price several months ago.

The Develop module is saying "Develop module disabled. Please renew your membership to reactivate the Develop module". I bought the product at full price several months ago and have had no problems using it until, so I am not sure what it is asking of me. I only had it on one other computer before I added it to this second computer, and I understand we get 3 copies. There should not be any issues. I need an answer ASAP.. actually pretty shocked that there is no immediate customer service that I can contact for a problem like this.

If the develop module is disabled then you have downloaded and installed Lightroom from the creative cloud. It cannot be licensed with a serial number. It requires a creative cloud subscription, and is activated and kept active with your Adobe ID and password. That version will not work on your computer and will have to be uninstalled. Then you can install from one of these two links:
Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1
Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1
This will have no impact on your catalog or your images. After you install from the right website you will be able to continue where you left off.

  • Error 1935 on Adobe Lightroom 5 update

I downloaded and attempted to install the udate for Adobe Lightroom 5 tonight and at the end of installation it popped up with an "Error 1935" message, cancelled the installation and now I can't open Lightroom at all, as it seems no version of it is installed anymore. I have tried to install it again and gotten the same error message. What is that message, and how do I fix this, since right now I can't use Lightroom at all?

Alorakitten the .Net framework on your Windows based computer has become damaged.  Please see Error 1935 | Assembly component Microsoft.VC80.CRT | Install | CS4, CS5, CS5.5 products | Windows - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1935-assembly-component-microsoft.html for information on how to resolve your current error.

  • Adobe Lightroom disk image error

    Hi.
    I have a MacBook Pro Early 2011.
    Running 10.9.4
The issues i have is i cannot install Adobe Lightroom 5.6
When clicking the DMG file it goes so far extracting then stops with an error - Image Data Corrupted
I have been into disk utilities and verified the DMG
I have tried turning off the verify checksum function in disk utilities.
That allows it to extract further start the install but then stops with another error stating contact the software manufacturer.
I HAVE used successfully the same DMG file on my iMac.
It extracts perfectly and installs with no issues.
    Confused and stumped.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Have a look at this thread: Re: Installation
Basically you will have to download 5.4 to get the MSI then extract and point the uninstall to the extracted MSI file for 5.4
You can download your version from here: Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows

You need Lightroom 5.5 or later (the most current version is 5.7.1). This is a free update if you have already purchased an earlier version of Lightroom 5.

I have downloaded  adobe lightroom 5 students . Developpement module is not active. Is it normal?

Do you have a License key? 24 digit numerical? If yes uninstall to existing version of Lightroom using your operating system procedure, this will not interfere with your catalog, preferences and personal files.
Download the appropriate version for your operating system from this site. Product updates proceed to install and enter your License key.
If you have a Adobe Creative Cloud subscription then you may need to uninstall the existing version the reboot and open the Adobe Creative Cloud Application Manager, login to your account and Lightroom CC should be available to install. The application will be automatically activated.

  • Downloading Adobe Lightroom?

I purchased a Samsung NX 300 which comes with a licenced Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.  It has given error after downloadeing and I couldn't trace it. What should I do?

  • Major error that doesn't allow usage (module error?)

This problem occurred somewhere along updating to the new Leopard on my Macbook Pro 15" Duo Core. This problem occurred on 1.3 and is made worse in 1.3.1
When I start the program, I am brought into the Develop module. Either by pressing E, the top buttons, or the shortcuts, there is literally no way of me exiting this module into the Library, Slideshow, Print, etc., all it does is give me an error message that says "An error occurred when attempting to change modules."
I tried reinstalling lightroom, but that didn't help. I'm thinking there is a way to completely reset Lightroom so it would restart in the Library module, rather than the Develop? Is there some way to completely uninstall? This has really hampered me the past few days, any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a good list of possible work arounds here:
    Error changing modules | Lightroom
This is what fixed it (I think. I hope!) for me:
Solution 5: Set correct permissions on Lightroom folder inside Application Support
NOTE: Use this solution if you are asked for your serial number after you relaunch Lightroom after getting this error.
